how do i get the initial V10 background/theme back without a hard reset? I can't find it in the Today settings.

It's called stwater_240x320
and the stock landscape wallpaper is stwater_320x240.

After flashing with this rom everything is working except my Remote Desktop Client will no longer connect to any server i enter...anyone have any ideas what might have changed ?...i have re-installed Remote Desktop but no luck.

Mine worked 100% with my account previously.
Make sure you have a windows live ID or create one.
Then it's located in Start > Settings > Personal > Myphone

please forgive me if someone has already answered this, i quickly browsed the last 21 pages and didnt see an answer, but when i send a text message i used to be able to just type in the recipient field and the device would suggest names, and i thought i read in the v10 change log that this was fixed... could some of you please tell me if this is working properly for you or not? i just wanna get an idea of weather others have this issue or if i messed something up... thanks in advance for your replies!

v9 didn't have that option.

Without that info, I'd suggest reflashing.

Clean install of V10, stock FAVPeople. Restored contacts, added Favs to FAV PEople. Pretty straight forward. I never get radical while testing a new ROM. This way I don't blame the ROM for the 50,000 programs I have installed

No, Clean install of V10. Restored contacts, added Favs. Pretty straight forward. I never get radical while testing a new ROM. This way I don't blame the ROM for the 50,000 programs I have installed

Thank you for how you go about with a new rom,
it's very helpful to rule out any problems that are caused by backup stuff.
This is the first time I have heard of this happening with the myfavs tab.
It's the most updated version, so I'm not so sure if it could be a problem with that version or what...
It is still in beta form (not to version 1.0 or above yet).
So this would be a good thing to post in the developers thread.

I have a friend with a Touch Duo (slide out hardware keyboard) but it looks identical to the Vogue... Would NFSFan's Rom work on his phone? Would the Unlocker work? there is almost no information online about the duo, but I would assume internally they are the same, just with an added hardware keyboard?

The Touch dual is known as the Nike. Bell and Telus have CDMA versions. It also differs in hardware. It has the Qualcomm MSM7501A 528MHz processor compared to our QUALCOMM MSM7500 400MHz processor. This allows it to have hardware accelerated OpenGL. In my exhaustive search for a driver for the Vogue I came across one for Nike and was excited untill I realized the phones have diferent processors.

Yeah I know about closing apps or them running in the background, but thanks for the help. I may just end up flashing again and maybe trying an alternate route. Maybe try going back to the Bell 6.1 ROM and then back to v9 just to see what happens. It's just weird because I have never had to do that with any of these ROMs before. I guess ya never know.

And I doubt it's a hardware issue when it was 100% fine on v8 right before flashing v9 and then it began.

this is ridiculous. my phone locked up. i soft reset it. it got past the HTC screen and then the screen went blank, never to respond again. i soft reset it again and it hard reset itself.

It has to be the way you installed V10. 10 is fast, responsive and virtually trouble free. From what I'm seeing, if we take shortcuts during flashing, we have problems. I'm not saying that's what you did. Also, before we should report problems, we should run the new ROM for a couple of days without any addition of programs or doing any mods.
My process is this:
I upgrade to the latest ROM by always starting with flashing back to latest stock carrier. Then I follow the long process, described in the FAQ. After a successful flash of the latest ROM, I restore my contacts and personal info. I use the phone for at leat a full day, to make sure I have a stable system. Then I install 1 program at a time.

Remember with any version upgrade (especially in the windows world), there are programs that may not be compatible and cause weird problems, lockups, etc. So if we install 1 program, at a time, we can pretty much put a finger on the problem.

EVERYONE, please post what phone and service you are using. This way we all might see what phones / flashes combinations may have problems with various ROM versions. I find it very interesting that some of us have virtually no problems and some of us have all sorts of problems.
If some are experiencing no problems and have fast stable performance, while others have major problems, the logical thought would be:

1: The ROM Upgrade Flash went bad (Follow the proper procedure with no shortcuts)
2: An installed program or full restore caused a problem (Never fully restore from a backup)
3: Something on the phone has a problem with the ROM. (don't really know about this one)

So, for the record, I'm on Sprint, using NFSFAN's V10 ROM and 3.42.50 radio. My phone has been running smooth, with no lockups or any program problems. So far I installed Sprint TV, MS Live Search, Sprite Backup, TomTom, Mobil Manager for NetFlix, Mobi-Trade. The only problem I have is my FAV People data file got trashed. But the FAV program is still BETA, so the problem could be the specific program.

re the Fave People corruption people have noted, I had this back in v8 once. I just removed and re-added everyone, and it was fine from then on.

I've been using many NFSFAN ROM versions, and I've just had my first random hard reset with v10. Hopefully a fluke, but I'll report what happened.

I used the alarm function for the first time last night (I tested it before bed and it worked fine). It didn't go off, and when I checked the phone, the green light was flashing ok, but it would not power on. Eventually I did a soft reset, and it did a hard reset.

Programs installed are Opera (NFSFAN version), MortPlayer, Core Player, Facebook, Gmail Java.

I've set it up now with just Gmail. I'll try the alarm again and see if it repeats and let you know.

Further research shows the Nike has Wifi while the Neon does not.

v10 is working great so far. no problems here. on verizon with 3.42.50 radio (from bell)

it's also noticeably faster than v8 (i never bothered to try v9). even opera opens faster. it also doesn't seem to leak memory as badly as v8.

