My original post back on #1946
thanks for you trying to help. but im 99.9% sure that my settings have always been : end programs w/ 1 tap. and i was still able to exit out of the audio manager library 'player', and it would take me back to the music tab still playing the music w/ no stop or pause.
as for ur quick fix, it would work but i think im to set in my way to change the 1 tap exit.(i been forgetting to tap AND HOLD) thank you anyways
so if any1 has any other ideas on how to keep music alive between exiting from library to music tab, i appreciate your thoughts.
and i will admit that maybe its an operator error, there is that 0.01% left
thanks for any help
Try pressing the red end key, and it should take you back to the today screen, or start->today

Hey guys, are any of you guys running pcAnywhere Mobile?
It used to work just fine on 1.28. However, since upgrading to 1.29...not so much.
I've tried twice now. The first time, after flashing, it installed normally and all was good.
It ran once, I was able to make the connection no problem. However, the second time I tried to connect, it just stayed at a white screen... Then, after rebooting and trying to run it again, I get the following error:
"The File 'pcAMobile' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file"
Reinstalling didn't help. I still got the same error right away.
I did a hard reset and tried again this morning. On the way to work, I tested it out and it connected just fine. No problems.
However, this afternoon I tried it again, and....back to that error.
Does anyone have any idea what that error means or what could be causing it? The first time I installed it to the Device, the second I tried the Storage Card....

Hey, I have another problem that I can't seem to duplicate, but will keep trying. Yesterday, I couldn't click on "Start". The word would just flash, but the menu would not appear. I had to soft reset to get it back.
Still a solid rom.
Hows the 6.5 work going NFSFAN?

I am pretty sure he said that he "Substituted proper CDMA Phone files (Removed newer ones, and subbed ones from latest Vogue shipped ROM" So I don't think that it is the dialer. What other programs have you loaded and/or what Reg edits have you made.

I didn't have this issue with the last sprint ROM, but only noticed this issue today... didn't know if it is due to the latest sprint ROM or if it started just today as i didnt get calls while dialing until today since i loaded the ROM.. i have Opera, S2V and the cab for menu enhancements from Rhodium... no reg-edits.. installed 1.10 for sprint in bootloader mode..

Hey NFSFAN, I'v found a few bugs in the Alltel 1.03 ROM so I thought i'd let you know.
(1) Cannot recieve picture mail
(2) First word of sms dont show up
(3) After a softreset memory at 45% after about 4 hours of normal use is at 60%. with no other programs running.
(4) Had to hard reset twice cause it starts turning completly off when backlight goes off.
Also Reflashed and all problems came back so I dont think its a bad flash or a program i'v added or my device. flashed back to 1.02 and all is well.

Did you flash from bootloader mode?
I had that problem when I flashed from Activesync, then I say NFSFAN's post about only flashing from Bootloader and then I did that, and haven't had a problem since.

Hopefully when NFSFAN returns, we can get a test Alltel ROM w/o arcsoft installed so we can test the new arcsoft v5 cab that is floating around for alltel. Maybe at the very least we can use the v3 cab that is out there. I am not sure what is up with pic messaging that is built into the ROM. I have poured over registry settings and have found nothing out of the ordinary. I am going to try a few other things to try to get the cooked version working... if i can find the time. However, the new version may be a cleaner and easier way to get it working for us Alltel users.

Well, I am at a loss. I am on Sprint and have been using NFSFAN's ROMs for a while and never had as many problems as I have with the 1.10 ROM. I loose my data connection seemingly at random and once that happens none of the stock apps seem to work. I launch them and they do not load. When i do a soft reset, it acts like i just flashed the rom or hard reset it and wants to be setup. I have re-flashed with the latest rom today in hopes a re-flash would help but it has not. I have done multiple hard resets as well. SO, a couple of questions:
1) Can anyone PM me or post a link to the last ROM (think it was 1.08) before the footprints addition. I don't use it anyways and thought that would be a good place to go back to.
2) If i have to take it into sprint to have it looked at, can i re-flash with the latest OEM ROM from HTC's site or would that be too much of a downgrade from the 1.10 ? Figure if I am going to have sprint look at it, might as well make it look stock :)
Thoughts?
Thanks, Twisted1

by getting it fixed is the simple answer..
other answer is you dont
Alternative is to flash via activesync, I have flash 95% via activesync and NEVER experienced any issues or degradation or whatever reason there is to do it via bootloader, basically if the ROM is dorked or my phone OS is, then I use bootloader and still double flash anyway

Flashing to a the stock ROM is not a downgrade, its just another ROM
Some people actually like the today screen and the look that comes from the original ROM they just pick a custom ROM without M2D is all

Who's your carrier? Sprint does not support getting the actual picture mail on your phone, I don't know about alltel. You always just get a link to pull it up in a browser.

They may or may not notice that your phone is unlocked even if you simply flash the stock ROM. Also, have you upgraded your radio past the standard release of your carier? There are tutorials about downgrading and re-locking your phone before service, I would suggest searching for those; I've never taken mine in, so I don't know if they will notice the if the radio is different or if it is unlocked.

As an update, the problem is this:
-after a hard reset, pcAnywhere installs normally
-it will run normally (though, sometimes connecting, sometimes saying "unable to connect")
-after one soft reset it no longer starts the program and gives the error in my first post above.
-trying to uninstall and then reinstall at this point causes the install to fail with the error: "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions"
Anyone have any thoughts at all?

It's the switch that is actually broken off the main board, too expensive to get repaired (this is a work phone that gets loads of abuse) and that I will change for some new Winmo toy in the fall.
I've always flashed through activesync without any problems, I just got nervous when NFSFAN mentionned not to do it this way.

Two problems so far:
1) Cannot sync a certificate using Vista WMDC. Crashes the PC-side. Tried 3 different PCs. Works on other ROMs just fine.
2) These ROMs seem to autokill applications, regardless of autokill setting. I have been running WDM's 2.1 Sprint ROM all day, and not a single program closed, even though I got to 80% memory usage.
I can say that NFSFan's ROMs are much, much faster, in many aspects, and I would look over the fact that programs kill themselves automatically, (probably the base build is responsible for this,) but the dang ActiveSync/Certficate/Vista thing kills it for me :(
It worked in 1.08, but not 1.09, 1.09b3, or 1.10 :(

Just a little heads up!! I will release a new revision of the current ROMs. It is meant to address a few issues. Also those complaining about high memory. Remember that I also put a cachefilter in place. So that caches a lot of activity that has been done on the phone, to allow faster access. Not only that, but the Iolite Manila2D uses around a peak of 8.6 MB RAM, on its own.

