this is for reports and stuff

first of
because the nbh can't be much bigger then it's now I can't add programs without removing other apps.
SO there is no way for me to add Opera, Office or MSN to this rom
I will make a correted version later but first play with this one a bit so I can get more reports on whats working and whats not

Version to did boot but stops at alignment screen after looking inside my kitchen i found that there was no touch.dll so Beta 3 uploaded now

I believe that the nbh file can't be bigger then 65MB and the first version was around 75mb
I have removed Opera and Office from beta 2 to get the size down to 63mb
if it is now working I will try to find a way to get at least Office back in Opera can be installed as a cab so can Office

I need you to test what is working and whats not
I don't have an Artemis so I can't test and I wan't be fixing bug untill I get an Artemis

That was what i've told you. You can't extract that ROM. Only if you ask the cooker for his kitchen.

I just downloaded the diamonish rom to see and it's size is 63 so I would guess that could be it.
I will try to remove some stuff
to get down to around 65 mb
I have removed Opera and Office and will upload the new version now the nbh file is now 63 mb so well know if it's was a size prob or not

this is good news then because then I know I can work but it will be realy hard to debug without a phone.

SIP's: if you choose a different "SIP" like "Keyboard" --> the different SIP does not work ! You can tap on the screen but nothing happens on the screen ....

Is it possible to use "pocket cm" while choosing a message in "All Messages" ?

actualy Internet exploer is in the rom but made some changes to the reg so the links would open Opera insted but when I removed opera I did not correct the regs I will do that in next version.

I need more testing to know what to fix

now at least we have a rom that boots and most things seam to work.

I tested this on my artemis.
Seemed to work fine exept "All Programs" did not work.
The bad thing was it ate all my memory so i could not launch anything
after a while and it begins nagging about low memory Had to go back to YUE v.10 Extraclean.
Hope you improve on this memory issue because it work very fast initially but when memory got lower it worked slower.

Question, any chance to make somewhat of a split rom?

So that rather than installing everything on system memory having a default cab package (or more oemish a diy package that needs to be placed/installed manually on the sd)that needs to be installed together with the rom, that will install all side programs needed, and in this case on the sd card (Think of htc album, htc audiomanager, youtube, googlemaps, office, opera, the images that can be redirected in the xml file etc), since its not easy to swap the sd card to begin with on an artemis, it might as well be used as a extension of the main memory for system programs.

I haven't tried this rom yet but i will put it on mine to try it out to help you with finding bugs.
Atm i run yue v10 lite, with B13 of manilla 2d, it might be interesting to know, that beside Manilla 2d and the Fullscreen player fix cab everything on my installment was installed on the sd card and it all seems to work the same for when i tried beta 13 all on the main memory.

Anyway thanks a lot for doing this for us while you don't even have an artemis, much appreciated.

Just put your rom on now will do some testing tomorrow, but its definitely a lot faster than a single cab install.
programs widget works for me (although i use M2DC and set it to 4 wide before i checked if it worked).
The album in the preview mode (when you're in the album/picture widget) shows those incorrect black boarders.

the wifi could be fixed by installing a cab for artemis my guess it that the driver for wlan is differant from the one my comm manager tries to activate.

and you are right about the costumasations that Yue rom would also have much less ram if all that is included in my rom was in that rom.

Fix for the internet tab is given at earlier pages either do the registry change or install the opera cab on your storage. (or main memory but you wont have the space for that).

This is a Beta testing, so if you want to help just test it.
This was what many people wanted has a ROM, so now is your chance.
Test it and share your experiences.
The Memory, performance, velocity, tests with TOMTOM, IGO, etc.
Tests from all the programs in the ROM.
One major isse is the low RAM. So, just try to test it and see the RAM consuption.
For now this are the only issues that matter. So try to foccus on it...
The screenshots will appear, so focus in the purpose of this BETA testing OK?

Atm i have 8mb of program memory left nothing running in taskmanager, after a day of regular messing around.
After a soft reset i'm down to 17mb free but thats with some stuff installed, but memory usage is definitely too big for most people still.

Agree with the previous post. I had 4.7MB of program memory free after install and it went up to 12.14MB after it customised and did a soft reset. It feels a bit slow though. Thanks for the ROM anyway.

You can only make a ROM as good as the software running on it, and because TouchFLO 2D requires more RAM than the Artemis has available, it will be sluggish, until the developers of Manila2D work out a way of it using less RAM.

gullum, have you thought about basing this ROM on the YuE Extraclean ROM? From experience it runs really fast on there.

it's not as sinple as you guys think if I made my rom without all these manila software it would have a whole lot more ram and the reason that YuE Extraclean has so much ram is because at it says in the name "Extraclean" this means there are no software to use the ram.

actualy when I started making this rom it had no apps other then whats needed.. but to make it a TouchFlo2D I have to add lots of stuff.

