Protocol: 26.69.30.05H
CE OS: 5.2.19214(build 20748.1.4.0)
General:
Several things are installed during customization. Please do not skip the customization.
AT&T users will find it already set up for use. Wait for the connection wizard to pop up and say NO. Then disable it on the next screen.
Non-AT&T users need to let connection setup run to set up your connection.
Hardspl 3.56 is recommended. (3.29 will work fine)
Manila version users MUST install a version of opera for the internet tab to work
Here for the newest (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442252)
or
Here for the stable builds (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401643)
Radios:
This ROM does not include a radio. This ROM requires a newer 6.1 Radio. For a list of compatible radios, check out AllTheWay's Ultimate Radio Thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182).I personally use 1.58.25.17
UC:
This ROM is UC Compatible. If you are not familiar with UC, check out the sleuth's thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366337)for details. PLEASE NOTE: UC runs automatically after Customization finishes, so it is normal to see the progress bar restart several times Your phone will automatically reset after a few seconds.

Dialer:
This is a modified version of the opal dialer to work with this rom. Thanks to Mbarvian for his work on the original cab. The skin was started by kidnamedalbert. I just added a few more graphics for landscape. The dialer is fully working as far as I know. I have it on my device. Please let me know of any issues.
Before installing put phone in airplane mode. Some also reccomend disabling cprog.exe as well. I did not and it installed fine.

aruppenthal,
First off, thanks for taking the time to cook this rom.
I just loaded it up, and so far so good. Seems pretty speedy. The splash screen is great (Liquid Match). Glad to see something other than black. Im growing weary of the whole diamond black stuff.
Going to load up all the normal apps and gps (TomTom6) and run the piss out of it for a while.
Will update this post as I go.

Well Ive been using for the better part of the day. Added my usual apps and tweaks.
Only problem I have found is with the backlight. If you have it off for any extended period of time (more than a few minutes) it wont turn back on with one press of the power button, first just flashes the screen, the second turns it on. I've heard of this in other roms, but Im not sure if someone has come up with a fix yet. I will have to search for that. Overall, a very clean, speedy, reliable rom. And at the end of the day I think thats what most people are looking for. I look forward to any newer or updated verision. Thanks again.
Thanks again for the rom and the mirror.

Thanks for the feedback. I have yet to find a major issue. I am running TomTom 7 with no issues so I would assume 6 will run fine as well. I kinda have to agree on the diamond concept. I have tried to get some color into the ROM. If you decide you dont like the boot screen there are some others posted as well as the same one with no logo. Let me know if you run into any issues and I will do my best to fix them.

Hi everyone,
At the first time, I didn't use the right HardSPL to up ROM, everything is not good at all (long processing, un-sensitive touch, etc.). But now, as I use RECOMMENDED HARDSPL to install that ROM - it's truly good - running very fast and working also smoothly.
Beside that, uptil now, maybe I have detected one BUG - It's WIFI CONNECTION. This function can't turn on by WIRELESS-MANAGER (the status of switch button is always OFF), but it still can use by using WIFI-MANAGER (Start -> Setting -> Connection -> WIFI). Even WIFI is actived, AUTO-DETECT fuction also doesn't work, just one way to setup WIFI - do it by YOUR HAND :D.
I hope it's just a problem with my phone - not this ROM.
Best Regards.

I've installed your WLFIXED.cab, now, the status of WIFI Switch button is can be ON or OFF and absolutely it works by right way! But, when I click "Setting" (menu at bot right of screen) -> choose "Wireless LAN" - nothing is present, no new-windows is shown - and it's a little bit problem in this ROM.

Hmmm ok Ill take a look at the cab. I got it working on my phone last night. It must be something missing in the reg settings. Ill upload a new fix asap.
EDIT:
Can you open the registry editor and go to HKLM->Software->HTC->CommManager->WLAN and tell me what the setting under (Default) is for you? The reg settings in the cab look fine. (you did soft reset after installing ?)
The value for (default) should be "\Windows\WLANsettings.exe"
I will cook a new version tonight if I cant find a quick fix for you. I was kinda holding on the next version while I decided if I wanted to update a few of the apps with Opal versions.

This is a problem with the base. It was in the pre release and the official releasse. I have yet to find a fix for it. I am guessing ATT couldnt figure it out either since its in the official as well.

My guess would be a bad download or old data from previous rom. I would flash stock then flash the rom again. I highly recomend flashing stock at least every other rom change. Then be sure to hard reset after you get to the press here to setup screen the first time. So far everyone has been able to load it no problem. If you still have any problems let me know.
I will most likely be uploading a newer version tonight or tomorrow.:)

I had the same problem. I have fixed it in the next version. The new patched dll will draw by zip or location code. I will upload version 2.0 tonight most likely. I am testing it now. If I have no issues it will be up by 8pm EST.
The new version has:
Patched Home weather
Updated Comm manager to opal
Redone Dialer Graphics
New Boot Splash
Updated Long Press End Key
Updated Mp3 Trimmer
New Home Task
and more.....

thanks for your help looking forward to the updated ROM. Also have you figured out the screen thing mentioned by another earlier. after the screen is off for a while when you press the power button the screen flashes and you have to press it again to turn on the screen. also is there a way to turn off the sound when you select stuff from the menu (the beeping noise it makes)?

With my past MDA (Wizard) it was mandatory to flash the stock rom in between cooked roms. If not it played hell with the new rom.. Havent noticed the problem with the kaiser, but its definetly better to be safe than sorry.
Also, the first time after flashing your new rom , when you finally get to the screen that says "complete, tap the screen...", do a hard reboot and follow the prompts.
This has solved some problems for me on the kaiser.

