REQUIREMENTS: Must have general knowledge of PPCs and how to use one. GPS Radio.
RECOMMENDED: GPS Radio (3.42.50) for Bell users
************************************************** ****

Only backup contacts, appointments, emails and text messages.
************************************************** ****
IMPORTANT: Always flash from bootloader mode!!!
Always Hard-Reset after ROM flash!!!
Always let customizations run on my ROMs!!!
************************************************** ****
CRITICAL:
1. You have the choice of which dialer to install.
This is very important!! You must install a dialer from one of the
supplied cabs!! You have 2 choices CDMA or GSM.
Click Here to visit the dialer post I made :) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4198615&postcount=8543)
2. For GPS to work with different carriers than Bell install
one of the cabs in the attachment below, that matches your carrier.
3. For the weather to show up on the Manila2D homescreen
you have to install the CDMA Home Weather Fix.cab
found in the attachments at the end of this post. However, make
sure that you ONLY install the cab after you setup the city in the
weather tab of M2D, or else M2D will not launch.
4. To add custom cities for the weather tab on M2D, go to Start,
Settings, System, and tap on Manila2D Weather Cities Editor.

I seem to be having trouble with this ROM. I'm an aspiring young chef trying to take after the masters. I'm trying to using my hex editor so I can add my name to programs such as that ingenious USB2PC program you put so much effort into..I just want to add my name to it so I can include it in my own ROM. I also need advice on how I can go about removing any references to authors for the programs included in the ROM, such as HTC or Microsoft/Windows. Instead of Microsoft Windows Mobile, it will just be called "AceszMobile. After I finish the work intensive project, I will call the newly revamped device the...ACETouch! So all programs with HTC references will need to be renamed accordingly.
Also how do I coin my own personal ROM protection like your NSFFan rom protection, so that I can insure that no thieves will steal my stolen code? Lastly, how do I go about putting on a donate button so I can get paid for my hard work? Your superior advice would be much appreciated.

Ok, I am around longer than most of you. So using my seniority, I am asking you all to calm down. Lets give NSFAN a new start and see where it goes. I am sure he will learn and give credit where it is due.
Now lets move on.

Dude, where did you go? I've been searching on your posts on PPCGeeks and found out about your issue. I then googled for like an whole hour and finally got to this. I installed your roms (well, most of your roms in the past too) and totally loved them all. You're the reason why I am with Bell and the HTC Touch, without you man I'll be happily paying my ECF /w no questions asked

You guys seriously are a bunch of tools, who have no life...
I couln't agree more. Like it was mentioned earlier in this thread, as well as many others. The whole concept of customs ROMS involves stealing someone's ideas, so why hate on someone who took the same concept of the community, and added his name to it. As far as I'm concerned this is the same as taking ANY rom apart adding a few things and calling it SKYSROM. Unless you have personally made a ROM from scratch and have your own OS running on it just leave NFSFan alone as he is only doing what is promoted by the comunity in general.
1970mueller
7th October 2008, 01:40 AM
This ROM is the first I've used where the tf2 does not EVER crash out like most of the other Roms I've tried.
Hope you can add the in call volume fix that I hear VetVito figured out. Be sure to give him creds though :)

Where is the Alltel love? Can I just use the Sprint rom for now?
NFSFAN
7th October 2008, 03:36 PM
The incall volume is tied to the dialer. The opal has the dialer, but its GSM. However I will be porting the Diamond dialer, which is very similar to the opal one.

It's true like I said, Vet has fixed this apparently- but look at his current offering. No camera, and full of bugs while he cleans it up. I am still on this ROM, seems to be great on stability and battery power is really sort of unreal. The only Rom that I remember having such low usage was DH's.
What I like about this ROM:
no cube- why do people still include it (with the Sprint stuff burned in!)
stable-no hang ups or crashes that i've experienced.
tf2-works well, no crashing and the newer customizer on xda works great
gps-working as good as all the others out there, great.
software-he's got the basics in there, but not so much to kill the thing.
thanks for the ROM, look forward to updates.
NFSFAN
8th October 2008, 03:39 PM
umm, vet already has all that and more...
Like me he got it all from the stock opal preshipped rom... InCall works because he included the GSM dialer from the opal in his kitchen. However, this dialer, like most GSM dialers breaks data arrows for CDMA phones, and also kills the phone codes like ##778#...I'd be more than happy to work with vetvito and possibly help him port the GSM dialer to work properly on CDMA. This is hard work, and it will take time.