I put it verry simple for you all I you wan't a manila rom you need to live with less ram sorry but I'm shure I can free up some of the ram but there is no way to have 27 mb free and having manila.

on my ELF and Herald I have around 20 - 23 MB free after SR
my manila rom for wizard and prophet have around 25-27 mb free but they don't have the TouchFlo2D on them yet

one more thing to consider is that Artemis has FM and GPS these drivers do also use ram.

Firstly, many thanks to Gullum for this wonderful ROM!

Although it may have a few bugs, I will keep this ROM!

Quite a few times I installed TF2D with each update, but each of them slowed my phone down really bad! (MDA Compact 4, T-Mobile UK - no WIFI). This was the case even after hard reset + fresh install.
If you installed TF2D on another ROM and thought it was slow or slowed your device down, try this, because it is like a regular ROM.
(For example, to open Windows directory took forever after installing TF2D, but now it takes only a few seconds!)

I changed the pagepool to 4MB, so at the moment have just under 20MB free RAM (While connected to my computer!) - enough to run most of the applications I need.

In the worst case, I would rather disable TF2D temporarily and run applications than to replace this ROM. :)

I love the new phone dialer skin too!

Finally, many thanks again Gullum and altough it may have a few small bugs, these are nothing and I can easily live with these!

My Artemis got broken today, but I'll fix it in no time AND I can test stuff on it while it's not fixed anyway. The only thing broken is the outside part of it...All the hardware is working fine...

I myself am trying to cook a ROM with Manilla2D in it...If you could PM me and share the experience, I think we could work together and make a lightweight, cool ROM to everyone here...

Dear Chef Gollum this rom is excellent in various ways. With xcpuscalar and cpu at 247mhz i can say that it is very very fast. Points to mention:

1) Free Ram is about 10Mbyte. That may be an issue in the future but not for the time being.
2) At "Programs" the All programs left softkey doesnt work. Maybe it needs tweaking through xml file.
3) When i try to add a contact at the Contacts Tab it doesnt show sim items. But if i open the Contacts Program, it does show all items including the ones in the Sim. Btw both 2 and 3 issues where there if we installed the Manilla cab file so i believe that it is an issue of the xml config file. Just a guess :)
4) In my humble opinion programs like streaming media, HD SD (you have intergrated the original Diamond applet that lets you choose how does user want USB cradle to function) and mp3 trimmer can be ommited. The standard program tweaking tools which could be included are (working-last edition)Sipchange, SMS tweaker (to choose between dialog mode and normal mode sms), Task Manager, an applet to change right and left softkey functions on home screen and the good old default keyboard that HTC has on base roms. The plain white with black letters (the fastest one!!).
5) Opera, Office and Windows Live tools are really easy to find so i would't be to anxious about them.
6)On the SMS tab the letters that are different from greek to english (i am greek so i send sms in greek :)) do not appear. The regional settings are set on greece and greek provider settings are included in the network wizard^^

The Diamondish 1.4.0 Kitchen that you used is a very good choice in my opinion as it is very stable and while it may be memory consuming it makes up for performance. I personally believe that that trade-off isn't that bad!
Overall this rom does provide some excellent diamond experience and with the Overclocked CPU i may dare to say that in 75% of the cases runs as fast as the real HTC diamond ! i do own one so i can tell the difference. I was amazed at how you managed to make the menus and options look the same!!

PS: If you did such a great job without owning an artemis yourself i cant imagine what you could do if you had one to troubleshoot youself! I believe that after a couple of more beta roms we can safely say that the 250euros good ol' Artemis can be transformed into a 600euros Diamond! (ok ok without the VGA screen!! :P)

free ram for me is 22mb after reboot (connected with active sync).
and about 16mb after running tomtom7, music player, and various other applications and messing about for a few hours then closing all that stuff.

I changed the page pool size to 4mb instead of 8 though.

But its definitely not slow.

I've put in the Comm Manager from the Diamondis kitchen so wifi should work
I've set IE back as default browser
I'll make it 4 MB page pool to get more free ram.
Try to fix the QuickGPS but I have this same problem on Kaiser I don't know if it's something to do with the newer Builds because I used the same OEM this sommer on my kaiser and it worked like a charme.

there will be more changes ... I'm making roms for 7 devices now so I'm a bit bussy :D

This is a very annoying thing I have seen in many ROMs. It would be great if you can change this - and even greater if you could post how this can be changed so one could change it in other ROMs, too.

Otherwise great ROM, keep it up!!

On diamondish roms however at HTC home at the Contacts Tab the add contact displays the contacts in Sim. In many roms it appears like there are two Contacts apps. Or one which is called with different arguments. Also wi-fi is kinda messed up. I used YuE extraclean v10. and the comunications tab of Manilla doesnt respond and the Connection manager at Connection Settins Tab doesn't display wi-fi. it can be activated only manually. Right now i flash O2 shipping rom (which btw is by far the best factory rom around with aprox 50MB of free space and relatively fast) to try Manilla on it and see how it goes from there.

hey gullum, i dont know if it is happening just for me, but when i open a programme it automatically minimizes and the display goes back to the Home Screen. I have to maximize it before using it and its kind of annoying. Despite of these small bugs it is a nice rom, and keep up the good work.

