Hi all sorry if this is a dumb question, but since flashing my phone to 6.5 V7 my data connection doesn't work... I didn't have this problem when I was running the 6.1 Sprint 1.09 rom, any thoughts on what happened or how to fix it?

Sorry let me give a bit more information.

This is actually a newly replaced phone, when I flashed the phone to V7 I noticed I could not receive e-mail or use the IE, the data connection tries to connect (the standard #777) but eventually just gives up. No data, I am on the SERO plan and have unlimited Data on my plan. I have had no problems with data usage on my phone before this, including previous NFSFAN roms

Is it possible something was not setup properly at the Sprint store? I do not remember needing to "set up" the data connection on my HTC Touch (unlike my old Moto q9c).

Is it possible that the ROM somehow has messed with the data connection? I can make and receive phone calls so it isn't the radio.

I am using the just released 6.5 V7 Rom and my Radio version is 3.42.30

I had this happen a couple times when I had my backlight set to turn off at like 30secs. But haven't had any problems since I changed it.


I re-flashed b/c i was also having issues syncing with my exchange server.

Good news is that Smart Lock is working now with backlight set to 2 mins on battery power. I plan to set this lower after my initial Exchange Sync. I think it may be interrupting my data connection when Smart Lock deploys).

Email sync is still in progress, so hopefully it will be successful this time.

Has anyone else noticed that when you restore sms's backed-up with the PIM Backup utility, the threads are truncating?

Yep, flash the Sprint ROM, and once finished, connect to the web (try the AccuWeather default bookmark, for example.) You'll get a "Data Provisioning" pop-up as well as an "IOTA" status indicator in the status bar.

Once you've connected successfully, then go ahead and re-flash to V7. Voila, welcome to pure bliss. :)

(For reference, I've got the Sprint Touch as well, and had the same problem. :))

really everything, the phones empty? even the SD card too?

ARE YOU A SPRINT USER???? this carrier cab fixes things if your a SPRINT USER and CANNOT connect to the internet and such

Come on - the phones empty doesnt tell anyone anything, the phone isnt going to just randomly format the storage on the phone or the SD card after a restart, and as far as SD cards, they are flash memory it doesnt take much to wipe them out, minor random spike of electricity can cause it to corrupt

flash to your carriers stock ROM
reflash to the 6.5 V7 ROM
Hard reset to reinstall the 6.5 V7 rom

Follow those steps, if everything is deleted after that, you have a memory issue or a memory chipset incompatabilty (yes its true NOT all the HTC Vogues are identical with internal hardware as they run out at the factory and use what they can get shipped to them, and yes I have heard of issues resulting with custom ROMs and chipset incompatabilities)

That cab installs opera titanium panel and titanium weather panel.
it also lets the htc music and my faves panel stay on the titanium plug in also.

The HTC Music can be turned on in the titanium customizer - the fav people gets installed with the latest version (7) of the rom.

As far as Opera and Weather - I havn't had any success getting them installed. I grabbed the cab codybear mentioned - that was supposed to do it but it didn't do anything... So I am stumped.

Yes you can .. but be warned the CPL files are designed with the default font on the phone so you may have to do some editing to use them and reset the size/bold/etc to make it work and look right

Fortunatly its easy to change the font by coping over the cpl file to your PC, open with Wordpad and do a find/replace for the font in the file and the font name you want to use
Unfortunatly, there are 2 files her item (240X320 (portrait) and 320X240 (landscape))
Even more unfortunatly, once youve done all the find/replace you also have to go through and manually change all the font sizes as some will be 9 and some 10.5 and some 11/12 and you cant just do a find/replace as it will look great in some places but like ass in the rest

also, NSFan, on page 238, said to delete everything in Connections then do the import. Did you delete anything prior to importing? Thanks for your help.

open up advanced config and select menue then import provision xml. navigate to the windows directory and select the mxip_oemoperators_102...

Well considering all of showaco's other stuff is vga only, and someone else had to port it over to qvga, i'm assuming that's only vga.

read the thread given - I dont need nor really want to alter the CHome screen, things are there that I use and if I want weather I use the MSN app for more than 1 city at a time...