Frankly, I have to say that after I upload new ROM V2.0, my phone run slower - it's some delay when start every progams, even when I typing by Quety KeyBorad, it's take a bit time before present on display. Now I've downgraded to V1 with fixed cab - it's seem to be a better ROM than V2.
Anybody have same problem like me???

Part of that is due to more stuff being in the rom. I am beta testing a new version at the moment. I upgraded the camera and added HTC album. However I am not overly happy with the camera. I expect I will remove a few packages and downgrade the camera. Over then next few days I will post a newer version that should run as fast as version 1 did. If anyone has any suggestions regarding additions or subtractions from the rom I would love to hear them. :)

Is your city in the database?
What is it saying to you when you try to get the weather?
Who is your carrier?
Post a screenshot if you can.
EDIT: What city do you live in?

First open settings and go to the connections tab. open connections and manage existing connection and select the proxy tab. Make sure the box for "this connection uses a proxy" is NOT checked.
If the box was checked and you just unchecked it see if your weather wolrks.
If not:
Now go to Programs -> Tools -> Advaced config and open it
scroll down to HTC gome and expand it
It should contain
Location: Orlando, Fl
City Code: "your zip"
Do all of the above diconnected from your usb

I have a cab file to change a slew of the system icons, program Icons and the HTC Home Icons. If anyone would like to test it for me I would appreciate it. I cant hard reset today since I have to go out of town for work. If someone can test it and it works ok I will post a link. Please PM me if your up to the task. Just remember there is a chance it could cause you to have to hard reset. Also remember I am not sure it will be removable after installation.

The cab changes the start logo, settings icons, some program icons, and a few folder icons. I have PMed a link. Please remember I am not sure if the cab will uninstall. I have set it to uninstall but sometimes they still wont. If the cab dosent work for you you may have to hard reset. I have PMed the link to you. I am fairly sure the cab will work but I like peole to be aware there is a slight risk. :)
After you install the cab you will need to reset for the changes to take effect.

All seems fine. I noticed a few of the icon changes. I was wondering, is there a way to make the icon say 3G instead of H when I am connected? I dont even know if it does that on the stock ROM because I flashed on like day 2 of owning the phone. I dont know what all to test on here tho, it seems to work perfect for me.

It will only show 3g if its available in your area. Its just a faster connection than E or G.
As long as things look like in the screenshots above Id say it worked fine.

I am working on a working version with the opal dialer. There seems to still be a missing file to make it work perfectly. I have incorporated part of the dlls from the dialer into the rom already. I am in the process of decompiling all of the dlls from the opal dialer package to try and trace the dependencies. I have it where it looks like it should but it tends to lock up periodically.
I am hoping I can devote some real time to it this weekend. I will probably go to two versions once I get it working.
one for those that want the att dialer for the video share and one for those that want the Opal Dialer.

Regarding the Opal dialer, how can it be customized for other languages?
Otherwise it'll not be possible to use the contacts list (ie - use the smart dialing funtionality).
Also, could you please post some pictures of the application screens? Especially the screens that show the customizations that you've done (and that make this ROM special).
Thank you.

Several of us are still working on getting the Opal Dialer to work correctly. Once we get it to work right it should not be overly difficult to produce language packs for it. I will see what I can do if we get it working.
As far as what makes this rom special, In my opinion the thing that makes it most special is stabilty. I have done my best to make it as stable as possible. Take a look at release numbers. These numbers are assosiated with number of times I have cooked not with actual releases. this release is my 37th build.
I want it to be perfect. Unfortunately with all the people that have downloaded it I have received very little feedback.

I'm willing to assist in the translation process (sadly I can't do the technical stuff, only the linguistics).
Further, I shall certainly send feedback, should there be any.
I'll be away for a week, returning next Thursday, so if there's an appropriate/newer version - I'll install it.
Does this ROM support 3G? My cell provider has this capability.
Thanks.

It does support 3g but It does not support video calling for now.
We may be able to find a dialer language pack predone if there was a version of the original rom with your language. Once I get it working I will see what I can find. Its a looooonnnnggg process trying to figure out what the issue with the dialer are. There is something in the prexisting reg keeping it from displaying properly. It involves removing one reg key at a time reinstalling and resetting. Sometimes hard resetting after a try.
Unless someone points out a major flaw I cant take care of with a fix cab in the next few days I dont have a new release in the works yet.
Unless we figure out the dialer.

Hi,

Has anything advanced on this?
Thanks.
So far I have not found any bugs worthy of a new build. I have been working on custom manilla packages with the intention of possibly making a manilla version of the rom.
Even though I have accumulated over 1k downloads since v1 I have had basically no feedback to determine which direction I should take.
My original goal when I started was to have a highly stable rom that just works out of the box. I honestly think I accomplished that in the 3.7 build.

I have come to believe it is not easily possible to get the camera or the dialer to properly work on 19xxx roms. I will have to upgrade my next series to 20xxx base if I want to use these. I am still trying to see if I can find and port the dependencies to a 19xxx build and get it to boot.

Ive noticed the long boot. I am trying to see if there is something causing it. I have Igo running on mine now so I am not overly sure what the issue is there. Have you installed anything else before IGO?
Let me know if you run across any other issues.

No, IGO8 was the 1st app to be installed post flashing (due to the autorun in the 2577 folder).
I tried removing and reinstalling IGO8, didn't help.
I made a backup of the sd card (only I can't run it on another sd card, since it's legal, copy protected) and replace the files in the original card, and see whether it works. If not, I'll have to go to their offices next week.
Re the looong bootup process, do you have any idea whether it'd require a new ROM version? Because I don't want to flash and install everything, only to have to reinstall after a day or so.
Thanks.

I just went through the whole kitchen and havent found any issues regarding boot. Im going to flash the base rom and see if it was always slow and check the startup folder. If at all possible I will fix it with a cab. I hate making a new version to fix one minor issue. Ill keep you posted.

