so far I've discovered that nbsplit and friends (Imgfs to/from anything) work significantly better in linux than this laptop I'm forced to use atm.

I'm cooking using the tutorial on the wiki (alex's kits)... set everything up (got the packages I want in there, selected the right ones), and hit "go". Works for a while, then it tries to create the registry:

Creating registry...
Microsoft (R) RGUComp Version 1.0.000
Registry file processor and hive builder.
Copyright (C) 2004 Microsoft Corporation All Rights Reserved.
built: Nov 19 2004 15:17:13
BuildBootHive: (RGUComp) !ERROR unable to mount hive file ".\boot.hv"
wmain: (RGUComp) !ERROR failed building BOOT hive
Creating boot.hv Error...
Creating boot.hv Error...
Creating boot.hv Error...

I'm not sure exactly what command is done where, so I can't try to do it manually. Googling the message produced no output.

what is going on?

thanks for any tips.

oh mother fscker....

I solved that problem by doing it all on another computer.

Anyway, my own brand-new rom seems to have not taken most of the oem packages I told it to - in fact, I think I have a clean wm6 right now :(

I am VERY frustrated right now (I can't even get my data connection, there's nothing on my home screen, and I can't up a new rom tonight (too late)... what did I do wrong, though? I followed the cooking tutorial (except seelected the oem packages I wanted), I used the 3.03 HTC rom folders, the kaiser rom (latest) as a baserom, and grabbed some stuff out of the att rom. It esems like I did everything right.. so what went wrong?

all weekend to produce a good rom, and I ended up failing :(
