This isn't a bug. You've changed the theme, and the Manila2D upon which the theme you are using is based on an older version. The new Manila2D is vastly different from the old ones. If you use the theme that I made, you won't have any problems.
OK thanks!

Just click on footprints then press Menu, Export.
I did that, but result is Footprints.fdb and I cannot find any program that can open fdb extension.
My question is is there any custom PC application that can use footprint images on PC (including GPS coordinate)?
Also images from \Application Data\HTC\HTCFootprint\thumbnails are without any embedded metadata. Looks like all GPS information and other notes are saved in some external database, what is unfortunate since without it images cannot be shared or used by any other application. It will be really cool if developer used XMP format for saving extra info directly in images.

I messed this up by installing a new theme... :o
Do you think you could upload your theme to fix it? :D

Does anyone have a problem in opera? The spacebar + t9 on the full qwerty seems to be stuck at times. Or the letter keys don't work. I was using NFSFAN's opera 9.5 or build 15202. + VZW 1.12b3, but the problem also appeared when i flashed back to 1.11.

I cant get my phone to download my email now. I'm wondering if it is because my mail provider reqires authentication on outgoing port 587. Is there a place I can set the port? I havent been able to find it in any menu, maybe a registry key?
Im a bit of a noob, but I learn quickly and have some background in IT. Great ROM by the way. I had problems when manually dialing numbers on my stock ROM. It woud always dial random people in my phonebook. I think it had to do with having 1800+ contacts and not being able to search as fast as I can dial. Yours doesnt seem to have the problem. Kudos!
Thanks in advance fo your help.
Im not sure what happened, but it is working now. Sems like the GPS apps break the phone while they are running. When GPS is trying to lock, the phone is almost unresponsive to touching the screen, and it seems the connection to the internet must have been broken too. I killed everthing in task manager and everything is working again.
I do have a couple of new questions. What happened to the feature where you slide your finger up and the 3d menu pops up? It looks like you just incorporated the functions of that into the today screen? Not complaining just curious. And should I be worried about upgrading the radio from 3.42.30 to 3.42.50, or is it even worth the trouble? Thanks again for a great ROM.
LOL I am such a noob. So the new menus and such are like the diamond. I'm still curious about the radio, but my pal informs me I am in the wrong part of the forum and should ask elsewhere. Thanks anyway. Cant wait for the 6.5 ROM to be done, keep up the good work.

Great, does it work for you
worked fine. It is the only app that does what I wanted, as far as I could see.
NFSFAN - the author of the app offers it it up to guys like you to include in your rom. he gives you some code so you can set up some of the specifics for your rom (which really helps twits like me).

just a quick question about how safe ICS is to use: if the New York Times can detect that I am not using a mobile device (page request made by IE 7), how is it that Bell cannot do the same?

Not that hard to find - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425974
through the M2D Customizer cabs are no longer as widely used (still are and can be just need to install then reset within the customizer - directions are on the thread) as they can be be .zip format and extracted from the zip file directly

I think you are talking abotu something else.
There is a BT icon at the top of my phone, all the time, 24/7 (whenever bluetooth is enabled).
If I connect A2DP or a headset, *another* icon also appears that shows the headset type.
The first icon is what I want gone. It was not there in the custom ROM I flashed before this, so I know there is some way to disable it. I just can't figure it out.
Another post on XDA said it was tied to the phone dialer skin, and indeed, if I turn off the dialer skin, the icon *goes away*, but then the dialer is busted.
NFSFan/Anyone - no one knows how to remove this icon?

I don't see why you would have problems with 1.09 beta 2. I haven't changed anything bluetooth wise since 1.08 at all.

So I have a friend that has a verizon vx6900 and he wants to have GPS. I've updated it to my sprint 3.42.30 radio (didn't let the customs run). I think it actually runs a little better than the leaked verizon rom with the GPS hack reconfigured on it. Although that didn't make the GPS work. I now have put NFSFAN's 1.12 b3 rom on it and he loves it but am still trying to figure out how to get his GPS to work. I found this link http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VerizonAGPSFix to get it working but I can't seem to download any of the programs and none of the pictures will appear on the page. I've also heard of a cab file you can install but not sure if its the best to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone else use PCAnywhere?
it used to work just fine on bell's latest stock rom, but after flashing beta3 (first time), it wont connect.....even though it's using same settings as before... just says 'unable to connect'
Is this maybe related to the Latitude connection problem?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found the problem between the keyboard and chair.

Just downloaded Sprint 1.09b3. Working well so far.
1. GPS locks in Google in about 4 sec. Much better.
2. No longer overlapping appointments in Touchflo.
3. Programs seem to load quicker.
Where in this topic is the Sprint 1.09b3? I went to page 1, but it only shows 1.08. Searching the thread didn't turn anything up that I could find.
Thanks in advance.

What kind of building are you in?
What kinda of signal strength does your phone have there? and is it a "bouncing" signal" (bars jump from 0 to 5 and back to 0 or you bounce from 1X to EV and back
I have a similar issue at home, upstairs next to window is hit-n-miss but downstairs not even near a window is rock solid - phone works like a champ upstairs just aGPS fluctuates
Try it outside directly and see if the aGPS works better there in an open park/parking lot or something first and try and narrow down what and where the issue is occuring at...

Hi Detroit Doug, I'm in a office building, mainly concrete I guess. I never lose signal at my desk, a constant 2 to 3 bars on EVDO. As soon as I go outside, I get a sat lock in about 20 seconds, so no complaint there.
My question is aGPS should be using data transfers and triangulation to help determine location, right? If I disable GPS on my device, will aGPS kick in? I doubt it'll work, but I'm willing to play around with it. Is there a way to know "which GPS" is trying to function and determine location?
Tell me if I'm getting this complety wrong!
Thanks.

Ever since I upgraded to the iolite ROMs, I've had problems with programs closing themselves. I even modified the registry entry to disable autokill.
I have to run the following:
ActiveSync - Exchange (as items arrive)
Dashwire - Auto sync
GPSToday - Geotagging pictures
OZ IM - Always connected
SEVEN - gmail (as items arrive)
Quite often, I find one, or even two of these programs have closed themselves... happens 5-10 times each day. This never happened to me before. Is this solely because of the iolite M2D eating up an insane amount of RAM? It's sitting at 74% right now, when previously I'd swear it was at 50%-55%.
I don't understand why programs are closing... I've never seen it go above 80%. If I open up Opera, it's almost gauranteed to kill GPSToday, or Dashwire.
Do I have any options, aside from going back to a previous non-iolite ROM?