Hi Gullum, I don't know if it's possible or not, or if it's a good idea or not, but i saw around in xda forum some thread about to put manila 2d file in a separate folder (eg. \programs\manila2d) instead of put all the stuff in the \windows folder... this seems to improve permorfance...

Another possible bug or maybe intended.

If you go to library from the music player you can select tracks and things work ok and when you go back you go to the normal full screen player. But if you close that. It won't continue in the music widget so you need to scroll away from music and then back and then it will search again and find the last song and continue.

This ROM is great I just downloaded beta 3 and Im impressed!! I lost my phone for 3 weeks at the HTC repair center. I got it today and directly I downloaded some OSes and this one looks great! Great job! If I find any bug or problem I will let you know.:)

I try this superb Rom also very promising. Just a few problems but nothing serious, Quick GPS do not want to download the ephemeris, impossible to activate the WiFi with Commanager. The most annoying is that I can not get the port GPS IGO8.
Do you have a solution?

I will follow the evolution of this ROM with pleasure, if you need help with testing please.

Activesync always seems to be running always for me as well dunno if that's supposed to happen. Although it does take some important ram space even when its not connected, and there by not needed.

Another thing i noticed that even after a day usage not being connected to the usb cable in the options menu it still says my battery is 100% full while this can't be correct. (Can someone check this and confirm this for his device, so its not just a bug with some software on mine).

Tomtom 7 runs fine on this end, i use SeaSGEE (just search XDA devs for it) to get the satellite info instead of QuickGPS. At my work i got a fix within 10 secs.

still in the process of testing this good Rom and I have some concerns, however.
When I paused device Audiomanager this cut, I am forced to listen music with the screen turned on (not practical for battery).
Always impossible to connect the GPS with my SPV M650 IGO 2008.

A small question, how can we have another application that Calendar.exe when you press the home page (eg Pocket Informant)?

I Attached a few pictures of the ROM. The available RAM is about 20k without Manila running and about 16k with Manila. The screenshot was made after installing some software.

I Think this is by far the best Rom I ever had on te device!! Thought of replacing the Orbit due to its slow processor but this Rom is incredible fast (even with 1 Exchange account [about 1.300 contacts] and 3 more IMAP accounts) so I can still use it. Only hope the speed does not come from insane overclocking but the battery is lasting extremely long so this should not be the case.

There are a few problems (Please do not post again that WIFI is not working!!) but 95% is running perfectly.
If you need to switch WIFI very fast (fater than using the Wireless Manager in Setting -> Connections) make a shortcut of wrlsmgr.exe (to be found in the WINDOWS folder) and place it in the WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\... Folder. Then you can put it on the Manila Programs Tab.

QuickGPS isn't workin either but SeaSGEE will do the job.

GPS is working, also TomTom. Manila is switching off if you use TomTom or Opera which seems to be normal and only frees up RAM (about 4K). It can be reactivated easily.

Google Maps is also working, I only could not figure out what I have to do to have the map centered when moving. GPS works with Google Maps.

As posted before, the contact manager used to add contacts to the People Tab does not show SIM contacts. I would highly appreciate it if this could be added.

Hi Just installed this ROM and I would like to say great JOB !

It is running smoothly, also with manilla 2D...

I have one main problem : When someone calls me and I see the dialer popup with Green or Red button to answer or ignoe, If I touch the green button, nothing happens and I loose the call...

Anyone experienced same issue?

Please let me know as this is quite important problem for me as Artemis is a phone after all :-)

Me too, but if you touch the real ask button, not the touchscreen, the real ask button of your artemis you can ask the phone.

Tried serveral m2d roms, and this one i like the best, had several different problems with the others.
TT7 runs great (and a must for me to run properly), not slider of TF2 that locks the p3300 when repeatability sliding from left to right , and it runs very fast andsmooth.

wonder what the final M2D is going to be, cause already like this one for sure even in beta status.

the black color is because of the tsk file I used... I now use a new tsk just use an other diamond tsk.. the camera 5.09 is working :D that's the camera from Nike... I'm also using an other FM radio now that looks much better. I think it's from touch cruse. but I'm trying to get the one from diamond working.

I Set up Gmail and Yahoo! IMAP Accounts without any problems. I am running 3 Accounts (Exchange, Gmail and Yahoo) without any problem.

Wouldnt SeaSGEE be better than QuickGPS? Its working already and better than QuickGPS in any way.

I have experienced several problems with the stability of Manilla2D. Every now and then it just "reboots" taking everything esle down, too. When I start Opera, the splash screen appears and opera stalls. When I try again opera starts and works fine. This happens with some other apps, too, can have acloser look if you are interested. Sometimes an application just stalls after a few seconds/minutes.
Has anybody else experienced this?
