I had trouble with "repeat" for the sound for reminders in a past release, it wouldn't stop playing the sound every minute or so until I soft reset the device, even after dismissing the reminder... I don't know if that is fixed yet, I can try again if needed, but it was very annoying, hence not trying again.

Multi-select seems to work fine (at least in mob outlook), as long as there aren't so many items on screen that it is full, IE if I start the drag from below the last message, it'll allow me to multi-select, but thats it. If I can't drag from an empty area, I can't multi-select at all, and there isn't an option in the menu for "select multiple", which makes it very frustrating.

Lastly, a small thing: The Buttons control panel now has settings for long-press-end key, so we don't need an end-key control panel anymore.

Thanks!

I found a fix for multi-select with drag!

Not sure if you can include it in the rom, but at least adding this cab to your sdautorun will get us by 'till then :D

from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2467455&postcount=867):

Apply this cab attached below.:)
I fixed multiple selection using it on my latest 20270 releasing soon...:p

Great rom, works good on my phone.

I fixed my issue by changing the Today theme and was able to use RC Mod.

I enabled the Internet tab in M2DC, and I have opera mobile 9.5 launching, it's just defaulting to http://www.htc.com/ instead of what is set as default in the browser settings, currently http://www.google.com. How do I change what site the browser will launch to using the Internet tab?

the tap&drag fix, is actually just tmail.exe from an older build. It is 464kb vs 482kb from the 20931 sys... Not exactly sure how this will inpact any new features the newer tmail.exe had, but I will include it in the next rom release...

Also to the guy with the repeat sound problems, just turn off the repeat option in sounds & notifications, if it is causing issues for you. It works fine for me...

This is an awesome ROM!
I have some suggestions though (on things to add, Sprint ROM :))

1. Sprint animation/sound (I can send these to you, last time I tried to set this up I had to hard-reset  )
2. Opera Mobile
3. iContact
4. Sprint PictureMail
5. Possibly S2U2?
6. Original calculator (With Diamond theme; for speed; both could be included)
7. MusicID
8. Default M2D theme

I'm not sure if any of these are possible to add, but it would be cool to have them :D

Also, I seem to have a bug... In Live Search, when I click Categories (with any city selected), it loads for a few seconds, then crashes with this message: "Sorry, an error has occurred, and the application needs to close".

Once again, great ROM, it's my ROM of choice. :)

yeah i changed both of the them both and it still defaults back...like immediately, the changes aren't being saved or something is changing them back, after a soft result as well. I can save homepage under the settings tab and then when i open the widget i have to push the home icon and then it goes to google , but not if i click the globe.....i got a little OCD for this. But like i said i believe it's from a previous rom (not yours) from six months back, because i have the same boot screen too that stays even after flashes.

Spuzzum - I was having the same issue as you. Try using CeRegEditor to change the registry. After establishing an active sync connection, you access the registry from your desktop to make the changes, then hit save. This will allow your changes to the registry to stick. It worked for me.

Every time I try to install the 1.09 ROM to my Verizon XV6900, the Update Utility says . The phone screen goes to the tri-color screen and then the progress indicator, but a minute or two later I get "Error [262] : Update Error ... the ROM Update Utility has encountered communication errors during the update process."

I am able to remove and replace the battery in my phone and come out of rom update mode, luckily. However, i have tried this update on two different machines and I still have no luck.

I have tried both recommended unlockers (they pop up a command screen and then disappear after a couple of minutes, no confirmation or info about the unlock status).

Anyone have any suggestions?

First thing would be the theme as NFSFan mentioned.
Beyond that, I've sometimes had trouble with some of the m2d tabs.
Try going back to the customizer and turning off all but the main tab, then see if it'll launch. Also, did you change the font or anything?

You DID remember to let the customizations run, right? This rom has customizations put together by the cook, so they are required, don't skip them.