If your carrier is doing aGPS properly, then you can get GPS, assuming you have cellular signal. If your building is blocking your cell signal, theres pretty much a 0% chance that you will get TRUE GPS either.
That being said, HTC devices don't seem to REALLY do Sprint aGPS. On my M1, which has a similar hybrid aGPS chip, I could get locks in the bottom floors of hotels, in thick concrete buildings, and other crazy places, and it never took longer than 2 seconds to get a lock.
With the Vogue, it takes anywhere from 5 seconds to 20, assuming you are outside, or in a friendly building--near a window/etc..
I miss the true aGPS :( I sat my phone next to my co-worker's Instinct, in one of our server rooms, and both opened up Sprint Navigation. His locked in less than one second, and mine never locked--ever.

Firstly you do NOT have GPS on the phone, there is no "true" GPS chip-set/antennae within the phone itself (think Garmin, TomTom, etc) to my understanding aGPS (assisted Global Positioning System) utilizes a form of triangulation from your cell tower network and positioning by a form of pinging the towers for timing then doing the math it calculates your distance from each and gets an approximate location. (this is all guesswork on my end havent spent the time to actually confirm this info)
Ive noticed in locations around here (Im in Las Vegas) if I am having issues with obtaining locks I make sure auto roam is enabled on the phone, soft reset and try again, takes a while because of the nature of the beast it will attempt a home network connection first then drop to roaming so be patient (and make sure you have a proper plan as roaming will make for a huge bill at the end of the month

Ive never had to wait to long for a signal since the 1.07 ROMs of NFSFAN (or a select very few other Chefs ROMS either) and Sprint (my carrier) used to be the big dog locally here but as since dropped by the wayside and has been difficult to utilize aGPS of late but this series of ROMs have had no issues obtaining both fast AND accurate locks (accurate per the warning on software e.g. google maps, MSN Live, etc of the accuracy being within so many meters of actual location)
Personally, Footprints and even more so Google Maps w/Latitude are geek toys for me, not saying that they are not useful for someone whom would actually utilize it fully (road warrior sales types, vendors and the like) but for the average user working in an office or tech center (as I do as I am in the IT field) but they are not of use other than a shiny coolness factor simply as I know where all my PC's, Printers, Servers and the like already are and dont need a footprint to determine a photo/location map LOL and I wont even go into the security issues of google's latitude (look it up its an interesting read) and how it was released without really thinking about or having in place a secure and safe ability to only allow certain users to know where you are or your family are...
I agree with ScrapMaker though it is NOT true aGPS nor was it intended to be moreso a new way to utilize an aGPS like service with lower cost and lower power configurations.

I believe there really are GPS chips/antennas in these devices. The gpsOne chipset is capable of fully-standalone operation. It depends on how you configure it on your individual phone.
Any way you slice it, it's still not that great of a GPS solution. I use it mainly for local searches, but 99% it would have just been faster to type out my location, even with the touchscreen--which I can't stand after playing with hardware QWERTY phones...
Clearly, this is not ROM-related--but I think more of WM in general. I wish I could figure out what allows dumbphones with the same GPS chip to lock on immediately, even in a basement...

The Vogue definately DOES HAVE true GPS (Just like TOMOM, Garmin.....) I use it all the time snowmobiling where there is no service. The GPS is Very accurate too. Not as accurate as my Garmin handheld, but more accurate than my bro's Nuvi. the vogue will get me within 10' of actual locations. IGO8 is the best true gps software available curently for the phone, with Garmin Mobile being a close second.
aGPS works flawlessly on the phone as well, but comes down to provider as to how your experience will be.
My GPS works perfect in the elevators at work, so it is not a hardware issue, and I am lucky that I am on the same carrier (Bell) as NFSFAN is able to test and experience the performance same as I get.

I'm with ScrapMaker on this one. I pretty sure there is a GPS chip/antennas in the devices. This should explain why we get no signal inside and a good signal outside. Also, when I use GPS Viewer, it tells me how many Sats I connect to with a multitude of info. I doubt we would get that for cell towers.
The reason I started all of this is because of the option "Enable AGPS" option found under Settings>Location section of the ROM. I thought that AGPS would help locating me if I did not lock any Sats but I'm now thinking that AGPS will help to locate you faster but will still require you to get a lock on a satellite.
As far as usage of GPS, there's no need to have to justify it. Obviously footprints is a toy, and I've debated wether I'd actually use this or not, but I'm the kind of person who tries to get the most out of what is available to me. The day I need GPS capability to locate me and give me directions to somewhere, I'd like it to be able to.

Hi, I may have found a beta bug. I am using Sprint 1.09 Beta 3 and I am mysteriously losing my internet connection after having the ROM installed for a few days. It's as if my phone completely forgets it can connect.
I don't have any different apps installed that I didn't have in previous versions of the ROM when I didn't have this problem. I have tried the following at least three times and have been unsuccessful:
Hard Reset with a full system restore
Hard Reset without any kind of restore besides PIM
Run Internet IOTA settings in Phone settings (won't even open the IOTA settings dialogue when this issue is going on)
Install a DCD cab for operator settings
THANKS for your input.

I do have one question:
in Touchflo in main screen 2 of the soft buttons are mapped to Phone (left) Camera (right). In previous ROM it use to be Phone (left) Programs (left). Programs use to take me to Programs screen in Touchflo. how do I map the right soft button to Programs instead of Camera?

I have used many rom's since I got the touch and I have to say I am very happy with this one. Prolly the best I've used yet. I'm using the Alltel Beta rom and so far other than the Google Latitude login problem this rom runs very smoothly. As for the Google Latitude I read in a previous post that it had something to do with the theme. I have not changed the theme from the original. So I am not sure what the issue is. But, the trick with disabling the GPS did it for me.
NFSFAN, you've done a wonderful job with this rom. Keep up the good work:)
I'm new to the whole Footprint program. I'm still trying to figure it out. One question for anyone who knows about it though. I use Google Latitude and would like to know if there is a way to share my pics and locations from Footprints with my buddies on Latitude? This would be a great feature if it is possible. I see that Footprints logs the location in Google Maps but I dont see any type of Latitude sharing options for those Footprint locations.
Thanks again...

Has anyone else had issues with the latest round of betas requiring hard reset? I flashed to Sprint 1.09b3 last week, and my phone stopped working Saturday. The alarm didn't go off Saturday morning, and no apps were launching. I soft reset, and then it wouldn't boot (hung at one of the HTC screens) after multiple soft resets.
Just now, all the apps disappeared from my Start menu, and nothing was launching. It's now hung at the Windows Mobile splash screen.
This time, I only installed S2U2 and NFSFAN's Opera. I also changed the M2D theme. Any thoughts?

Flash the stock rom. Flash back to mine. It should fix your problems. Many other people complain about this. I haven't been able to reproduce it. I hope the final release of the roms will fix this issue. I've changed the tool I use to relocate the modules, and I've replaced all the language mui files in my sys, with clean 20765 (latest WWE ones). The previous roms and betas used a compilation of older sys langs.