Why would that be hard work? There's nothing to do.

... battery power is really sort of unreal. The only Rom that I remember having such low usage was DH's.
What kind of power draw do you see in acbpowermeter?
also, how much battery life do you get? what kind of usage leads to that life?
1970mueller
8th October 2008, 05:57 PM
I like the Dialer just fine, it's nice to have the data arrows lit or unlit. I think he meant he could help port the Opal dialer to CDMA, since it's already set for GSM.
Sprint TV doesn't seem to work though after I install it, is this a known limitation or something that can be added? I figure there may be a problem since it's not in the basic Sprint version, but Sprint Mail and software is in there....? Thanks for the answer!
Other than sprint TV and the in call volume, this rom is really really good, no matter how it came to life.
My battery lasted from Friday afternoon till Monday morning, and it wasn't below 30%. Other Roms, I'd get a day perhaps. I use Windows Live email and have it set to sync as items arrive at hotmail.
** Perhaps NFSFAN will let y'all steal his settings, he definitely did something most others are not incorporating to their kitchens.

Can't believe this is going on again...What a waste of bandwidth!
Love your ROM's NFSAN, they are simply the best for Bell Mobility. I've been using your work since v1.10
Yours was the first stable M2D ROM, and faster than the others.
Can't wait for you to post a non-M2D version so I can get my plugins and landscape mode back!
If this forum gets too crazy (and it probably will), just go back to your haven, we'll know where to get our fixes. No sense into taking this kind of abuse for nothing.

Please - the only person stating opinions here is you. I asked you for some concrete numbers and you continue to offer opinion. We have no control over how much power TALKING on the phone consumes; we also have no control over how much power DATA consumes, except turning it off. Either you are taking huge liberty with the word "constant" or you're spouting bullshit. Talking on your phone consumes so much more power than anything else (except WiFi), the best we can do is have a marginal effect upon it - nevermind the standard battery isn't rated for 1 day of "constant" talking, let alone 3.
That aside, I routinely get 3 days out of my phone. I wouldn't say it is constant usage by any stretch, but I certainly don't leave it in a drawer either. Considering I went to no trouble when building my ROM to achieve my 3 day battery life, it certainly ought to be typical. As it matches the battery and phone ratings, I'm willing to generalize and say it is expected.
off topic but since you are posting here alot how about adding the opal oem packages to the ppc kitchen you know mainly more updated appls in general thanks in advance?

How about this?
Not good enough? How about this one?
Considering those were from yesterday and are from 2 of the last 3 posts between us, you might consider looking into memory aids.
AcbPowerMeter will spit out facts about actual battery consumption rate...not "this ROM has great battery" (in case you missed it, thats your opinion, not a fact).
Try posting facts, instead of your OPINIONS.
leoiden - it's updated with current revisions each cycle. I don't know what opal stuff specifically has been added, but some has.

1.From what i know nueMassStorage the version in the past nfs edited it had no license file on the site or in the zip. That's what i saw myself. not saying this makes anything okay but there is a FLIP side to this past issue. ITs not used anymore so why are we discussing it anymore.. it was delt with....
2.No, you idiots came back out of your holes to troll. This is lame your attempts to show how huge your e-penis I am envious okay? So how about you simmer down and stop posting useless stuff on this thread.
3.Are you 12 hun? Come on bud, grow up. Ur virtual e-penis's balls have dropped. I suppose your real ones wont ever? Anyhow......I am done it's like talking to a retard here you keep saying same things.

