After my third Hermes breaking on me (although this last one was actually my fault) I have decided to switch over to an Iphone for awhile. Does anyone know of any good websites for information on Iphone mods? Thanks for any help.

I'm actually enjoying it so far. I'm not quite as tech savy as some of you out there so it works just fine for me. Has most of the options I want and i didnt have to throw a bunch of tweaks at it to get them (yet anyway). As long as it doesn't break like my other three hermes' i'll be fine with it (even though i sorta broke the last one, it was already on it's way out with keys not responding). I'll give HTC a year or two to work out some of their issues and try an HTC phone out again then.

hackint0sh.org, in my mind, is the equivalent to iPhone's XDA-Developers. I haven't spent a ton of time on the site, but there's a lot of good info there.

That's why it's in the off-topic forum... Right place to ask, as lots of people on here are interested in pocket PC's and not just HTC devices. I don't JUST like HTC products, but in generalized forums you don't find nearly as much information about each device.

Thank you for the replies. Sorry to cause such a commotion, I really liked the support and friendliness (up until now anyway) of these boards and I was hoping to find that for my Iphone somewhere...

The issue is, about 99% of the users here don't care about the iPhone, which I'm sure you already know, but you can't tell me you expected anything different.

Yeah, I mean, why would he ever expect people on this forum to try to help him out even if it's not something they love? The issue is that the people who don't like the iPhone feel the need to force their opinions down others' throats, even when a simple question is asked in the correct forum. The original poster was 0% in the wrong here, all he wanted was the same support for his new phone. It's like everyone has told me since I've come here, if your post doesn't contribute to the forum, why are you posting? Do I love the iPhone? No. Would I ever buy one for myself? Hell no. Am I going to bash a kid for asking where to get support for his? No, I'll share what information I have and move on. I feel like your post is just condoning flaming people that have a different view than yours and saying it's okay to do... It's not.
Edit: Realized mod needed to move the thread, so the OP was 5% in the wrong... Now he's all set. :P

My first part was going to mention the moving of the thread, but I see you've noticed it. The point of the statement is, there are randomly iPhone threads that pop up here and there, and nobody wants to help with them, since it's the competition. My reply was not an open invitation for rude comments, just simply putting, if you ask a WM community about an iPhone, don't expect 100% help and participation like the rest of the WM threads.

The Samsung Omnia thread doesn't look right in an HTC forum, nor do the many threads of off-topic discussing the bible, or even the thread the guy made for his 2 year old daughter who's going through a really rough time... That's why it's the off-topic section, where you can find help for things other than HTC phones. Am I losing my mind, or is that the entire reason the creators of XDA-Dev came up with this section? I don't know about you, but I wanted to help the guy regardless of him owning an Apple product over HTC, that's why I posted relevant and useful information. Apparently people aren't here "just to help" like I originally thought this forum was about, they're here "just to help those who like our brand"... I missed the fine print.

I just don't like the selective discrimination here, it's okay to not help someone because it's an iPhone, but if someone comes asking for help with a Fuze unhelpful posts are frowned upon? The attitude of "you can't expect better" is one that holds the forum down, let's just try to be more helpful no matter what the topic.

Yeah I saw that, I think it's pretty sad... 6th graders have nothing better to do than try to put down things they feel threatened by. As I said I'm not a fan of the iPhone myself, but it's a good phone, and once some bugs are worked out (HTC never has bugs, right?) it'll definitely compete with the best. Also, when an iPhone has a problem you take it to an Apple store and they replace it at the Genius Bar with no problems if it's something they can't fix. If your Touch Pro has a problem? Get ready to ship it out and wait 2 weeks. Yellow spots on screens, fuzziness, not nearly as crisp as the Euro version's screen... Those are problems we've seen out of the box in the first week of the US version, and luckily they show up quick so they can be returned to the retailer. If you have problems with it in a month? Well, I hope you have a backup.

Ok I understand your point now mate
So you will understand mine also, it´s no matter of how good or bad is the iphone, it´s the fact that we are on an HTC devices forum.
Is like if I go to the Toyota forum and post how wonderfull is my Ford or if someone can recommend me a part.
HTC has a lot of bugs also but thanks to this fantastic HTC forum we can have and share so many ROM´s software and knowledge!
By the way HTC HD would really beat Iphone
Cheers

I'm so glad to know you became moderator! Because, as far as I've seen, the mods let discussions continue about other phones. They say they won't make a sub-forum for them, which makes sense, but discussion in off-topic about other phones (as you can see there are many threads about the Omnia in off-topic) are permitted. So until you get a little badge that says "moderator" or "administrator", I don't see why you feel you have the final say on others asking about different phones. In EVERY SINGLE THREAD that isn't about an HTC device you have to jump in and say why the thread shouldn't be there, yet the moderators who make the decisions allow it to be. Let them run the forum.