Detroit Doug
Yes, the phone definately has a true GPS antennae.
You can even check out how many satelites you are connected to with some programs. I've had 5 metres accurracy with 9 satelites, and 200 metres accuracy with only 3 satelites. Obviously the more sats, the more accurate your fix.
AGPS helps the GPS standalone by triangulating cell tower signals, hence your location. It then uses a method called Kalman filtering to determine best postion.

I still cant get it to work. Had a guy with more experience look at it. He did the same things I did with the same results. I love the ROM but could it be the problem? Can anyone confirm that their Alltel phone has functional GPS with this ROM?
Is my phone an older version or something? How could I tell? Any help is greatly appreciated. I have the burgundy color Alltel Touch.

Yep, does the same for me.... Though, it only won't work when in my Gmail Inbox...
It does, like normal, bring up phone the un-set up Outlook Email.....as well as in the Text messages inbox (brings up confirm number to call screen)

In my case it does not work in Exchange inbox. In Text inbox everything is OK. When Email is opened - also OK. Only in list mode it ignores Phone button.

Anyone know how to delay the curtain on phone canvas. Many times I want to make a call and then press the speaker phone button. By the time I go to press the speaker button the curtain is up. I just need it to delay maybe another 2 seconds.
I don't know how to delay the canvas... but I do know that to turn on the speakerphone even with the canvas in place, hold down the green talk button for about 2-4 seconds. Just make sure to start pressing it before the screen turns off if you have it auto-shutoff the screen, otherwise you'll have to turn back on the screen first.
Trick works on all the WM dialers I've come across, on all sorts of different devices :) (picked it up from a samsung omnia thread)

Auto-shutoff the screen? I'm in the habit of just shutting off the screen before I put the phone to my ear... How do I go about setting it to auto-shutoff?

I'm quite sure that this is how the calendar has always worked in WM...
The softbutton refers to which view is NEXT in the cycle.....not the current view you are in.
So in month view, it says year because year view is the next view that will come up when you press the soft-key.

quick question:
I got a Vogue last year and right away unlocked and updated the ROM with a custom NFSFAN Rom . (Bell, Around June 08)
Since then I have not done anything else with the ROM or radio and have only used it as a phone/web browser (gave up on the GPS cause it would never lock).
Now I want to update it again with the newest NFSFAN custom Rom for bell.
Do I still need to run the coke unlocker, and can someone refresh my memory on what I need to do to upgrade?
Stats:
ROM Version: 1.11.BELL
ROM Date: 06/23/08
Radio Version: 3.37.10
What versions ROM and Radio should I be downloading, or is it all included in the NFSFAN custom ROM for bell?
Also, do I run the Bell update (from HTC site) first, and then install the custom ROM?
Thanks in advance

Activate it first, just in case something goes wrong. Why wouldn't you activate it since the stock ROM is already on there? Don't forget to unlock.

This is what I would do:
1. Get the Bootloader screen up (press top power button & camera button at the same time. While doing so insert stylus in bottom hole under red end key and hold for a second or two. This should load the tri color bootloader. See if it says SPL-2.31.Coke. If so you are unlocked still. Just soft reset phone to get back to current ROM. Proceed to step 2. If not you will need to unlock again.
2. Update your radio to 3.42.50 by downloading latest Bell update. See this short thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480554.
3. Then flash latest NFSFAN rom

I have had this rom, (1.27? stable - not the current beta with footprints..) for a little while, and last night I connected as "usb" instead of active synch... I noticed the following, and would like confirmation as to this being normal..
- could only see the SD card, not the phone 'device storage'. Is this normal? most USB devices (my mp3 player, other devices that support built in memory + SD like cameras, etc) you see 2 drive letters.
- when I disconnected a minute or 2 after putting files on the card, I get a prompt on the phone that says "do you want to view your pictures". I select NO, and now I have "storage card2" and any applications that I installed to the SD card memory are broken...
Is that normal??

I hope its ok to post this here. After flashing a Bell Touch, I can't get past the Bell blue screen. Here's what I did:
1. Followed the imCoke unlock procedure. Confirm ok since I can see SPL-2.31 CoKe on my tri-colour bootloader screen
2. Eventually booted back to the standard Bell ROM
3. Ran NFSFAN's ROM update. Here's where I screwed up. I didn't load a new radio. Instructions are all over the place on the web and I missed this part.
So now I've tried loading the Tital radio 3.42.50 .nbh from the SD card using the power/camera/reset procedure. I get a "loading" white screen so something is happening. Still boot to the blue Bell screen and no more.
I tried also re-loading NFSFAN's ROM .nbh from the Sd card, Bell's standard ROM, no luck.
So since I can get to bootloader and see CoKe 2.31, can anyone give me steps to either get back to Bell's ROM or over te NFSFAN's? Hopefully I haven't totally screwed this up. Thanks ... Pete

NFSFAN or anyone,
Hi, I'm sorry if this is considered off topic but since you've done a lot of customizing with your ROM I was wondering if you could help me with something.
Do you know of there being any limit to the 'maximum' number of SMS you can have in a threaded conversation? Reason being, I text with my gf a lot since last October and since last week, all the old messages are gone, and only the messages starting last week appear. My other friends whom I don't text as much have all msgs since the beginning.
I know the messages are in there, because if I turn off threaded SMS from the manila2d customizer, I can see ALL the messages since oct. It's just the threading for my gf's convo seems to ''reset" starting last week....did I hit a limit or something? Also...it seems that PIM Backup restored all convos fine (in threaded view), but my gf's texts from last week onwards don't appear in the threading, only my own. But all NEW texts from her appear in there and are threaded properly....
thought you might know since you've put in the 'sms settings' under settings etc.
thanks!

Thanks ... Pete
4thought, have ou been able to resolve your problem? If you cannot load the bell ROM from EXE you will have to extract the VOGUIMG.NBH from it then copy it to the empty FAT32 formatted OEM SD card.
To extract, simply run the exe with updated radio (RUU_Vogue_BM_WWE_3.09.666.1_Radio3.42.50_Ship.exe ) and stop at the first installation screen. this expands the exe into its constituents. Look for the VOGUIMG.NBH file in your temp directory, there should be 20 files including the VOGUIMG.NBH. Copy that to your SD card, reinsert and reboot and you should be back in business.
Another way is to remove and replace the 2.31 unlocker with the original 0.40 locker, then to run the updated OEM EXE after that, as the 0.40 loader will allow being overwritten whereas the 2.31 won't. You should then be back to square one, with the updated radio and OEM ROM. From there you should be able to proceed as previously planned.
Hope it helps...

another thought I had (besides asking if there is a way to fix the fact that the phone now thinks my SD card is storage card 2..) - what about the cool sprint animated logo that is in the sprint rom? I kinda liked it. kinda an "inyerface" logo when I booted near an iphone user who's 3g was slow as phuck...