I simply installed it to show it wasnt dependent on vga/qvga settings

Assuming your a Sprint user and you can access the internet - then you should be fine IF you have problems AND are a Sprint user run the cab!!!!

yes, i flashed to the current version.
what it is is that the individual panel cabs were replacing the cpr's in the windows directories. even some skins and other 6.5 customizing cabs can replace the cprs which hold the xml that tells the phone how to structure and skin the certain item. if the item isn't listed in the cpr, then it will not show no matter what you do.
that's why i took all the stock panels included in this rom, and the opera and weather panels and put the cpr's into one file. that way one thing will not get erased over another.

** For those of you still having problems after installing my latest cabs on p449 or 448, one of those two pages, then install this:

you'll need it to install skins and stuff like that for 6.5 anyways.

Also do you have mortscript v4.2 installed?

Imho the new titanium is mickey mouse in its appearance and in its functionality vis-a-vis M2d. This is of course just my opinion but to me it feels dated.

sometimes this does happen.
but it's best to make the registry edits, and let the phone stay on for a couple minutes so basically it "saves" it or so to speak.
and then soft reset.

I think titanium is more of a structure than a whole user interface.
I mean we don't even have the official release and are already customizing the sh*t out of it. I even saw someone's attempt to completely redo the titanium screen.
Think wisbar advance desktop. ;)

I would suggest creating one outside this thread then to be honest..
But for my opinion, I really like M2D but I really like the openess of CHome as well

they both have pros and cons

CHome - Pre Release version
Pros
- Easy access in a 2D environment sliding up and down to most used items as well as left and right for different items of same main list item eg the Mail tab with 5 email accounts scrollable across and knowing how many unread mails in each
- Very nice UI with full integration of Color tabs and full background view
Cons
- to go into anything not listed on CHome its a scrolling fest through all the settings and programs and folders all in one potentially long list (yes this can be corrected with some creative folder creation/naming
- Lots of work creating different CHome items at this time, apps , regedits, icon/graphic creation (assuming this will be easier in final release)


M2D/TF2D
Pros
- Stable
- Easily customizable and lots of various themes, clocks, etc
- Easy to slide across and get what needed
- separate tabs for each type of page e.g. Programs hold only program apps, settings hold only setting links

Cons
- Older styling, gets dull fast, being phased out sooner than later but developers and manufactures like it or not
- only 1 dimensional left or right with items behind the slider
- graphics/background very limited by bottom bar, slider area and top bar all utilizing a great deal of landscape


As for as it being "Mickey Mouse", I would liken it to what it actually is a Zune interface, I see nothing of this Disney related nor approved on, but give it time Im sure Disney will be marketing a kids phone with the jonas brothers being ass-raped by Mickey soon enough

I agree. M2d is much more user friendly. Accessing favorite people, favorite programs, weather, settings, etc is just easier and more intuitive with M2d.

No not over on that thread unless he posted something over there about it
back about a trillion pages in this thread he had fixed the issue of the chopped off date

Just do a search on this thread directly for posts by HTCToucher and youll find it eventually

I don't seem to have any issues with Smart Lock. I think since its still in development stages it is missing a few key features. I'm sure the developer will soon enough work them into the program. The internet issue I guess can get rather annoying. I just simply unlock it again. My real problem is that it puts the device on suspend after locking. This interupts alarms and reminders as well as music playing. By disabling this I have to wait a full minute for the backlight to shut off. It really sucks when you're on the phone. I'll continue to use it for the in-call locking feature.

Most of the apps are already in there - some other apps can be on the SD card for quick installs or else use an app mentioned here before called Sashimi, makes the installs automated off a script from only 1 reinstalled app from version to version

here is how a cab works...

You can actually rename a cab to zip or rar and use that specific compression utility to open them
Within that zip or rar file you will see alot of files that dont seem to make any sense or are recognizable (dont worry about those) but there is an XML file there that has all the installation details on where to install, how to install and what reg entries and the like to do when you run it

I flash with my SD card out. The programs installed there stays there. After you are done flashing, navigate to your SD card's Program Files folder. For each .exe Tap and hold, then click "Send Shortcut to Programs" There you go.