Any way to strip the Iolite portion out, to free up RAM? The footprints thing was cool for a bit, but I quickly found that GPSToday used less memory and was more practical.
Also, I sound like a broken record, but I still haven't seen anyone else say they got certs working over WMDC. I guess I'm not the norm :(

Don't know if this is a bug or not:
I cannot get videos taken by my phone camera to play on the device. In the camera album, the video shows up and I can see the image, but when clicking to play I receive an error that says "The source filter for this file could not be loaded." I receive the same error in WMP. I do not have TCPMP installed, I may install and check - if it won't play it than it is probably the camera, not the players. Interestingly, the camera won't record in H.263; all the other types (MPEG4, 3GPP2, and Motion Jpeg) cause this error after recording and trying to play back. My video recorded and played fine previous to flashing the rom, so I don't think it is hardware. I did install the video fix ("FSP, DShow, WMP, YouTube etc Video fix.cab") that comes with M2D update 20 to get flash working on my opera 9.5. Unfortunately, did not try recording and playing video prior to this, I would only think that this might affect playback so trying TCPMP might help differentiate this. Anyone else experience this - is it the ROM or something I did?
TIA
EDIT 1: TCPMP plays all the video fine. The problem is with WMP/Camera album.

Awesome! The memory issue doesnt really bother me, I didnt think about the cachefilter, but it makes sense. I wonder if StartClean wipes it on a softreset and thats why it drops back down to 45%. It rarely gets above 70% though so I dont think its causing any problems at all.
Also thought id let you know about the mms, its not working on 1.02 either. I dont recieve alota pic mail so its not enough to give up all the other benifits of you great ROM. but heres what I found.
I flashed from 1.03 to 1.02 and it still didn't work but I did notice when I sent it, my phones back light comes on, so its seeing something but its not making it through.
Then I flashed to Conflippers 10/21 ROM and it worked, then flashed back to your 1.02 (from bootloader) and got the same result. Phone lights up like its recieving but nothing ever comes through.
Hope this helps

I noticed the same thing too. It seems the phone recieves the notification from the server but arcsoft fails to contact the server to download the message. I am not sure if there is an arcsoft MMS service that fails to start when this happens or what the issue may be. In the roms i've cooked, SetMMSD.exe was usually required in the startup folder for MMS to work properly. I have tried the arcsoft 3.0.26.12c cab that i have verified to work with other ROMS (even though that may not mean anything), and it results in the same effect. Even installing the new version 5 cab, I am able to send MMS but never recieve.

You mayhave to change the setings in your messaging. Change message download limit to everything. That may work unless you have a different issue.

I've been running 1.02 for Alltel for a while. Couple problems I have noticed.
When the text messages get backed up, several conversations for weeks, without being deleted, text messaging begins not showing you your outgoing messages in the conversations. Yesterday I was sending messages to my wife and she was receiving them but the phone did not show them as being sent or even created at all.
Similar problem with phone calls, my call log got so full that apparently it stopped keeping track of calls going out or coming in.
Maybe it needs some sort of auto-trim that can keep the number of texts and calls to a certain limit.
Sorry again if this has been covered, or is fixed in 1.03. I looked through a few posts, but there are hundreds of pages to go through.

Go into menu>accounts on your mms/e-mail tab. the menu>options then highlite the account you want to change. somewhere in there there is an option for the download size limit, I think if you raise it it will auto download them. There may also be an option specificly about images. just look around in there and you;ll find it.

i've done the same without results. This leads me to believe the OEM NFSFAN is using is broken, MMSD is incorrect, or SetMMSD.exe is required. I havent had time to test the latter, but i will try in the next couple days.

the last time i flashed this ROM was 6 months ago... and the only way I knew how to flash it is to have the HTC connected via ActiveSync via WMDC on Vista
What does NFSFAN mean by "when you flash a ROM flash it from BOOTLOADER mode, NOT through ActiveSync."
Can anyone explain to me how to achieve this?
Thanks

I'm not sure about this, since I cant access my QPST settings with this rom but I flashed directly from Conflippers 10/21 ROM to this one and had done the QPST fix on Cons rom. My gps worked flawlessly.
Then while messing with my MMS I flashed back to Cons to check on MMS then flashed back to this one without doing the fix and My gps sucked, it was like it was before I found Shadow-tech's fix.
So I flashed back to Cons, did the QPST fix then flashed back to this one and once again my GPS is awesome.
So! My thinkin on this is that NFSFAN's ROM dosent clear the QPST settings.
While I KNOW Conflippers does.
Anyways, like I said, this is speculation since Iv never been able to actually look at my QPST settings on this ROM.

Push your power, camera and stylus reset buttons all at the same time and hold them in till you get the rainbow screen that says 2.31 coke on it.
This is the "bootloader" screen. Then plug it in and click on the ROM Update Utility (RUU) thats inside the NFSFAN ROM folder

Thanks man, your gettin in over my head. Ill keep searchin around for a fix and let you know if I come up with anything.
I dont use it alot and if I do Im usually the one sendeng the pics, but I wo get them occasionally so it would be nice if it would work.
Maybe NFSFAN will have it fixed in his next release.

Push your power, camera and stylus reset buttons all at the same time and hold them in till you get the rainbow screen that says 2.31 coke on it.
This is the "bootloader" screen. Then plug it in and click on the ROM Update Utility (RUU) thats inside the NFSFAN ROM folder
ahh ok,
by plug it in... you mean plug the HTC via USB to the pc right?
.. and i guess the installation is still done by 2clicking thr RUU on my PC right like I was doing before via activesync except this time the Bootloader has to be put on prior to flashing , right?
Thanks!

As well, if anyone liked the clock from my original post here it is: It has more transparency, is black and works better with some backgrounds. When applying with m2dc it adjusts only the clock.

i'm def getting stability issues with this version (VzW). I've had to soft-reset for various reasons and had to hard-reset after I lost my signal and could not recover. Overall some of the behaviour seems slower. TouchFlo is slower to open, applications are slower to open initially.
So far this release has the best set of features, but the worse behaviour.