I had that problem... thought i was screwed, BUT...
get to the bootloader with the: power, camera and reset button
then run the bell rom exe file. you may have to flash twice for some reason. Anyway, that fixed the problem for me... i hope it works out for ya.

While connected to your computer (via the usb cable) you should be able to flash the latest Bell rom while at the bootloader screen.

Brilliant! I always assumed I'd have to be in activesync mode to load that ROM. Worked like a charm.
So I still want NFSFAN's ROM. On boot at the HTC logo I see some red numbers/letters. One is R: 3.42.50. I assume that's the radio and it's at the version needed for NFSFAN. Correct?
I also see from the bootloader screen that I still have CoKe 2.31.
So am I set now to run NFSFAN's exe?
All the help is really appreciated guys. Thanks!

Do you think you can add the new Firefox browser to the final build? Would be pretty cool.
they just released the PRE-aplha version of mobile firefox and its for VGA devices, as eager as I am to see this built, I wouldnt suggest adding it yet let alone using it unless you are sure of what your doing on your phone and willing to spend ALOT of time hard resetting your phone and the like

Hello All,
I tried out the latest v1.28 beta 3 of NFSFAN's ROM and installed Opera 9.5beta into NFSFAN's ROM. Each time I opened up Opera 9.5beta, it switched to standard keyboard. Is there a way to prevent it from doing that under NFSFAN's ROM?

Won't this prevent users from enrolling a certificate over ActiveSync USB, (the only way a lot of us can do it?)
Currently, you use the one that asks twice if we are really, super-duper, sure if we want to install a certificate...
The default one is single-click.

One more question, I'm not sure whether this is due to the ROM or not.
When I sent an SMS and it doesnt go through I get a message saying the message was unable to be delivered and that it will be saved in the drafts folder.....
this has happened many times when I'm in a poor reception area and the message is NOT in the drafts! Nothign is saved!
Does anyone know what's going on? Does it have anythign to do with the ROM?

Are you guys talking about the actual camera, or viewing the picture after the fact? The picture will view small if the resolution is set down. To view fullscreen the res must be set to 2m.
If this isn't your problem, reflash making sure to flash from the bootloader mode. As the ROM is made for Sprint make sure you let customizations run.

When setting up my exchange I let it automatically detect my settings, after it comes up with:
"exchange server webmail.alpa.org must enforce security policies on your device to continue synching do you want to continue?"
I selected yes and my exchange mail has been working fine, I had to reflash because while testing I managed to mess the theme up really good!!, it worked the second time around as well.

Hi,
I'm new to this and I really like your ROM. I was wondering if it's possible to have the option or setup something as default that when you go on the messaging Widget and press on a text that the orientation goes into landscape automatically without installing a third party app. I have a HTC Touch QVGA with Bell.

Damn, this is like the awesomest release. I'm using the Sprint 1.09 beta 3 release on my Sprint Touch/Vogue, and it's pretty much flawless, and Footprints works PERFECTLY!
I did notice a few things, which I would like to direct towards the development of the Sprint beta.
The data connection seems to turn on automatically, even if nothing is accessing the internet, and it doesn't turn off, unless you turn it off forcibly. O_o
The Internet tab doesn't work when you try to launch the broswer, but that might be why it is disabled, possibly for development reasons.
The Touch cannot handle MPEG4 video in higher resolutions, like CIF, so I used Motion JPEG, which is fine (though memory-hogging.), but the Album video viewer doesn't support the format when you try to view it, so you have to use WMP. It would be cool if the album viewer supported the file format.
Btw, I also realized that this ROM is MUCH faster than the stock WM 6.1 ROM, lol.

You can install the Bell radio on your VZW touch by unlocking the phone w/ coke unlocker, then flashing to the offical bell release and not letting customization run, (soft reset before customization runs) However your fine with using the 3.37.78 radio too, however there were issues in the past w/ gps and vzw customization in their 6.1 rom. I'm sure there are apps like vahalla gps that fixes that. Any 3.xx.xx radio will do since they are gps radios.

The stuck data connection is the result of using a GSM dialer.
For the internet tab, you can use M2DC' to set the dir of the browser you want to use. It's under the internet tap in m2dc. So if you wanted to use opera mobile, you would direct it to operal.exe where ever you may have installed it.

NFSFAN - I figured out why I couldnt send out email...
My outgoing server requires authentication, in the account settings, there is an option for 'use same name and password', which I had enabled. When I turn that off, and specify the username and password, it works and I can send mail.
Seems like a bug. The username and pass I used were definitely the same.
Great ROM other than the tricky outgoing email that it took a freaking week to figure out... on my own. I also cant get the GPS to work and I cant seem to send out picture or video messages either.
Can anyone provide any advice on my other two issues or am I stuck figuring it out myself? :-P
Also, I know I am a noob, but I think I am capable of testing the Alltel ROM as well, as long as it is far enough along to not brick my phone. It's a work phone so I cant take that risk.

When you flshed to 1.01 did you let customizations run? As this is an Alltel ROM you should have. The only time you do not want to let customizations run is when you are upgrading to another carriers radio, ie Bell 3.42.50 etc.
I am also going to assume you are unlocked? This is required to flash to a custom ROM.
The GPS should, as long as you have a 3.XXX radio and 6.1 ROM, work "out of the box". Mine worked no problem with the stock Bell 6.1 ROM, I've used 5 of NFSFAN's ROM's and have not had a problem with any of them. For the record under GPS settings, use COM4, Baud 4800, and if asked let windows manage your GPS settings.
Once launching Google maps, select "use GPS", place by the window and wait.
Good luck,
Jason

My GPS has never worked. My phone didnt have GPS functionality AT ALL out of the box from Alltel. It didnt even have options for it.
Here is what I did from start to finish.
Went to HTC site, downloaded latest RUU from them for my phone. This file: "RUU_Vogue_4350_ALLTEL_WWE_3.10.671.1_RS3.42.30_NV2 .02_PRL30031_SHIP.exe"
Used PIMBackup to make backup.
Installed and let everything run.
Then I used this: "Vogue_unlocker_MFG_2.31.exe" to unlock the phone.
Then I downloaded and installed the NFSFAN ROM.
Then I restored using the PIMBackup tool.
I heard that the newer stock ROM included GPS functionality, apparently originally not included in the Touch from Alltel, so that is what prompted me to flash the phone. I called a co-worker familiar with the process and he told me about this site and to find the ROM with the most positive feedback and best screenshots, so I chose this one. By the time I was ready to flash to the new NFSFAN ROM I had already updated the stock ROM from HTC hoping to fix an issue with the phone calling random people from my phonebook when it didnt recognize the number (even when the number I was calling was in the phonebook the whole time).
Maybe that helps explain the circumstances and can help solve the problem. Were the early adopters of the Touch jipped out of the GPS hardware? Mine is maroon colored and I got it almost a year ago.

