This should only be when using the program, correct? If constant increase, is there a way to remove it? I am not overly interested in the program/feature, but love your 1.08 Sprint Rom, hoping to use your 1.09
In the second beta, I optimized it to use around 5% more ram instead of 10%. There is no way to remove it, unless I do it from my kitchen. I will be including footprints in every release from now on, as it is built in the new Manila2D. We have plenty of RAM on our Vogue, so it doesn't really matter.

Thanks NFSFAN !!! :D
Live Search works and apps such as RSS Hub can be seen in Programs. I'm good to go.
Question: I tried the new Footprints app and when I try to New to add a new footprint, it launches the camera?
Much thanks for the quick changes.

Yes, this is what footprints is. It allows you to geo-tag photos. Giving the user many options when geo-tagging it.

NEW updates!!! BETAs 2 are now out. Bell, Sprint & Verizon. Alltel coming soon.
Great to hear. Based on the great experience I have had with your ROMs, that first beta just didn't seem as stable. Had some pretty random freezes.
ALSO, Thanks for Footprints! It's pretty cool. Makes me want to travel and discover new things.

Go to http://www.htc.com/www/product/touchcruise/overview.html
...that will tell you what Footprints does and what greatness NFSFAN has pulled off in being the first to put this into a ROM.

I love the Sprint 1.08 ROM. Tried the 1.09 today and having some data corruption issues on the internal memory. The first time I had just finished installing all my apps and then went to synchronize. Activesync failed. I then went to file explorer and all the folders in internal memory had corrupted names. Soft resetting actually resulted in a hard reset. I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I tried synching and setting all apps up again. On the last step, setting up the mobile push email, the phone froze. I soft reset and it would just hang on the booting screen.
Back to Sprint 1.08 for me.

The sprint 1.09 release is perfectly fine. I tried all the roms before making a release. I had no issues with any of them. I recommend that you reflash.
It is also possible that you have bad blocks on the nand flash. In which case I suggest getting a replacement. Data corruption like that is not the cause of the ROM, in any circumstance.

Footprints and the Iolite improvements look like they'll be awesome. If I'm not mistaken, they'll make it easier to manage aGPS too?
I'm holding off upgrading from VZW 1.10 until they get out of beta, but I can't wait, and I really appreciate the work you and other devs have done with the Vogue.
I noticed the newer releases look even more like the Diamond UI for the home screen. If you're interested, I attached a more Diamond-look tab slider and background (see screenshot). Feel free to include it, if you cite this post.

Thanks natefish. That shed some light what this app is for. Hmmm... now to figure out what to capture ;)
Definitely thanks to NFSFAN for getting it for us !!!
Now off to the movies to watch Inkheart and show-off my new ROM phone. Maybe that could be my first footprint...LOL

I agree with the 5%, I was wondering why the original "10%" was not matching with my numbers.
5% for something that I might use one day is probably worth it. Worst case, I will go back to your very stable 1.08.
Thanks NFSFAN!

No you can't manually install the new Manila2D. It isn't only that. There are more components that are required for footprints to work. Just flash to the latest beta.

I've been looking at the manila2d options in the Bell 1.27 rom, but I can't figure out how to get the music widget to launch the window media player, rather than the htc player. Is there a registry hack that will let me change this? I've been using the Touch wired remote, and it works perfectly with windows media player, but not so well with htc player (no volume control).
If there is no reg hack, is there an XML script that I can use to re-assign the music widget?
Thanks

Downloading new Alltel Beta 2 now... can't wait. I know with flashing from Beta 1.01 to Release 1.01 my aGPS settings stayed, only thing I had to do was re-install Shadow-Tech's Alltel Carrier Cab (which applies the proper registry settings); I wonder if I'll have to do that again this time around or if the built in aGPS support will take care of all of that??? I'm also anxious to see if MMS is working this time around too ;)
Thanks for all you work on the new Beta NFSFAN... as always, your releases are the very best!!!