Try manually putting the phone into bootloader by holding the power, and the camera buttons while pressing the reset with the stylus. After it's in the tri-color screen, flash the ROM. This helps me when the phone is being stubborn.

This happened because you hadn't updated the radio. You would have needed to flash to the bell rom first to get the radio (without letting customizations run), then flash to this one.

Now that you have the vzw rom on there you'll have a little more trouble getting GPS to work without vznavigator, but you can read about that elsewhere.

NFSFAN - this follows my inquiries over at haven. I'm on VZW 1.09.

I'm still have some battery drain issues with a rare occurrence where the phone shuts itself down after going into sleep mode. Only way to start up again is by removing the battery. Didn't see this on any prior ROM versions.

Also, the phone won't hard reset. When I try, it shuts itself down.

Any ideas? (before I undertake to return the unit . . .)

Hey NFSFAN and his fans,

I'm curious about the status of a few features in the ROM, and I can't seem to find information in the thread on these. So if anybody knows, I'd really appreciate any info you can give.

1. Regarding Opera 9.5 and the Bell 1.25 ROM, is there a build that supports both Flash and the T9 keyboards? I heard NFSFAN made a special build of 2745 that is flash-capable, but I'm not sure where to find it or if it supports the keyboards.

2. Regarding the white diamond dialers, which dialer is currently in the Bell 1.25 ROM: Is it the dialer with push buttons (red ignore and green answer), or is it the dialer with the slide to answer/ignore feature?

Thanks a bunch!

Mike.

I think its more of a problem with the computer you are using to flash with. The command prompt should stay open and give you instructions during the process. Do you have another computer to try it on? What are you running? XP or Vista?

I am looking for an audiopara file for the NFSFAN bell 1.25 rom. The volume is not very loud and need to bump it up a bit so if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. It might have been loud before but i have added some programs and changed the registry a bit so it might have been changed since then.I have ck'd a few but they have no effect on the volume or they just cut the volume out altogether.THX.

nfsfan can you provide me with some details on how to get mms to send. Still getting the originator address not found error.

I went through online and tried to find the post with the settings but all of your posts have been deleted from ppchaven.

vzw 1.09

Not able to send mms

reproducable: yes even after flash

Try's: checked through settings in reg, however not sure what to chose or add. tried the vzw carrier settings.cab which if im not mistaken i dont actually need to run anymore anyways.

I had the same problem and all i had to do was go into the MMS options and switch the send MMS from Verizon Wireless to Internet and it worked for me.

Don't expect to flash to bell rom and have working mms. Bell doesn't support MMS on this phone. The only ROM that has MMS is the Verizon ROM, I don't understand why you would flash to a bell customized ROM when you are running a Verizon provider :S

Yeah, same issue here. The server is down. As many of you may or may not know, I use the N2A weather server for weather updates, since it allows for custom weather cities. I suggest to wait a few hours or maybe a day, and it should work. It worked yesterday for me, using 1.26 so it isn't the ROM.

All you have to do is check when this website starts working again: http://weather.not2advanced.com

As I told you (nfsfan) in a private message. I found a bug with the Bell version 1.25. I don't know if the version 1.26 fix it but, the phone freeze when you open a VPN connection and you power off the screen. When you try to reopen the screen, nothing happen.

Repro step is easy:
- Open a vpn connection
- Don't close it
- Close your screen (power button)
- Try to reopen the screen again... nothing happen. The phone green light still flashing but the screen stay black.

The phone haven froze for days now because I didn't use the vpn feature. I tried my repro step as I wrote this message and voila, it froze again. Anyone can test it on their phone?

First off thanks for the Rom. Been using it for a month or 2 and I really like it. I have one problem and search gave me nothing.

I also have issue with latest Garmin XT on Sprint 1.06/1.07 ROMs. It would load after rebooting but after opening/using PIE once, Garmin won't load or freeze. So my solution is not to use PIE which I don't like anyway.

