Need help upgrading - really confused

Hey all,

I'm pretty new to the whole PDA world. The most I had was a Dell Axim X5 when they first came out, and all i did was play solitaire and SNES roms on it lol but now I have a Cingular 8125 G4 and all I want to do is upgrade it to WM6 and after reading through the piles of information on this site, I'm very confused on the instructions. It seems every post is different, and I don't know which to follow for fear of bricking my newly acquired phone.

Would anyone be able to help me out by directing me to a STEP BY STEP guide of how to upgrade my phone without bricking it? My IPL/SPL versions are 2.21.000 and GSM 02.25.11 and OS is 2.25.11.1.

You are in luck, I have made a full install guide with screenshots and all the programs that you need to install a ROM, except for the ROM itself.

First, is the IPL/SPL 2.21.000 or 2.21.0001,not the difference with trialling '1' at the end,if it s 2.21.000 only,then its a G3 device & not a G4,but if it has '1' at the end like 2.21.0001,it certainly is a G4.
So,if its a G3 read and follow this gide :-

But,if its a G4,than it can be upgraded through either 'SoftSPL or HardSPL,you can read about them in the G4 sub-Forum,or the guide posted by ashasaur

Is G4 2.21.000x G4?
Or G3 2.21 G3?
