I'm looking for the one (or better more than 1) app that will kick all the surrounding iphone addicts and will get them to see that the kaiser is not failing even with graphics and interface. I think that a game that takes the graphics to the the limit will do the job - any suggestions?

You don't need any software to do that; it already does.
iPhone users can't figure out how to use these types of phones, you need to be intelligent too, and, well, Apple users really aren't that intelligent...

The Iphone is sooo cute.......It's amazing how impressed people get with what are nothing but a bunch of shortcuts on the phone, You can't do everything you can on WM

If you are looking to get justification from me (or someone else) about the $$ you spent on the kaiser (vs. iphone), then you obviously missed the point.
p.s. you probably should have just asked what the best software was--instead of "why is my 1 year old phone better than the iphone"
p.p.s. maybe you should have bought an iphone. you might be one of the people Squeaky369 was talking about.
...of course, it sounds like he's trying to justify the kaiser also.
Here's my $0.02:
I used to only own sony ericsson phones. until I bought an Audiovox SMT5600. cool phone, but it just needed a "insert newest feature here," to be perfect. Then the next HTC phone came out, and, viola! I bought that one. fast forward through 6 HTC phones in as ~4 years.
I like them because they have great support by the folks here at xda-developers. THAT's enough for me. Customer support, only provided by people who actually care, the customer.
to sum it all up, the kaiser is only a good phone because of this website.

Well, that's the the hardest point: make the non intelligent understand that they are such.

You totally missed me: If I could get iphone for $100 less than what i have payed for my kaiser (and maybe I could - i just didnt look for) I would never got an apple,
I am more than proud to have my kaiser and I bought it after reading this website for long time and understanding that powerful machine with power web support is what I need. for me the apple is like a toy for spoiled users, but I do find myself many times trying to justify my choice.

when sanchez get his program out, then you can show them your phone can do everything the iphone does. just showing how customizable it is should do the trick

Just show them a cursory list of WM apps/games available for the TyTN II and that'll scare them sh*tless!!!! Nevermind the Java stuff too.
Just show them how customisable the TyTN II is also,
and and and and and...the list is almost endles!!!
I have a thread here somewhere where I had a device shoot-out with a colleague a few months back. He has (had now hehehehehe) an Apple iPhoney and I have my TyTN II....he ran for the hills dude!!!!!!!!

Are you expecting somebody to say "there was a guy with an iphone, and i pulled out my kaiser and showed him my latest program. his girlfriend left him for me and gave me a lot of money. then i asked him about copying and pasting and he grabbed his groin because my metaphorical kick actually caused him pain."

Funny, cbass.
No, but there is a joy to all of this. It's not about who's swinging the bigger stick. It's just that some iPhone owners are so ridiculous about their phones (while most of the iPhone owners I know already have either broken the screen or just traded them in.)
A buddy of mine lives 3000 miles away. I called him up to let him know I was visiting. Knowing he's a gadget geek, I asked if he had the new 3G iPhone. He did. He asked if I had it. I said "No, I bought the Tilt." He laughed and told me about three coworkers who bought Tilts and hated them. How ugly the screens were. How impractical. I kept my mouth shut knowing I had just put TouchFlo 2d on the Tilt and wanted to wait for him to see it in person. Now I have a buddy who is pissed he bought an iPhone.
P.S. I don't know where you guys bought your Kaisers. I bought mine from AT&T (refurbished, not that you could tell) for $150.

A horse that had just purchased an iPhone walked into a bar...bartender asked, "Why the long face?"
Thank you, thank you...
Just go to an iPhone owner, put your tilt up to their face, and ask, "Can your fancy phone DO THIS!!!" as you slide out the keyboard to the transformers sound they will have no other choice but to rip their garment apart and gnash their teeth in repentance...