For those who keep complaining about slowness, make sure you are also not importing your text messages. 6.5 does not like more than 100 texts for some dumb reason.

That's the problem. I flip through and Select Fav People never shows up. I get 3 people (and their numbers don't match) and then several blanks. Then it starts the list again. I tried re-installing the CAB, but that didn't work either. So I was looking how to manually remove it.

What I've always noticed is it's easy for a "user" to bash the author of a product. Most of the time they are ignorant and don't really know how to test, let alone program. Don't let those kind bother you. They will always be there to complain about or steal your ideas. You've done a wonderful job with your ROMs. In the past I have tried other ROMs. Now I exclusively test yours. What you are doing is exciting stuff.

Thanks for the reply Codybear. Problem #2 seem to went away after installing v10. However, #1 is still bothering me. I notice the new rom remove an option in phone setting-service-auto dial 4 times outside of service area. I wonder whether problem has something to do with the auto dial problem...

I can't speak for everyone, but I appreciate your work here. Your Roms give new life to my Vogue... and I suspect many others. The thought of having OpenGL working someday on the Vogue along with apps like Opera 9.7 gets me very excited! :) I appreciate your effort man. Thanks.

v10 is working great for me. Only issue i had was sms was freezing up so i deleted all my old messages and not any problems since. NFSFan, good job man.

For those who are having problems may want to try it again. i upgraded straight from NFSFan's 6/1 v. 1.12 for Sprint without flashing back and it works great for me. its not the rom.

Allright I've had my 2nd hard reset issue. I went to launch Gmail, and when I started java, neither Gmail nor Opera Mini was listed in the menu. Closed & started java a few times to no avail. This is after using Gmail earlier in the day. Finally decided to soft reset, and then the boot stopped and the Bell blue screen. Did this a couple of times with no getting past the blue screen.

I think I'll flash back to v8 when I get home. I ran v8 for over a month with no issues at all.

So the details are, Bell Vogue, v10 ROM. 2.42.50 radio, Gmail and Opera Mini (java) are the only programs installed.

Too bad. I've NEVER had probems with any ROM and I've been flashing since early 6.1 versions.

I have been a ppc owner since 2003. I am one of the original sprint vogue owners. I have had numerous custom roms on this vogue. I can honestly say that none of them made me feel that this phone was worth keeping and that I should'nt jump ship once a better phone came out. Smartlock was the culprit in the hard resets of v8.
Very well could be the problem...

What I've always noticed is it's easy for a "user" to bash the author of a product. Most of the time they are ignorant and don't really know how to test, let alone program. Don't let those kind bother you. They will always be there to complain about or steal your ideas. You've done a wonderful job with your ROMs. In the past I have tried other ROMs. Now I exclusively test yours. What you are doing is exciting stuff.

This is bull*** man, i had this ROM working perfectly, didn't have anything else installed but just arcsoft MMS and SPB Keyboard. all of the sudden it stop sending MMS, just receiving, so i went to do all the instructions at cody's faqs, no dice, hard reset, nothing, reflash, nothing. Still screwed up :(

yet i flashed that other ROM from PPCgeeks, and MMS works all together :mad:

You should be fine as long as it is a gps radio included in that rom,
and not a non-gps radio.

you MUST include that information each time you report a problem.

For users complaining about V10 being unresponsive: if you read through the posts from the other 9 versions you would find a common theme... FLASH TO STOCK FIRST. I do this, upgrade the radio (again) and then flash to v10. V10 has been the best rom so far. I am using Pointui and cddevctrl to control the 6.5 lock feature (which has worked flawlessly thus far which is a first) and could not be happier with the performance. Not only is it very responsive, it does appear to handle battery better.

For those who keep complaining about slowness, make sure you are also not importing your text messages. 6.5 does not like more than 100 texts for some dumb reason.

but it wouldn't work for some reason. Kept failing.
But it's a shortcut to the Fav Contacts panel editing program
for those that can't get the fav contacts editing program to open.
Just copy to your device or storage card to where ever you want,
then click on it and there you go, it should open right up. ;)

Thanks NFSFAN! Last week i installed V8, then saw you just released V10. I installed it today. Love it. Both have worked flawlessly for me. I am on Verizon, so the only issue I have had is the GPS. I have tried your registry link with both versions but could not ever get GPS to work. I have gone through the registry to verify settings, which I did have to change to what you have posted but still cant get connected. Any ideas? :)

I unchecked that darn box again, and my data worked again. This is beyond annorying. I am sure it is a problem in the 6.5 build and not the rom, but who knows. Anyone else with this problem?

I have had 3 Random hard resets since noon yesterday. I have never had a problem with this before but V10 has been very unresponsive and freeze frequently so i will remove the batt and put it back in and it will have hard reset it self. Im going back to v9 is was awesome!!!
If you have a hard reset, flash to the ROM again. This has always fixed my problems with frequent hard resets.

I had this problem on v9 and i hard reset, then i changed the settings of titanium weather the connect to internet setting to yes instead of nothing. I havent had a problem with it since.

finally! i'm not the only person with these problems. i've brought up the internet connection problem several times but the pages move so fast, no one notices. every 6.5 rom has had some sort of internet issue. like i've said before, i stream internet radio all day and my connection will log over 20 hrs before it won't let me connect sometimes.

sometimes all i need to do is disconnect and reconnect. sometimes i have to soft reset. sometimes when i soft reset after a failed internet connection, the phone hard resets itself.

