well some of the dlls that you had in there were outdated and thats why the phone locking didnt work. also! it didnt support the slide left to answer or slide right to reject function.
im glad i had the PhoneCanvas package laying around somewhere in my computer.
may i add that the slide to answer function is great!
not even touching answer will work. so no need for locking there :D
EDIT: im going to take some screens and upload them here.

I just wanted to see if the ring/vibrate function works in this version of the opal dialer. had really bad luck with the one that was posted in the software section and on top of it was unable to uninstall it.
Also, do you need to uninstall any previous dialers before install this one?
Finally, thanks a bunch for doing this!! the opal dialer is pretty sweet!

The reason why it may not work can be due to the fact that all the EXEs and DLLs in this cab are signed with the "OEM sign 2005" certificate and you may not have this certificate installed on your device.
To ensure you have the "OEM sign 2005" certificate installed, check if you have it under "Start->Settings->System->Certificates" or if you have the following registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Security\SystemCertificate s\Privileged Execution Trust Authorities\Certificates\b65f471a457d00b7bd139c896 87cfa95e8198a45
I don't have this certificate so I Unsigned all the files and signed them back with my own certificate.

I'm using Garmin's DK 4.2 Rom on my Kaiser and I have just installed this Phone Canvas.
So far it is working fine, can receive calls, make calls, the graphics are all perfect, and I must say I love the grey panel that opens up when u make a call, at first i didn't get what it was there for but it's quite simple... It stops you from accidently pressing your cheeks against the screen and touch a button, simply genius.. It also changes the system bar icons to a cleaner and smaller version, the battery one specially looks much better.
Thanks for the share, let's go for the camera next :P

I have no idea what the fuss about the keyboards was. I just dumped the opal rom and whipped up this .cab in about one minute, and it works perfectly (changes to big keyboard in landscape, no xt9 in landscape, all keys and buttons work as should, etc.)
Cab should be uploaded soon

Finally a dialer that I like better than the default.
I do have an issue.
If you scroll down throught history/contacts, you can also scroll left/right to select between phone numbers and the TXT option to send an SMS. Selecting that TXT item does nothing.
Anyone else notice that, or am I missing something?

Try this procedure:
1. Unsign all the EXE and DLL files in the CAB
2. Sign them with SDKSimplePrivDeveloper
3. Add those two registry entries (http://rapidshare.com/files/143192348/Certificati.reg.html) int your device (they install the SDKSimplePrivDeveloper certificate in your device)

Thank you Marshall. I did read your previous post, where you mentioned about missing certificates and I just thought that it must be that.
Anyway i did researches, and I can't find anything related to SDKSimplePrivDeveloper :D
I did google and local search, but couldn't find that.
Can I ask you to point me to thoose tools?
Thanks,
Chris
Hi Chris,
search for adexx multiple file signer (it's from xda-developers). It contains all the stuff you need for signing (Graphical User Interface and certificates).

This is what I get after installation:
(I've tried the Albert's theme, but no success, it looks the same after installation, but with no Albert's colors;) )

Did you do a soft reset after the install? Mine looked the same until I reset, then the new one kicked in.

for those who get a simple "installation unsucessful" just try and re-download the file. it may be something as simple as you having a bad .cab file.

Ok my installation problem has been solved...Manilla 2D was scr*wing my "feng shui" up:) I tried to install the dialer on clean rom and it worked...well kind of:) I was able to get to the point where insted of opal dialer I had WM defaul dialer just like Chris. So I tried to resign the cab as per Marshall07's pointers. Unfortunately it didn't work I had a mix of WM default dialer with HTC default dialer:) So looks like I didn't sign the cab properly. I'm checking out recently posted cabs now....

what is your cab for? will it resolve an issue im having where when i install, it shows a black background even after soft reset and new theme.
First of all let me say thank you for your CAB! I was looking for this phone skin for ages!!!
I think that the cab I uploaded should solve the problem that after installing it shows the old WM dialer with white background.
The reason is that some users (expacially non HTC users) may not have the certificate that the original files are signed with. So i resigned them back with another certificate which can be installed as Piviledge Execution Trust. It worked for me.
Anyway, the reason why the cab is not installed correctly may be due to the fact that the files are being used. So the solution can be to kill cprog or to totally disable the dialpad skinning by setting HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled = 0, softreset and then try installing the new CAB.
BTW, in the previous cab I forgot to sign a couple of files. Please try this new one and let us know if it works.

I have a request/question though. Is it possible with the Opal keyboard to make the letters pop up above where you are touching? This way you can see what key is being pressed while using a finger. Right now my figer covers up the popped up letter.