I'm not saying iPhone is better, but that there really is no comparison.
The point of the iPhone is to be slick, simple, and easy to use. According to the vast user community, it meets those objectives. My VP buddy has the iPhone and so do most of the execs at our company now. The reason they like it is that it just "does what they want", and nothing more.
I tell the 1st buddy I mentioned about all the cool things my phone does, and he says "I don't need that". End of argument. I ask if this or that on the iPhone is configurable. He doesn't want to configure it.
When asked about the user interface, he says "They nailed it", meaning it is perfect. He doesn't need a slide-out keyboard, because the on-screen keyboard works just fine for him. No... He probably can't type as fast as I can on the Tilt, but he says "I don't need to type fast".
So there it is: The iPhone community (and it is growing) are guys that are not stupid.. their world just does not revolve around their phone as ours does. It isn't a toy to make better -- it is a tool.
An iPhone killer is a stripped down, simple, rudimentary version of the software I have now. It is so stripped down that it probably works a bit more reliably and a bit more spritely in responding to commands. It also has one more feature -- consistency of user interface. It can't "dump to the same old e-mail interface" when you just came off the slick screen. It still has to zoom and flip and do all that. iFonz was close, but the version I used wasn't very fast on the Kaiser. And to me (I'm one of you -- make no mistake) it didn't do all I wanted! (so I have to disqualify myself on that point...:) )
Someone should make that slick simple phone -- oh, they do --- but we wouldn't like it... :(
So it is about market. In my opinion, Apple knows how to mass market to people -- not engineers -- and HTC and MS know how to market to engineers. Unfortunately, people outnumber engineers by a considerable margin.

Actually alot of them do revolve around there phones..... they are materialistic about it alot of times. if apple can put their name on it they will buy it.
I would have to say it is a opinion though. just over a year ago people were amazed when i had a phone with a touch screen. now they don't hardly make phones without them. People are used to having a phone that did only the basic functions and anything more than that is over whelming to them to have much more than simple.
Reguardless it really is an inteligence thing. people are intimidated by carrying around a computer in their pocket and yet i can tell them they are amazed everytme they see my phone after i have flashed a new rom "its like a having a new phone everytime" I've actually talked about 10 different people into gettng this phone in the last 6 months reguardsless that its "death" is schedulled at the end of this year. I'm maitaing a fleet of kaisers and training windows mobile users. They all were confused when they got them but about all you have to say is it runs just like windows and all the sudden it gets easier and easier.......
One thing i can say is noone i have ever talked to after i show them around to all the things they can do and how to use them have ever gone, "damn i shouldn't have gotten this phone." they all go off to flaunt it to their iphone friends.

I think you may touched a point here - without having a pole i guess many of us (me included) are engineers and looking around me I can say that many of the typical users of the htc are eng while looking on marketing or admin guys you can see more apples and other "non flexible" tools, the excitement and challenge with ipotz ends after a week? a month? but us we have it every time our top chefs are releasing new rom or we find a way to tweak our phone

I think all people strive to get admired. IPhone users like to be admired because they possess an Iphone ("which looks so cute, and you poor guy - unfortunately - don't have one...") and we like to get admired because we tune our devices so cool ("Hey dude, did you see this? :D ").
Now you could argue, that it is very materialistic to be proud of possession instead of true achievement... but then, to be honest, we all tuned our devices so close to the edge, that reliability is not entirely guaranteed (to remain positive), which then probably isn't very smart either.
In the end, whether you take joy out of posessing something you don't understand or take joy out of bricking something you almost understand doesn't really matter...
enjoy :)

Oi.... We sure love to talk cr@p about others. This reminds me of threads on japanese motorcycle forums talking about Harley-Davidson motorcycles and riders. (By the way, does Touch HD stand for Harley-Davidson edition? ;) ).
iPhone appeals to a different market, different type of user. I am a long-time WinMo user and is very much a Microsoft fan (well, some of the time)... and I for one think iPhone is a terrific device. Not for people on this forum, mind you; if you like loading ROMs while you have your morning coffee, iPhone not for you. If you like to customize your device no end, it's not for you. If you like your software mostly free... well, you get the picture. That said, no other phone on the market comes even close to the feel of the iPhone capacitative touchscreen, and for the lay user, it's very easy... there is usually only one way to get something done.
Can't Kawasaki and Harley riders just get along... oops, wrong thread, make it HTC and iPhone users :D
Me? I want a Touch HD with a 3000mAh battery that's no thicker than stock, a capacitative touch screen, and US 3G coverage :)