For programs installed on the device, I use CABViaActiveSync. It lets you pick your programs to re-install. Check them off and hit okay and away it goes.

The only thing that takes me a while is setting up my themes and colors just right. I can usually finish up customizing after flash in about 30 minutes.

I have used PDAnet in the past to surf the internet and it works fine when I have my wireless printer connected to my laptop but I now use Internet sharing included on NFSFAN's rom, but the internet wont work when I have my wireless on. Any ideas why they wont work together but PDAnet will?

it may happen at some point, but would be a collaboration to really make it feasable and that would def need NFSFAN to be part of as well and truthfully, with each version it would have to be revamped with new items found and old items removed if they arent happening any more

Just some food for thought on it, this thread alone on this forum has views 386,995 and replies of 4,588 - thats ALOT to sort through let alone read through

Edit: I believe I have found the culprit for my cabs not wanting to work.
A f*ck up in the registry part of the cab not wanting to add anything to the registry.

Fixed it, and am going to fully test it out, even check the registry this time.
I guess I should really check every bit next time. haha, its weird that it worked on my phone before though, must have been since i had everything installed previously to installing my cabs.

You cab seemed to work fine for me. The secret is not to install Titanium Weather. It didn't work for me at first, but I uninstalled it, uninstalled Titanium Weather, soft reset, then installed your cab. Worked fine then.

Trying my newest fix.
It consists of the original cabs for the separate panels,
but I removed the vga titanium files that were in opera cab,
and the titanium files in weather panel so they will not overwrite what we have.
then I have a fix cab that will install the proper titanium files and change one registry value to make them all show.

Regarding the gps fix on page 385 I tried it with the agps verizon fix by gpst as well as the registery changes without "resetting" my phone and changing roms or anything and it is working now. I am getting 5-7 locks INDOORS as fast as I was before whatever happened with VZW happened.

What I've done.

Installed GPScab on page 238--get a lock outdoors in a few minutes
updated QPST settings as shown here--http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VerizonAGPSFix
updated registery settings in hkey_local_machine>software>htc>SUPL AGPS

Hmmm, enter bootloader mode and reflash.
I recommend flashing your carrier's rom and then reflashing to this one.
It's pretty damn hard to brick one of these types of phones.
I read pretty much the only way to do that is to downgrade to a non gps radio from a gps radio. but don't quote me. :P

I think adding a FAQ would be a great addition. It would not be that difficult to implement. You can start by giving fixes to the top 10 most common questions about NFSFANS roms which would cut down on at least 10 pages of garbage posts per day.

Once we get that organized we can cover more in depth details of changing things around. (The FAQ does not even need to be a separate thread it can be a .txt document added everywhere.

Did anyone answer this question for you yet? You might need the DCD carrier cab for Sprint. I had the same problem and the carrier cab fixed everything. It's a common issue with non-carrier-specific ROMs.

I use Resco Backup. I was using sktools for while, but Resco backs up everything faster, backs up your email accounts correctly (sktools doesn't work very well for that), and it is really easy to use. It's a trial-based software, but you don't have to worry about that if you are reflashing every couple of weeks!:)

I used the "new" IP and port (same as you mentioned) and left the rest what the cab set it to and it worked for me once as well. I also changed the IP and port using QPST to match. However I changed IP and moved from his 6.1 to 6.5 at the same time, though more recently from V6 to V7. I guess I'll need to go back to 6.1 and if GPS works fine I'll stick with that for now. I'm sure he'll work out the kinks and then I'll be back to 6.5.


edit: This actually reminds me of the behavior of roms on Verizon phones before the QPST fix was discovered.

I've been running NFSFAN's ROMs for about a year now and won't bother trying anything else - they're perfect. I was running 6v2 with everything running great except that there was a problem with the USB port on the phone (probably due to the hundreds of flashes and plugging/unplugging so often). Verizon sent me a warranty refurb replacement last week. The phone came with VZW's 3.14 WM6.1 update installed.