This is after several trials with pagepool size, installing/uninstalling programs (spb plus, spb weather, spb time, tomtom 6.x, Opera, Octrotalk, TCPMP, Phoneweaver, S2U2, Pandora, Skyfire, etc.), Garmin GPS port setting, disabling A-GPS, etc.....

I'll update if PIE is not causing this issue but Garmin has be running on/off for several time for 2 days now without any hangs.

I am having the same problem. Garmin won't run after running either PIE or Contacts. If I open Contacts while Garmin is running, phone locks up tight as soon as I go back to Garmin and needs a soft reboot to do anything.

Did not happen on Verizon 1.04, I skipped 1.05-1.08 so don't know if it started earlier then 1.09.

Have you tried updating Garmin to the latest version and build?

NFSFAN
6th January 2009, 09:44 PM
Mine has been doing that as well.

Yea that is completely normal... When using an intensive program there is more pressure on the battery. The battery % is calculated based on mAh consumption, so normally say the phone uses around 160 mAh, with Opera it would jump to say 400 mAh, and the voltage on the battery takes a slight toll. The battery % would then indicate lower... The battery % is calculated based on voltage; the lower the voltage the battery provides, the less % is being displayed. When the load on the battery suddenly increases, the voltage slightly decreases, and it could lead to the assumption that your battery is running out faster than expected. I hope that explains the issue well enough. :)

After a number of months using numerous NFSFAN ROMs, I can say they are extremely stable; I've never experienced so much as a freeze.

GPS will work with VZW if you have unlocked first (read first post in this thread; see also the excellent tutorials at ppchaven.com). Do not flash unless you've unlocked first; you might have an expensive paperweight as a result. Read, read, read.

Stylus is not necessary depending on the keyboard used for input.

I've heard some battery life issues, but generally nothing widespread.

Good luck!

I think these are regedits. I suspect there's an easier way, but I think you can add these bookmarks by editing the registry to add them. I'm just not sure how. Perhaps search for YouTube in the registry and see where it shows up and then create new registry settings for your preferred bookmark in the same locations, or simply replace the youtube entries with your preferred entry. I don't think Advanced Config can solve ur issue.

Just some thoughts. . .

At least I have the latest Garmin xt 50020w. For now I changed the ROM pagepool to 24Mb, reflash, hard-reset, and not using Spb Pocket Plus and seems to be ok starting/exiting Garmin for about 10-15 times in last 18hrs.

The way I test is to have iContact(initially Contact), Calender, Octrotalk, Opera, PIE, poutlook, tcmd, activesync, Vistahide batt, Spb time, Spb weather, Phoneweaver, S2U2 and Google Map running in the background when starting the Garmin. By this time the phone is a bit sluggish as expected due to low program memory but Garmin starts without lockup or exiting abnormally. I'll add Skyfire later on. Thanks.

Have you tried updating Garmin to the latest version and build?

NFSFAN, thank you so much for all the time you put in making this great rom. I flashed the Telus Rom 1.3 a few days ago and it's amazing. I'm a total noob to all this, but am learning a lot here. I'm reading as much as I can here before I start asking questions. I hope one day I can be helpful to others who are starting out here. You have made owning my Touch a heck of a lot of fun. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

At least I have the latest Garmin xt 50020w. For now I changed the ROM pagepool to 24Mb, reflash, hard-reset, and not using Spb Pocket Plus and seems to be ok starting/exiting Garmin for about 10-15 times in last 18hrs.

Hey NFSFAN, nice work on the ROM, upgraded 1.04 to 1.07 on Sprint. Question for you.

Now on start up for 1.07 it automatically starts up Instant Messaging. When I go to menu or whatever on the bottom right, then settings, and then finally global settings. I uncheck "Start Automatically on PowerOn", hit "Back" on the bottom left (it asks if I want to save and I select Yes). Upon reset however the application still loads, by going to global settings, the check box for that setting is now back.