I'm trying out beta 2 of sprint 1.09 now and so far so good, working as I suppose it should, but how do I go about changing the right softkey back to "Programs" instead of camera? I know to use M2DC but is there an exe or something to link it to or what?
also, I cannot get a GPS fix. on 1.08 I was getting a lock rather quickly without tweaking it myself at all, and this one tries for a couple minutes and then says it is too weak or something. It could be because I'm in my dorm room, I'll try when outside later, but with the old rom I had no problem getting a lock in my room.
Finally, Footprints looks fun and everyone seems to be enjoying it, but what is it's use exactly? I've only clicked on it once and saw a few categories, and I know it has to do with GPS which is why i haven't really been able to test it without my gps working, so what is it's purpose?
edit:
when i try to enable aGPS it says it cannot connect to the server with my connection or something like that... what does this mean?

GPS should work just fine. The agps server settings in the rom are done correctly so that isn't a problem. When you change the softkey, make sure that you link to folderview.exe in windows dir.

Hey NFSFAN. I've been using your ROM for a while now, and I couldn't be happier with it. Thanks for all your hard work.
That being said I just had one quick thing I wanted to point out. The in call volume doesn't seem to be working correctly. According to your comments in post #239 on p.24, the 12/19 release fixed this problem. I remember it being fixed in that build, but not in subsequent builds. I hope I'm not just repeating this known issue, but thought I would mention it. Thanks.
Oh and I'm using 1.08 Sprint ROM

Just a question for you or anyone else that may know, I've searched but can't find how to set up my touch to automatically come out of standby when I plug my USB cable into it?

Quick question all... my carrier is Alltel and I flashed the Bell rom to update my radio, and then flashed to NFSFAN's new Alltel Beta 2. The only problem now (even tho it's not so much a problem but moreso a quirk) is that anytime I reset my phone the Bell splash screen comes up (instead of the Alltel one). Is there anyway to get my Alltel splash screen back or to get rid of the splash screen at all???
Thanks in advance for all your help!!!
EDIT: Actually on my wife's Vogue (without the radio upgrade, but with NFSFAN's Alltel Release 1.01) it doesn't even show an Alltel splash screen. It just has the HTC splash screen and that's it. On mine, I get the Bell splash screen, then the HTC splash screen. Anyway to get rid of that annoying Bell screen would be much appreciated!!!

Not a big deal I just changed to a visiting time zone in the clock settings. What was an issue was I was unable to get my voice mail notification to go away. No matter what I did. I recently switched from WDM 1.6 to the new NFSFANs roms, I tried 1.01 and 1.02. On both of them however I could do finger scrolling very easily as I had on WDMs rom. I really like these roms except for this problem. I can only scroll when I use my thumb tip and press alot harder on the screen than usual, this is problematic though since sometimes it registers as a screen tap. On WDMs rom by pressing and holding the screen then moving your finger before the right click type menu came up it would act as a dragging tool. Does anyone know how to do this on NFSFANs roms? A RegEdit maybe? BTW I tried Ftouchflo, but it disables Touch Response.

I'm on NFSFAN's Bell 1.27 (Final) ROM, I had 1.26, and 1.27Beta 2 previous.
With my job (Pilot), I change time zones all the time. Bell's original wm6.0 stock ROM that the phone came with took 10-20 minutes to update which cheesed me off. Ever since wm6.1 it hasn't been a problem, changes the time as soon as I take it out of flight mode. Don't know if this is due to wm6.1 or the enhanced radio (3.42.50).
I'm waiting for Beta 3 to flash 1.28. I'll let you know if the time works fine on it.
Did you install any additional programs like G alarm etc that may be interfering??
What radio are you using??

Coming from 1.06, and screen draw is noticably slower. I used to be able to scroll through system menus, and it would look very fluid, especially when dragging the scroll bar.
Now with, 1.09, it's very stuttery--like the original Sprint ROMs that came on the phone.
This ROM has some cool additions though... I especially like the "Car Kit Awareness." Before, I had to keep my BT discoverable for my car kit to connect to my phone.
Now, I can leave BT on, and not discoverable, and it connects just fine. I presume it does this by searching, finding the car kit, and temporarily making itself discoverable, and then connecting.
GPS seems to connect a bit faster than on the previous ROMs... I haven't had a great deal of time to play with it, but so far, the screen draw is the only disappointment. Thanks for the hard work!