What I've tried:
Just for kicks I tried the gc14 VZW GPS tutorial with the Valhalla GPS cab on the 3.14 ROM and the phone couldn't detect a single satellite. I never wanted to use that lame ROM anyway so I just moved right along to unlocking with 2.31, flash with BELL 3.42.50 radio/ROM, then threw NFSFAN's 6v2 on there. I also did the QPST fixes for Telus aGPS settings. It's not that I can't get a lock, not a single satellite will show up in GPSViewer on bright sunny days in the middle of a parking lot for half an hour.

I went back and flashed the VZW 3.14 ROM to put the 3.37.78 radio on it then put NFSFAN's v7 on. Same thing - can't see a single satellite.

Has anyone heard of VZW crippling the phones that they're sending out now? Or do you think I just got a dud? Everything works great except GPS so I'm not sure what else to try.

It's not that I can't get a lock, not a single satellite will show up in GPSViewer on bright sunny days in the middle of a parking lot for half an hour.

I went back and flashed the VZW 3.14 ROM to put the 3.37.78 radio on it then put NFSFAN's v7 on. Same thing - can't see a single satellite.

Has anyone heard of VZW crippling the phones that they're sending out now? Or do you think I just got a dud? Everything works great except GPS so I'm not sure what else to try.

i also got a replacement sent to me about a month ago because of cracking of the outside rim of the case.. i have tried to get gps to work a few times and i have had no luck.

I think adding a FAQ would be a great addition. It would not be that difficult to implement. You can start by giving fixes to the top 10 most common questions about NFSFANS roms which would cut down on at least 10 pages of garbage posts per day.

Once we get that organized we can cover more in depth details of changing things around. (The FAQ does not even need to be a separate thread it can be a .txt document added everywhere.

I would rather start a new thread.
If someone doesn't work on something by this weekend,
I'll try to throw something together for this version rom and future roms.
I will not go through the hundreds of pages for older roms.
No point in my oppinnion.

Did anyone answer this question for you yet? You might need the DCD carrier cab for Sprint. I had the same problem and the carrier cab fixed everything. It's a common issue with non-carrier-specific ROMs.

Sprint users - I just dialed *2 and I automatically got a PRL update. I didn't ask for it prior to this or anything like that. YMMV - try it out and u can maybe see better reception ??

Got v8 running here with titanium weather all fixed up. No mortscript errors, and partially edited to suit the ROM better. Smart Lock has been removed from v8, I myself had nothing but issues with it.

i know nfsfan mentioned in an earlier post that he's going to rem smartlock in v8, but for those like myself that like it want to use it, here is the cpr file, its dsixda's work, i believe he extracted it from the omnia onyx or somethin like that. i edited it to fix the notification table, as when you have 4 notifications they go below the bottom of the screen and get cut off, thats corrected, at least on my vogue runnin nfsfans 6.5 v7.

all you have to do is paste it in your win directory on the device, then restart. i didnt bother with the landscape version, however, if you search around you'll find it, and with minor corrections you can make it format properly.

summary: cpr file (time+date at the top, and slider at the bottom, notification in the middle).

i had to zip it to get it to become an authorized upload, i'm also doin this from work DND, so if this is corrupt or doesnt work let me know and i'll reupload from home.

Comm. THe smart lock in V7 locks all the time. Looks like as soon as backlight turns off, locks come in. Do you have the same issue? I honestly like the way locks works but I can't stand to have my vogue lock every 10 seconds lol

Is there a way to disable it while we are waiting for v8?

to be honest i dont have that issue, but it may be because i have the backlight off timeouts set to off with screen timeout set to 1 min. this configuration has always worked for me. initially when i first flashed v7 a few times the phone went to the lock screen after i closed the current window that i had open, but that was a few days ago and never happened again, although that doesnt mean there isnt something wrong. anyone know where we can get a cab for this smartlock app ?

but to answer your q, if you go into system tools and launch smart lock, then uncheck everything, that should completely disable it, maybe throw in a soft reset after you make that change, and also wait atleast 10 seconds to be safe before restarting.

Personally, I like the lock screen.. I haven't had any issues with it, and honestly didn't utilize the new lock of 6.5 until it had autolock.. If it were taken out, I'd probably stop using the lock screen altogether again..