OK
I'll wait and reflash if it's release early enought this weekend, otherwise I'll have to wait till the next weekend.
But regarding the current version, the battery consumption is not good (using NIKI 1.65.29.22).
I left my tilt with 100% battery about 3 hours ago, now it's 94%. the only possible load during thsi period were some apps that might have updated dta using GPRS. There were no phone calls and the PDA was turned off during this whole period.
During the past 3 weeks I've tested a myriad of ROMs and radios, so I can compare the results.
For me, the best combination was ROM: ATT_NATF_v3.2.5_ATT_Home and Radio: Niki 1.65.29.22. This gave me 84% after 7 hours of light usage, using the same apps and the same update intervals (for the appropriate apps, eg newsbreak, sbsh pocket weather, email accounts).
Is there a way to measure the battery consumption in the background, and create some sort of log fle, to be analyzed later?
I know that this in itself (the constant sampling of the battery, by a background app) would in itself consume battery, but it would be a known constant in the equation.

May I suggest the following for the new build, to load the following apps to ROM, and so free up RAM space later on (this is, after all, the limiting factor in every PPC):
1. netcfg app (Microsoft .net configuration utility).
2. HTC CONNECTION SETUP 1.5.34564.cab so that it is located in the Start-Connections.
3. Enable Band Page CAB.
4. WM6.1SMTPfix.CAB (ButtonBoy's WM6.1 SMTP server fix, for fixing the outgoing mail problem in WM6.1).
5. HTC Action Screen.
6. Clear Temp CAB.
7. Soft Reset CAB.
Possibly load Google Search and the latest Google Maps to ROM.
And possibly also PIM backup v2.8 (I believe it's the latest) and Schaps' Advanced Config v3.3.
Thanks.

Band page should have been enabled. I will look into why its not.
I have never used the smtp cab you mentioned. If you would happen to have it please attach it and I will take a look at it. What exactly does this do?
HTC connection setup is already in the connections tab. It is also the updated version you mentioned.
I have not used action screen in a long time. However since youve given me more feedback than anyone I will see what I can do ;)
Google updates google maps so often I have avoided cooking it in. I could set it to install during customization so it is removable.
There is a app to test battery but I cant remember what its called. I think alltheway or p1tater would know. I have never had luck with the radio you mentioned. I have had best results with 1.58.25.17. Results vary with radios so much by location I cant really give you too much advice on which one to try. I can only say give a couple a try.

All those apps included and I missed them? Must be getting sloppy in my old age...
Possibly I looked for them in the wrong place (eg, in other ROMs I've tested, HTC Connection was in Start-Settings-Connections, and as far as I remember - this was not the case. But this is not significant).
Re the SMTP cab, it was created by an XDA member, to resolve a "critical" (as per MS) problem with WM6.1. Please see the following links, one gives keys to be added to registry manually, as well as the CAB. The other gives the formal MS explanation.

The main thing for me is how to get most of the apps I use daily (or have installed in my Tilt) to ROM rather than RAM.
I've seen many "clean" ROMs, that are so stripped of functionality, that I need to spend a lot more time after ROM flashing, in order to install the apps I like. And this leads to less free RAM. Given, having about 40MB of free RAM after everything is installed is not bad at all, but I think that the correct solution is to have all the relevant apps in ROM.
On the other hand, it IS a problem (for the cook, at least) if an application is frequently updated (eg Google Maps).
By the way, how can the notifications sounds volume be lowered? eg when receiving email. It's very loud. I like the sound, but imagine if I'm in the middle of a meeting with my Division manager and suddenly.... I know that the notifications can be set up so that there's sound and/or vibration. But I couldn't find how to lower the sound volume.
Re battery life with this ROM, maybe things aren't so bad after all. I began the test yesterday at 13:50, with 100% battery, and now (07:30) the following day it's at 79%. But during this whole time, usage has been extremely light (ie - check email every hour for 2 accounts, update RSS news every 6 hours, update PocketWeather every 12 hours, no phone call at all, no GPS, and the usual load created by the Tilt being in standby). I'll be able to tell more about this tomorrow, after I get back to work, and besides all of the above, there'll also be many phone calls.
[edit] I'm aware that the radio performance is dependant upon many factors. I've tried about 8 radios for battery performance, GPS TTFF and subsequent fixes, phone reception, and the best for me have been this latest NIKI as well as the EMO radio.

First I gotta say how much I appreciate the detailed feedback.
Connection setup should be exactly where you said. It also should have run immediately after the customization. If its not there that makes me wonder if the original upload didnt lose a few bytes and corrupt things a little.
Volume can be lowered as normal by clicking the speaker on the top bar or with SRSwowHD in Start Settings System at the bottom (just unclick enable)
Clear temp is in the programs Tools folder.
Ill read up on the smtp fix.
I am guessing It will take me a day or two to create all the needed packages. The new version I am running is much smoother and boot seems better. I would expect I will end up finishing Tomorrow if I dont run into any snags.

Not all the phone sounds.
And another suggestion - Please merge the contents of the GPS and Navigation folders in Start-Programs. One contains the QGPS app, the other contains the GPS Test utility. After all, they're both used for Navigation. This way the user won't have to needlessly search for GPS-related apps (I know it's a breeze to move the shortcut from one folder to the other using the File explorer).

You should only have a GPS folder. The only gps app I cooked in was quickgps. If you installed the new google maps it creates a new folder. Perhaps I can customize the cabs needed by users to uilize the folders cooked in.
With the new version I think I will add a optional UC package to install secondary apps automatically for users that want them.