Nope still have to go through the internet to receive the pics but it allows you to send without using the web face crap.

I never had a good hack for Sprint Picture Mail even for 6.1 so I used sMMS app from http://smms.vision5.com/ but am not impressed with it either. I would love to have picture mail function on the phone that is integrated into text messaging interface without the requirement of sprints crappy website.

The Sprint Picture Mail hack lets you see the pictures in IE the old way not the new way where you have to go through the slideshow. Like I said the one I have doesn't work with WM 6.5 just 6.1. This is just for viewing the MMS through IE in the old fashion way so you just see the picture right away in IE.

Quick question though, I liked the basic/initial (what appeared to be) Classic Blue theme you had in there, unfortunately as soon as I started flipping to other themes, the Classic Blue isn't yours anymore but is default Windows one. How/can I get the GOOD ONE back? I find the files w/ the PNG background, and of course run the ClassicBlue.TSK file and it just takes me back to the standard Windows one, not yours.

While I know if I restore the ROM again, it'll be there, I'd like avoid this if easily possible.

If you pay full price for the phone you can do anything to it you like. It will not void a warranty. Verizon was sued a year ago over this and lost. If they rebate the phone at all the have full control over the contract.

Understood, however I am not paying full price for the phone and do not want to. I am paying 50.00 for a refurbed phone. They are offering the phone to me for that price simply becuase i am having a hardware problem with the phone (digitizer) and the warranty just ran out about a month ago.
So my question remains, Can i flash back to the official VZ rom\radio 3.37.78, with out any problems?

From what I have read there is only a danger if you are replacing a 3.xxx radio with a 1.xxx one. I believe flashing the Verizon 6.1 ROM with the 3.xxx radio and letting customizations run will not brick your device.

It would be good if a Verizon user or Sprint user who had a bell radio chimed in and said "no probs" but i'm fairly sure there is no danger.

I had this same problem. I uninstalled Device Center, Re-installed it and everything is fine. Don't ask me why this works, but it did. I have since flashed NFSFAN's Roms 3 different times, all the new roms sync perfectly. Device Center asks me to set up the new device and I'm good to go.

just a FYI (w/ my problem so many pages back) FIXED!

im on sprint v10.

my problem was i couldnt send sms. i recieved fine, data/gps/calls worked. i did flash to stock then custom twice, hard reset, install carrier cab dcd only.

to try 2 fix it, i reflash custom 1 more time, hard reset. and that was it. i didnot install any carrier cab. to tell you the truth i dont know if i needed to install it in the 1st place cuz i didnt check, just assumed i needed 2.
so not sure what fixed it but the only thing i did different was not installing dcd carrier cab!? maybe thats the reason every time i tap send sms it threw a not signed error!?

i do have another question, i intalled twolf multi plugin, an it works great but i think it may have slowed down the scrolling smoothness. now in start menu its choppy when i scroll. is there a setting i could change to fix it like increase scrolling speed in advanced config!? if so what settings should i look at and what numbers should i increase to?

Luckily had done a full backup with SPB backup the day before, so now I won't need to reinstall everything and configure all my settings.

I have had similiar problems like that in the past.

I usually reflash (I need a backup program!!), install one prog at a time and find the culprit. Programs that sometimes work flawlessy will suddenly go gerber on you. At least it's not the ROM, I've experienced this on many others. Running DeathDrive PPC (a racing game that you get to shoot and destroy your opponents!!!) was the last one to fubar my system. I couldn't exit the program, so I soft reset and discovered the same stuff you did.

Oh well......we are running windows machines after all!!!!!!!!!

The performance on the Vogue will be close to 4 times faster in rendering tris/sec, but thats it. This is because its resolution is 4x smaller than that of VGA. Now, with that said, obviously we will see improvements of 100-150x in 3D GL accelerated apps/games, and a few improvements in D3DM. The D3DM layer provided with the Touch Pro will be ported to this phone, however its not really D3DM since its hooked into the OpenGL library to do its processing. The ATI Imageon is mainly based on OpenGL.

This is a Bell Mobility phone. It says Vogue 100 where the battery is...unless there's another image I should use, or I did something wrong?

I tried the process above twice..still does same thing i get the error, i take out the battery and power back up..and then it's back to normal on the phone.

just a FYI (w/ my problem so many pages back) FIXED!

im on sprint v10.

my problem was i couldnt send sms. i recieved fine, data/gps/calls worked. i did flash to stock then custom twice, hard reset, install carrier cab dcd only.

to try 2 fix it, i reflash custom 1 more time, hard reset. and that was it. i didnot install any carrier cab. to tell you the truth i dont know if i needed to install it in the 1st place cuz i didnt check, just assumed i needed 2.
so not sure what fixed it but the only thing i did different was not installing dcd carrier cab!? maybe thats the reason every time i tap send sms it threw a not signed error!?

anyway im all G.

i do have another question, i intalled twolf multi plugin, an it works great but i think it may have slowed down the scrolling smoothness. now in start menu its choppy when i scroll. is there a setting i could change to fix it like increase scrolling speed in advanced config!? if so what settings should i look at and what numbers should i increase to?
hmmm. not sure why that cab did that,
but with a generic carrier rom, if your data/sms/etc works no problem, then you don't need the carrier cab.
but if you have any problems with any of those items, then you have to install it to rule out any problems with those settings.