I am using this Verizon Version and have found it to be the most stable to date.
I have not had to reboot yet and find it very fast. I have tweaked some myself to set itup the way I like, but straight from the flash it has been great.

just to provide some examples...
i have a streaming app (c-aspiro) that locked up the phone, which required me to soft-reset. after soft-resetting, the phone refused to pick up a signal (any signal). several soft-resets and still no signal (even received a warning sound, but no message). eventually hard-reset
garmin was working, then suddenly stopped and said it needed to be reinstalled (some driver missing). reinstalled and seems to be working, but still slow to launch.
lots of applications are strangely slower than usual (read: slower than last version(s))
innobec's sidewindow won't even run. it installs the driver, tries to launch the process and then fails. if you try to launch it again, the phone may freeze but the application never runs.
the last few soft-resets i've done have netted mixed results. sometimes the touchFLO interface takes 30+ seconds to open, but lately, i get message bubbles about other random stuff that i shouldn't be getting before touchFLO even tries to launch.
today the internet connection tried to connect twice and the bluetooth notification bubble popped up after soft-resets. each time, the touchFLO refused to launch until each of those were "done".
after a separate soft-reset today, i lost ev-do and only 1x would connect.
very strange stuff, very random.

Not sure if these have been reported yet so I will do so just in case.
Sprint 1.10 ROM
1) Txt Messaging-New Message Count: If I get 3 different txt messages from the same person I have to open it 3 separate times to get it to set to "read". So if I have 3 new txts from my girl and open it up the count will go to 2 then I have to close it and open it again and it will go to 1 and so on...
2) Txt Messaging-Input: Using Full QWERTY and T9 sometimes the first word I type is ignored or just vanishes?
3) Missed Call Notification: If I have a missed call and click on the link right below the clock that states the number of missed calls and brings you to call history it does not clear the missed call icon (Phone with Exclamation) at the top of the home screen. Upon clicking that top icon it will recognize that you have already viewed your missed calls and clear itself before you can dismiss it.

If you upgraded to the Verizon WM 6.1 you are going to need to do this in order to get your GPS to work again.

Is there any way to add a calendar tab to Manila 2D? Then be able to link that tab to a today plug-in such as SPB Diary. I can live with only seeing 2 calendar appointments but there is no way to see tasks. You have to use the default task program in WM which really sucks. I know that there is a program floating around that lets you switch back to your default today screen. Is it even possible to add a calendar tab to Manila 2D?

This is on the sprint 1.10 rom - anyone else experiencing this?

No issue here and Im on the latest Sprint ROM as well, I just made a quick 8 second vid of around the room Im in by clicking the camera button, switching over to video, tapping the camera button again and then again to stop the recording, from there I hit the magnifying icon and it began playing in audio manager (like audio files) just fine
and if I browse the device for my documents/my videos and start it from there it plays in the default ROM's player full screen without issue as well

I wonder how many people having stability issues are not flashing in the bootloader mode? I know I just skipped this step and when I first flashed this version I had problems with after turning off the screen, I could not get it to come back on, if I sent a text message, it sent multiples, and just random other things. I then say NFSFAN's post and put it into bootloader and then flashed, ran customization and then put back into bootloader and flashed again. Since I have not had a problem that I have found, knock on wood, but I think this is the most stable and fastest ROM to date.
Thank you NFSFAN for all you hard work.

I know that there is a program floating around that lets you switch back to your default today screen. Is it even possible to add a calendar tab to Manila 2D?
Short answer: NO
Long answer: There may be workarounds
There is an extra tab in M2d called the operator tab. This is for operator's to add custom programs or services to the phone. For example, if Bell sold a phone with M2d such as Iolite, or touch 3G (which they do not), they would use it to add selfserve, music store, GPS Nav etc.
There is a program developed here at XDA that allows you to customize the operator tab. Adding programs, rebuilding the layout (collumns and rows), renaming the tab etc. It is called "M2d operator setting 0.40". This allows it to be used as a second launcher tab, and to customize the layout the same as your launcher tab.
You can also edit the regisrty to allow for a list view (think greatbal's app launcher, or touchLanuch) instead of an icon view. A dev named allevant was using this to make a calendar view to display all of your upcoming appointments.
You can read through the thread on the operator setting here. Allevants efforts are in post 118:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=451623
There was also another effort to make the operator tab into an action tab similiar to the Fuze's action screen. You can read about that here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=472308
I should add that since Bell 1.28 (or 2 ROMs ago for non Bell users) NFSFAN has removed the operator selection from M2DC. After nagging him about it he was kind enough to supply me with the homesettings.xml to add it back in. I personaly use it as a second launcher screen called games.
Hope this was of some help,
Cheers.

I know I flashed in Bootloader mode and then Hard Reset after the flash! I have installed another manilla skin not sure if that is cause any stability issues?
It depends on the skin. There are lots of older skins that do not support the Iolite version of M2D. Even some that do will mess up your home tab calendar view if the .xml settings are not right. The old blue skin updated for Iolite does this.
Before switching themes always use M2D to back up your M2D settings and default theme. I always back up my HTChomesettings.xml as well.
There are lots of newer themes now that work with the Iolite version of M2D. If your ever not sure, just check "do not update slider and xml settings" and go from there.

Somewhere in the history of NFSFAN's ROMs this is discussed. If you use Opera to download AmazeGPS then the phone is interpreted as a VGA device. I believe if you use PIE (and I know if you download the cab on your PC) it will download a QVGA compatible file. I have it on mine and it works great.
Good luck!:D

I use second today (that's the prog you reference, i believe) in conjunction with today agenda, to the same effect.
Basically, I set today agenda to be the only program on the second today screen and okay-out to go back. Slide-to-unlock also has settings that show your tasks + appointments as well.

Yup, but this has been a "problem" in the Sprint 1.09 version as well. It's like the codecs for the files are missing. BUT, this was all only the case for me with MJPEG, not other files. I wouldn't even view MJPEGs in the album.