Re Start-Programs folder, I always create additional folders in order to concentrate the apps per subject.
Basically, these folders are: Apps, Games, System, Tools, Navigation.
There're some folders that are automatically created during the installation process by some apps: SBSH Mobile software (PocketWeather), Spb Mobile Shell (obvious).
If I recall correctly, the following folders were created by the ROM installation: Tools, Apps, GPS, Internet, Multimedia, Navigation, Office Mobile.
BTW, I've never had the Navigation folder created by any app (you suggest as if Google Maps creates this folder).
The Start-Settings-Connections tab contains the following icons: Beam, Bluetooth, Connection Setup, Connections, Domain Enroll, GPRS Setting, USB to PC, Wifi, Wireless Lan, Wireless MAnager, WModem Modem.
I think all of these were created by the ROM installation.

I just have a GPS folder. However I could easily rename it to Navigation if this is more desireable.
The newest google maps creates a folder called Addons. I actually find it quite annoying lol. I will probably change the install folder to navigation if I offer it as part of the optional addon pack.

These are good ideas.
The 1st one reminds me of an app I used long ago, which was used to install cabs, and allowed the user to define the folder where the app would be installed. Can't recall the name, though.
Re the 2nd idea, there's a tool which I currently use, for automated installation (Sashimi). The thing is, how can I get my apps to ROM rather than RAM? This would be like flashing a splash image, or a different radio, so it would go into ROM in addition to the apps already flashed there by your ROM, won't it? I don't have any experience in ROM cooking, so this could be completely off-base.
Is there any limitation to the type of apps that are loaded into ROM?
Theoretically, I could give a cook the list of apps that I use, have a "customized" ROM created, and then only register all those apps?

Any app can be cooked in provided it can be turned into a package. I have run into a couple that cant.
So yes it is quite possible. However one thing to consider, any app udated often should probably not be cooked in.

My PC crashed 2 days ago, I'm still trying to recover w/o formatting the HDD. Everything is always backed up, but I'm trying to avoid the hassle of reinstalling WINXP and all the SPs, Office, etc... :-(
So it seems I'll be able to install v4 only this weekend.
FYI, I've tried several radios with your ROM, and the EMO gives me the best GPS TTFF (1.65.29.22 second, a little worse), 1.65.29.22 gives me the best battery life (EMO a very close second) and 1.70.19.09 is the worst of all three on both counts (GPS TTFF is VERY bad).
I know that radio performance is region/cell provider dependant.

Try a different radio. Ive had that echo problem with other roms before and a different radio always fixed it.
The v4 rom boots a bit faster. Most of the longer boot seems to be because everything is loading before the today screen comes up. The rom itself feels pretty good as far as speed goes. I dont foresee worrying to much about boot unless one of the other chefs can give me some insight on a easy way to fix it.

I have no issues at all with skyfires newest version. I dont know alot about t mobile connections. Do they use a proxy? Try running the disable hidden proxy cab attached and then run connection setup or your settings cab again. Hopefully this will get rid of your issue. If this does not fix the issue and you are otherwise happy with the rom I will dig deeper and find a solution for you.
I urge you all to leave some feedback.

It will let you customize most options. Check out the skins thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425974)in development and hacking if youd like to try a new skin.
If your new to manila I reccomend you check out the various threads in the development and hacking thread on how the customizer works. It will save you some headaches if you have any layout problems. I can help too if needed.

I wanted to ask for recommendations regarding HardSPL for this ROM.

I've seen recommendations to use emonk's (?) 3.29 patched.

I had a hard time getting GPS fix also with GPS Test.
The best GPS TTFF I've had with the Tilt was about 40 seconds, with subsequent fixes of seconds, This was with NATF's ATT 3.25. I haven't had under 1 minute GPS TTFF with other ROMs.
I always load AGPS data prior to the test.
The basic test I do is just after flashing a new ROM, when the system is uncluttered. I load APGS data, install GPS Test and IGO8, and go out into my yard,in order to perform the test.
But back to the results under 3.29.
I'm still trying to find the linkage between the various s/w components (ie ROM, radio, HardSPL).
Tonight or tomorrow morning I'll test GPA performance again, and if it's still bad, I'll reflash 3.56.
I've read reports in XDA that there's a 3.29 Hard2 version, that supposedly performs very well ( a version hacked by cmonx), but I'm really hesitant to install such a basic system component that is hacked.

GPS TTFF was a bit over 1 minute. Not the fastest I've had.
My experience with AGPS (on WM6) is quite the opposite - it certainly speeded up the GPS acquisition.
This has changed in WM6.1.
I've read in XDA that WM6.1 doesn't use AGPS. Certainly it's one additional "feature" by MS............
In my case GPS Test doesn't always speed up GPS acquisition, since it also has trouble finding those darn GPSs...
The thing is that can't put my finger on the factors influencing GPS.
At the moment I'm completing automated installation of all my cabs using Sashimi.
The only app I can't get to be installed is SPB Backup.

I talked to a few other chefs. It seems that the rom loads everything before the today screen comes up. The rom loads all the icons and graphics during boot. Unless I change base roms I dont think i can get the boot down any shorter. As long as the base stays speedy during operation I am not going to stress too much over the boot. I like the idea of adding windows is loading. I have actually been thinking about changing the match screen. I will include it in the update cabs.
I have added several differnt alternatives for the very first boot screen (the vegas sign) in the third post. If you have a different one than I have available and would like me to add it to the optional changes I would be happy to. Almost everyone has a personal favorite so I will probably leave it to the user. An alternative is to not include a splash at all and the one installed will remain when flashed.