We should bring the OpenGL thread here on xda, make a new thread. Its better to keep things documented here and in progress. Just to clarify... The performance on the Vogue will be close to 4 times faster in rendering tris/sec, but thats it. This is because its resolution is 4x smaller than that of VGA. Now, with that said, obviously we will see improvements of 100-150x in 3D GL accelerated apps/games, and a few improvements in D3DM. The D3DM layer provided with the Touch Pro will be ported to this phone, however its not really D3DM since its hooked into the OpenGL library to do its processing. The ATI Imageon is mainly based on OpenGL.

If i run the stock verizon rom with the 3.37.77 radio before the custom rom, do i need to upgrade the radio with the bell rom first for the gps to work once i put v9 or 10 back on?
It would be recommended to upgrade,but you don't necessarily have to.
I have links to posts that have the process to fix the verizon gps if you have let customizations run on the stock rom.
I'm assuming you have done so???

Eitherway, to get verizon gps to work if it is not working,
go to Vogue links (located in more links section of my faq)
and there will be two links there for fixing verizon gps,
one for people that didn't let customizations run,
and another for people that have let it run.

Are you talking about the scrambled up pages? if so, there's no fix.
If you want to remove them,
find one of my last posts I have a rar that has a link to the fav people program.
copy to sd card or phone and click it,
it'll start up the program so you can remove the people from the panels.....

I downloaded the version 10 that includes the updater.
I followed the instructions, making sure I had enough battery, My phone backed up, etc...
However, I got as far as the multi-color bars on the phone, and then it went to the progress indicator.
It only stayed on 0%, then about a minute later I got a error on my computer saying "Error_recovery.."
I went thru the recovery process and I had to remove my battery and turn the HTC Touch back on.
Then, it was fine again, back to the usual Windows Mobile 6.5 that's on it.

This is a Bell Mobility phone. It says Vogue 100 where the battery is...unless there's another image I should use, or I did something wrong?

I tried the process above twice..still does same thing i get the error, i take out the battery and power back up..and then it's back to normal on the phone.

it's the bluewater or something like that,
but the wallpapers are not included in them.
once you change them you lose being able to have both of them(landscape and portrait) but you can go to the settings page to where you select the theme at and click the "use picture as background" and Navigate to the windows folder.
It's called stwater_240x320
and the stock landscape wallpaper is stwater_320x240.

Simple search of wallpaper within this thread brought up a few posts with this information. ;)

i am assuming this is a verizon phone flashed to cricket?

either way gps should work regardless if the settings are right...agps is another story.
make sure that the gps is set to com 4 with a baud of 4800 and location is turned on in the phone settings. Also make sure any carrier programming has been completed. (ex *228 opt 1 on verizon) try to get the basic gps to work before trying agps.

try it outside with a direct view of the sky. back before agps sometimes it would take me 10min to get a lock so set the phone down and go for a walk lol.

Quick question.
I have installed the bell version 1.31 of the rom
but i've noticed since then I haven't been able to install skyfire.

does anyone else have this problem? When clicking on the cab, the screen goes to the install screen (the screen right before it asks u to choose to install either on card or memory) and just freezes. I've waited 10 minutes+ and it remains at that screen. I end up either closing it (it stays in the background though), or just soft reset.

any help would be appreciated

As for what is unlocking... when you went from WM5 to WM6.1 you were probably using stock (factory) software which requires no unlocking
As for custom ROMs it requires you to unlock as the ROM is not designed by the company but rather individuals to custom create a ROM like you used when you last upgraded but as they are not from the factory you will need to unlock the phone - hence the link I gave you to read first and learn before attempting

Ohhh, you're on cricket.
Are you sure you're gps isn't working?
It could just be taking forever and ever and a day.
That's what happens without aGPS on these phones...
I wish cricket would come out with aGPS,
it would be pretty cool if they did.

I've been posting where to find walkthrough for this,
but no one wants to look I guess....

But anyways, going from a gps radio, to a non-gps radio is VERY dangerous. I personally don't recommend it!

Yes, for some reason the backlight settings icon is removed from settings. However, you can change backlight brightness by navigating to power settings: Start>Settings>System>Power and there's a backlight tab. Also, you can simply go Taskbar>Power (Battery icon)>Backligh tab.

Backlight is at the Start > Settings > System > Power
Click backlight tab.
There's just not a shortcut for it in the settings menu anymore.

It's not my data connection, because the videos play perfectly (in high quality) using YouTubePlay.

Still using v8 but I don't see anything in the changelogs that make sense for this anyway.

For some reason, I can't get the phone to associate with any bluetooth devices that don't require a passkey (Yes, I know about the 0000 and 1234 default codes - these devices DO NOT require a passkey and WILL NOT accept those) - the association is created just fine when I just Next through the passcode screen during that process, but when it actually comes time to connect, the phone either insists on having me enter a passkey (the next button is disabled) or just displaying the invalid passkey message (which one of the two things it does seems to be selected at random).

These devices work perfectly fine connected to a desktop computer without a passkey (though the Windows default Bluetooth stack does not allow such things). I suppose the question is - does the bluetooth stack on these ROMs support this particular use? If not, where can I get one that does? If it does, why isn't it working?