Believe it or not, I have read about half of this thread.
I didnt want to be the new guy popping in to say "tell me how to do that one thing that you already told 5 other people the process for".
I actually asked already if I needed to upgrade the radio and was told that my version should work just fine (see sig for version, I cant remember). Started my own thread in Vogue Upgrades and everything. But I had just upgraded it to the version it is at now using the RUU from HTC I think it upgraded it anyway, it says 3.42.30 when it boots up, is that where the problem is?
Thanks for the advice. If I sound a little frustrated, I am, but I really do appreciate everyone that tries to help.
Also, I keep seeing mention of the Alltel ROM having problems with SMS... I can send texts just fine, but pics and video are no-go. Aren't SMS plain text? Anyone know why I cant send pics and vids?

It shows during boot, as if it is the Bell ROM that is still loaded, but when I go into the system info for the phone it shows 1.01 Alltel for the ROM. I didnt see an Alltel loading screen at all.

Officially, the radio is not my problem. I am on the current 3.42.50 radio from Bell, have a Bell splash screen at bootup, and the phone is doing almost the same thing it was.
Instead of just not connecting, it now gives me a message that it is having a hard time connecting to a satellite, asking me to move to a place with a clear view of the sky. I'm in Erwin, NC, the sky tonight is very clear and I held the phone up above my head standing in my driveway (where the TomTom works).
I also found that if I disable the checkbox "let windows manage" or whatever it says, in Settings-->Connections-->GPS Settings, the phone gives me a message that it cant find the receiver. Settings are as advised, software port com4, 4800 baud, none under hardware. I am using the Google Maps app to try and get a fix on a satellite, it may be what produces the messages rather than the phone. Im not sure.
I should also mention that anytime I try to use the GPS my phone becomes nearly unusable. The buttons on the screen act up and it's hard to do things like press the start button, close a program, hide the keyboard, etc.
I saw another thread saying something about the PRI. My PRI is 2.02_011. Appears to me that is old, at least older than a few I have seen people claim to have. But I also understand that it is carrier specific? Anyone know what the latest PRI for Alltel is, and how I load it?

You need to upgrade your radio using the Bell ROM. Look though the thread here and you will find out how to do it.
No, he should not upgrade the radio to the Bell one. He should stick with the one given by the provider, through updates.

It sounds like you did everything right. The phone acting up is wierd. I don't think it's a ROM issue. Your old radio should have worked fine, the Bell should definately work.
Try this:
1. reflash the official Alltel wm6.1 ROM, let customizations run
2. Reset the phone, ensure the radio is 3.xx
3. place it into bootloader mode, ensure it is still unlocked.
4. Install google maps, try it and make sure it works. If your radio is 3.xx and you have wm6.1 it should
5. Flash NFSFAN'S Alltel 1.01 ROM, let customizations run.
If your phone still acts strange after step 4, something else must be wrong.
Good luck
Jason
If NFSFAN says stick with your Alltel radio, the's a good reason for it. The steps I gave you should work.

Thanks for the excellent ROM NFS, will the official final release be any different from the test final? Any chance of getting the operator tab option put back in or a tutorial on how to do it?
Thanks again, after a few days of testing I can say this is your best release yet.

The only thing i can think of is to double check the MMS registry settings... everything looks to be there, however the "Allow delivery report" checkbox was checked and typically that needs to be disabled...
You kow, i checked out the touch pro at an alltel store and it does have arcsoft 5 with the same settings as I have... i bet arcsoft 5 would work with the vouge if we can determine the correct registry settings.

I have a Sprint model but the same thing was happening to me as well. I was able to fix the problem by flashing the stock Bell rom (did not let the customization run) and then flash the beta rom.

SO I am finding different instructions on how to get the GPS to work on Alltel. They seem to be a bit old though, and I am wondering if they are outdated now.
Someone here said they had Alltel and the GPS worked... how did you get it to work please kind sir. If there were special steps please let me know.
In the meantime I am going to try the new release and the four step zip file enablegps from here http://www.smartdevicefreeware.com/how-to-enable-gps-on-the-alltel-htc-ppc6800/
Hope it works. I know it says it is for the 6800 on the page, but the link was in the vogue forum. I found a couple of different versions, one with 3 files and one with 4.

Sometimes up to 11 Sats. in a minute. All the application's I've added work great. Still, I'm going to have to try this new release. Thanks for not leaving the few of us Telus uses out. Cheers

Did you read my post a few pages back?
If you tried that and failed sorry man, that means i'm stumped about your situation as well.
When you heard some Vogues don't have GPS, correct.......sort of.......this is a case with elfins (the gsm touch with wifi). Some people buying off ebay have been stuck with clones that are not built the same. I haven't heard of Vogue clones (being CDMA, ie..no sim card). If you purchased it at a retail store you should be safe.

Thanks anyway, you have been super helpful. I did reflash the stock ROM, then tried to run GPS to no avail. Stock ROM only has GPS setting "External GPS" under system tab in settings rather than in connections.
I tried several 'gps enabling' tips and tricks, including multi-part files, different versions of the Alltel stock ROMS, and even a Sprint ROM.
What I was referring to was in a ppcgeek thread. It said "Unlockers for Custom Roms on Vogue 2.31(GPS) and 0.40(nonGPS)". http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370

That sounds like the right one. The version should be 1.09 if you were running the 1.09 beta before. Actually, a lot of developers name their apps RCx (release candidate) once they are released and out of beta testing (outside the phone ROM world). But I think you are good to go, grab that 1.09 and have a blast!