OK
I installed the 3.29 by monex, will test it out throughout today.
But I've had several hangs this morning while reinstalling everything, don't know whether it's related.
Re the band cab:
I installed the original one I have been using w/o any issues till this ROM, but now am unable to save the settings at GSM (initially the band showed AUTO, but I'm in a GSM area most of the time, do I always change it to GSM, to conserve battery, otherwise it'll keep searching).
The app hangs for about 3 minutes, then gives me the following error message:
"Warning: Unable to change GSM/UMTS band, please try again later".
The only way to exit is by SR.
I installed the CAB provided by you, and it worked (I reinstalled and it did not require an SR. But neither did my CAB).
I had no issues at all with my CAB, until this version.
Could it be it has something to do with monex's SPL?
The 2 cabs are the same size.
Bottom line, the Band cab now works (yours), but this is strange.
I reflashed this morning, tested GPS TTFF with IGO8, after refreshing AGPS, and w/o using GPS Test. Acquisition time was almost 1 minute, not bad (not the best I've had, but not bad).
Re the Navigation folder that I wrote you about a few days ago, it turns out it's created by GPS Test. It wasn't there after I flashed the new ROM, and it was there after I installed GPS Test. So mystery solved.
Re long boot times, about a week ago I tried out Athine w/o Manila, I have a feeling (since I did not measure it) that load times are shorter. With your ROM it takes well over 2 minutes (I think almost 3 minutes. This is not reasonable).

Then I'll d/l AGPS and test GPS TTFF with IGO8).
Then I'll backup, perform an HR and the then same test (with a completely clean system except IGO8.
I don't want to use GPS Test as a benchmark, since it's just a utility, and my day to day NAV app is IGO8.
Then I''ll flash the 3.56 SPL, measure again the boot times and GPS TTFF.

Performed SR.
Measured the time from pressing the SR button till the 1st splash screen appeared, then the time until the "windows match" appeared, then the time the little round clock appeared until the Today screen was filled.
Test began at 18:51:45.
The "windows match" screen appeared at 18:52:22, that is after 37 seconds.
The round clock (don't know what else to call it) appeared at 18:53:30, that is after an additional 1 minute and 8 seconds. So up to now, total net boot time was 1:45 minutes (please check my math!).
The Today screen was filled at 18:54:00, that is after 30 seconds.
I checked the settings I gave in Schaps Advanced Config, Splash Screen. The settings were:
MS timeout on startup: 10000
Carrier timeout on startup: 10000
(both values were initially 30000).
Now regarding GPS TTFF.
Immediately after SR, I refreshed AGPS and started IGO8.
I began measurement immediately after IGO8 got to the map screen, and I went straight to the GPS icon, where IGO enables you to see how many sats are locked.
Test began at 18:55:40.
IGO8 got a fix at 19:06:44, that is after 11:04 minutes (incredible, this is possibly the worst ever I've had).
I then permormed another SR and started GPS Test at 19:30:30. Fix was obtained at 19:44:00, that is 13:30 minutes!

That is by far the worst gps fix ever.
I am using a new sys for the new rom so hopefully gps fix will be faster. I would also like to see if a different radio changes your results. Some developers say gps fix is related to radio and some say it is not.

Performed Clear Storage.
Allowed customization to complete and performed SR.
Test began at 20:05:30.
The "windows match" screen appeared at 20:06:12, that is after 42 seconds. Longer than on the previous test.
The round clock did not appear this time, but the Today screen appeared at 20:07:09, that is after an additional 57 seconds. So up to now, total net boot time was1:39 seconds, slightly lower than the previous test (1:45 minutes).
So now we know that whatever s/w I installed, did not affect the boot process.
Now to the GPS test.
Immediately after SR, I refreshed AGPS and started IGO8.
I began measurement immediately after IGO8 got to the map screen, and I went straight to the GPS icon, where IGO enables you to see how many sats are locked.
Test began at 20:20:49.
After over 13 minutes, I still did not obtain a fix, so I stopped the test, and did not perform the test with GPS Test.

Well, in my experience, the radio does affect GPS and battery performance. But it is conjunction with the ROM, as well as too many other parameters.
This is what makes this so elusive.

I flashed hardSPL 3.56 and performed a Clear Storage.
Allowed customization to complete and performed SR.
Test began at 20:55:45.
The "windows match" screen appeared at 20:56:20, that is after 35 seconds.
The round clock did not appear this time, but the Today screen appeared at 20:57:20, that is after an additional 60 seconds. So up to now, total net boot time was 1:35 seconds.
So now we know that the HardSPL does not affect the boot process in a significant way.
Now on to the GPS test.
Immediately after SR, I refreshed AGPS and started IGO8.
I began measurement immediately after IGO8 got to the map screen, and I went straight to the GPS icon, where IGO enables you to see how many sats are locked.
Test began at 21:01:05.
GPS fix was obtained at 21:06:50, that is after 5:55 minutes, a very long time, but significantly lower than with the cmonex 3.29 SPL.
This very long TTFF is not normal, but on the other hand, after HRs, I did experience long TTFFs with IGO8, even with WM6 ROMs.
Just to emphasize, Part III was performed with a clean system (besides IGO8, which was required for the test).

I love that new youtube app from diamond but u need flash 3.1 cooked or the only version of flash installed for it to work right. Man, i got so happy finally seeing a new full rom with htc home too. I love dynamic pagepool, works great everytime. Is there anyway maybe u could pm a download link to this flash 3.1? I need a way to completely delete the flash thats already on it then install flash 3.1, im sure u already know that though. Why did u choose the older flash version? Thanks for the quick response! Pics and apps look good but id say get a nicer dialer, that one reminds me of how my tilt came factory, God i hated that. Maybe try the newer opal dialer. It has a dynamic pagepool.
The flash I used was 3.1 but it is missing a mui file so ill have to patch it or recook it. The youtube app included works perfect though.
I can cook a version with a fixed 3.1 in the morning. Ill post it first thing tomorrow.