I don't think it's T-Weather. It looks like maybe AccuWeather may be having problems. My T-Weather goes out to the net, tries to get info, completes and shows all Xs. I would wait and see if it corrects itself. It was working earlier.

I can confirm the same issue on my touch pro. Its the server.

Add HTC GPS tool, Live Search and RyanMogul's Diagnostic Program shortcuts (really useful when you have smart dial enabled.)
Change the battery poll ..is set to 5000 (i read if you set it to 25000 through the registry, the battery life last longer)

Setting Poll to 25000 doesn't mean it lasts longer. It means the driver doesn't check the battery every 5 seconds, but every 25 seconds. Doesn't do anything.

I do not believe so.
People have requested the % number next to the battery bar,
but to me it really doesn't matter since it goes in 10% increments anyways.
Especially now that I have the TP.

Do you have it on low quality?
Also, you could probably increase the buffer size/time
and that could help aswell.

I wouldn't delete the weather programs,
MSN is already in the core files,
and Titanium weather is a older version
(I think due to no icon changing capability)
but is still nice to have included.

If you go to start > system tools
there's a gps tool right there.

Phone codes do the same things as the RyanMogul's Diagnostic thing.
So if he puts a phone codes folder in the rom,
then there's no need for that program.
*FYI* There's a Phone code walkthrough in my faq now.

That BatteryPoll increase can be very dangerous if you let the battery get below 10%
as it pulls the power from the battery at longer intervals if you increase that value,
and you'll have a less accurate battery meter.
Meaning if you let it get to 10%,
there's a chance you're phone's battery will be about dead,
and then your phone pulls the power from the battery,
and drains the battery and then your phone will shut off,
and most likely cause a hard reset to happen when you start it back up.
It's happened to me a couple of times because of that hack.
*I'll be adding cabs with different intervals of that registry location to the faq this weekend.
Along with tons of other registry edits in cabs with the location info for people that want to do it themselves.

Sorry I totally forgot to mention this.

If you want to make this ROM perfect, is there a way that it will change to landscape mode automatically when texting. (you know some of us got fat thumbs and makes it hard to type on portrait mode.

If you do that they might call you NFSFAN the ROMAN (get it... ROM MAN):D

oh and some people are saying that the youtube program doesnt work anymore.

I was going to mention an issue with the Youtube app as well, I don't know if it's been mentioned, but when you try to change the volume while watching the video it makes the app lose focus. On the 6.1 roms, it used to bring up a small volume panel on the left side of the screen and worked flawlessly.

With V8, i am having problems picking up calls sometimes... The phone just freezes and rings until the voicemail. Maybe this has been adressed with V9-10?. I haven't found a solution about this in the tread or the FAQ.

To make it perfect, I also would love to have a larger landscape keyboard (either auto or by pushing a button). I could always find one elsewhere but i don't know if it would work on your 6.5 ROM

I prefered the EVDO icon... Since the Vogue isn't 3G (or is it??), i don't really like having the 3G icon at the top bar...

3G is the term given to high-speed wireless data. For GSM systems it's more specifically known as HSPDA and for CDMA systems it's more commonly known as EVDO. It's like calling home Internet high-speed, but it can cover cable or dsl.

I would suggest updating.
Especially since you're having problems.
Remember to flash stock first then flash v10 2-3 times.

Alot of keyboards work.
If you find one that you like, try it out.
Worse comes to worse you just uninstall it.

Still using v8 but I don't see anything in the changelogs that make sense for this anyway.

For some reason, I can't get the phone to associate with any bluetooth devices that don't require a passkey (Yes, I know about the 0000 and 1234 default codes - these devices DO NOT require a passkey and WILL NOT accept those) - the association is created just fine when I just Next through the passcode screen during that process, but when it actually comes time to connect, the phone either insists on having me enter a passkey (the next button is disabled) or just displaying the invalid passkey message (which one of the two things it does seems to be selected at random).

These devices work perfectly fine connected to a desktop computer without a passkey (though the Windows default Bluetooth stack does not allow such things). I suppose the question is - does the bluetooth stack on these ROMs support this particular use? If not, where can I get one that does? If it does, why isn't it working?

Just upgraded to V10, issue has changed. Now simple devices (no passkey necessary) but passkey-required devices don't. WTF?

By the way, I'm still using the stock Verizon radio, if that affects anything.

Also you have to make sure that it is CDMA... Downloaded one that worked "fine" except that it didn't skin any network-related icons, only USB/Volume, etc... so basically there are 1 or 2 ugly ones, all the decent ones are GSM only it appears.

I don't really see what is there to fix. The 6.5 uses a newer updated usb 2 pc, the 6.1 roms are very old.

Well all the dll's are compatible with both cdma and gsm,
it's just that some of the people don't customize the cdma icons
because they're gsm and vice versa.

It doesn't fix everything else either. If you scroll right for more details for the days, you'll notice wind speeds are missing, as well as the 'feels like' temperatures, inches of precipation, visibility, cloudcover, and humidity. The only thing it seems to be retrieving is the condition and hi/los.

What I did was replaced the mcr file in the program files directory for titanium weather.... then went back to the panel to update weather. Everything worked fine. Oh... I also have installed Showaco weather panel 4.2. That could be the difference.