Okay...first of all I would like to give a huge thanks to NFSFAN for all of his work in compiling this ROM and keeping us up to date with everything. You do amazing work and give a lot of your time to making this stuff available to us. I would personally like to thank you for replying to me and working with me the past day or so on trying to get the GPS working on the 1.11 ROM, but I didn't have any luck after following the directions you gave me. I tried several different ways after trying what you told me and still didn't get it going. Once I saw this release tonight, I was determined to figure it out.
I think the issue is that people have installed different cab's and registry entries and things like that which are throwing off the GPS setup once they install your ROM. I was never able to get the GPS working with 1.11 or the earlier one I tried (forgot the version, but not important). Thing is, flashing back to the Verizon ROM isn't erasing all the changes made via the cabs (Valhalla) or is it erasing the QPST settings...it's not putting us back to a "STOCK" 3.77.78 radio. These steps will get us there...which is just what your ROM needs.
VERIZON WIRELESS PEOPLE LOOKING TO GET THEIR GPS WORKING WITH THIS ROM:
The following steps if followed exactly will get the GPS working, as this is what worked for me tonight...read through all of this before you start because there are some things that need to be clarified...you'll be sent to a couple different places, but don't follow their instructions exactly...keep looking back to these steps, and read ahead.
1) Follow the instructions located here, http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?title=Pocket_PC_WIki:FIX_VERIZON_GPS. However on step #4 use the official Verizon release with radion 3.77.78 located here, http://www.pcdphones.com/phone_downloads.aspx?bid=95&cid=1&mid=302&carrier=Verizon%20Wireless (http://www.pcdphones.com/phone_downloads.aspx?bid=95&cid=1&mid=302&carrier=Verizon%20Wireless). The links to the things needed for steps 1 through 3 are right next to the instructions, just click on the number and it will download. The best way to make sure the customs don't run is to not tap the screen when it says 'Tap the screen to begin setting up your device' or whatever. Just continue to the next step. MAKE SURE NEITHER ONE OF THESE ROMS INSTALLS CUSTOMS, if you do it won't work.
---Make sure when doing these steps you are connected via USB to a USB port that is directly connected to the motherboard of your computer. Don't use any USB hubs, monitors, docking stations, etc...some users have reported errors this way.
2) Once you have flashed the official Verizon ROM and are sitting at the 'Tap the screen...etc' go ahead and flash with NFSFAN's new 1.12 VZW ROM.
3) When the NFSFAN ROM is installed go ahead and setup the device and let the customizations run. Once it reboots, follow steps number 1-15 on the XDA wiki located here, http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VerizonAGPSFix. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T DO STEP #16, if you do it won't work.
4) After the phone reboots, which is step 15, continue on with steps 17 & 18... REMEMBER SKIP STEP #16.
5) Once you completed step #18, go ahead and dial *228 and choose option #1. When the lady says everything was successful and says goodbye give it a second and go ahead and soft reset.
6) When the phone reboots you will be good to go... either open GPS Viewer and set COM4 and hit OPEN GPS or just open Google Maps and choose USE GPS...make sure you are outside or near a window...it will locate satellites and lock within about 30 seconds.
7) At this point you will need to have your phone re-authenticated by Verizon Wireless... easiest way to do this is call #8899 which is Mobile Security division...just tell them you need to have your phone re-authenticated and it takes them about a minute or two. All you need is the mobile telephone # usually.
I know this may seem like a lot of work, but it can all be done in less then an hour depending on your skill level and such. I've tried to make this as clear as possible for everyone else that is having these problems. If you have any questions let me know, but this WILL get your GPS working with NFSFAN's ROM if followed to the T. This worked on both my fiances phone and mine, of which neither would be able to get GPS on these ROMs before. Good luck...now get to flashing. :D
Huge thanks again NFSFAN... hopefully this will get all the VZW people up and running so they can stop bothering you about GPS not working and more time can go into whatever you bring us next...keep up the great work...
Regards ;)

Okay. I have added my city to the XML file. Now... I had already chose Fayetteville, NC for my weather app, HOW DO I CHANGE IT?
LOL, to be something so simple I have spent ten minutes trying to figure it out. None of the settings or menu options say anything about changing the city. What if I did a lot of traveling and wanted to switch it up?
If GPS is enabled in the Vogue, and aGPS works too, would it be super difficult to have a follow-me weather app option that changes automatically depending on where you are?
Anyhow, I just need to know how I change it without reflashing. I have had a bate of that for now.

You would only change the XML file if the city you want was not one of the preset cities in NFSFAN rom. If your city was not listed try this.
1. Open the XML file on your desktop in Notepad.
2. Then change one of the lines in the XML to your city by replacing the city name. You will need to replace it 2 times on the single line.
3. Save the file. You might have to rename for now (I just added a 2 at the end of the name). Make sure you save as an xml file and not a txt file.
4. Copy the file from your desktop to your storage card.
5. On your phone open Total Commander and locate the file on your storage card.
6. Rename the file back to the original name of the file.
7. Now copy the file and put it in /Windows. this will replace the original file with yours.
Thats it. It should now show as a location in the weather tab.

Yeah...you know I updated that early this morning when I got to work and realized I was getting any phone calls...lol. I wasn't going to call anyone at 4:30am to see if it was working or not, and forgot to do a simple test call to make sure. You have to authenticate because we downgraded the radio and brought it back up, Verizon's servers can see that. It's a simple process though, and I included it in there...

The reason for the re-authentication is because of changing the RADIO version... not the ROM. You don't need to go into airplane mode when flashing a ROM, it does nothing...as it is no longer in Airplane mode once the new ROM comes to life.

Man... I wish someone would do this for Alltel.
I'm not to sure this process might not help you too. Do other people have it working on the Alltel network? If so, I would say to follow the first link in step #1. Follow it down to where it has you flashing a Verizon ROM, and at that point flash with the latest Alltel ROM as long as Radio version is 3.XX.XX (or whatever ROM Alltel users used to get it working). Once that is complete and at the 'Touch here...' screen, flash with NFSFAN ROM. After that I would think you should be good to go.
The thing is...all the changes you made trying to get the GPS working are still existent when you flash back to stock ROM. This process downgrades the Radio to one without GPS. Once you reunlock with ImCokeMan's 2.31 unlocker and install a new GPS capable ROM, the GPS radio is as good as new without any mods on it. Obviously I'm on Verizon and can't test this theory for you, but you can give it a shot. I would think that if other people have this working on Alltel this would fix your issue.
There's always a chance I could be wrong, so don't be mad at me if it doesn't work. If you have any problems or questions let me know...

Man... I wish someone would do this for Alltel.
Ok Ok Ok... here ya go:
1) Download and install HTC's Official Alltel Windows Mobile 6.1 Update Rom (http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=64&cat=2&dl_id=115) and let customizations run; this will enable GPS on your Vogue (Verizon customers don't have this luxery which is why they have to go through a bunch of extra steps to get GPS on their Vogues)
2) Download and install ImCoKeMaN's v2.31 Unlocker (http://rapidshare.com/files/113951076/Vogue_unlocker_MFG_2.31.exe) and follow the instructions here (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370) to install it and unlock your Vogue
3) At this point your radio will be at v3.42.30; if you want to update to the Bell radio v3.42.50 this would be the time to do it although it is not necessary in the least bit (if you choose to update your radio, search the forums and you can find the how to info quite easily)
4) Download and install the latest NFSFAN Alltel custom rom (http://74.53.45.2/~evadmin/nfsfan/Public%20Releases/Alltel/NFSFAN%27s%20ALLTEL%201.02%20ROM.rar)on your Vogue and let customizations run
5) Once your phone reboots, follow my aGPS Tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3202675&highlight=agps+tutorial#post3202675) exactly as detailed
6) You should now aquire your Satellites within 30 seconds, regardless of whether you are indoors or outdoors.