HE STEALS
I HATE THAT SEXY DEVIL
LETS BURN HIM AT THE CROSS RIGHT NOW...
Honestly. NO ON CARES for your guys's silly antics.
This is in reference to the SHIt before I even posted a single word on this thread in other pages. I bit my toung and figured let them get out there hate for nfs. I suppose you guys wont let up so time to actually debate this and get it over with so we can all move on hopefully.
This is to everyone here flameing this rom release over same one issue of "illegal" copying" OKAY, it is resolved now? Why not go back to the hole? Its warm down there..... try going home to your holes please.

I personally don't want to jump in the middle of this great debate, but it seems it has gone on here the moment this thread was opened. I have yet to read all the posts in full, but from the few I have read, it seems to be getting out of hand. I've seen some big names in here, mainly those most active in other forums. I understand from what I have seen that there is work posted with this ROM that either shouldn't be, or no credit was given. In all honesty though, I'm not sure how much longer I feel like watching this thread go back and forth with who is right and wrong.
Perhaps this thread needs to be closed, or resolved ASAP.

The thread has been cleaned out a bit.
And will be cleaned out some more, Not out of censorship, but out of the clear nonsense and shame some posters are putting on themselves and XDA.
And a few more cooling of periods have been dished out.
1. Locking Roms from being extracted is something the kitchen tool builders like Bepe have put in there for many reasons. The tool and option exist to be used.
2. The way most do it when they want some information about a package or specific setting in a ROM, is ask the cook.
3. Protecting a ROM from being extracted does not say anything, content can still be taken out and cooks that use the tools that "lock" the ROM know this to. While everyone is so focused on the Rom protection method, i have not seen mention of the other reason why removing and merging all .DSM files and RGU's into just a few (ROM protection) is being used. PERFORMANCE.
4. Everyone has the right to cook a ROM, anyway he or she likes it.
5. Not only where the claims of "stealing" unjust to NFSFAN, they where also disrespectful to many of the people and users that have contributed information about the needed values for USB Pop Up.
My job is to make sure, that people, that are willing to spend time and effort to do something for the comunity, can do just that, do something.
And sometimes that means we have to play police(y) officer.
JimmyMcGee Gave a warning, and a good one at that. And i will back that up for any Upcoming new thread concerning this rom.
I hope to see NFSFAN back in a few days, and i hope that the new thread will be clean of trolling and flaming, because it will certainly get a no remorse policy when it comes to the same bullshit that happened here.
I hope all other 3day Banned users, get their witts together and realize that this does not serve XDA nor ppcgeeks any good.
Claims about "Stolen Software" are not fought about in the Forum.
This could have been asked any mod, that could then talk about it with other mods, that would eventually lead to someone getting the facts out.
USB2PCPOPUP from Opal does not work as a cure all cab or OEM for all devices. Different Resource files have been checked and modified from different builds and devices, different USB driver Registry settings from diferrent devices have been compared. Now most OEM packs need little or no adjustments to make them work on some other devices. This was not true for the Opal Extracted USB pop up. The person that put the most time into finding all this out and getting it to work was NFSFAN. He did it by communicating with some other users and cooks and by sharing information. I think everyone that has shared information and talked about this, would be outraged at what happened and has been claimed here.
ANY post related to something that has not happened in that particular thread where it is being posted to, or posted just to attack someone for "crimes/misunderstandings" of the past or other forums all together, do not belong here.
We break shit, we look at all the tiny pieces, then put it back together, take out a piece, put it back, replace it on and on and on.
We don't Claim stuff, We Theorize, We Research it and then we try to Claim it as acurate as possible and people HELP making sure that the final claim is correct, by testing and adding to the information. It's what XDA was about when it got started, and it's what it stil is about.
There are enough other sites to fight over issues and XDA is not one of those.
Thanks for your time.
The Thread is Re Opened.
This Rom does not Contain NeuUSB from No2Chem.
It's sad that all of this had to happen because of mistakes and missunderstandings.
Any Discussion aimed at theses previous mistakes or accusations will result in a longer ban fitting the way the post is written.