Make sure you disable Home first or it won't let you overwrite file.

the old file SCR was included in the ROM (Read Only Memory) so you're correct, you can't delete or rename it. but you can sort of overwrite it.

you just copy the SCR file into \windows and the phone will 'hide' the old SCR file and recognize the new one, therefore overwriting it, sort of.

it shouldn't give you any problem doing this. i didn't try it with file explorer, but i used Total Commander without a problem.

edit: oh, just saw that you figured out the problem. yeah, do that first, oops :)

- Go to settings>today and enable Windows Default (6.5 Interface)
- Go to Weather Tab and in lower right click on Setup
- Select 2nd option (Run full update and exit)
- Wait for full update to occur and scroll through pages all icons should have appeared again (although I had to run the full update twice)
May need to start IE or Opera or whatever browser you use to gain an internet connection first to perform update if you already dont have the option to "connect to the internet automatically" set in your options before attempting the update

(Thanks to 4Thought for this) If your in Canada or other locations just enter in your location code directly in this format: NAM|**|**|****** replacing the * with your location in the SETUP options (Setup>Option 3 (Forcast options/setup) > Option 1 (Zip or Location Code)
an example would be NAM|CA|ON|OSHAWA for Oshawa Canada or NAM|CA|AB|EDMONTON for Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Weird, never noticed the Cloudcover report before but then I live in Las Vegas, if there is cloud cover to begin with its a rarity LOL but as you can see, the first pic shows sunny yet has the Cloudcover statement yet later today is showing the icon for partly cloudy and no indication of the cloudcover reporting - kinda weird, but not an issue with the ROM more the app and the reporting from Accuweather themselves Im sure

your in Central Time Zone - Not Indiana Zone as Indiana Zone is just the same as Eastern Time Zone just they dont recognize the Daylight Savings Time 1 hour shift 2Xs a year

Use the Central US GMT-6 settings and that should do it for you (unless your in extreme Western Texas then its Mountain Time GMT-7 for you

You had TW running until yesterday when the Red Circles with an X showed up right?

you downloaded, extracted, disabled the CHome screen, used Total Commander to copy the file into the root of \Windows (the Windows folder was the highlighted folder) right?

Restarted CHome and did a FULL update?

What is the zip code you entered in the application setup?

so tried the other patch and still nothing. i'll try a hard reset and see what happens and redo the process again.
the only thing different is that i use activesync instead of storagecard to transfer the file, but i don't think that should really matter

Which is the US url for the Accuweather data feed but in attempting to find a Canadian one its keeps giving an error on the XML

I dont have too much time today to dig about in it but I will see what I can find in regards to the Canadian links and edit it for you all up there in the Great White North (NFSFAN included LOL)

This works for Canada. You don't use a postal code to set it up though. I'm in Ontario close to Oshawa, so the code I put in is NAM|CA|ON|OSHAWA

Postal code of what??? T6R 1R1? Thats in Canada isnt it? scrolling back and reading a couple posts and you would have found this fix inst compatible with Canada yet

See if the other ones posted work, but I know when I did those it broke some graphic/texting layout for TW so be prepared unless there has been a newer fix Im unaware of yet

As for the location you copy the file to and how you do it doesnt matter at all - Im using activesync to copy to a WinMo6.5/titanium folder I have created on my SD Card just for things like this and other things for fast access after hard resets and the like - if you copied it however you copied it it should work or not work and the reason is because of the Canada location for now do NOT bother hard resetting, a fresh flash wont help, its between the coding and accuweather data NOT the ROM or your phone

going back to v9....i had a brightness shortcut titanium weather worked...and now i have this problem that my phone does not not play the ring tone i just get the call with no sound

someone help me out. i was on version 8 and everything worked fine i updated to 10 and i got the weather fix and that works great but i can not make it connect to my email?? with version 8 and prior it would set it up for me. i even tried manual settings to get my verizon email working (im on sprint service with verizon email account) and it just will not work. can any one give me any direction here? thank you in advance

everything else seems to work okay.. i think version 8 was a bit smoother than 10 though and the touch is not as responsive as 8 was.. overall though these are fantastic roms nfsfan.. THANK YOU

Titanium Weather step by step fix for NFSFANs V10 ROM

- Download the file as offered HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=195285&d=1244902518)
- Extract the zip file to desktop
- Copy the TitaniumWeather.mscr file to your phone (storage card or where ever)
- Click on Start Go into settings>today and under the 2nd tab (ITEMS) disable "Windows Default" (6.5 Interface AKA CHome)
- Use Total Commander to copy from location you saved the file to to the root of \Windows - overwrite if needed or if you are having issues coping it over rename the original file(TitaniumWeather.mscr) to titaniumweather.bak and then copy it over
- Go to settings>today and enable Windows Default (6.5 Interface)
- Go to Weather Tab and in lower right click on Setup
- Select 2nd option (Run full update and exit)
- Wait for full update to occur and scroll through pages all icons should have appeared again (although I had to run the full update twice)
May need to start IE or Opera or whatever browser you use to gain an internet connection first to perform update if you already dont have the option to "connect to the internet automatically" set in your options before attempting the update

(Thanks to 4Thought for this) If your in Canada or other locations just enter in your location code directly in this format: NAM|**|**|****** replacing the * with your location in the SETUP options (Setup>Option 3 (Forcast options/setup) > Option 1 (Zip or Location Code)
an example would be NAM|CA|ON|OSHAWA for Oshawa Canada or NAM|CA|AB|EDMONTON for Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Weird, never noticed the Cloudcover report before but then I live in Las Vegas, if there is cloud cover to begin with its a rarity LOL but as you can see, the first pic shows sunny yet has the Cloudcover statement yet later today is showing the icon for partly cloudy and no indication of the cloudcover reporting - kinda weird, but not an issue with the ROM more the app and the reporting from Accuweather themselves Im sure