Not sure if this is related to the new ROM or another problem -- but I was running my own cooked ROM before and didn't have this problem. Activesync keeps running on its own! I have done the "fake exchange" server hack and set it to only manually update, and I have also turned off Time Synchronization... yet the Activesync app continually reruns itself, which is very annoying as I do also use TaskFacade which shows all currently running apps.
Anyone know (yet another) hack besides the fake server & turning off time sync, to prevent Activesync from constantly rerunning itself on the phone? Using Sprint 1.10...
Thanks!

I moved up to the latest (1.29) Bell rom but have been having some stability problems.
After the initial flash I found that it froze up twice on me during the day and after a regular soft-reset found that everything had been wiped like a hard reset.
It froze up me twice wiping out all the data, and it froze up on me once at the boot up screen and I hard to do a manual hard reset to get it back.
I'm going to try flashing it again and see how it fairs.

I installed 1.29 last night and I couldn't run the phone for half an hour without it freezing, and sometimes on reset it would hard-reset. Yes, I did install using bootloader. I then installed the up-coming 1.30 beta and the phone is *more* stable now. You may just have to wait.
Edit: I spoke too soon, was running great last night, and right after I posted this it froze, and when I reset it hard reset :(

you can't tell me nothing is wrong with this build. i tried reloading the ROM again, this time going through the bootloader option. an application (sidewindow) locked up the phone, so i soft-reset it. the phone got stuck on the "booting" process (my splash screen says "checking OS;" before the HTC animation appears), so i removed the battery and waited 10s and turned the phone back on. The phone turned back on as if I did a hard-reset. So all the setup i just went through was lost.

Well I cant tell you nothing is wrong with this build and/or your phone, but for me this ROM is running fine. Slightly high memory usage due to TF2D and Iolite and the screen seems a touch off regardless of how many alignments I do but neither of them are deal breakers, although I do think the feel of Sprint 1.09 was smoother and quicker and more stable.
I flashed via activesynch and and as always hard reset immediately after to reflash the phone as I always do 95% of the time and no issues, but the error you are having Ive only seen when there is a radio issue or an issue with the device being unlocked and something gone squirrely in it and Ive flashed alot of HTC Vogues for Sprint/Bell for people at work and their families phones as well (one guy at work actually has 6 vogues, 1 for each family member LOL and all running custom ROMs) and only his wifes phone of those had any issues like your describing, the fix I found was to flash the stock ROM (may have to do it 2X) and re-unlock it again and then jump over to a custom ROM

I have come to the conclusion I must suck. The ROM is great, no issues with anything. I just can't get the darn GPS to work. I upgraded to the 3.37 ROM, then went to the the custom ROM, did all the ip settings, com4, location on and I can't get any satellites. Followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3318651&postcount=1194
Anyone have any suggestions?

Already tried that. It just throws back an error. "Update Termination".
If I flash the boot loader it will load into the custom rom but just reboots itself anyways.
I even tried a wm6.5 rom with no luck. It reboots itself too!
I could really use some help here people. Right now all I want to do is be able to load the official 6.1 rom back onto my phone.
Oh, the boot loader says 0.41coke no matter which bootloader i put on.

No, my radio was/is the updated one. And I've already tried the 2.31 unlocker and like I've said, it STILL shows 0.41coke. The phone just keep rebooting over and over (unless I have it plugged in with the usb, and no it's not a battery issue).
It also doesn't matter if I try to flash the rom from the SD card (512mb) or if I try and do it through activesync, it just fails.

well if it is showing 0.41 you are not unlocked using 2.31 and need to be
put the unlocking ROM on your SD card and bootload flash from there and make sure its 2.31 then put this ROM on the SD card and bootflash from that as well
your going to have to be quick with the power, camera, reset combo (just think of it like doing a combo in mortal combat LOL) and flash it once 2.31 is actually showing
and you have the latest radio right?

Ok I have been at this for some hours now. Going from the stock mr1 then to the mr2 then back to any custom rom that will catch gps.
right now ther phone is unlocked with radio version 3.42.50.
I cannot get the verizon rom to catch on this phone. Either from the boot loader or operating screen it will give me the message of
"INVALID MODEL ID"
If it means anything "yes" this is a refurb from verizon. I thought it might since that error message comes up not only in this update but from many others..............
I have tried the sprint rom and get the same message.
Any way to get what proper model I might have even though it HASEN'T changed....

Here're a few things I think people have found in the current Sprint ROM:
-The SMS read status only being activated for one SMS at a time. (Very annoying, haha.)
-No more MJPEG codec to play recorded videos with WMP. (Is available in the Stock Sprint ROM. Not a bug, just something that would be cool to have. :P)
-Memory usage starting at 40% and rising up to 60% without any apps running. (Reported by a bunch on people... Manila hogging ram/memory leaks?)
-Boot Animation is laggy. (Don't if it's a Sprint only issue.)
-Randomly Freezes on the boot screen and requires hard-reset. (It happend to me 3 times, lol.)
-... Anything else, haha?

I must be missing something. What exactly must I do to flash from the SD card with 2.31? I have Voguimg.nbh on the SD card, I put it into bootloader mode with holding camera+power button. It then says "Press power button to start update image", so I do, it updates and says "Update Complete UPDATE SUCCESS". So then if I reboot the phone it STILL shows 0.41coke!
What am I doing wrong?

In your ROM what program did you cook into it to get that connection menu "ActiveSync, Disk Drive, Internet Sharing"? I've been looking for something like that FOREVER....I found 2 programs nueMassStorage and WM5torage, but neither of them have that nice menu nor does it allow internet sharing.

Ok, Addition to the bugs/requests for the 1.10 Sprint ROM: (I basically went back in the thread and compiled these.)
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU FLASHED YOUR ROM CORRECTLY BEFORE TRYING TO REPORT AN ISSUE.
1. FLASH FROM BOOTLOADER MODE.

3. LET CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN.
BUGS

-Memory usage starting at 40%(expected) and rising up to 60% without any apps running. (Reported by a bunch on people... cachfilter, eh?)

REQUESTS
-------------
-MJPEG codec to play recorded videos with WMP. (Is available in the Stock Sprint ROM. Not a bug, just something that would be cool to have. :P)
-Facebook App fix? (This happened in the non OEM version too: The app won't work after you exit it with the X button, until you soft-reset.)
-Bring back the call curtain? (I think only one person requested this.)
-Somehow bring back the location identifier for area codes? (two people, including me, i think.)
-Bring back the thin antenna icon from the 1.09 ROM? (The thick one looks really out of place with the thin bars.)
-... Anything else, haha?