Let me tell you somthing else. I do have an HTC TyTN II since september 2007. Couple of months ago I purchase the iPhone 3G for curiosity and I got very disapointed.
- Although there is a huge list of applications for it, and most of them are very cheap, most of the applications are crap and most of the time if you are techy... you won't find what you are looking for, but just simple things.
- Since the applications can only be purchased via iTunes, you must just pray for the right application got approved by apple and eventually be sold. This is so restrictive that one well know tatering app was banned by iTunes just few hours after they authorize and publish it. No reasons or explanations. In some cases, if you purchased that application but did not install... apple erase it from your library and credit back what you paid for it.
- user rarely (I never did0) see error messages from the OS or applications, but if you track the communication between iPhone and iTunes and Apple, you will notice that phone can average 15+ errors per day... errors that phone report to apple secretely and that user never "perceive".
- Most of the time, when phone fails, no error message is shown, you just find the phone unresponsive and with the static screen.... after a while it continues (I presume the phone kind of restart the application "seemlesly" for the user and report no message, so for the user there was no error)
- GPS is very quick, it will find you between 7 and 15 secs you activate GoogleMaps, but since you can't install maps on the memory, you require internet connection to enjoy GPS.... that SUCKS if you are roaming. In fact, except for Google maps, the most you can find is software to show your latitude and longitud and some private DB of closeby places.
After several weeks playing with the iPhone 3G... I return back to my precious TyTN II and give away my iPhone to my wife who is not a demanding user as I'm... she just call, SMS and email... some browsing ... nothing else

iphone
is like a
butterfly,
if you stop chasing it,
it will come to you.
But wm phone is worthless if you are not chasing daily improvements and modings and maybe here is part of the answer: we - the kaiser users - are not here for perfectness but for the chase after perfectness. when we take the phone out of box we start an endless journey while iphone buyers take out their box what they believe is perfected already.

Iphone's are absolutely lovely - you walk into a shop, buy it, and it just works. Beautifully.
I bet if someone posted something about the iphone being "great for people who don't expect perfection, but enjoy the endless journey to try to find it" (!)....the whole kaiser community would be like, "ROFL, uR f0Ne5 bad!"
I'll say the same here as elsewhere on the forum - I love my kaiser specifically for it's customisation. I really don't think I could be as happy with any other phone, ever...
...BUT...
...it took me a good few months of reading and learning to make the 'necessary' modifications (touch-friendly etc). I would never, ever, ever, ever recommend someone buys a kaiser, unless they're willing to spend an unhealthy amount of time modding it (just like most of the members here have, myself included).
It's absolutely awful out of the box, and you know it.
That's why xda's been such a godsend for me, because without it, I'd have just bought a cheap-ass pay-and-go mobile and swapped the sim card over. Thank christ I was able to put the time/effort in to get my beautiful phone up to scratch. :) And finally (!) now, any other phone would be a poor, poor substitute for me.

