I've been searching for days, and have read tons of stuff here over the past few days. Thanks to all the previous posters and those that can answer my questions below. I'm looking to replace HTC home on my XV6800 and have tried quite a few things. I won't bore you with the list or my thoughts on each, but I've basically settled on Homescreen ++ on top (clock, indicators, BT toggle) with UL on the bottom with tabs to hold spb diary, weather panel, app shortcuts, and fcontacts.

I am using Homescreen ++ UI 1.06.345 RC 2. Should all the the themes on this board work with this version? I realize they all refer to Battery Status, but should they work with this newer version, no? Is HS++ backward compatible with older themes? I find that most of the themes that I've tried do not work. Most buttons don't do what they should and the screens don't transition to other panels as shown in the screen shots. I understand that some of the app shortcuts won't work as I don't have all of the apps installed, but some of the ones I do have also don't work. I find it hard to believe that people have uploaded faulty themes as it's clear that a lot of work and pride goes into these things. I have to feel there is something I'm doing wrong.

What's the best way to debug these skins?

Would most of you recommend using UL to rotate and do tabs instead of trying to do all of that in HS++ itself? To me it looks like setting up the app shortcuts is easier in the UL.

For the record I am using the official Verizon ROM update, but I hope that does not make a difference.

Thanks,
John

OK, I read through almost the entire thread and did not see anything similar, but I'll now post the question there per your suggestion.

Thanks
John

That's all I meant. They would know better and Ikarus (the developer) might be able to help. He's a great person and usually answers most all questions.

I ran HS++ with Floyd and Ravest themes in combination with Pocket Plus w/o any problems prior installing TF2D.

I ran HS++ with Floyd and Ravest themes in combination with Pocket Plus w/o any problems. You may have to tweak the one or the other line of the XML file but so far so good. Now I installed TF2D and I guess I'll never will go back.
But in general HS++ and themes is the way to go if you don't like/use SPB's mobile shell.