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU FLASHED YOUR ROM CORRECTLY BEFORE TRYING TO REPORT AN ISSUE.
1. FLASH FROM BOOTLOADER MODE.
- Ive flashed from Activesync without issue - still not 100% on why this is so mandatory
2. LET CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN.
3. HARD RESET.
4. LET CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN.
(My method on flashing ANY custom ROM - just added it for clarification, not contention LOL )
5. TWEAK IT LIKE YA STOLE IT
BUGS
-------
-The SMS read status only being activated for one SMS at a time. (Very annoying, haha.)
Still not seeing this, I just tested with my wifes phone, the text tab showed the 3 messages I sent myself from her, and when I went into the "text inbox" it showed her message with a (3) behind it, tapping on the message opened all of them up and then opening them each showed as read, no issue it is how it is, right?
-Memory usage starting at 40%(expected) and rising up to 60% without any apps running. (Reported by a bunch on people... cachfilter, eh?)
Ive heard cache-filter as well as the manila bootloader as well causing issues as it is supposedly required for manila/iolite items - although even at 60% its running smooth and fast as opposed to other ROMs hitting 60+% so Im actually thinking this may be a reporting error rather than actual percentage being used
-Boot Animation is laggy. (Don't if it's a Sprint only issue.)
Slow, takes a while longer than most ROM's but havent noticed it being laggy, just slow
-Randomly Freezes on the boot screen and requires hard-reset. (It happend to me 3 times, lol)
Ive not experienced this and I reflashed this ROM 3X last night testing another ROM and going back to this one and havent had the boot screen freeze at all, this may be an issue true, but it may be with the series of model of phone rather than the ROM as a whole
-The first word of an SMS is deleted unless you tap the SMS empty field first. (Reported by a few people.)
I again, havent seen this directly through SMS from my wife and from the people I work with (and they are SMS insane) and never an issue
-Random freezes with Garmin. (only happened twice)
this really should be in the request area - the issue is the ROM functioning with the Garmin (or TomTom or whomever) and not a responsibility of the ROM to be compatible as the Phone has GPS capabilities on its own, utilizing an external device for GPS is more a request for addition/functionality rather than a core device item
-Cannot use Opal Task Manager or Opal Enlarged Start Menu.
Not sure as to why, but to each their own, may again be compatability with a differing ROM TF2D vs TF2D w/Iolite and the files/dlls may have a compatibility issue
As far as Facebook, can you explain more about whats happening, I tried to duplicate it by signing on, checking everything out, hitting X, then the drop down and X again, went back and opened up Facebook again and it auto-signed on and went to the page without issue and I browsed about again noticing updates that occured... so then I tapped and held X to close out the app, checked the drop down and it was gone, fired it up again and same as before, auto signed on and no issues

Haha, I personally had this one. But you know what, let me flash the ROM again and see what's going on. I didn't get a lot of the problems that other people mentioned. I mainly got the SMS unread issue every time I flashed. Let's see what happens. Going to post back with my results.
EDIT: Ok, tried it once more. And I hard-reseted twice to make sure. I still get the SMS issue, in which only one SMS is read at a time. What operating system are you flashing from, I wonder if that has something to do with it. I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

I've tried following all the instructions I've found (including ones in this thread).. including the valhalla gpsserver, editing qpst, and what not. I have radio 3.37.77 from the leaked vzw rom, from before I flashed nfsfan's 1.12 and following roms. When I use the built-in gps viewer (com 4, 4800 baudrate) it scans seemingly until I give up and turn it off. Any suggestions? Also, I have location set to on in the phone settings and everything..

Man, when I "bricked" (as in could not do anything beyond the tri colour screen) my phone I didn't know what to do and tried flashing everything onto there.
The first thing I had ever done was flash the official 6.1 rom a few months back.
When I found this thread I decided to flash this rom but naturally couldn't since I hadn't unlocked it. I flashed the 0.41coke bootloader and then the NFSFAN's rom but that kept rebooting on it's own constantly (I'm thinking now that it actually was a battery issue). So I tried putting the official 6.1 rom back on and that's when things hit the fan.
I can get the dumped original rom onto the phone, but the official 6.1 rom crashes with a Error 262 at exactly 44% each and every time and NFSFAN's rom now gives me a "No Radio" error when booting (after successfully flashing).
So I'm worried at this point that I may be stuck with a crappy 6.0 rom.

To those that are having trouble getting your GPS to work. Are you on the Verizon network? Something is messed up with the aGPS on Verizon. Check the General Vogue thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=494551 I installed NFSFAN rom a couple weeks ago and worked pretty hard to get the GPS to work. When it did, it would lock almost instantly, indoors and outdoors. However starting the beginning of last week it takes me forever meaning 15 min -1 hour and I have to be out side before I can get a lock. It doesn't look like anyone has an idea whats going on but many Verizon Vogue owners have reported the same thing. It has also been reported on other forums outside the XDA consortium.

Posted a theme for this awesome ROM.
Well, the name sorta gives it away. It's a hybrid theme with part Diamond stuff, and part original Manila. I hadn't found a single good theme that had the Diamond colors, so I made my own. I made the colors for the message count and stuff actually match the Diamond.
-The colors match the System theme of NFSFANS WM6.1 Manila ROM.
-The home tab is made to accommodate the overlapping of appointments. (TouchFLO version 1)
-Background is blue(Original Manila), not black like all those Diamond themes, because I think it was getting boring.
-Yes, I didn't make a stupid Diamond clock, because it was getting over-rated. I might make it later on, but for now, i like this.
-The background in the Home tab is one of the official wallpapers that come with the GSM Diamond. I'm adding a separate zip of QVGA versions for those.

My phone: HTC Touch (Sprint)
-Is this necessary?
-How exactly is this done?
I've tried using Google but every page i look at assumes the reader has a wealth of knowledge on the subject . Is there a page that shows links to all the necessary programs? Is there a page that shows a how-to on all these procedures?
Thanks in advance and THANK YOU to everyone how comes up with all these FANTASTIC customizations!

I'm sorry, another noob question, i was reading about "unlocking" the phone in order to put a cooked rom on the phone.
-Yup, it's necessary.