I just installed the Sprint 1.08 Rom last night and love it. Sorry I haven't had time to read this entire thread but I seem to have a problem with a Internet browser. I loaded Opera 9.5 on it becasue I like IE but each one has their benefits. But everytime I tap the screen to type in Opera, it opens the keyboard I've selected but immediately opens the "keyboard" on top of it. I can switch back to the keyboard I wish to use but everytime I tap on the screen to type it does it again. Any idea whats going on and how to fix it? Thanks

The reason that the screen draw is slower, is because I updated the system build, from 19208, to 21014

Is that because of different GDI settings, drives, or is just a slower base build--flat out?
I like it for the added features, but I like the fluidness of the older...

Just loaded the 1.09 on my sprint touch, it's running great. I'm not really a fan of all the vibrations for everything, but I'm sure I'll figure out how to kill it. The only issue I seem to have is that it just keeps coming on in my pocket, even when it's locked. Maybe not a rom issue, but I didn't seem to have it before.
Thanks, keep up the great work.

Vibrations = TouchResponse. Check your "system" tab.
Turning on = These phones always come on like this. Checking email, IM, tower change, you name it. That's what S2U2 is for ;)

Under Sounds & Notifications go through and turn off "Display Message on screen" for all the things you can live without. Everytime you get a message on the screen, the phone wakes up and is then active in your pocket.

It will come on, regardless of this setting.
The phone wakes up for SMS, no matter what, even if it's a background system SMS for push, or IM.
Mine wakes up when it's about to check mail, without push.... and it wakes up many other times, with no notifcations present,

GPS should work just fine. The agps server settings in the rom are done correctly so that isn't a problem. When you change the softkey, make sure that you link to folderview.exe in windows dir.
That opens the program file itself, what do I link to for the launcher as is used to be last version ?
Cheers

Yea, I'll fix this next release.
Also the "1" is a different size then other numbers listed in appointments
For example, I am using the calender for my class schedule, so room number 3117 has the 3 and 7 the same size as the class name, but the 1's are a little smaller.

Also nfsfan I forgot to answer you regarding my problems with 1.27 rebooting all the time, I think it was because I had an earlier icoke unlocker. I switched to 2.31 and now every flash goes smoother.

this SOUNDS stupid but if you look it makes sense....
on page ONE where all the ROM's for different providers are: the SPRINT one is 1.08. however some of you reference 1.09 and also i've seen 1.09 up for download on down the forum a little ways (not sure on the exact page number or post number but i did see it yesterday when i read this entire thread). so as you probly already know - my question is, to be UP-TO-DATE, which one should i have installed?
again, i know 9 comes after 8 so you would think 9 would be the latest but why isn't that one on PAGE ONE like the others?
i currently have 1.08 and it's the $h^t! :D

1.09 is still in Beta. Its on page 13 of this thread. I have used both and would personaly go with 1.09 because I feel is plenty stable and adds some nice things from IOLITE.

The ROMS on page 1 of this post are "Final" releases.
On page 13 you will find the betas. Beta means test, NFSFAN will release new ROMS as "betas". The community (you, me, and everyone else) flashes them, tests them and report back on bugs (READ to see if your bug was already posted, keeps the threads clean). NFSFAN will fix the bugs, and perhaps release a new beta. Once he feels the ROM is fully stable he will release it as a final.
1.08 is the final Sprint ROM, 1.27 is the final Bell ROM. 1.09 and 1.28 are the respective Betas.

One issue I'm having, I've already posted about it a few pages back:o
When I plug my phone in to my pc usb port while it is in standby, it does'nt wake up and connect activesync automatically.
I have to push the power on button, and it quickly wakes up and connects.
Is this by design? Does everyone else's work like this?
Is there a way to change it so that it automatically wakes up when pluged in?
Thx for any help, can't wait for the next upgrade!

my city wasn't their either - and i found out how by searching in this very thread! if i remember correctly the name of the file you'll be editing is HH_(some numbers)_WeatherCities ....and you'll be able to find this in the windows folder. connect it to activesync find the file, edit it in notepad AFTER YOU ---> (get in the properties of the file - remove the check beside READ ONLY) then edit in notepad. and throw the file back on your phone. waa-laaaah!