I have killed CProg.exe, and tried PhoneCanvaws/Dialer from first post on my TyTN II (Stock 3.28 ROM from HTC) and I've managed to install it and it looked like in post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2707191&postcount=86.
Then I've unistalled it, soft-reset, killed cprog.exe and tried to install this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2712135&postcount=122 and I always get "Installation unsuccessful".
Then I have tried again .cab from the first post, same procedure, but now I get "Installation unsuccessful" with it also. Tried couple of times.
I have a tons of apps and dlls from M2D package installed on my TyTN II signed with OEM2005 certificate, and they are working OK so I believe that certificate is not an Issue here.
Any idea what might be the problem and how to solve it? Thanx.

has anyone tried the keyboard suite? does it have the new sip changer?(little popup menu that looks cool)
Yeah, i tried it in my Mio A701 and I don't have the nice SIP Menu. :(
Anyway I still prefer the P1tater (or gullum) keyboard since it is faster than the opal one. And it is also bigger (the Opal keyboard takes half the screen while the other one takes a bit more space in the screen).
If the cab doesn't work, please try this installation: CHECK BELOW FOR THE NEW LINK
Be careful because this operation can't be automatically undone, but you'll have to erase the files manually if you want to uninstall them.
1. Copy all the files from the Windows folder of the archive in the \Windows folder of your device using Resco Explorer, Total Commander or another enhanced file explorer
1a. Remember to set the file explorer to show all files (system, hidden, dlls etc...) because the folder contains such files and if you don't see them, you can't copy them
2. Install Opal PhoneCanvas [Registry Entries].cab (it only contains the registry entries)
3. Install the Marshall Certificate.cab
4. Soft reset
The reason why the cab fails is due to the fact that for some reason it can't copy some files. But if you copy the files "by your hand" it should work.
[EDIT October, 2nd 2008]: Here is the new archive with all the files signed. Follw the instructions in the readme.

I've just tried this way and it doesn't work on TyTN II Stock 3.28 HTC ROM .... same problem like in my previous post I can see some kind of dialer that looks like default WinMo dialer (I believe someone posted picture in post #85 of this thread).
I've stoped cprog.exe and I didn't had any problems copying any of files from windows dir of your archive to windows folder using Resco Explorer.
I've noticed that *.MUI files from your archive are still signed with OEM2005 cert - could that be the problem ?
EDIT: Just extracted correctly signed *.MUI files (3 pcs.) from your "Signed by marshall" .cab and copied them over but NO luck still - again I have WinMo dialer from post mentioned above. On the other hand notification icons from phcanOverbmp.dll, PIN code entering screen (from same DLL) and call history are displayed OK.

Marshall
yours unfortunatly still doesnt work on my phone running death v4 the reason seems to be the reg keys arnt pointing to the right bmp files im trying to retype the registry keys but theres alot

I updated the archive signing also the mui files. Please try this method only if the original CAB installed doesn't work.
Follw the instructions in the readme.
http://www.megaupload.com/it/?d=5U3SDWXM
If after copying the files you still get the default WM layout, please check those registry values:
HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\ext = \windows\phcanhtc.dll
HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled = 1
Please also check the actual presence of the file \windows\phcanhtc.dll.

That was the only thing missing in the comm manager from SJs rom that was keeping the wifi button from working? Or do you mean that there are files missing? If its files missing ill send SJ a link to my package. I have had no issues with it.
Mine has been working for two days now by JUST adding that key.

I just wanted to offer some information that I have found in trying to install the dialer CABs.
First, the problem some people have been having with "unsuccessful" installation of the CAB. See my new post on that topic here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2725695#post2725695).
I have been working with the 6.1 official HTC and AT&T builds and I can say that the dialer CABs to not properly install on either of these. Or rather, the CAB installs fine, but the dialer shows up like other's have posted that looks very similar to the default dialer (a.k.a no skin).
I have even tried cooking the OEM files posted and have been getting the same results.
First I want to talk about security and signing. I do not believe that any of these issues are related to certificate signing. The OEM Sign 2005 certificate that signed these files is the EXACT same certificate (same thumbprint) that signed the files in these Stock Roms. The OEM sign 2005 certificate is installed on all these devices, and just because it doesn't show in your certificates control panel doesn't mean it isn't on your system. That certificate store is not the proper certificate store for CAB sigining certificates.
For more information see this blog entry (http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/05/02/certificate-stores.aspx).
You can see all the certificates on your device with the Security Configuration Manager (https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7e92628c-d587-47e0-908b-09fee6ea517a&displaylang=en) from Microsoft.
Also, I question the validity of saying that since one doesn't have a certificate, let's re-sign everything and then use those with another certificate. Wouldn't it be smarter to just install the needed certificate on a system (which is easily retrievable off any of the DLLs)? In any event, as you can see with the security manager, that OEM 2005 cert is the same one that signed all the DLLs in most ROMs and should be installed on every device.
In the cooking of my newer BRR ROMs I stripped both the stock AT&T dialer and HTC dialer from each respective build and was able to transplant them to each-other (i.e. install AT&T dialer on HTC and vice-versa). I found in my work on these that unless ALL the needed DLLs are present you will get results similar to those that I have gotten with this CAB. Namely, some of the colors and icons change, but more or less it still looks un-skinned. The AT&T dialer for instance will appear that way if some of the PTT DLLs aren't included, since those are referenced and help build the complete skin.
When I strip a dialer, just reinstalling the CAB back to the original ROM is not enough to determine that is is complete, since the original CAB will still have any of the other supporting files that were stripped out. It needs to be ported over to a stock build to ensure that all proper files and registry keys were gathered.
I strongly feel that the files being offered here are not the complete set of files needed for the skin to work. I believe it is working on some devices that may have the other needed files (from being cooked or having some other apps installed).
I appreciate the effort being made to port these, but I think the fact that they don't work on either the stock AT&T or HTC builds (after a clean flash) shows that something is missing. Again, I'm not trying to belittle the efforts of those working on this, but hope to enlighten as to why this is problematic for at least half the people trying this out.
thanks.