Ok, cool. Just so people know. Those aren't all the bugs I pointed out, haha. I merely care about the SMS issue. So, please don't flame me, lol.
No, no, I'm not flaming you :) Don't worry about the SMS issue. I fixed that for the next release. The inquiry about multi-select, well MS removed that in the new builds. However they added the option where you can tap menu and press select several messages. Also the 1.30 build will bring some new goodies, along with the Menu Enhancement.
EDIT: If anyone wants to test out an Alltel ROM to see if MMS is working please PM me. I've updated the MMS to the new Arcsoft MMS 5.0.71.33 R3.
EDIT 2: Also I do have a 6.5 build done. It uses the older 21176 sys. I haven't had much time to mess with the new builds, nor was I interested too much. If you guys want to test it just drop a message by here, and I'll post it up for public consumption.

I have another issue.
When I put on the old telus rom on my phone (the only one I get successfully put on as of now) in device information it shows the rom version as 1.11.661.1 and radio version is blank! I don't know how to fix this. If I load NFSFAN's rom it'll show "No Radio" while loading and just stays there and the official 6.1 telus rom gives a 262 error at 44% each time.
I have also tried to flash the official bell rom, which also threw back an error but this time it was about 30-some percent. (So right now I have a Bell splash screen, lol).
So, ultimately I can't get any other bootloader other than the 0.41.coke on to here, absolutely NO idea why.
So my question to anyone that may know is: why am I having these issues with the radio version?
EDIT: I also tried the WM6.5 rom and that also gives me the "No Radio" error. So any rom other than the old 6.0 telus rom give me an error while flashing or gives me a "No Radio" error.

It has happened twice now, my iGO8 folder and some other folders disappeared and I couldn't access them, but the memory monitor said all of the memory was still used; then they reappeared. Wondering if my storage card is becoming corrupt . . . This has never ever happened to me before. Could this have something to do with the cache filter?

I'm going to switch back to 1.28 to since that seemed to work ok for me.

I was having the same issue. I just added an unlimited data plan, worked for an hour or so then got the same problems. I researched for a couple hours, reprogrammed, even did a hard reset, eventually I called vzw and they said they have a network outage right now, and we have to wait. :(

Here is the 6.5 Build. It is based on 21176 sys + xip. I know its old, but I haven't played with 6.5 much. Mainly because it isn't of much interest to me yet. Even though the ROM is for Bell, other carriers can flash it, it won't damage your phone, or ruin anything. This is solely for testing purposes only, not for 24/7 usage. SMS doesn't work, and neither does the MyPhone application.

Thx for the reply NFSFAN. I did not flash with the bootloader this flash, will re-flash from bootloader and then reformat my storage card. I am hoping that the issues I am having (storage card, TF2D spontaneously shutting down and reloading occasionally) stem from flashing through activesync.
I know you've mentioned updated ROMs coming out that fix the SMS first word bug. Do you have an ETA on those? Trying to decide if I should reflash now, or wait for the updates. TIA, appreciate your work.

It appears that NFSFAN's Alltel 1.04 ROM is a bust on solving the strange MMS issue from his current 1.03 version. MMS will send but the device doesn't receive. The last "best" known Alltel ROM that MMS had full functionality is Conflipper's extremely dated one running the latest build from the PPC Kitchen (older than NFSFAN's) which hasn't been u pdated in approx. 4-5 months.
I had originally thought upgrading Arcsoft would fix the issue, but 1.04 proves that there may be something else working against us. I'm not sure Verizon-branded phones are having issues, but those of us who are still under contract with an Alltel phone are suffering from this half-MMS.
I've compared Conflipper's working MMS ROM with NFSFAN's 1.03 and can't figure out what's amiss aside from NFSFAN's newer build/sys which I doubt is the problem since Alltel has the Diamond.

To be honest I've tried my best with the Alltel MMS. I've extracted the latest alltel vogue rom, took the exact values from all the fields in the provisioning files, and I've converted them into the registry. I've done the same thing when getting MMS for Verizon to work. If MMS sends, then I doubt it is something wrong with my configuration, but it may be. Honestly I have no clue anymore.
It would be helpful if you could do a reg dump of Conflipper's Alltel ROM, and post it, so I can look at it. Thanks.

I lost the contents of my storage card yesterday for the first time when I connected as a storage drive. I'm wondering if it's because I unplugged it without using the safe removal process in Windows. I did that a couple of more times after setting up the card again, and it's been ok so far.

What's weird is I only lost the My Documets folder content, everything is on the card is fine. Just to be clear the folder is still there, it is just empty. I just loaded 1.13 and am going to see if it happens again. I also had someone with a different phone running the same ROM (1.12) and it happened to him as well. He lost his storage card my docs folder content.
Maybe I just need to delete the folder and recreate it after whatever happened previously.

Im looking forward to seeing a fully working version of 6.5. At this point in the game I would much rather not spend the time upgrading my 6.1 rom and going through the hassle of backing everything up etc. Just to see a new 6.5 ROM come out within the next month or so.
I look forward to the new 6.5 Rom as I am not at all a fan of the TF3D interface. I do like the simplicity of the HTC Home interface. I think that 6.5 will bring us sufficient advances to allow us to really make Windows mobile shine..

It would be helpful if you could do a reg dump of Conflipper's Alltel ROM, and post it, so I can look at it. Thanks.
EDIT: Have you tried the stock Alltel ROM? If MMS doesn't work on mine properly, I doubt it does on that.
A reg dump? Pleaase elaborate on how to do that and consider it done.
Alltel's stock WM 6.1 ROM has fully functional MMS, as does Conflipper's which is based on a slightly newer build of 6.1 but not by a lot. The phone itself is advertised and sold by Alltel as being MMS capable, so it's no surprise that Alltel's official releases support it.
Unfortunately Alltel's build is 19xxx and Conflipper's is 20xxx -- not exactly the latest and greatest. One of my biggest gripes about them is I can't install the finger menu replacements due to no 21xxx build and the only beta kitchens I can find in the 21xxx range still have a lot of problems and isn't worth me cooking with.
Drop me a PM (It sends e-mail notification) and let me know how to perform these dumps. I'm on Alltel's stock 6.1 right now and everything works, though it's an old build.