Great for us att users since it doesnt have video calling but offers everything else. Not sure if it has smartdialing. If not then id say go with a smart dialing phone app since thats usually a must for all. Dual touch dialer is tried and true and even has video dialing for those who use it. I had to remove some of the dlls that were already incorporated into the rom. I also edited a few of the dlls to work correctly on the 19214 base. If someone installed it on another rom they would most likely have to hard reset.
I hope the home version is the one you wanted with 3.1 :)

Nice touch, love the graphics you included throughout the rom! Even the htc home weather is cool, never seen it like that before. Been running it all day today installing all my usual cabs and running them and all is good. Love the opal dialer too! Now for the bad:
1. Has the old problem of no htc home music tab. Yes its there from scratch when u first flash the rom but if u use hhc (which im sure we all do) and take away the profile and launher tabs leaving the other 4 available, theres now no music tab. I remember there was a simple reg edit to fix this but havent seen this problem in a rom in quite some time.
2. No CLeartype in landscape or ie. Now i understand this if u have the omna drivers or that d3d crap thats useless to us tilt users but i dont think this rom hs these drivers installed. You can talk to Garmin since he found a way to get Cleartype working in these new 6.1 roms if you dont know how.
3. This is just more annoying than a bug but why is there a bluetooth icon on the top bar when its turned on? I mean, i know why but have never ever seen it on any cooked rom and probably best left out. Is there anyway to get the annoying bluetooth icon go away for good? I know my bluetooth is turned on by the flashing blue light on my phone, dont need an extra icon there.
These are the only bugs i could find so far and these are very small bugs and just more annoying than probably bugs. These im sure can easily be fixed making this a perfect htc home based rom! Anyway to fix these bro? Also, anyway to make ur opal dialer version universal to work n other phones or roms? Thanks. Ill test some more now, havent tried video or youtube yet. Overall though, very speedy rom and stable.

Heres a real bug. Ive got a few jpeg files that i switch between for my background images. Well, usng file explorer u select and hold down on theimage u want, window pops up with options, one option is set as background, when u choose this option on any other rom a new window pops up displaying the image and asking how much transparacy u want, well this rom doesnt. It just sets it at default ugly transparency and dosnt let u choose. Another weird bug for me, maybe its just the application, is when u click on an image file this black and white/grey screen appears saying no imag to display. I think this is the phones camera app, why is it opening image files. So now to open and view an image file i need to click on the image, go to this screen telling me theres no image, click left tab saying album, then choose the path where the image is, oh now it finds it. What happened to just clicking on the image and its displayed? Maybe this image app bein used isnt for this rom or phone since it doesnt make any sense to me. So may steps you hve to go through to view an image instead of the good old fashion click on it and see it.

1.The HTC Home problem should have been gone. I was sure that this was a 6 tab version. Its the home from diamond. Overwriting it with a cab should fix it. I can zip the icons if you like them and want to use them with a different version. I will use a different version in the next build.
2. I dont think I can get cleartype working with a base under 20xxx. Ill see if garmin can answer for sure.
3. There is a reg edit to get rid of that BT Icon but i cant remember it right off. Ill dig it up and post it.
EDIT: the BT icon is in one of the dlls I had to cook in for the dialer. I dont think I can easily disable it.
EDIT: I might know a way but i left my flash drive at work. Ill see what i can do in the morning.
I can make a version of the dialer but heres the issue:
1 the rom must have a build over 20xxx
2 the rom must have the carrier dialer removed.

I have never used the default file explorer on any rom so this is a tough one.
Do you use the default file explorer?
Does it show the name of the app it is opening on the top bar?
Do you know if this worked on the original 19214 roms?
Any chance of posting a screenshot of the black and grey window?
Is this is an option in the new file explorer extension? Let me find the cab and see if it fixes it for you.
If not it could be the Full Screen Player or Album Packages.

Heres a pic of using fle explorer after finding my image. As u can see when u hold down the stylus on the image file u get this window in the image below. Now after selecting set as background image on ever rom ive ever seen or used theres a new window that comes up to let u set the transparency percentage of the image. Unfortunately for some reason this rom doesnt do that and sets the image at a faint transparency by default. Heres a pic of that black/grey ad white screen. When u select an image file (doesnt matter what file explorer app u use) this window comes up instead of the image or jpeg file. I always use resco explorer 2007 no problems but sometimes use regular default file explorer. I want to set an image to the background but cant successfully. Even after going to settings-today-checking box for use this image for background-then clicking browse, no jpeg files sow up.
I can live with the bluetooth icon if i have to since i love this dialer and rom! Im sure the ceartype is an easy fix along with a reg edi for the htc home audio tab to appear.

Yeah, thats what im thinking bro. Took some tylenol so im back. Please put the pictures and video back in to work properly, this is just a headache. U have a great thing goin here bro and see plenty of talent but just gotta polish it up a bit. Fix the picture problems, mabe cleartype or implement d3d stuff if u use that, whatever other bugs i found but forgot off the top of my head. This rom is very fast and stable, just needs to be polished up and get the finishing touches done. Oh yeah, see whats up with the music tab. Did you disable home to install the cab?
Did changing the theme let you use the music tab?
I am cooking a new Home Version (5.1) after I get off work and go vote.
The new version has:
Fixed 6 tab HTC home (I Hope)
Picture fix integrated
opera removed
If any other bugs pop up before this evening I will fix them as well.
I cannot remove the bluetooth status icon. It breaks the add on dialer if I remove it.
Landscape cleartype will not be included until I get the time to rebuild with a higher XIP.
Manila version will be updated once I get signifigant feedback. So far the only known bug is the pic issue which is easily fixable with the cab.

I'm having problems with erratic behavior of the volume icon.
I'm still on the previous version (I think v4).
When I enter a meeting, I press the speaker icon and change it to vibrate.
Many times I see that it automatically changes to silent.
Also, the volume settings somehow change to a lower setting than the one I selected (ie - I leave it at 100 and afterwards I find it at say 60%). This could be due to my inadvertently pressing the volume wheen, but I'm not sure about this.