i did find that post you mentioned, i did copy the file to my storage card, right clicked on checked on properties - both read-only and hidden were un-checked... so there is nothing to un-check on that..
secondly - i did read on some other post that i should be able to copy it to my local hard disk by connecting via active-sync - and when i tried to - i cannot see the file when i connect.. i can see it on my touch - but not on my laptop... and i did check the option to see hidden files on my laptop

aight man, let me break it down for ya.....
connect thru activesync. click explore. open My Windows Mobile Based Device. open windows folder. (might take a minute to open this) then find the file i spoke of earlier - HH_0409_WeatherCities (this is the exact name of the file on my phone). copy/paste it to your desktop on your computer (NOT ON YOUR STORAGE CARD!!!!). take the check off READ-ONLY. now right click and open it with notepad ie. OPEN WITH... now what i did here isn't necessary but it does make it easier. find a city thats in your state. copy the whole line, paste the line directly under where the one you copied exist, change the name of the city to whatever you want. save the file. put it back in your windows folder.
this should give you no issues what so ever! however, if you're getting the city in there and it's just not downloading the info just wait a day or so - it will.
BTW, i'm using Sprint 1.08.... so if you're on 1.09 and this isn't working, well then thats my new excuse as to why i'm not using 1.09. lol

I actually like the fact that I need to press the power button to "wake up the phone".
One thing that actually annoyed me was the phone automaticaly connecting to active sync when plugging it in, and constantly updating when you were in the middle of something. I downloaded activesync toggle to avoid this a while back. With NFSFAN's ROM I was pleasantly surprised that I don't need it anymore. I can plug my phone in to charge in the hotel, and surf the net without active sync popping up.
Personally I hope NFSFAN doesn't change that, if you want it to connect just turn the screen on first!!

step 1)
On your phone use "total commander" (or other file manager except for the default one on the phone) to copy the file over to your storage card - you will NOT see the directory due to rights permissions with ANY version of activesync so stop trying
step 2)
THEN connect to your PC and copy via activesync or explorer depending on your setup from your phones storage card to your PC as you will have the rights to do so from your storage card - physical connection works better for this than bluetooth but thats your choice
step 3)
edit the file as needed
step 4)
copy the file back to the storage card, while on the storage card you should be able to overwrite the file
step 5)
while on the phone reverse step 1 coping the file from storage card back to the phones windows directory

OK, your on vista I believe right? if so, then when you open explorer and browse over to your "mobile device" and then have the option of phone or storage card - open the storage card and then press your ALT key from the menu that appears goto tools>folder options and on the VIEW tab uncheck "hide protected system files" and make sure to "show all files" is checked then see if you can see it, its shouldnt be hidden but....
If you are using bluetooth and still cant see it - physically connect the phone with your laptop via the cable and try

is the LG KS20 a HTC Vogue? if the answer is no, then probably not ...
Firstly your phone is GSM and this ROM is CDMA - so if you want to flash it AND it should by whatever gods you hold dear actually work, it would be nothing more than a notepad with really crappy graphics LOL
Seek out the GSM phone threads and you should find something along your phone make/model that will work for GSM networks

This may be a nonsensical question but I've searched and haven't been able to find anything specifically discussing this topic, so I figured I'd ask you all: After taking a new picture, clicking the message link that pops up and choosing New Picture Message, is there any way to insert a contact into the "To:" field? I mean I know some of my contact's numbers off the top of my head but it's a pain to get to this screen only to realize that I have to cancel out of everything, look up the phone number in the contacts list, and restart the whole shebang over again; with SMS you can simple click "Menu->Add Recipent...", I'm hoping the same can be setup to work with MMS...
If anyone has any thoughts it would be much appreciated...

Hey All,
I just put Bell 1.28 on my phone today, and all i can say is I love this rom! NFSFAN did an awesome job on this! I'm just trying to work out a few snags I've run into.
I upgraded my phone to the new bell rom to get radio 3.42.50. Then I ran icokeman's unlocker, then flashed to NFSFan's Bell 1.28. I did let custiomizations run, and I'm not sure if I was supposed to (Bell is my carrier).
I can't seem to get the GPS working. It just sits there looking for a satellite. I've abused the search function, but I can't find the answer. Can someone tell me if I did the flash procedure correctly, and if I'm missing something?
Thanks!
NFSFAN
3rd February 2009, 11:17 PM
Yes, you did everything correctly. Always let the customizations run on my ROM. Did you let the customizations run on the shipped rom from bell? If not, then I suggest you reflash and do it again. GPS should work fine, unless you are trying it from your basement. Or a metal-reinforced apartment building.