@NFSFAN -
I'm currently running your last beta for Sprint, NFSFAN's SPRINT 1.09 BETA 3 ROM
Is there any difference from the Beta 3 to your latest release?
@Anyone using Verizon Rom.
I installed the last Verizon beta on my friend's phone, but we can't get Picture Messaging to work.
His phone was brand new (replacement) w/ radio 3.77.78.
We unlocked it, and installed NFSFAN's rom.
Then did a hard-reset.
Everything else seems ok, but he can't send picture messages.
Thanks.

The changes are all available to read on the bottom of the first post, not alot of detail as to each change per individual carrier, but overall instead...
Personal experience since flashing to this last night, smoother, touch faster (as it seems anyway) everything else seems as solid as the 1.09 B3 version as I didnt have any problems with that version and what little there was I corrected in my personal customizations of the phone

when pressing ##7788# on the stock sprint rom it would let you into the msid screen. Now, I am running the 1.09 (have not updated yet) beta 2 sprint rom with the bell 3.42.50 radio and it won't let me into that screen. Should I flash to the stock sprint rom, run customizations then flash to your 1.09 srint release? Also, what are the unlock codes for the phone codes folder in there?

It seems contradictory, but disable your Data Connection before signing into Latitude. If you have an active connection Latitude tries to establish one of its own and is, in turn, unable to connect.
This subject has also be covered pretty extensively in previous posts, so Search is you friend...
Hope I've helped

I hope this could be included in the rom, so that we don't have to do this each time we update!
Thx
Unfortunately aGPS needs to be manually enabled on our Vogues... there's no "automatic" or ".cab" way to do it that can be worked into the Rom (at least that I am aware of)...
It looks like alot, but once you get into the process it's actually not... I was just VERY detailed in writing the Tutorial!

Hey all,
well having had zero luck with latitude since it was released, I figured I would try again just for laughs and although it did the same as it always had with it causing an error on signon, a simple reboot and then startup the google maps right away, signon and test and it worked like a champ
not really a fan of latitude for the security issues and the potential issues that could arise in tracking anyone with a gmail address and a GPS/Latitude enabled phone (search the net, there are some great writeups on the security issues and potential problems) its nice to see it does finally work
now to go ahead and disable it again LOL

PointUI 2 (Beta) Free Version works with this ROM like a champ...
Just some info for those of you playing around with wanting a different interface other than the TF2D (at least all the time that is) you can check it out here
http://www.pointui.com/products/home-2
now READ and UNDERSTAND this next part - PointUI 2 is free as it is a BETA - for those of you now understanding the work behind a BETA, let me explain it to you - it is NOT, I repeat NOT FULLY FUNCTIONAL!!! there are limitations in its apps and widgets and the Weather screen as well as other features will require you to edit a XML file, if you are not sure what that means, probably best you stay away from this, for those of you that do know what this means well then enjoy you little script hacking happy campers LOL
currently this runs independently AND very quickly on this ROM, so you can install the cab and then manually disable TouchFlo and run the Home executable and play away, Ive managed to add my location (Las Vegas) into the weather app as well as manually add the proper X/Y co-ordinates as well to get the dot close as well as the proper RSS news feed but it took a bit of time and rework and rework the rework and etc - so again if you are not sure what you are doing this will be almost useless to you other than a nice demo of an updated interface but those of you that like tearing your phones interface apart .. enjoy

Actually its ##778#. Anyhow, it doesn't work because the dialer is GSM, and not CDMA. Just access it from the Phone Codes folder.

Opps, too slow. What NFSFAN said.
Use the phone codes under Start>Programs>System Tools>Phone Codes
And it's ##778# not ##7788#. Anyways, typing them doesn't work, use the phone codes.
The unlock code is your MSL ID code. You need a program to generate that code based off your ESN#.

I have 50posts per page. The post # you were refering to is post # 125, for me that's page 3.
I went to check the change log, but it's been removed.
I checked a few things on the first post regarding changes, like the versions of software, but they match what I have from Beta3.
They say (Feb.12 Builds), but most of them are on the beta3.
If beta3 had no issues, he would probably just release it as a Final, but I don't know.
That's why I was asking.

I guess I did it wrong... lol. I just copied the top line, pasted it at the top, then swapped out the city name for mine in the two places, modified the area, etc to match the scheme throughout the file, and copied it back to the device in the windows folder, overwriting the old file. I got the prompt for overwriting the file, so I am pretty sure I put it in the right place. But it doesnt display the city in the list. Is that because I need to put it in alphabetical order or something?
Oh and for some reason the options for adding a location or removing a location were not available when I posted this morning looknig for a way to remove the city I had chosen initially. They came back for some reason, I couldnt tell you what was wrong.

I had posted previously (#978) when I was using 1.27 for Bell about how I wanted to change the default calendar application that was launched when the calendar key was pressed on the home window (not how to set up a soft key on the bottom of the screen). You replied that the windows calendar was hard coded and could not be changed in any of the settings.
I later found an application on XDA called SSMaPA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407777&highlight=SSmapa+manila+2d&page=1) that enabled me to make this change.
I flashed your new 1.28 today and went to make the change to the calendar butd I don't seem to be having the same luck this go around. The program returns an "UnauthorizedAccessException" error when it is trying to load what it needs to do its thing... I am wondering if you could tell me if you could supply me with the answer to a couple of the questions the program asks in it's setup:
manila filename = Manila2d.exe
manila filename like it is in the homeplugin = manila2d.exe (?)
manila home plugin dll filename = ? I think this changed? to WLMTodayScreen
manila home pluginname (in the registry) = TouchFlo (?)
Thanks...would be a great help... also, would have you introduced any other changes to any of the files that would cause this error (like a file being read only)?
Thanks for all your help.