Re v5, I'll wait a couple of days for the above issues to be resolved before flashing it (I finally got my PC back last night).
Any volume issues are fixed in the new v5.
It is completely different build.
After tonights 5.1 Home Version update I think the Home version should be pretty solid.
So far manila is solid other than a laggy opera build.

HAve to say this is a great ROM. Coming from Hyperdragon III I was sceptical as most roms just don't compare. Using the Manilla version and very happy with it...GREAT JOB!!! Good to see the Americans can still make a good rom.....
Only bug I located was that the Internet Explorer Icon in the front when initially pushed comes up with an error....I just changed the button to open Opera and fixed the problem....
Just letting you know!

Honestly, its hard to give a recomendation regarding radio. I have the best luck with the 1.58. A friend of mine has a tilt in the same city and hates the 1.58 radio. Location Rom and device play big roles in radio. The best I can tell you is give it a try. If you dont like it try another.
I encourage everyone to post their results with radio and battery so we can possibly determine the best choices.:)

This cab should fix HTC home tab issue
You may need to diable home and reboot to install.
Nevermind, this cab works. DOwnloaded it again a second time and installed fine. After soft reset the audio player tab is still not there but after using hhc with this cab and selecting the audio tab active, all is good. Thanks!

No that was the pic fix from version 5. I forgot to take it down after I finished uploading. The only flaw ive found in 5.1 is i forgot to move the att ringtone to the rings folder. Anyone that actually wants it will need to move it from windows to windows/rings

Thats entirely up to you. The only major fix is the backlight fix that HTC posted on the 30th. You can download a cab for it at the HTC site if your not up to reflashing. I am having better performance on 5.1.

I have not had any issues with contacts nor does anyone else I have heard from before now to my knowledge. If you have contacts on your sim , I have hiddedn sim contacts. If not you probably should flash to stock and start over. At least every other flash everyone should flash stock before reflashing a cooked rom. Contrary to belief everything is not completely erased when flashing.
All old roms can be found in my 4 share.

Sorry to hear the boot is a deal breaker for you. The boot of this rom is 18 sec slower than the stock base was so I dont consider that too bad with all I have changed and added. Sorry I couldnt suit your needs.
With less and less chefs in the kaiser forum I kinda figured if I wanted a rom to my taste it was time to get in the kitchen. Check back in a few versions. I may add a lighter version with a speedy boot :)

How is this compared to other ROMs?
I imagine that the boot time is dependant upon the number of apps loaded to ROM?
If so, this is one benefit of "light" versions. The downside, of course, is that there versions need to be loaded anyway...
But I'm curious to know whether there's any difference in boot time between these 2 options (ie - a fully loaded ROM vs. a "light" ROM where the same apps are subsequently loaded).

More you load, slower it will boot. It is true also for a lite rom after its loaded with all your applications. If you dont use many, then definitely a lite ROM will load faster than a fully loaded one. But ofcourse it all depends on what you mean by lite too!

Makes sense.
There are plenty of very popular "light" roms nowadays, but to call them bare bones ROMs would be very generous. So those chefs boast about "speedy ROMs", but what about functionality?
The question is, how fast does this ROM load compared to an equivalently "loaded" one. Besides the number of apps, what else influences the boot time?
I just flashed the new version (incl. Flash 3.1) and shall begin loading up my apps soon.
Doesn't this new app include an initial splash screen? Because I see that the Clownfish I used was retained. I do see the new burning match screen, though.
I also see that I still need to do a long press on the power button in order to avoid the screen flash following powerup.

That is not a myth. Jockyw2000 and GSleon3 have even explained in full why this is the case. Not all blocks are completely overwritten in a reflash. Flashing back to stock helps. Hard resetting after a flash also helps this. I will try to dig up the posts fully explaining it.
Makes sense.

The more i cook the more I change my personal opinion on what slows down boot. The registry seems to be a factor. A good clean registry without useless strands seems to help. Graphics seem to be another big one. I can pull out the MUI with a big chunk of my graphics and speed boot by 20sec. The quantity of apps that load at startup and how much memory they use seems to be most of it. I remember reading a post about it a long time ago. I wish I could find it. I have searched high and low trying to shave some time off my boot.

You do understand that this statement is self-contradictory? Either the EEPROM is completely flashed or not. The ROM to be flashed has no "memory" of the physical block in memory where it's to be flashed, now does it? It doesn't care either way...

I rebuilt my kitchen today and took a new approach to all of the OEM packages. I am beta testing a new rom now that seems to be much much faster. Only a few complaints this time.
1. Why is it everytime i connect a call via blutooth or speakerphone or at all the phone does a quick vibrate? Ive always had my phone on vibrate with many roms and never had this happen. Its happened everytime with this rom and the previous v.5 rom. Is it the opal dialer that does this? My phone is set to vibrate but i dont understand why it does a quick vibration when the phone call connects when im calling someone, very odd and kind of annoying.
2. I dont know if this is just me but while at the gym today with my bluetooth headset listening to music on my phone via audio tab/audio manager, the sound is crap. I dont know if its the version of audio manager or if u forgot a plugin or what. The song will have the background music super loud and the vocals low, then maybe 20-30 seconds later the opposite, stuff like that. Im pretty sure its not my headset since ive been using it for awhile now with many roms and never had any issues like this before.
3. Every now and then the phone shows the wait cursor for say 10 seconds for no reason. I could just be looking at the screen and the wait cursor sometimes randomly pops up and does its thing for 10 seconds then goes away. This has happened on both roms as well. I havent installed any unusual cabs or apps than i normall do so not sure what would randomly cause this to happen.
Other than all that, this is a very nice slight upgrade from version 5. Still fast and stable and love ur icon set and the windows mobile 7 style u got going here. Keep up the good work bro!

i had a manilla rom a few days ago on my device and there is an option to disable the vibration on call connect. In your dialer (opal dialer, hit the call button to bring it) go to options/settings and uncheck the box that says vibrate on connect. don't remember the exact route i took but it is there for you to change as you need.