The only issue I'm having on V7 is that I'm still having connectivity issues when I'm connected with activesync..

Edit: I believe I have found the culprit for my cabs not wanting to work.
A f*ck up in the registry part of the cab not wanting to add anything to the registry.

Fixed it, and am going to fully test it out, even check the registry this time.
I guess I should really check every bit next time. haha, its weird that it worked on my phone before though, must have been since i had everything installed previously to installing my cabs.
Shouldn't be much longer though!!

I was checking out the panel's guid's,
and a major reason why it wasn't wanting to work with all of them is because the ones that came on this rom were using the same as opera's and weather's and opera and the weather were using the same as a couple of the stock titanium panels.
so it's a big clusterf*ck. haha.
I don't see how I had it all working before,
but I did.
I wish I hadn't hard reset now. lol
but I'm working on it. hopefully by the time I go home at 4:30 i'll have everything posted!

Funny, I can't get the damn thing to GO AWAY! It's locking nearly non-stop. I can't figure out wtf is flagging it to lock. I will be actively texting and it will just lock. Or actively dragging a menu... No logic.

I went into the smartlock app and unselected everything, and it's doing it a lo less often. I've noticed that there is no option to completely disable it--only to disable the new-style lock.

I'm still back on v5, which is super-stable for me. Except I've figured out that I'm not receiving text messages. I know I should update to v7, but besides texts v5 works perfectly and I don't want to mess it up with possible new problems.

I was playing with the latest beta for a few days, I found it works much better on 6.1, I just received the latest release, file size is the same so I'm assuming not much change over the latest Beta, however installing now on 6.1 and will report, when V8 is released I will install on that also.

Weather has been fixed, although I cannot add more than 1 city now, themes work better, seems pretty sweet indeed.

yeah what i did was actually just build off of the wm7 titanium project cab

so i took out his cpr, put in mine (with all the plugins added)
deleted unneccessary files, added some registry, changed other registry, deleted some other registry

and saved :D

and are going to test them out before I post them.

It's a pain hard resetting all the time and having to redo everything.

yeah, weather isn't showing up, getting a mortscript message again.

I get the mortscript message too everytime I restart my phone
untill I installed mortscript 4.2
I'm uploading that also to the faq here in a min.

Also I forgot to put the weather panel's name into one of the registry edits on the cab to make everyhting show. :rolleyes:
Fixed that and uploading new version cab now.

totally unrelated but my storage card died and i had palringo installed on it and now a cannot find palring error pops up on restart even after reinstalling and uninstalling from the card... (pretty sure palringo was what swiped the card anyway)....stupid program

Glad I just leave my phone on vibrate.
It goes off too much and ruins songs I like when I put them as ringtones. haha.
So it's just kinda constantly on vibrate. haha.

Did you shut off titanium and restart titanium?
And you shouldn't have to install both, I just recommend it
since you can always disable the ones you don't want!!
Let me double check the new fix cab I just posted.

It appears the opera import mortscript is not renaming the oper6.adr to opera6.txt so it can import the bookmarks. I manually renamed opera6.adr to opera6.txt and the bookmark was imported.

That's strange.
The only thing I changed from the showaco's original mortscript was pointed it to the correct location of the bookmark file.
I just tried importing a few different times and it's working for me.
**This happened to me a while back till I:
started opera,
opened bookmarks,
closed bookmarks,
closed opera.
Then it imported correctly.
-Opera doesn't save a .adr till you atleast open it the first time!

Wait, never mind, just read a post that your panels are all working.
going to leave this tho so I remember to copy this over to the faq.

Opera 9.5 is what I use.
but as far as I know as long as its not opera mini it shouldn't really matter.
I'll be uploading the cab to the version I use here in the next 5 minutes or so.
along with a bunch of other cabs.

I have a few programs I'm going to write this summer when I have a break from school, that is if I don't take summer classes.