I would hardly call it trash, not at all. This has been beaten to death over and over, the fact is: it’s not going to end.
Let’s just list a few facts to clear things up
Fact: Both the iPhone and WM phones crash
(Weekly, monthly, daily. Whatever it is, they still do it. I've seen both of them do it, I've had both of them do it.)
Fact: Both have a lot of errors.
(Apple feels if the user doesn’t know about the error they don’t care and for the most part they are right. Windows feels it is easier for them to just display an error and let them fix it from there)
Fact: iPhone is a very functional phone out of the box
(They took the user interfaced and polished it and polished it and polished it to a mirror screen protector shine. Everything is smooth, sparkly and jazzy.)
Fact: Windows Mobile stock unmodified is painfully awful.
(Dear Zeus, when I had my phone replaced after damages under warranty, I had to sit there the entire ride home with stock wm6, without a stylus mind you. It was painful.)
My phone has over 10,000,000 customizations that separate it not only from every other phone in the world, but from nearly every other Kaiser in the world. I guaranty you'd be hard pressed to find an exact copy of my Kaiser, simply because of all of the modifications, combinations of modifications and custom code.
Windows Mobile becomes so customized to our own personality that it is no longer windows mobile. It becomes our own, Prodream Mobile or En1ggy Mobile. If ATT took a look at my phone they wouldnt recognize it, same with HTC. (I'd list Microsoft, but I think they'd be more amazed a previous stock wm phone runs so great)
We are no longer users of Windows Mobile users, we are a collection of close knit users of our own custom Mobile System.
The iPhone isn't bad, it just isn't for us. The customization isn't there, even when jailbroken.

The iPhone is great out of the box, so what? I'd rather have a terrible device out of box that i can upgrade and improve then one stuck at a certain level.
Apple has such a clean slick device but they forgot important things, such as copy and paste.
More cause for hatred over the iPhone is because it's vastly overrated, i've had a phone that could do what the iPhone could do, and more for a very long time. The only difference is because it's "apple" and that's hip, sleek and artistic. I'm not against apple, I'm simply against the hype.

I'm pretty sure that if I took a shiney new iphone, and a shiney new kaiser, and let a random selection of typical shoppers try 'em on the streets, most of 'em would think the kaiser was a POS with a godawful UI/phone frontend - but with a sexxay keyboard. That's definitely what I'd think, and I *love* my tilt. The IPhone however, has it licked from the start which is massively important to those who don't want nor need to tinker with things... :D
I guess it's a bit like buying a car - I just want to buy one and f*cking drive it - I don't care if it'll be better than the rest of the pack, not if it means I have to give up every sunday morning to 'improve' it's under-the-bonnet bits. ;)
I guess it comes down to the kind of person you are, and where your interests lie.

Do you pop out skyfire and show them youtube, EMBEDDED?
Do you start up quake and start shooting shit?
Whats the program you use to shut up iphone users?
It'll be a good list of cool programs, hopefully everyone dont say skyfire.. lol
Include a link if you can, that way if it sounds like a cool app, we can all get it.

Damn well put.
thats prob the best explanation you could ever get for free.
myself i won a iphone in a bar some guy bet me his iphone that i couldnt drink a certain number of drinks and walk out of the bar.
well needless to say i took the iphone. mind you i have a tilt, i played with the iphone for a while but when it comes down to it Scrtcwlvl is right its all in the customation part of it. i ended up giving, yes giving the iphone to my friend because for me it was like going backwards from where i am with WM and my tilt. (fuze soon i hope)
I personally like the ability to change everything vs being told what to have and not to have on your phone/device.
all in all it just depends on what you want you device to do.
fwiw: applications for iphone will never catch up to WM, there is way too big a head start and apple is too controlling. always has been always will be.
done.

Just too funny! I read this in a different thread so I had to try it on my first flight...... but applies here also!
I just got back in town from a business trip to West palm beach, FL. On the way down I was playing with GPSToday. Found out if I hit Quick GPS before I got on the plane then once the seatbelt light went off...turned on the phone and started GPS test took 3 min (usually my GPS takes a min or two top when I'm driving) Then went to today screen and started GPS today....
Now for the fun part...on the way home....the guy next to me had his iGarbage....talking it up the whole time and kinda making fun of the size of mine...(me the whole time just nodding)
When my GPSToday screen started it showed the plane was moving at 447 MPH. I looked at him and said "Damn were going kinda slow" He looked at me and said "What are you talking about?" I showed him the speed of the plane and then the altitude we were at....just then the Pilot came across the speaker:
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH we are at: and gave the almost exact number on my phone!!!! I almost died! The look on his face was priceless!!!!
He then turned off his phone and put it away.....I then said "Wow, he picked up the pace...now moving at 489 MPH....iphony guy didn't even look at me.
Then I started playing Monopoly...and ask if he wanted to play....The nice man got up and went to the washroom.....when he return I said with a serious face: "I would have flushed it too" ROFLMFAO!!!! Then the guy in the aisle seat ask him if he could switch seats because he wanted to play me in Monopoly...PRICELESS!!!!!
This guy couldn't get away from me fast enough.......Best trip ever!!! The Business worked out well also ;)
Enjoy