In the process of writing the question I found the answer. Going to Settings -> All Settings -> System -> Remove Programs allowed me to remove OZ Instant Messaging. Then in File Explorer I went to Windows -> Start Menu -> Programs and removed Instant Messaging.lnk

Still experiencing an outgoing call volume bug, I'll try to test it later. Seems to be only outgoing calls, incoming calls are full volume. A fix for the bug is to hit down on volume slider and then back up on volume slider, this usually readjusts it to the incoming call volume I usually have. Nothing major.

Minor skinning bug, but I'm pretty sure it might be the fault of the skinner. I switched to a blue skin when on 1.04. It changed the background on everything, however when I did a long press on the messaging section or the mail section, the black background would appear, kind of annoying if you are slow to swipe your message up or down. I located the image and replaced it with the background of the skin I installed and seemed to fix the problem. The file was hh_fw_focus_background.png, not sure if it is something to do with M2DC or just an image that was left out by the skinner. Anyways, there's a work around if anyone asks the same question. (Edit: that image file can be found in the root of the \Windows\ folder, forgot to mention that)

I really want to switch to a blue skin and then blue bars using the RC mod. Only problem I run into is the colors used in the start menu drop down and task list is bright green. I found the registry settings that need to be changed, however I do not know how to predict what color will come from what value, so far I have tried Hexadecimal, but I am not able to get the results I am looking for (blue highlight color instead of green). Do you know how I can better predict what color will come of a certain value, be it Binary/Decimal/Hexadecimal?

Your ROM has made owning my phone so much better, thanks for all your hard work.

He specifically said this was a test after increasing the page pool. Garmin locks up in your VZW 1.09 ROM any time PIE or Contacts have been run even if all other applications have been shut down prior to starting GarminXT.

PIE also makes the phone extremely sluggish. There is, without a doubt, something wrong in this ROM that was not a problem in previous versions.

Definately NOT a memory hog, in fact it is the wexact opposite. Installing this ROm will in fact speed up your phone. NFSFAN has spent a considerable time over the past year optimizing and strealining not only his rom, but windows as a whole.

Your concerns are not valid concerns with this ROM, guaranteed, money back and everything :p

1. I JUST purchased my Sprint Touch a week ago and i need to know if there is any prep steps i need to take before installing the ROM?

2. I also see that my Touch allows me to use my Phone as Modem feature, allowing me to use my internet on my laptop for free...will i still be able to do that?

If you need to change the pagepool, run the program, and then browse for the .nbh ROM file. When you open the ROM, it will show you the current page pool, as 16. The best is to set it to 24 as some people pointed out here. The impact of this is that you will loose 8mb of storage space on the phone's memory.

Yeah, but I already paid for Garmin, and my standalone GPS is also Garmin, so I like the consistency. Also, worked perfectly on stock ROM and your earlier roms, so something else must be taking up pagepool that wasn't before.

OK, thanks I'll look into this. Is this the OEM which you used to get the MMS running on your Vogue? Does it have all the wap profile configs and such. Also I assume alltel requires MDN number in the registry like Verizon? Thanks

Thats correct. There is a .provxml file w/ the alltel settings and also sets a *.lnk in the startup folder for SetMMSMDN.exe which does exactly that. Tested it on quite a few kitchens i used, worked fine for me. Let me know if you need help with your Alltel ROM, i'd be happy to help you out with what i can.

NFS - a few problems I've noticed with the ROM.

1. Only the full qwerty keyboards work with IE. Most of the other keyboards/pads don't work in any of the forms. It's not bringing up the predictive text to fill in the forms and/or it's not registering any letters.

Also I don't think clicking on a form field brings up the keyboard like it should either.

2. I have Garmin XT and I've noticed that if the problem suddenly seems to hang, turning the screen off and back on again releases the hang.

3. When plugging the device in to USB while the screen is off, the screen does not turn on to enable the connection.

4. On other M2d builds, the favorites show up on the Internet tab. They do not on yours.

Yep. See first post for a screenshot of the USB to PC connection options.