NFSFAN - can i uncheck it as i guess in your 1.08 version it might have been unchecked which is why i could see it from my computer...
also when i connect my phone - earlier i used to see 3 drives - now i just see only two - storage card and root drive... just wanted to mention it to you..

Hello, two questions...
I'm using the latest Sprint beta...
1. Is it possible to have the Audio Manager show in the task manager? Will this require a new ROM or can this be done in the registry?
2. Can the "player" page in Audio Manager be linked to the original Audio Manager player screen, instead of the Audio tab? Could this also be done by just editing the registry?
NFSFAN
4th February 2009, 04:04 AM
There were never 3 root folders. Think about it, there is the phone's internal memory and the storage card. The other folder could have possibly been the bluetooth shared dir. There is no need to unset the system attribute on the windows dir. The computer sees it with or without that set.

Just a little heads up!!!
I will be releasing new ROMs tomorrow, beta of course. I will also release an experimental no carrier 6.1\6.5 hybrid. The hybrid will have the following (6.5 core, 6.5 shell, 6.5 kinetic scroll (only works when you kill touchflo\manila2d), 6.5 IE new build supporting kinetic scroll. I would only advise those who are good at testing my ROMs and know how to report properly on certain issues. I will say right off the bat that the HTCVolume does not work, and there may\may not be a few other issues. Don't expect to install the CHome cabs floating around on xda, as they don't work. These are ripped off the HTC Juno smartphone, so don't expect it to work. The core will be pure 6.5, the system will be a hybrid of 6.1 & 6.5 components I handpicked for this test run.

These are ripped off the HTC Juno smartphone, so don't expect it to work. The core will be pure 6.5, the system will be a hybrid of 6.1 & 6.5 components I handpicked for this test run.
Sounds great, look forward to testing it and getting back with you on any details I discover pro or con...

Hey NFSFAN,
I love your ROMs but I just came across the program from the other HTC phone called Yoda. It's includes Phone Book, Phone, and Speed Dials... and all of them are really nicely done able to fix QVGA and really fast. Much better than what you have in you latest ROM. Is it possible for you to add this to you new 1.09 ROM for Sprint and all I guess?
Here is the link to that program.

Thanks,
First its YOTA, not yoda but more imprtantly see this line right in the beginning "NONE OF THESE CABS WORK WITH CDMA DEVICES." not to say that it cant be made to work with CDMA phones and the fact they state that it cannot be changed as it was listed from the Russian phones on the Yota network and they dont have the source code to alter anything to make it work with CDMA devices either
Other than that it looks nice, and its stated its faster, but I dont see anything thaat isnt already available in some sense and the developers would need to work on a compatable version first before a CDMA version would be workable

In M2dc you'll notice an option to back up your theme.
You should always do this first thing, on the original theme. Some themes are missing various parts, and as you go from theme to theme you'll notice things going aray.
Whenever I change themes I load up my backup first, then apply the new theme I want.
A new beta is coming out soon, if you don't flash to it (which will also solve your problem), let me know by pm and I will post the backup (original NFSFAN) theme for you.

I am using Bell 1.28 beta 2.
Google Map version: 3.0.0.2 includes Latitude.
Currently when trying to log in, error: "This program requires a data connection, and will retry automatically. In the mean time, please check your signal strength."
I do have connection, and google map works just fine.

if you are still having problems connecting to latitude with the new rom, (it did not work out of the box for me).
What I did was set my connection so that private networks go through the internet (Settings/Connections/Advances/Select Networks).
Then reset the device and go straight to google maps (dont connect to internet yet) and try to login then, worked for me ;)
Good luck
EDIT: DONT ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO THAT JUST MAKE SURE WHEN LOGGIN IN YOU DONT HAVE A PREEXISTING DATA CONNECTION

The sprint 1.09B3 ROM is working great for me. Got all my apps loaded and tested. Thank you!
I noticed one registry entry that's incorrect:
HCU\ControlPanel\BackLight\AutoSensor=1
Setting AutoSensor=0 will allow brightness control apps like MVBklight to work. I believe the AutoSensor setting is for phones such as Touch Pro with light sensors.