Since you have flashed them all, you must realize that any loaded version from other chefs or even the stock OEM from ATT with a lot of bloat wares will boot faster than any of the cooked ROM here. The cooked ROM here is slow to boot without any app installed by the user yet.
It wasn't a criticism. The point here is to give feedback to the chef so he will look and see what the problem is. The slow boot might or might not effect the performance of the phone. The point of cooking ROM is to get a lot of performance out of it compared to a stock ROM. It's very slow without any apps install. I can't imagine how much longer it will take to boot if I have installed all of the apps that I need.

Well the funny thing is I have a ton (over 20 apps) of stuff installed and the boot never gets longer. However, it never get shorter.
Thanks for answering the vibrate question thesire.
I think the cursor is related to activesync. Keep an eye on your task manager and tell me if activesync is always running. If it is I will have to ask around how the others are fixing it. I know some have had same issue.
The audio manager is driving me crazy. Ive fixed it 3 times and it still has issues. I think I might change to a older build if I cant figure out a fix. Were you playing mp3?

Every single rom ive ran has activesync running in the bckground for whatever reason but never noticed this wait cursor. Yes it is running in the background. Yeah, go with an older more stable audio manager bro. Not sayin u but lots of chefs think the newest version of something is better than an older just cus its new, thats obviously not the case most of the time. I use an older version of esmertic java cus all the new ones when i minimize the window, then bring it back up, the java app is now frozen. The older version of esmertic java i always use doesnt have this issue like all the new ones and have never had a problem with it. Just an example. Yeah, mp3 files. GLad its not just me. Like i said though, other than these few things im lovin this rom! Using the emo radio with 3g/hspda everywhere full bars and gps lock under a minute here in southern california.

Hi all,
If you use dotfred's task manager to look at the notifications you will see some associated with "repllog.exe" which is the application behind ActiveSync. If there is a notification for this app entitled "AppRunAfterTimeChange" then disable it. This avoids having to unselect the the auto time change box in the Clock and Alarms applet.
Hope this helps. I've managed to stop AS launching, thanks to exs.fake.com
Cheers,

Ok this is carrying on I was giving the chef a compliment outside of the ridiculous and numerous complaints about it boots slow which does not reflect the roms over all performance. I have over 20 additional apss installed as well as M2DC with many themes and my Tilts performance is great. And yes the chef does need feedback but dont u would think he knows his rom boots a lil slow... well u get the point so please keep the rom dev. a place for positive advancement not trivial complaints of boot time. Everyone wants a hot meal but cant wait for it to cook. So chef whatever youve done that is causing this rom to boot longer is working and well worth the wait

Which version are you using?
I had great results with the home version. No lag at all. I did have some lag with the manila version.
I rebuilt my kitchen today and took a new approach to all of the OEM packages. I am beta testing a new rom now that seems to be much much faster. Once I play with it for a few days and iron out any issues I will release it. I am hoping to make version 6 a final release for awhile as I will be very busy at work until Dec 14th.
I skinned M2D in the next version and added the 2 page weather by beyondinvisible.
The version is rre20748v5withflash31, with 1.65.29.22 NIKi radio and 3.56 HardSPL.

Duh, so a feedback is considered to be a complain now? Even aruppenthal acknowledged there is a problem and will try to fix it in his next version. Without users' feedbacks the chef won't be able to know if there is any bug. Without users' feedbacks, you will probably still use the beta version, not the fixed, update version after the bugs reporting. So please keep the rom dev. a place for positive advancement not trivial complaints... will means that nothing will get improve because every feedback is trivial complaint to you.

not sure why u want to go back and forth I want to see a faster boot time just as much as u or anyone else does. As for u and anyone else that has this misconception, boot time is not a "bug" and is very apparent which is why it is no longer feedback at this point is just more users confirming they too have the apparent long boot time as if our very active chef missed or overlooked this ... but on another note I look foward to see how ur next rom compares to this 1 mr. chef; only room for improvement seems to be the apparent need in increased boot time as well as the time to open \windows which probably go hand-in-hand i did notice a few unecessary folders in there

Wish i could update to your new 5.9 rom but stuck on 5.1 now. Plugged my phone into my usb cable as always to the computer, icon does its thing showing its trying to connect on the desktop, then get an error saying it cant connect and go through the processes. Been wasting over an hour of my day trying to get my dang phone to connect to my computer, no deal. Running windows xp. Never had this problem before and have tried everything to fix it and still nothing.

There is also a cab for tytn II layout fix on the forum. Its basically the opposite of the tilt fix. The reason they are off is this was based on a Tilt rom. The Tytn II keboard fix should solve it. Ill see if i can find it.
EDIT: Hmmmm only one i can find right off is the alex version. I know there is another one too. I made no changes to the keyboard so I am not sure why it wont install. Ill see if i can find a fix for you. Maybe one of the other overseas users can provide some insight.

lo dude,
great rom, my only concern is i can't use arabizer for some reason it says unsuccessful although it installs ok on most roms out there like hyperdragons'.
it would be a perfect rom for me if it works.
keep up the good work dude.

Ill try to get in touch with some of the other chefs and see what they are doing to make arabizer work. I know for sure laurentius found a way. Can you attach the cab or provide a link to it?

i also had the same problem with the arabizer in this ROM and other roms
I am using Fejebi instead :)
but in general i would prefere to use Arabizer as Fejibi keeps chaning the regional settings every time the phone reboots
this ROM is the best so far :) it is fast and less load than other roms
well done aruppenthal