Did you happen to let customizations run when you upgraded your radio? I didn't think that I had but after a ton of reflashing and making sure specifically that I reset before customizations run (With the exception of nfsfan's rom of course, those customizations are fine.) I eventually got it to work...

Install a registry editor, and export the registry to your storage card. Then post that file here.

I have tethered too, and I didnt get charged, however I was talking with bell employee acquaintance claiming that they are gonna crack down on it and that they can detect it now. However that guy could just be bs'ing or reading from predefined script that a lot of customer reps have to memorize.

I know there are multiple threads on xda and ppcgeeks about how Verizon aGPS isn't working for a lot people so I just turned that mess off hoping to at least get the external GPS to go at it, but no dice.

Fight it, I had a tethering charge of $500 from them a few months ago when I wasn't on NSF's ROM. I told them the salesman at bell told me I could do it as part of my unlimited data. took about 5 phone calls, but eventually they waived it 100%
and yes, I received that exact same text from them. and it was still about $500 in tethering charges tho they said they would stop at $250. First call got them to lower to $100 mandatory fee they claimed they had to charge. but they can waive it if you get angry enough.

I have downloaded your ROM for Verizon, "Verizon ROM 1.13 Released" but I have been unable to find any instructions even after un-raring the files. I have tried running the ROMupdateutility but get an error message at the beginning. I have tried runing GetDeviceInfo but get the following message "not a valid Win32 application". The device is connected and synced prior to trying this. I'm assuming I have the most up to date Radio, since I upgraded recently to the HTC released 6.1 update. The name of that file for the radio was "RUU_Vogue_VZW_WWE_3.14.605.1_Radio_3.37.77_Ship". But since I can't run GetDeviceInfo, I can't say exactly what I have.

Did you take a look at the OEM i posted awhile ago when you first made an Alltel ROM? That OEM i used successfully with several vet's kitchen without issues. It should have everything you need as far as registry settings and such. I wonder of coinflippers rom is using the new arcsoft and it would be interesting to see what build it is.
I am really starting to wonder if its a build issue? All of vets kitchens were 20xxx builds and below.

This has been answered FAR too many times recently
1) have you unlocked your phone?
2) is your phone a HTC Vouge (aka touch)
3) is your phone CDMA (US) or GSM (Europe and elsewhere)
if your answer to #1 is no, then go here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370 read, learn, read, memorize and then read again you can mess up your phone if you not careful
if your answer to #2 is no - then your in the wrong area to begin with and need to find your proper model phone
if your answer to #3 is GSM, see above statement
If you answered yes to #1 and #2 and CDMA to #3 then scroll back a few pages and read the posts as well as search about loading from bootloader mode and read those directions as well

On vzw phones, there are two NAI identities (and there is stuff regarding this in the registry and also in the radio itself).
One is <yournumber>@vzw3g.com
The other is <yournumber>@dun.vzw3g.com
I don't know if this is the case with Adrian's roms, but on real VZ roms, when you connect with internet explorer, it uses the first NAI, if you connect with internet sharing, it uses the second one. If you use internet sharing when you are already connected, it just keeps on going with NAI 1.
They can track your data usage by the logon id, and also by the ESN of your phone.
I noticed that even though I changed both NAI's to use the @vzw3g address, after provisioning with *228, it reset the second NAI to @dun.
So I am careful to only tether from an active ie/opera session, and I check the NAIs every month or so from start->programs->system tools->phone codes->EPST->edit info->M.IP Default Profile->NAI and DUN NAI
EDIT: corrected where I looked... it is all in M.IP Default Profile, and you can't see the DUN NAI from view only mode, it is hidden from you until you are in EDIT mode.

Since is the $45 voice/data plan and I still have the vougue/Touch... I thought maybe I should switch the "Data Connection off", thinking this way I won't have data for a couple of days, but at least they won't charge me mobile browser ussage, since I don't have it anymore...
Ok so now when I try to turn on the Data Connection, it won't turn on... Is this a problem with the Phone/Rom or simply it won't dial *777 because is not compatible with Data as opposed to Mobile Browser...
I even went as far as hard-reseting the phone and upgrading to Rom 1.29 with no avail...
Help please and thank you....

Messages disappearing problem partially solved:
I think I have figured out and reproduced how to fix the problem where your text and email account disappears. There may be other causes to this problem, but here is what I found.
If you meet all of the following conditions you may have the problem:
1. you set your email to store attachments on the storage card (under email, go to Tools > Options > "Storage" tab and see if box "when available, use this storage card to store attachments)
2. You connect using USB to PC "Disk Drive" to your computer (not activesync)
3. During a USB to PC connection, you or your phone happened to access the messaging database; this can be receiving a text, opening the messaging program, or using PIM backup, for example.
The result: you cannot open messaging at all - no messages show up in TF2D, and if you go to programs and click on messaging, nothing happens
Why this causes a problem:
When number 1 is activated, part of the messaging database begins accessing the storage card (you will see folders "Inbox 12213241xx"). If it tries accessing the storage card and does not find it (storage card unavailable due to being connected as a flash drive to your PC), it creates a new storage card folder to access - you can use total commander to see this happen. Then, when the actual storage card comes back online (this is the part that I am not sure about) something fails to sync appropriately when accessing that folder again.
I could not access my messaging for a few hours it was not available. I then reconnected using USB to PC, and suddenly had access again. I noted the above happening using total commander. I disconnected from my computer, and then could not access messaging period. I deleted the new storage card folder, restarted, and still could not access messaging. However, connecting again to USB to PC, I could then access messaging again. Strange. So I took the new "Inbox folder" from the new storage card folder, copied it to the real storage card labeled Storage Card 2, and then soft reset. Still no access to messaging. After reconnecting to USB to PC, recopying the folder as above, and then unchecking the "save attachements to storage card" box and two soft resets, everything was back to normal, and I could see my messages while not connected to my PC.
For full confirmation that this is the problem, I need to test now if I can access messaging while connected to USB to PC and then disconnect and reaccess since turning of storing attachments to the storage card. Just happy that I got messaging back, and don't want to mess things up again. If someone that has never had the messaging problem wants to try to reproduce this, we can add this to the FAQs on how to connect using USB to PC "Disk Drive" safely.
The reason I say "partially solved", is that I had the messaging problem occur and then fix itself 15 minutes later about a week ago, so there either is another mechanism, or a way that things fix themselves, which also would be helpful to know.

you can turn on the auto-lock. you just have to set a 4 digit password and set the time to auto lock when inactive for 0 minutes. then as soon as the screen goes black it'll lock. works well and you don't have to install any programs. locks all the keys including the power button.