I've had no problems with internet sharing, but I undertand that once you cross a certain threshhold of data usage (which is pretty high but I'm not sure how high; you can search elsewhere for this info), VZW may flag you. Be reasonable and you'll be fine.

1 is due to a problem in ie6, 2 can be fixed by

Not sure if it would work for you, if you aren't already using an exchange server for your email/contacts/calendar, you can use nuevasync for syncing your contacts and calendar to google...

I currently get errors for my imap connections to google mail... i wonder if anyone else has that working? It might just be VZW blocking imap.....

A couple of users pointed out before that the compact qwerty and phone keypad wasn't working on Opera or IE, the reason for this is due to an incompatibility issue with the T9 Dictionary files. HTC has yet to resolve this, and most of the shipped phones that come with Opera 9.5 have the T9 removed.

Use the Advanced Config tools and disable the Power Management for PPTP and L2TP. That solved the freezing for me.

I do have 2 small questions:

With the original HTC home screen before the flash there was a shortcut for rotating the screen when i clicked on programs. do you know how to get similar feature on this ROM? or do you know how to rotate the screen without going into settings every time i want to use it.

Also one more thing i noticed. when you tap inside of a text field, my keyboard doesn't pop up automatically. I checked in advanced config and enabled that option but it still doesn't work. is that by design?

You can assign the Camera press & hold button to rotate the screen. However be warned that Manila2D doesn't support this, so you can only use this option anywhere else but in Manila2D. Also the Compact QWERTY and the Phone Keypad are broken in landscape, since HTC removed the landscape support from these keyboards, in both the jade and elfin packages of the IME text input. The text field sometimes pops up depending on the application. The OS build is 20931, with a 20940 core, and not a 19208 build. Many things have changed, and Microsoft could have removed and added a few things here and there.

An Alltel Beta will be released today in about an hour or so. I will need users to test the MMS. The ROM is the exact same as the other releases (only changes are those that are seen below) except its carrier customized. It will be using a 24 MB pagepool. The tethering and GPS should also work just fine.

Changes over my current released ROMs:

Changed PagePool to 24 MB
Fixed VPN Issues
Renamed External GPS to GPS Settings
Removed Error Reporting Completely

I actually use Full qwerty keyboard and its a great one. is full qwerty HTC or another input method?

Thanks again for a great ROM.

Bell Rom 1.26 : Since upgrading (I believe) my call id does not work. It works for txt messages but I don't know who is calling me now. I've tried re-installing the stock bell rom, then 1.26 but it still won't show call id.

Any solutions?

Don't know if this got missed but I dont know how to fix this.

Thanks

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible for me to manually install the older version of Audio Manger onto this FW? Reason I ask is that the older version displays Chinese / Japanese text fine, but the new one does not. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

edit: older meaning any 1.x version, not the 2.0 version. I can't seem to just write over the files.

OK

With Bootloader, and the Verizon signed RUU from

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=19071

Now..I need to start over and get your new rom workin'

So you installed the VZW GPS rom... did you run customizations? If so, there are a number of steps you need to take to get GPS to work on NFSFAN's roms... I can post up a link latr if u need it.

As for the first attempt, NFSFan's rom wouldn't have booted at all (it would sit at the boot splash and stick there) if you didn't put on an updated radio first.

Alex, did caller-id work in the stock bell rom?
Also, what previous NFSFan Bell roms have you tried that did work?
Lastly, are you running S2U2 or anything else that has call answering support in it?

I am testing out NFSFAN's ROM and I am having a small issue. Whenever I use data for the first time after a soft reset, the data gets stuck in an active state. Any idea what might be going on? Or anyone else experience something similar? I should mention that I have added a few programs and done some registry edits. Thanks for your help.

Yea this is normal. It is due to the GSM dialer.

I am Using your latest Verizon ROM. I must say that it works exceptionally well! I have changed a few things around to better suit my needs but still have one problem.