As you seem to be handling the FAQ - here is a write up on how to install a custom ROM (with my special sense of humor thrown in) if you want to add it
Did this in another thread for a noob

First go http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370 and READ the hell outta it until you have it step by step (BTW use the 2.31 unlocker regardless about the GPS thing)

OK, now that youve read that (happy dance time)
Download the 2.31 Unlocker and NFSFANs WinMO 6.5 ROM

And make sure to download one of the DCD Carrier cab and copy it to your SD card as you may need this after the flashing is done (will get back to this tasty morsel later)

OK, now you have an Unlocker and a ROM - now what, hmmmm
Use WinRAR and extract both the files into separate folders
Press and hold the Power button+Camera Button and Stylus in the reset hole until the 3 color screen comes up and it says serial, now plug in your cable and it should change to USB

can you taste the rainbow and it is over the land of USB?? great, now go into the Unlocker folder you created and doubleclick on the RomUpdateUtility.exe (going to be called RUU.exe from this point on)

Follow the steps on the desktop monitor (you might get some errors about sleep4.exe - dont worry about it, just keep hitting enter and it will go away after the 4th or so time
At some point the program is going to tell you to disconnect the phone, sounds scarey doesnt it, losing the connection and all - dont be, be a brave little soldier and disconnect it and count to 10, cant do that, get some help in getting there, its really that important LOL once you (or your friend) gets to 10 plug it back in, does it say USB again? good!! happy dance AFTER you hit a key on the keyboard per the on screen directions

its going to eventually reboot, let it and it will be unlocked, let it start up and do its thing, when its done - go ahead and go back into bootloader mode again (remember power+camera+stylus twister move you did earlier, its back to that again) with the cable disconnected and it had better say SERIAL again.. now go ahead and plug in the cable and it should change to USB

Now go into the ROM folder and double click the RUU.exe here ... and follow the directions that come up on the screen...

Once its done and the phone reboots, wait... wait some more.. still keep waiting.. no not yet ... stop touching it.. it wont help pacing.. just be patient... oh look an Orange screen, ok here comes some fun

Follow the drections to go through the setup, dont worry about it being to accurate and all as it is about to be erased anyway... let the autorun happen once windows starts and it will reboot on its own again - yes it really IS a smartphone isnt it LOL

OK, as it is booting up again when there is a black screen - press and hold the red button+green button+stylus in reset hole (known as a Hard reset) until the screen turns gray - follow the directions again (save you some time "press the Enter key" thats the big silver button in the center of the buttons LOL) and when the progress bar moves all the way to the right, press the end key (the green one)

Again, it will restart (told you it was smart) and now go ahead and do the setup and customizations and do them right this time as your hanging onto them this time (sounds weird but if you dont hard reset after flashing it flying monkeys will swoop in and take your phone and your little dog toto too)

OK, now remember that DCD Carrier Cab, you do, fantastic .. so to the storage card where you copied it to - you didnt forget that step did you??? good I knew my faith in you would pay off, tap on it and run it - it will install all the Carrier goodies to make your life easy, and your sex life better and even improve that certain area of a .. wait sorry wrong channel again.... just go ahead and tap it, run it and reboot

The raphael thing is a registry value.
I could either give the reg value to you or make a cab.
I have that listed as a to do on my piece of paper in front of me,
along with renaming the weather panel to something not so long.

And that was the error I was talking about when you don't open opera first before importing. have you started opera atleast once? regardless if you copied over a bookmark file or not, it has to be started up atleast once before it will recognize the file.

I'm currently getting together all of the different carrier mms cabs,
and then i'll be making my keyboard tweak I have listed on the bottom of part 2 of my faq, and then I'll either start the thread, or I might just go to bed so I can catch up on sleep.
I've been up till like 2:30-3:30am and waking up at 6 or 7am for the past week.
I need some more sleep. haha.
If I don't do the thread tonight, it'll be up tomorrow/tomorrow night. I'll post a link and have it in my signature also!!

I had to do the same thing as bolt-on
just used total commander to re-name opera6.adr to orpera6.txt to get opera bookmarks to import.
good call on that bolt-on I wasn't sure what to do there and it worked perfect

not to mention codybear for the cabs and your work on all this, along with NFSFAN for making me enjoy my vogue again!