Let me be more specific
I can record video on storage card after every soft reset
then I close the camera program, go to the video tab in M2D to watch the video I just record.
I launch the camera again, then it won't let me to use storage card to record video

LOL!
I doubt this! When ROMs are built, OEM packages are used, and the dialer uses a set of system files. Your best bet is to search for it, I'm not sure cookers want to distribute seperate parts of their ROM, but I could be wrong.

I chose a custom theme from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425974
I then disabled TouchFlo from the Today screen, took a .png, renamed it hh_fw_background.png, and replaced the hh_fw_background.png in the /Windows folder with the new hh_fw_background.png file. I then re-enabled TouchFlo and the background had been changed.

Breath... then download different compression software. For example, try 7zip, WinRAR, or PKZip depending on what it is. Personally I use 7zip for everything except pesky rar files which it sometimes has a hard time with, in that case go to the horses mouth and get winRAR.

I would like to have a way to change this too. I'm not a big fan of sliding to answer a call, seems like an extra needless step.
Also, and I haven't actually checked for myself yet, but can you adjust the call volume while in a call now? Oh, and can you adjust the screen brightness now?

Dude,
I would just like to say that this is the best rom I have come across yet. And, I have looked at every site for our devices. It is clean, it is the way it's supposed to be. The boot up screen is flawless(that picture should be on there from oem). It is fast, and I get better reception. I never really liked that "black image with the tiles" that shows before Manila loads, but that is just me. Thank you for your effort and dedication to your work, it is very much appreciated and if I had a Visa I would totally throw you a ten spot for making my phone what it should have been when I bought it from Sprint. Thanks dude!! Kudos on a FLAWLESS rom.

I hope this is not too dumb of a question. But how can I add my city to the weather DB with your ROM image? I had a custom weather DB with another ROm I was using and now I switched to this one because I have heard so many good things about it. But now my city is not in the DB and I cannot find info on how to add it.
Please help. Thanks!
ROM looks fantastic so far!

I have installed the sprint public beta 1.02 rom and so far so good. This is by far the best custom rom with the M2D interface that I have used. So Mad Props to NFSFAN for all the hard work!!! The only issue I am having is after activating the web tab in M2D customizer, the youtube app opens up some type of widget screen. I have used the youtube app in the past so I was just wondering if there is a way i can fix that. Can someone point me to the latest youtube cab file? Oh, and my carrier is Sprint and my device is the HTC Touch original.

HELP! Its a great ROM but to no fault of NFSFAN I have to switch back to one of the old style non-manilla ROMS. I think the one I had was V1.18. Does anyone have this or can you point me in the direction of where to find it. I have several programs that I have to have running, that will not work with this style setup.

Unfortunately I have already loaded the Sprint 1.03 rom and got everything set back up before I realized this issue existed. :( Is there a registry hack or something I can do to fix it without reloading the rom? Just thought I would check... everything else is working perfect though. Great Job yet again NFSFAN!!

Found the 1.18, but before I revert back I should ask this. I have been using hudson dashboard on my phone to track its usage. I have found it invaluable and really want to keep it. Unfortunately however it does not seem to want to install properly or if it is, it is not showing up on the front page. I understand why, as this version incorporates a touchflo app, but since its not listed in the programs or any of the apps is there a work around so that I can still use it?

just want to change background to default tiles
Simple easy steps:
Steps on your PC
1) Just find the background graphic you want to use
2) rename it to HH_BW_Background.png utilizing a imaging software that supports the PNG file extension (Paint, Microsoft Imaging, Photoshop, Fireworks for example) and copy over to your phone to some location (My Documents, Storage Card, wherever)
Steps on your phone
3) Turn off touchflo in your todays settings
4) then copy to the file to your \Windows folder - this step you will need something other than the default explorer app that is on the phone (Total Commander for instance)
5) turn on touchflo again from today settings
enjoy all the backgrounds you want

Anyone have a work around to getting the Camera working with this ROM? I really love this ROM but I use my camera a lot and need it almost daily. Any help would be awesome? I have tried installing coolCamera and even using the updated version of HTC camera, but it still doesnt work. I can bring the HTC camera up, and take a picture but once i do it freezes and the live feed on the screen goes black. I then have to subsequently "cancel" out with the HTC red button and close the camera app with the task manager.