it kinda comes down to this, if your wife or girlfriend can pick up your phone and start using it you probly dont want it :D keep it complicated and hard to use (for other people ) and you can keep your phone.
oh yeah i do like the iphones screen, say what you want but the screen is great. everything else is locked up tighter than a frogs bum.

I would try and get away as fast as possible myself, and I don't even have an iPhone. Maybe he went in the bathroom to join the mile high club, cause I've never met a chick that cares about phones, but they all seem to dig the iPhone.

i was telling my buddy who got the iphone when it first came out...guy couldn't download any attachments from emails...couldn't save anything to the phone even when i sent him ring tonez...couldn't use mp3 ringtonez...didn't allow bluetooth items to be sent from windows mobile to iphone...
from day one the two phones can't be compared to each other...plus like everyone mentions...the xda-developers...support you can't get with apple...apple limits their software and can screen out stuff they feel won't make them cash...xda-developers knows that certain software like skyfire is way more developed than other software because people like us are here in the forums giving our input...finding the problems...and making it a hell of alot more useful to us...
thanks to people like Dutty...Garmin...so many i can't name them all...
microsoft hasn't done much for us...but thank got for xda-developers...
Most Used Applications
Palringo Chat Program
Skyfire Web Browser
Manila 2D - which i hope will be replaced by Manila 3D soon...in development!!!
The occassional freebies like MS Voice Command, TOMTOM Navi test software...depending on the rom developers...all this MAKES IT WORTH THE $ FOR A WINDOWS MOBILE PHONE
NOT TO MENTION THAT WE GET UPDATES ON ALL THIS STUFF SUCH AS DRIVERS, SOFTWARE, and SPEEEEEEEEEEED!

Hi all,
Just to let you know, a new release of GPSToday is out:
1) Now choose between today-screen plugin version or a standalone full-screen app!
2) Now supports GeoTerrestrial GeoMail. Send your GPS position or points of interest to others via SMS or email!
3) Automatically see your friends' current location on the GPSToday map when they send you a GeoMail
4) GeoMail automatically pre-fills the street address so recipients need not fumble around with lat/long numbers
5) GeoMail also sends your speed and heading when you are moving
6) Weather updating mechanism is tightened up
7) Today screen flicker is removed
8) Now you can change the temperature display color on the today screen to suit your needs
9) And other minor fixes and enhancements.
Desktop: http://www.geoterrestrial.com/
Mobile: http://m.geoterrestrial.com/
Thanks,
-The GeoTerrestrial Team

I am a brand new kaiser owner. I'm very impressed with what this phone can do but at the same time I've put about 8 hours into finding the right apps to do certain things and fooling with settings.
When I bought this, having never had a touchscreen phone, my choice was between a tilt and iphone. I chose the tilt for the keyboard as I was planning to use the device for email and web surfing.
I had no idea about this site and am so glad I found it. I enjoy all the tweaking and never could have done even the little I have without this site.
Now, just yesterday, my mother, who is in her 60s, said to me "I want a phone that can check email and surf the internet." I told her to get an iphone. At first she diddn't understand why I would buy one phone but recommend another to her even though they have similar functionality to the lay(wo)man. She understood after I started explaining to her how to flash the rom, how I went from IE to Opera Mini to Firefox to Skyfire before I found a browser I really liked, etc.
As has been said, the target user for these devices is totally different. I wonder how many, like myself, diddn't realize how vastly different these devices are until after they've bought one. I just got lucky, I guess.