The Phone dialer I can not deal with Slide to answer. If I disable the phone dialer I am left with a Dialer that somewhat mimics an Iphone dial pad and is rather un-sightly.

So my questions are.

1. Can I simply disable slide to answer?
2. If not can you recommend a basic dialer that will install into your ROM and not give any problems?

Another thing you could try is loading a different radio from alltel or sprint, then load the bell rom without customizations and see if you get callerid

MMS does not work. In order for MMS to work with alltel it has to be version 3.0.2.12c

No, it doesn't keep the data always active. It is just the arrow animation that it breaks.

Ok so I have been trying to get the GPS working.

I'm using your rom v1.10.VZW 01/03/09
Radio is 3.37.77

I AM ABLE to use QPST and did the aGPS fix and put in all the gpsOne information

did the aGPS fix from 1 thru 15 as stated from NFSMAN

but I can't get a damn lock.. been sitting here for over 30mins
and have soft reset the sucker over and over....

Using either the GoogleMap or GPS Viewer that was included in the ROM

PROBLEM: RESOLVED

Navigate to Start -> Settings, and click on Phone in the Personal tab. Click on the Services tab at the bottom. Highlight Location Setting and click Get Settings. Ensure that LOCATION ON is selected.

Apparently the VX6900 was set to 911 for whatever reason...

I found the cab for Weather Database editor from another forum... I tried it on this ROM, but wasn't able to add city that I wanted...

When I run the program, it tells me that it is write protected.. and exit out. Then I run it again, the program doesn't give this error anymore. But when I add a country, it doesn't stay.

I checked the database file, its there, and it's not set to Read Only or system file. Maybe this only works on the Diamond / Touch Pro only?

If so, how do I go about adding city that isn't including in this ROM?

Any suggestions from the Chief?

Most dialers can be replaced. Have you searched this site for dialers? There is a plethora of them available.

To mbze430: Edit the weather xml with Notepad by adding the city you want, and save. Use Total Commander to replace the existing xml file with the revised one. I think NFS includes Total Commander in Programs . . .

This has worked for me.

I'm trying to silence the numeric keypad with a registry CAB after a hard reset, but it always reverts back to beeping when the numbers are pressed. The registry edit doesn't stick at all. Anyone know how to make it work? Thanks in advance!

Edit Used:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Keypress]
"BeepMode"=dword:00000000

no registry setting you make will stick through a hard reset. the registry will go back to how the cook set it when he built the ROM.

I am incorporating the registry edit in a CAB that executes through the UC after the ROM is loaded. So it should work.

What I would do if i were you is to make a registry back up before turning off the beeping using ceregeditor, then after turning it off with the menu, do a registry compare... maybe there's another entry that gets modified?

Sure. :) Location Settings under the Phone Services tab comes up blank. Everything seems to work fine. ActiveSync seems to pop up everytime CommManager is run as well. Its not really a bug, more an annoyance. I am gonna give BT a run through the week and see how that works. I'll report any other findings.

Agreed, US carriers haven't turned on voice-over-evdo (VoIP) yet. So all voice calls (and for most, if not all carriers, mms and sms also) runs over the older 1X/circuit switched network.

As for yours bars going from many to few on the changeover, it could have multiple reasons...
Your carrier may have the EVDO antennae on different towers or in a different place on the tower.
You might be running over a different frequency for EVDO than for 1X in your area, and different frequencies traverse terrain and buildings and steel differently.

EDIT: Actually now that I think about it... for MMS, the initial notification message is in 1X, then the data portion (picture, video, sound, etc) is downloaded through EV if the network is available.

Works for me as well ... I've managed to add at least 3 locations that I wanted this way.
I just save the updated xml on my SD card for when I update the ROM to the newest version.

I have a lot of other registry edits in the same CAB which are taking effect, so I'm certain it isn't in the setup. I'll look and see if there could be other registries that I am missing which are causing the change.