Hi folks,
I am a new member here, but have a question. When I installed the stock Sprint ROM, GPS worked fine. I then installed the 1.09 beta 2 ROM and GPS didn't seem to work. I then installed the 3.42.50 Bell Radio and now the Bell splash screen still shows. I did not allow customizations and installed the 1.09b2 immediately after. I still get the Bell splash screen, and no GPS. Can I get rid of the Bell screen and is there any specific way to get GPS to enable the first time? I used to have to use Sprint Navigation to bring it up and then it worked in Google and Live Search. I don't see Sprint Navigation installed and when I use GPS Viewer, a bunch of satellites flash briefly every so often but there is no lock. I am currently downloading beta 3 right now and can install that if needed.
Thanks in advance and I apologize for the newb questions.

I think you are talking abotu something else.
There is a BT icon at the top of my phone, all the time, 24/7 (whenever bluetooth is enabled).
If I connect A2DP or a headset, *another* icon also appears that shows the headset type.
The first icon is what I want gone. It was not there in the custom ROM I flashed before this, so I know there is some way to disable it. I just can't figure it out.
Another post on XDA said it was tied to the phone dialer skin, and indeed, if I turn off the dialer skin, the icon *goes away*, but then the dialer is busted.

I assumed it meant it removed the *necessity* for certificates for your connection, but if it disables push email I won't be able to upgrade.

This is an amazing piece of work you have pulled off here sir. Job well done.
Have you tried the exchange server on this ROM?
FYI: The certificates are not removed, just the certification check is disabled, this way one can install unsigned programs, and it also speeds up program access time.

I am kind of skeptical about releasing it. There are really no useful additions over the current 6.1 stuff. There is the updated Internet Explorer, non-working htc volume, manila2d has to be disabled along with touchflo in order for kinetic scrolling to work. It doesn't bring anything new over the current 6.1.

Wait, do you mean with the latest ROM it is impossible to use PUSH email?
What exactly does "removed certificates" mean?
I assumed it meant it removed the *necessity* for certificates for your connection, but if it disables push email I won't be able to upgrade.
Yes, Exchange works with DirectPush. Been using Sprint 1.09b3 all day - definitely the fastest yet. Footprints is pretty worthless to me, but it's easy enough to disable.
The best yet! Thanks, NFSFAN.

I downloaded the Bell 1.28 beta and it looked great, but I couldn't get footprints to get my location and I also couldn't lock onto any GPS Satellites. I tried in Google Maps and Live Search as well as GPS Viewer. Waited about 5 minutes before I gave up. On 1.26, I was able to lock on in 15-20 seconds.

Ok, I misunderstood what you meant. I cannot connect to my own exchange server where I work, on this new rom.
It was about certificates, and the like. My question was simple, do i need to install a third party app, so I can get certs back working so I can get exchange?

Hey,
Just a base question to start, after loading the ROM on both of your devices did you immediately hard reset allowing it to install again?
I personally never just load a custom ROM without doing that step, for some reason always seems to correct ant inherent issues that would have arose from just a single install.
After that, what have you installed after installing the ROM? any software installed post flash could be causing an issue as well - something setup to synch automatically at a specific time through the night that while your PC or Phone may have been in a sleep or low power mode and the connection causing the phone to "freeze" up when you go to grab it in the AM.

I usually flash twice and that helps in the long run. A little extra time on the front end will save bigger problems later. I have also gotten into the habit of using SK-Tools to do a full system backup and that helps when flashing to a new beta. I have the full version, but I think the shareware version does it as well.

Anyone have any luck with AGPS? I never get a GPS signal from work (even though I am next to a window) and I was hoping that flashing to Bell 1.28 would automatically use AGPS to find me through cell towers but I still can't get a lock.
Is this a hardware limitation or a setting maybe?