Not sure the real importance of this other than to pilots or meteorologists but then the previous would have better information from better equipment I would hope and the latter would be the ones knowing already LOL

your in Central Time Zone - Not Indiana Zone as Indiana Zone is just the same as Eastern Time Zone just they dont recognize the Daylight Savings Time 1 hour shift 2Xs a year

Use the Central US GMT-6 settings and that should do it for you (unless your in extreme Western Texas then its Mountain Time GMT-7 for you

It's not the rom that is causing titanium weather to not work.

Titanium Weather step by step fix for NFSFANs V10 ROM

I'm running WM6.5 v10 ROM. according to total commander the file is read-only, hidden, system, and rom. After I disabled the titanium plugin, then disabled the titanium weather widget, saved the settings, did a reset (leaving the chome turned off) I tried changing the file properties and while it doesn't give any errors when you check the file properties it is still read-only, hidden, system, and rom. I tried deleting the file which gives a message of "could not delete (1)file(s)", I tried moving the file and that got an error of unable to copy or move.

I then rebooted into safe mode but with the same results.

I am pretty sure it isn't possible to modify files with the *rom* tag in their properties. what I don't understand is that if the rest of you are running NFSFAN 6.5v10 how are you copying the fix files and overwriting the titaniumweather.mscr file.

My guess is that those of you that got the fix to work installed an updated titaniumweather cab which installs to the /programs/titaniumweather folder

This fix is primarily aimed at those that have a protected titaniumweather.mscr file in their windows folder AND are running NFSFAN 6.5v10. It may not work on any other rom, etc. If you are not having problems with the protected titaniumweather.mscr then use another easier fix.

hi, it started yesterday ... i thought it was just a missing icon... because i saw a red cross like a missing icon, so i thought may be i should disable it and restart the panel... but it never came back.. i tired copying the mscr and it didnt work ... so now im without the weather panel... anyone know what i need to do? may be reinstall the panel over the existing one?

i checked the customizer and its enabled but i cant see it on the menu

And all you have to do is copy the file over.
It will overwrite the rom files.
You should have no problem

so if anyone else is having them, or are not having them, let me know.
Yeah, that was one of the two fixes I had.
This one is the better one.
It will fix the first main page when you highlight titanium weather,
and also shows what the temp is when you don't have it highlighted.
But the First detailed page has the same problem,
it won't show the cloud cover at all
and humidity has XX.XXXXX% value instead of XX.XX% which isn't a problem.
The rest of the detailed forecast pages don't work. (atleast for me)
And I haven't bothered with the actual radar,
is that still working for people?

Hmmm, did you mess with titanium file itself?
Try disabling, and re-enabling titanium,
otherwise do that with the weather panel in titanium customizer.
Or just reinstall and reconfigure with your settings, and use the fix mentioned above.
Just copy into windows directory and you should have no problems.

There has to be something installed or applied that changed something on your phone as several people have reported no issue making the file work and copying over and Ive personally done it on 4 Touch phones running custom 6.5 Roms today alone out playing poker in between hands - you are disabling "windows default" under start>settings>today right?

this is what works. Ive tried everything you guys have said to do and this is what really works for me. Download titanium weather 4.2. Then download the attached .mscr file from modaco forum. download the mscr file from codybears first post above. disable titanuim. disable weather with titanium customizer. install titanium weather 4.2. Place the mscr file from codybears post in windows. place the mscr file from this post in program files/titanium weather 4.2. Soft reset. enable titanium weather with titanium customizer. enable titanium. run full update. FINALLY WORKS!! thanks everyone for all your help getting this to work.

Well if its a rom file, you're able to copy over it.
Then if you delete the modified version,
and soft reset the original rom file shows back up.
But you're never able to delete the original rom file.

Did you disable titanium and also use total commander
(start>system tools)
Another thing I did was just navigated to the zipped file on my sd card,
opened the zipped file through total commander,
and then pressed and held on the mscr file,
and pressed unzip.
I pointed it to the windows directory
(press tree button, highlight windows and press ok)
Then it asked if I wanted to overwrite and I chose yes.
Done deal. haha.

Don't let anything write on the card.
Message me and I'll give you a walkthrough to recover everything
along with links to a program to use!!!

BUT IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT NOT TO LET ANYTHING WRITE FILES ONTO THE STORAGE CARD OR IT WILL OVERWRITE ITEMS ON THE CARD AND CAN POTENTIALLY MAKE THE WHOLE THING UN-RECOVERABLE.

I haven't seen much interaction from nfsfan here,
or at the touch pro thread, or his opera for the touch pro thread.
But I had read over at the OpenGL thread here,
that whosdaman said Nfsfan is working on writing another wrapper for a dll.
So is busy with getting that up and running,
and I'm sure he's working on both a new version of the TP rom along with the vogue rom since he has a up and coming changelog for both.

I've been using v10 since its release without issue, but starting this morning it's been freezing up on me at random times. When I got home from work I figured I would just re-flash and the problem would be fixed, but unfortunately every time I either press the soft-reset button (to soft reset/hard reset/bootloader) it freezes, and if I attempt to connect via USB it also freezes.