Graet ROM - sticking with it. But have some feedback :
1. I can still not do multi-select on lists - Emails in Inbox etc.
2. I am not linking the IE 6 at all... it is certainly slower than the previous version and it does not really move through all the links (or maybe it does, but does not show it) when I scroll down with the D-pad...
anyway to make that optional ?
3. other than it is a tad bit slower than 1.03. I've disabled Voice Command and it ahs helped a little bit... but I can feel it is slower than 1.03 (on Sprint)

Also, it seem that music player stops if I have turned the display off AND I loose signal...
Both of the above are annoying when I am traveling in train where I loose signal when trains go in and out of tunnels as well as subways...

Currently the maximum volume does fit this specification ;)
I personally use Opera Mini because it is STILL the fastest browser that its my touch needs :)

From my MacBook. It creates a folder called Internal Storage on the main device when I send a file. It didn't do this before, it would just go to My Documents. I think another app is handling received bluetooth files now...

First things first, you gotta unlock your phone. You can do so using cokeman's vogue unlocker found here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370
1. Download the unlocker to your desktop computer
2. Connect your phone via activesync
3. Run the unlocker and follow the directions on the screen.
4. Download and extract NFSFAN's ROM
5. Open the extracted folder and locate the rom update utility.ruu
6. Make sure you have an activesync connection and execute the ruu
7. Follow the directions on your screen, and you are well on your way to enjoying the joys of the NFSFAN ROMs.
Hope this helps.

How come websites that detect your phone model, can never detect my phone?
Like pandora's new app and qik.... they tell me my phone is not supported when it clearly is.
Never had this problem before this rom.

Hey sorry to stomp on this thread... I'm VERY happy with the NFSFAN 1.06.1 verizon rom, going to update to 1.07 tonight...
Have a separate question that I'm hoping someone out there can answer for me. This rom automatically sets up my MDN for arcsoft for sending MMS messages... I'm building a wm6.1 apache rom for my old phone, how can I do that? The ppckitchen won't do it, is there a customization or something that I'm missing?
Thanks for the help :D
EDIT: What I mean is how can I automatically set up the MDN. (I re-read my post and realized it might sound like I'm asking how to build a rom, I'm good there)

Would this violate your warranty?

Would this violate your warranty?
Yes. If there is a factory/release rom available for your phone, and you put it on before turning your phone in for warranty exchange, they don't normally say anything or notice (nor can they).
VZW still doesn't have an official rom available to go back to, so I'm just hoping my device doesn't die.

One thing I noticed in this rom is that if you start a call at max volume, it is really loud, then if you turn it down one notch it gets really quiet, and turning it back up it stays quiet... what can I do to fix this?

This is a known issue, we are working on it. I don't feel like explaining.

Youtube player from HTC looks nice but sadly it does this on some of the videos that are coded weird. The only youtube players that are high quality and play normal on all are Coreplayer (http://coreplayer.com/content/view/28/69/), vtap (http://www.vtap.com/wince_pc_cab_download.html) and milesmowbray's "youtubeplayer" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=385227).
Hi

Hey guys,
I am having an issue with bell 1.23 rom.. When I get an incoming call I am used to having s2u2 handle the call when using the 1.20 rom. Now with the new rom it seems that the phone itself trys to handle the call as well and it flashes back and forth between the phone answering service and the s2u2.
Thanks
Stop using s2u2's caller id.......

Eric thanks for the quick reply :) Do you know if there is a workaround for now on the volume issue, can I bypass the opal volume control (install cab/remove cab) ?
Thanks dude!