Hey man,
I love your ROMs but new beta one bricked 2 of my VOGUES. Seriously, I returned one because my screen stopped working. Sprint game me another one for replacement. After first successful try to cock the ROM, it restarted after cooking and stopped at the HTC logo. When I took it back I had a whole bunch of problems explaining what happen. They said that this was my last time to replace the phone with same issue. I will try my last time to do it for the 1.08 version, hopefully it will work.

How exactly does one perform a double flash of the ROM. After installing the ROM, it states that it will reboot in 3 seconds, and then it installs additional programs. Do you do a hard reset after this, or before the 3 second notification? Once you've Hard reset, I assume you get the tri-colored screen. Do you just run the ROM installer a second time at this point?
Thanks - Anything to make these phones even more stable is welcomed.

Personally I wait until after the customizations, doesnt take long and doesnt hurt ... once its done and it reboots then press and hold the red and green buttons and insert the tip of the stylus in the hole at the bottom next to the mini-USB interface and hold until the gray screen appears then hit the center of the D-Button and wait just like the first time

Firstly did you have the upgraded radio on your phone before you flashed it? this may be the issue with the "bricking" you are talking about
Secondly and by your own statement the store has replaced phones for you before for the same issue, Ive ran across this several times with friends/co-workers Vogue phones and it is NOT the ROM, flashing back to factory default would fix it then, no? its a known issue with the Vogue to have a somewhat crappy interface with the touchscreen, if the store will NOT exchange it for you in the future, go over their heads then to asurion directly or to another store.
Three phones for co-workers I have flashed phones for several times have had this issue (the "bricking), one of them though I did have to flash back to factory default, unlock, reflash the radio 2X and then upgrade the ROM and has worked fine since - the others, one had the screen stop before I even touch it and the other was after a flash and a tap on the table actually corrected it for a time but he took it back in a couple days when it stopped again

Why cant i use Google maps? I cant get my exact location making Foot print useless
the GPS feature is not exact by any means, and depending on the source can be anywhere from 20 meters to 200 meters off
I personally dont think the footprint app is useless, but I do think its just a gadget or a toy, basically something "shiney" to play with and show some geek cred on da streetz LOL
even with the stock 6.1 ROM when aGPS was enabled my location would be anywhere from my driveway to 3 or 4 houses down the street, I dont need that exact of a location and if I do, thats why I have my Garmin nuvi 255W LOL
Now from your question - will google maps work at all or not at all? if it finds something close to your location it IS working just not very accurately and thats going to be an issue for your provider and google to work out

What kind of building are you in?
What kinda of signal strength does your phone have there? and is it a "bouncing" signal" (bars jump from 0 to 5 and back to 0 or you bounce from 1X to EV and back
I have a similar issue at home, upstairs next to window is hit-n-miss but downstairs not even near a window is rock solid - phone works like a champ upstairs just aGPS fluctuates
Try it outside directly and see if the aGPS works better there in an open park/parking lot or something first and try and narrow down what and where the issue is occuring at...

Is there a way to extract the updated bell radio and just include it in the rom as a sorta newb/dumbass version, or is it more than just the radio file? From what I understood, the flash would fail with the wrong unlocker, so that keeps people from skipping that step...
Its almost like we need a new RUU that has cokeman's unlockers (both) included and has some automated stuff to it...

Not exactly sure I understand what you mean, but if I am understanding you correctly you want the unlocker, the radio AND the ROM all in one package?
If that is what your seeking, it doesnt happen that way - there are LOTS of write-ups and step by step instructions in installing a custom ROM and its assumed (and rightly so) that YOU take the time to read, read and re-read the directions before undergoing the process and the latest bell radio is already separate and if you search you'll find it as well as all the precautionary warnings that go with it
you cant package them all together as you need to unlock the phone first to do anything to it - then upgrade the radio via a small base ROM image - then flash to the custom ROM you want to use
The radio is not 100% needed as long as you have the minimum required radio version (usually 3.42.3 or higher) as 3.42.5 is the latest I know of and works good, but Im really not seeing anything more than the base needed other than a bit better tower locks
But to what your wanting, that doesnt really exist as you cant unlock and flash a custom ROM at the same time as the unlock itself is a flash in itself as well of sorts...
Hope that helps