Firstly, you may have found the app but you might have mistaken it for being for our phones (HTC Vouge/Sprint Touch, etc) as it is in the xda-developers > Diamond > Themes, Applications and Software > [APP][Update 29/01/2009] SSMaPa (Alpha) 0.2.4.3
with this warning [ For all with UnauthorizedAccessException:
Try again with 'Extended Init' ticked. Unfortunatelly I don't have a such phone, and couldn't test if it's really working.. would be happy if you can give a small feedback ]

Ok Ok Ok...
Enjoy!
Thanks. I bookmarked the post. I am all flashed out for now. When I get it done I will post my results. If this works, you are the freaking man.
And no matter what, NFSFAN and jmitr are awesome. The ROM rocks and jmitr has been the most helpful to me to date.
Sorry to steal your thunder, but they deserve some props too.:D

horizontal/vertical sliders in inbound call -
Hey NFSFAN,
One thing I noticed this afternoon I hadnt seen in your other ROMs (beta or otherwise) but my wife had called me and when she did, the GSM style slider - horizontal with the slider in the center and the option to slide left to answer/ right to ignore the call came up for just a second then it popped over to the normal current style with the picture of the caller with the 2 butons (green answer / red ignore) and then to the vertical wall you slide down to get to the incall/end call options
not sure that makes sense in the descriptions but weird action to have happen on inbound call and I dont think I would have even noticed had I not been on the phone playing Uno on the screen when the call came in, I think I only noticed it as there were quite a few apps running at the time and the added memory usage as well as the game running allowed for the slower screen refreshing allowing me to see the dual dialers on the phone at the time of the inbound call
Doesnt seem to have a negative effect at all just something weird is all and thought you might want to know to look into it

I realised ~today~ that the app was written for Diamonds, but I didn't realise that when I used it last week or so to make the change I was trying to make... and it worked! I was hoping for another fluke, I guess. Do you have any idea what the file names are that I am looking for? I know that I have some of them wrong... particularly the home plugin dll.

Hey NFSFAN,
Just bought a xv6900 off of ebay for $76 to replace my memory challenged Mogul. Holy crap, M2D absolutely shines in all it's glory on this device. Luckily the device I bought was the original rom / radio, so easy upgrading from the radio to your rom, to the aGPS fix.
I have always been a fan of no2chems titan roms, but after loading your rom I am absolutely blown away. Your rom FU*KING ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for your work, you have officially killed the Touch Pro envy I was having. So far only one minor bug:
- Set the Internet tab and made IE the default. If I press the bookmarks or browser softkey I get a connection error. If I just press the internet icon, all is fine.
- I have no intentions of using the new big brother feature of google maps, so no issue for me.
Not a bug, but is it possible to change the boot splash screen from Bell to a Verizon screen?
Again, thanks a TON! Absolutely lovinig this device with your ROM. Super quick and very cool. I'll be posting a donation to you shortly!

aGPS Tutorial
---------------------------
After installing NFSFAN's Alltel Beta 1.01 on my Vogue, one of the first things I wanted to do was to get aGPS back working again. I used Shadow-Tech's guide to install aGPS on my stock Vogue rom, but when I attempted to follow the steps again using NFSFAN's Rom, I ran into some roadblocks (i.e. - ##3424, ##3424# would not put my phone into diagnostic mode and I could not find dmrouter.exe in the \Windows\ folder). I turned to my age old friend, Google, and came across a guide for the Telus. Between that guide and some quick thinking I was able to get around these impasses with ease. So, I'm noting my experience here so that anyone who wants to get aGPS working when using NFSFAN's Rom won't have to spaz out like I did.
Note that I am not taking credit for any of this. Props should be given to:
Shadow-Tech (and gc14) with the guide on PPCGeeks.com (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=402134)
TobeyChris with his guide on PPCGeeks.com (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=31437)
and of course NFSFAN for building some a Kick-A Custom Rom
Here we go...
--OVERVIEW--
We will:
Install a PC software package called QPST that allows us to edit a portion of our phone that contains gpsOne settings.
Install WModem Drivers on the PC.
Install the CDMA1X USB Modem drivers on the PC to allow it to detect our phone running in diagnostic mode.
Put the phone in diagnostic mode, connect it to the computer, run QPST on PC, edit the gpsOne settings on the phone.
Soft reset, install the Carrier-specific Cab on the phone to adjust the Registry settings, Soft reset, and test it out.
--REQUIREMENTS--
1. Windows XP computer (Vista should work, but may or may not. If the drivers install and QPST runs, your good to go.)
2. USB cable to connect Titan to PC (duh)
3. This Software Download: QPST and WModem Drivers (http://rapidshare.com/files/142205343/QPST_2.7_b215-Wmodemdrivers.zip.html)
4. This Software Download: CDMA1X USB Modem drivers (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=139729&d=1230105470)
5. This Software Download: Zip file with Carrier-specific Cabs (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15285&d=1223954519)
6. Your GPS must already be enabled.
-If you run WM 6.0 see this thread to Enable GPS: PPCGeeks (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=27180&highlight=alltel+gps+easy+way)
-Or flash the Official Alltel WM 6.1 ROM that is already GPS Enabled, 6800 Only here: Alltel Rom (http://216.139.227.226/alltel/RUU_TITAN_ALLTEL_WWE_3.52.671.9_RS_TITAN_Alltel3.4 2.50_NV2.02_PPST_Ship.exe)

Does anyone know where to find the CDMA1X USB Modem drivers mentioned in this thread. The zip file linked to here does not work.
I am having trouble connecting to qpst and wonder if these drivers are needed with the nfsfan rom...

http://hyperfileshare.com/d/01206bb3 should work. Once you donwload it, you have to add the .rar extension, then unzip it. It's a little newer of a build. OOPS, those are for QPST....
This should work http://www.vzam.net/uploadedfiles/WModem_Driver_Installer_v1.2.2.4_WWE.exe

Try this file. I added Erwin NC into it. Move it to your storage card, then copy to /Windows with Total Commander, replacing existing file. Make sure you soft reset afterwards. I checked and I can add Erwin. Weather looks rainy.
My noob-ness shining through, I didn't soft reset, which was all I had to do. Since I added it at the top of the list, it was right there at the top of the list for me to choose.

AROSS... I cant thank you enough. Your tutorial worked flawlessly, even though I goofed up and closed the DMR program from the taskbar rather than opening it and exiting. I did have to do two soft-resets, but I think that was because I first launched google maps without location setting being on (thought it already was).
Now, in my house I get 6 satellites. It works great!
Anyone with Alltel that has GPS problems, follow the instructions aross shared and it will work!
I should also note that I had already flashed the phone with the stock rom and updated to the NFSFAN rom, so I skipped to the aGPS tutorial part and it worked flawlessly.
This would indicate to me that my Vogue is actually not using true GPS right? I mean I cant connect to GPS sats in my bedroom, right? So it is using some sort of triangulation? I wonder if my location is lost when my signal goes out. I know the perfect spot to test this, close by.

Is it me or the new IE really sucks in the new roms (not only nfsfan's one)
All the fonts are extra-huge, I need to put it to smallest to see it correctly in the screen. And even there, some website will have "normal" fonts and other will be so small, impossible to read...
Also, where is the old View -> Fit to Screen option? I was using this so that website would be formatted to be on the screen. Now, I cannot find this option so I need to scroll all over the place to view websites..
And there is some webpages that would not display anymore. It says: "What would you like to do with this file?" and gives me the option to save, as if I was trying to download a file. (It used to display correctly with the original IE)
Thanks!

NFSFAN - or anyone else who might know -
I am trying to figure out which dll is used for the home plugin. If you could pass it along I would be grateful.
Thanks!