Something is fishy, I do not do tethering much, I do occassionally and can tell you the exact date and time I did, and I usually check after a couple of days to make sure all is Ok, however in checking my unbilled usage details through BM today and looking back to last thursday, when I know I tethered, my usage was not even recorded as anything, not there, no charges, no record, no nothing.
This is different than normal now, gotta go get my tin foil hat from the closet, but something tells me something is up.

I'm not sure if this was metioned before but I seem to be having this problem with my phone (Sprint touch 1.10) My father-in-law is also having this problem (Verizon touch 1.12) After we have made a call or recieved a call, while on the call the volume is loud which is nice but sometimes it needs to be lowered but the moment we do we can't ever get the loud volume back even if we hang up and call again. It only seems to fix itself when we do a soft-reset. Anybody else have this problem and maybe know how to fix it? Its quite annoying when I'm in my service vehicle at a stop light and I get a call its a little too loud but when I start driving then I can't hear because I turned the volume down but it wont go back up.

CDMA Providers monitor tethering through a dynamic link library called isext.dll. This library monitors when ICS application is turned on, and switches a value in registry (TETHER_NAI) from 0 to 1. Removing the library and removing that value, will harm tethering, and you will be detected. The isext.dll is removed from the ICS extension mechanism, and is not being called by that program. You can test that TETHER_NAI value always stays on 0 even with ICS connected. Unless Bell implemented a separate M.IP through which the phone is forced to reconnect upon using ICS, you can't be detected, and it won't show any activity on your bell.ca profile. We can see that we aren't forced onto a separate connection, because the current connection remains active, if already alive.
EDIT: For bell we have 2 M.IPs
1. xxxxxxxxxx@1x.bell.ca -->Main EVDO connection
2. xxxxxxxxxx@services.1x.bell.ca --> Secondary EVDO connection (WAP Server) for DUN.
If the NAI is switched, then we would see the connection bubble reconnecting even if there is a connection already alive.

When I visited Chicago last weekend (I live in Boulder, CO), the time was not updated automatically, like before when I turned on my cellphone after the plane landed in Chicago. Sure I can put in the "Home" & "Visiting" Timezones on my phone but this used to happen automatically before & is a bit irksome. Anyone got any ideas...?
Thanks.

Thought I'd post a few thoughts about 6.5 after playing with it for a day. Overall, I find NFSFAN's M2D ROM much easier to use at this point. Maybe 6.5 will get better when Microsoft moves it out of beta.
The new Today screen is interesting, but at this point you can't add/delete the menu items on it as far as I can tell. Also, if you'd like a menu item to execute a different program (say a differnt picture viewer), you're out of luck. After closing programs and falling back to the Today screen, you are defaulted to the first menu item, which is the IE favorites. I think it should go to the clock item where you have menu selections above and below it.
Speaking of IE, its much improved. I'm using NetFront now, and the speed was similar. Only thing better in NF is it allows for more viewing options. However, I could see using IE as my main browser.
There's lots of complaints about the honeycomb Start menu. Personally I didn't mind it. One big problem is changing the icon order. You are allowed only to move an icon to the top of the menu. You really need to be able to drag them to where you want. I'd bet this will be changed before 6.5 goes GA. One other huge problem is when you invoke a program, say Settings, then finish what you're doing, you are thrown back to the Today screen. If you need to do something else, you have to go to Start again and navigate back to where you were. Real tedious when you're setting up your device.
I use the favorite contacts in M2D (where you have big icons and pictures to add 12 contacts) very useful. 6.5 has nothing like it, and I missed it. Going into the main Contacts list and scrolling or searching was a pain for people I contact regularly.
I setup an IMAP email acct for my Gmail access. It connected fine and synced my msgs, but I couldn't open an msg thru Outlook no matter what I did. Weird.
NFSFAN's build includes the usual stuff, and the extra programs in 1.29 (eg. Facebook). I was able to make calls, surf the net, use RSSHub, etc. with no problems thru the day. Everything seemed pretty stable. But as I said, usability is not nearly as good as M2D yet.
Hope this helps anyone thinking about loading 6.5.

Sooo... Are you saying you still prefer NFSFAN's ROMs to the new 6.5 ROM?

Hey guys,
Dunno if anyone ran into this problem, but after flashing 1.29 (without making any additional edits), I ran some test text messages. They worked fine, but then I completed a soft-reset, and then the test texts were deleted.
Anyone run into this? Any solutions NFSFAN?
Thanks.
Do you have Sprint? I have experienced that issue with every ROM I have ever run on my Touch. I had it happen even with the original ROM, way before I ever flashed it. I think it has to do something with timing. I say this because I have noticed that if I send a text, then shut off the phone within mins after sending it, they are gone when I reboot. Same goes for messages I received. But, if I waited a little while before shutting down, say like 30mins, they would all be there when I rebooted. Weird. But I dont think its a NFSFAN ROM issue.

i installed a 6.5 ROM (OS 5.2.21189 Build 21189.5.0.0) and installed the new arcsoft cab i have. It installed fine but still has the same issues. I can send fine but cannot recieve. The phone's backlight will come on as if it recieves notification but never recieves the message.

So for verizon users we should be able to just open up ICS and we'll be safe?

Here's anothing little bit of information on my tethering saga. Something screwed up on my phone because yesterday I did a bit of a test, I didn't connect my phone to my computer at all, but I used data on my phone (Google maps, Opera) and it showed up as tethered data under my usage. Needless to say, I had Bell wipe the $1200 worth of data off my bill, but I'm going to be flashing my ROM when I get home, I'm not sure yet to what tho.

I have a sprint vogue and just upgraded from the official sprint 6.1 ROM. Most things work good, except one problem. All of my contact's phone numbers are stored in MS Outlook in the format of +1 (800) 1234567. Now the phone try to dial exactly as +18001234567 and it never succeeded. Is there any way to omit the "+" when dialing? I didn't have the same problem with official sprint rom.
Thanks.