I very much agree with what you have posted. In my own playing around, I have found that the cab installs easily to any Rom that is a Diamond hybrid or has some Diamond components cooked in. I cannot say exactly what files/dlls from the Diamond Rom go toward making up a complete package but the cab definitely does not install to a "pure" Rom.

Why is this Phone Canvas uninstallable?
Any solutions?
I just tried few times (hard resetting) and each time it seems like it cannot be uninstalled (wheel just spins indefinitly). Last time I waited exactly 10min before I just poked the hole.
I tried decompressed cab, then I unshared and un-selfregister all of them in the cab, but nothing helps. Strange.
/BTW: great looking dialer, I agree!

Ok so I finally got the dialer up and running, looks really nice BUT! When I get an incomming call I slide to answer, I drag it to the very end but it takes a couple of seconds for it to connect to the caller (the tingtone still playing). I've noticed, because of this, the caller gets to hear my ringtone which is NOT so pleasant. Anyone else with this problem? I use the Herald.
Update: Ok I've tested it a little more, if I use the send button it works flawlessly, its when I use the slider it sort of lags, the ringtone keeps playing for a while even though the call has been answered.

Hi guys,
I have this Opal Phone Canvas included in my ROM, it works perfectly but I would like to change one thing: I want to have slider in dialer slided down by default when I make a call. Is it possible by changing some registry or somehow?
Thx

Not sure if this is an opal/jade app, but I have been looking for a cab for System Status. Anyone have it or is it named something else that is in this thread? Thanks.

That's it!! Thanks.:D
Do you think I can install this without putting the volume cab on there too or do both have to be in place for them to work?

I tried to earlier versions, and each operates independently of the other. Of course they look much better if the two are together.
Well I have a little request:
That anybody (Mbarvian or Herg) extract the FM radio or have a skin to look like Opal.
please look this Video (http://www.theunwired.net/?item=videoview-hands-on-with-the-htc-touch-hd-windows-mobile-smartphone)

I've been trying to install the phone canvas cab on a Touch with a cooked ROM, but kept getting the unsuccessful cab install message. I followed the directions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2726362 and was finally able to install the canvas. I used Win CE Cab Manager to edit the file.

Did it work once installed. I also have a touch and was able to install with that method but get a half skinned default dialer.

It did (sort of), the dialer looks fine. But I noticed that on some incoming calls the slide to answer function won't work, and it looks "half skinned" like you mention. I can't quite figure it out.

Exactly. There are two problems here. The installation unsuccessful is due to those flags on the dll. Removing them allows the install. The other problem is that after it is installed, it doesn't work on some ROMs.

when you go to contacts instead of the scroll bar you will have a alphabet lin where the scroll bar was (just like the iphone contact list). glide your finger on it and it will open according to your letter in their name.

I like many others have tried installing the PhoneCanvas Dialer and like many others it doesn't work. I'm using NATF's cooked V2, anyone have any luck?
Another thing, the OpalTitleBar cab is great but it no longer updates the battery icon, it always shows at full and sometimes it will be stuck as a charging icon. Anyone else have the same problem or a fix for it? Thanks.

Hey Mbarvian, thanks for your hard work!
I have your opal dialer installed in a spanish rom, and I'm trying to translate the mui files, but I can't make it work, almost all the keys appear without letters.
(Btw, I've signed the files)
Thanks
Mui files Edited with resource hacker
Signed with msigner
I have no problems with other mui files like the ones from Manila2D, VolumeControl, etc