This is the first issue with a NFSFAN ROM that I haven't been able to sort out on my own, if anyone has any idea's it would be greatly appreciated!

(also since I can't get it into bootloader, I can't flash the rom from my SD card either, already tried...)

Nice. Also as previously mentioned, people would like the numeric battery meter back I think as well. The only other gripe I have is that odd issue with Messaging showing up over the titlebar and softkeys now and then forcing you to X it out before you can interact with the screen behind it. It seems very random.

I'm having the same problem, did you find a way to fix this? I didn't see a fix posted. I've done 2 full re-installs and i still have the same problem.

yeah, try that,
if it won't let you rename it,
delete the wrong storage card one and then rename.
Same thing happened to me once.
I thought your card got completely corrupted.

Take out the battery, then put it back in. Hold down the camera button, and while you are still holding it, hold down the power button. You should be in bootloader now.

you forgot the the stylus in the reset hole part to get into bootloader.
You have to hold down camera and power and press stylus into the reset button.

You're looking at two different screens in those pictures. The top one is the current forecast and the bottom one is daily forecast. Note the top picture has the current temperature on the picture while the bottom one only has the high/low and also has the day of the week.

I never use the stylus to get into bootloader. With the power off, push power & camera at the same time and that gets you into bootloader.

you forgot the the stylus in the reset hole part to get into bootloader.
You have to hold down camera and power and press stylus into the reset button.

Yeah, I kinda noticed it was 2 different pictures when I personally had to scroll to get to a pic with the cloudcover posting and how the rest did not have it - as stated in some there is a incomplete cloudcover status in others its not there

Codybear, the reason I wrote up the fix I used was that, I can't overwrite, delete, rename or in any other way change or modify titaniumweather.mscr (located in \windows) even in safe mode. I am pretty sure the reason is that in the file properties I verified that it is read-only, system, and ROM as indicated by total commander. Because it was a rom tagged file I couldn't even delete it when I booted into safe mode. So to get past all that I disabled weather, installed weather 4.2 cab which installs to \program files\titanium weather. That titaniumweather.mscr file doesn't have the rom tag in properties so it was easy enough to overwrite with Detroit_Doug's but that one didn't work with 4.2 (icons not working) so I used sector's and it finally worked.

What I still don't get is why is my titaniumweather.mscr located in \windows is rom tagged in properties and everyone else's isn't? Or if everyone else's is, then why can everyone else overwrite a rom property tagged file, which according to everything I read at the MSDN forums says, is impossible to do?

It doesn't really overwrite the file. What happens is that when you copy the file into \windows, your phone knows to look at the new file that you've put there instead of the old one that's contained in the ROM. So it's kind of hiding the old file. If you then delete the .MSCR file, your new file will get deleted, and the old one will still be there (basically, it's now unhidden), just like before.

You're not supposed to be able to delete or modify the ROM file in any way.

What phone and radio are you using?
Mine works flawlessly. I hit the green button and get the phone pad.
I'm thinking a lot of problems that are being reported by some are because of an improper Rom Upgrade, some program install after upgrade or a registry tweak.
I suggest anyone upgrading their phone (this has been said before), follow the proven procedure, with no shortcuts, never perform a full restore, use the phone for 24 to 48 hours before adding programs or doing any registry tweaks and then install one program at a time. If there are no issues after the Rom upgrade, then all of a sudden the phone starts acting weird, my above thought would be a logical explanation of the problems.
At least this is the way I see it.

Honestly when I did it I still had the titanium activated.
I used Total Commander and
Just copied the script into windows
and overwrote it when it asked.

Are you using Total Commander? Maybe file explorer works differently.

File Exlporer doesn't allow overwriting of read only files
and system files etcetc.
But I have a theory,
when you disable titanium,
I think it makes it a read only file
(along with all the other attributes, [rom file, etc])
So those that are having trouble copying this over,
try it with titanium still turned on,
and then turn it off and turn it back on after the file to restart it.
Let me know if that works.

My assumption is that including them in the ROM makes them respond faster.I use an app called MVBklight. I mapped the "hold camera" button to it.

I've attached the latest version. You have to install both cabs for English.

i tried the enhanced sensitivity one and it appears to be working on our vogues. unless im on crack its def more sensitive, maybe the experts DD or CB can verify but for now i give it 2 thumbs up.

Yeah agreed!! It's always nice to be hooked up to My Mobiler or something similar then you can usually set them up again. Or you use CeRegEditor and back them up as I stated earlier then restore them just in case... :eek:

you did a soft reset after and it's still working? interesting...

my own experimentation tells me that it should've made things worse:

my starting values after a fresh install of V10 (and V8 also) used to be:

pressure threshold: about 32000
finger pressure: about 4500

LOWERING the finger pressure makes it more sensitive while RAISING the pressure threshold appears to make it more sensitive.

the enhanced version you used sets those values BOTH to 80866.... which would tend to make things less sensitive because of the huge increase in finger pressure.

if you LOWER the threshold too much, YOUR SCREEN WILL STOP WORKING. so one of those CAB files (iTouch_azharsunny.cab, his 'final' version) lowers both values to -1. I'm very wary of trying that, but maybe negative 1 is a special number that makes things super sensitive.

I really don't want to have to hard reset again if my screen stops responding.