If your running the Bell 3.42.50 then you have the latest (at least latest I know of anyway) have you gone into settings>connections>GPS Settings and looked in there, try checking (or un-checking) under the 3rd tab (ACCESS) the setting for [Manage GPS automatically] also make sure that under [PROGRAMS] the GPS Port is set to COM4 and under [HARDWARE] the hardware port is either set to NONE or COM4 and that the Baud rate is at least 4800 , you can bump that up a setting or two but it really wont help that much

I use an alternate calendar app on my ppc (pocket informant) and, after it installed, I am still getting the WM calendar popping up when I hit the calendar button on the home screen. not exactly sure but from what I can find it seems to be in:

I created a file originally and it was there and confirmed by then creating another one after looking up that location and the additional file was also present

if you are still having problems connecting to latitude with the new rom, (it did not work out of the box for me).

Thanks for the reply, Csquared, but that is not what I am looking for. A soft key is the word that sits at the bottom of the window. I am after the, what I'll call button, that is on the home screen (or widget?). I don't know if the button is hard-coded to open the calendar or if it is in the settings.... I have already set up a soft key to open the piCalendar, but it is kind of redundant.

I assume you are then referring to when you press on the actually calendar item within M2d. That I believe is hard coded to the standard calendar. I thought you were referring to the left soft key that says "Calendar" after you flashed. That can be changed to any program and titled anyway within the M2D Customizer, which it sounds like you already did.
If you find a way to change the calendar let us know. I use Xtreme Agenda and would like that as well.

Regarding Footprints, where in windows are the files saved...which folder? I'd like to back up the files. Does anyone know?
Just curious, how can I use footprints images on PC? Is there some custom application from HTC that allows that?
Thanks,
BBoy

Just click on footprints then press Menu, Export.

Thanks. Will let you know if I find a way... although I guess it might be possible for NFSFAN program the Calendar item within M2d to execute the registered calendar app (in my case piCalendar) rather than the calendar app in the windows dir.
Cheers
It is hardcoded in the manila 2d app. If you want to use another calendar app such as piCalendar or what ever it is you guys use, rename your application to calendar.exe, and replace the one in the windows dir.

Great Rom!
Can the newest beta be used without footprints? cute but silly little appy IMHO...
seems the newest beta fixes the few problems that remained in the previous release...
And one other Q - how to set the default ringtone directory to be on the media-card?

Just go on your sd card and tap and hold, select set as default ringtone. You can take out the footprints tab from m2d, but the application will still be there.

So I have a friend who has verizon and he wants to try the beta 3 with footprints to locate stops on his business route. I've heard of GPS fixes for the verizon vogue but since I'm with sprint, I haven't paid much attention to them but my buddy just asked if I knew anything. Can anyone help me out? Which one will work work best with NFSFAN's Roms? Can someone give me a link? Thanks

If you find a way to change the calendar let us know. I use Xtreme Agenda and would like that as well.
Tracked down this app and it works ...

Hmmm?
Using file explorer, I tap and hold the new direcory I made for ringtones, but that option (set as default ringtone) does not come up...
I think you might have misunderstood?
I want to associate the DEFAULT RINGTONE DIRECTORY... so when I browse a contact I can automatically go to that directory for a tone... instead of the 12 silly simple tones included...

normally, you can just mp3's in the root of the SD card and they will appear in the list, not sure if there is a way to change the DIR where it looks

So far I've only encountered this little bug here. Otherwise, this Beta is pretty much stable.

Looks like something similar to the calendar issue with the previous beta. Hopefully it doesn't require much to fix.
EDIT: In other news, for anyone that's having trouble with Google Latitude, I found a way to make it work with no hiccups. Just enable GPS and let it find your position. Once that's done, disable it. Then exit Google Maps and launch it again. It should log into Latitude no problem. Hope that helps anyone trying to get this to work!

This isn't a bug. You've changed the theme, and the Manila2D upon which the theme you are using is based on an older version. The new Manila2D is vastly different from the old ones. If you use the theme that I made, you won't have any problems.

Yea, in the registry go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Rin g"
In there change the directory to "\Storage Card\(whatever your directory is)".
