The concept of "Pictures set" is totally implemented : when you install or reinstall AutomaticWallpaperChanger, you will have to choose one (that is to say apply the wallpapers you want)

The archive can be extracted everywhere (and not only in directories such as "Storage card", "Carte de stockage" and so on). Thanks to Suiller for his work !

Dutch storage card names are supported !
Smart pictures managment :

Search for "xx.jpg" pictures in your <Storage card root directory>/AutomaticWallpaperChanger (xx are numbers from 00 to 23)
If the script is launched at a time there is not picture for, then it will set the previous picture as wallpaper (e.g : if launch at 8:30 am but there are only 03.jpg, 06.jpg and 09.jpg, then 06.jpg will be set as wallpaper)
During an execution, the script will scan your pictures directory, find the next picture he will have to set as wallpaper and set a task at the corresponding time (e.g : with the 03.jpg, 06.jpg and 09.jpg pictures, if it is 6:46 am, then the next launch will be at 9:00)

To install it :

Mortscript 4.1 or 4.11b (http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&entry=ms_program&action=list) must be installed on your ppc
Extract the archive and eventually put your own "xx.jpg" pictures (where xx is between 00 and 23) in a directory which is inside the created AutomaticWallpaperChanger\Pictures directory (at the beginning there is only the Moon pictures set inside of it)

then launch the AutomaticWallpaperChanger.mscr file (select the "Reinstall" option if you have used an older version).


To uninstall it :

Simply launch the AutomaticWallpaperChanger.mscr file and select the "Uninstall" option.

Hey If you could tell me where you got the moon images, then maybe I could get the sun version. Do you think it would would be possible to write a script that allows for the seasons to be included as well. At the present version, my script only uses the hour number to change the wallpaper.
However, it is possible to use all the data that are linked to time, that is to say year, month, day, hour, minute, second. So a season changing wallpaper script is possible.

Better : combinate several phenomenons is possible, such as hour and month, so that we could display situations such as "8:00 am during summer" or "2:00 pm during autumn".

I can do all these things but i need pictures : the best would be pictures of the same place taken at different time of the day and at different seasons.

I can see how it's easier to write a script that way, but the problem will be the pictures. It would be easier picture wise if we'd be able to use two different sets somehow. I will do some searching, I'll let you know if I find some decent pictures. Where did you get the moon? you didn't shoot them yourself did you? Cheers

Hi friend like told you before you had a very nice idea, so I completed a concurrent script :p (here attached) just to integrate your genius :D

I modified some things, because for ex. I don't use AS & when I plug my phone the script isn't more able to find images in Internal Storage or whatever, so it copies automatically from a masterdir to a dir in internal memory.

Then I've added some checks just to be sure that dirs are in the right place & I've added also the function itself to install/uninstall/reinstall, without the need to have another script to disable the queue and delete the file under startup.

And for finish I've optimized the script to be fastest possible by don't executing unneed/repetitive code.

If you wish take inspiration by my code to make things (I hope) better.

ps: the zip file must be exploded under your "internal storage" / "storage card", inside there is also the script

The problem is, that I am doing it at work. And the only software I have here is Paint.Net... So please excuse if it could take a little bit more time, because it needs some more steps that with Photoshop...

hi friends, made other changes in the script, now there is no need to edit the script itself (at least for WWE roms) it is able to detects ALL paths, just copy the dir & enjoy :D

About how much single moonphases we are talking? 4 different (new halb, full, half)?

Then for the night itself minimum 5 different positions for the moon so just for the night we have appr. 20 different images. plus the day...:D

it does not suck memory because the process is inserted into the notify queue... so they trip is this: the script run => load the BG => load itself into the queue => exit

so it takes memory & CPU just for the time it is running, and it takes just 1 second to complete all the steps above

First "Storage Card" is a directory, not a file.
Once you create it, you have to expand the archive inside of it. That means you should have a "\Storage Card\AutomaticWallpaperChanger" directory that contains the script AND the "xx.jpg" files (xx are numbers greater than 00 and smaller than 23)

I had the same message. I have copied all 24 jpg from internal storage to folder Automaticwallpaperchanger in my documents and now is working correctly. You can use another pictures, but with the same name likely 00 to 23:o

Yes, that's what's looks like, maybe I was a bit unclear. I thought it was a language specific problem so I created a new folder \storage card in which I put the file in which it would run but still give me the other error message. If I put the file on my regular storage card which is \Opslagkaart\WallpaperChanger then I get the error message I got earlier on, which makes me suspect that the first error is in fact language related. Is it a lot of work to change the script, so that we could test is the problem still persist when the script is no longer looking for \Storage Card\WallpaperChanger but instead \Opslagkaart\Wallpaper Changer. Just a thought.

Oops i'm sorry, i forgot to modify the pattern of the pictures to be copied ("moon*.jpg" instead of "*.jpg") :(

Now what you have to do is to download the 0.32 release and extract it on the same directory than the 0.31 (don't forget to save your own "xx.jpg" files before). Then perform a "Reinstall" and it will be ok !

* in the Sunstand Europa cutted collection, i notice that the 2 first pictures are identical.
* and same problem in the Worldrotate cutted : pictures around the 12th one are identical.

If this correct, do you know that, if you have a 00.jpg and a 02.jpg files for example, the 00.jpg one will be displayed from 0:00 am to 1:59 am ?

I imagine i can create a background wallpaper changer mode but there is already such programs (BackgroundChanger if i remember well). Anyway, tell me if you (and other people) are interested by this feature.

And, yes, AutomaticWallpaperChanger is totally compliant with Background Image on All Pages (by mun_rus).

I think i will. Two ideas seems to be ok :
* possibility to select pictures everywhere on the ppc memory and indicate when they should be set as wallpaper
* extend the wallpaper changer schedule to days, months (years ?) scales (at the moment we could only schedule on 24h)

One other thing i wish is to propose several pictures sets. Masterofdisasters, Int-2k and Davidebeatrice have started the job... Let's see what will happen next.

hi plp, even if I have very little "free" time I corrected my original script to do everything automatically.

in few words, simply extract the .zip file in your "internal storage" / "storage card", then run the script... it will recognize automatically all the dirs even if using a NO wwe rom.

of course changing in the original dir ALL images from 00 to 24 is possible to reinstall a different image set (run again for a reinstallation or uninstall)

note: it will create a copy of the image set (from 00 to 23) under internal memory to prevent corruption for who (like me) doesn't use ActiveSync

hoping to give more ideas :D

This is possible with the 0.32 release : if you want to set a wallpaper at 8:00 am and another at 2:00 pm, you just have to put two pictures which names are "08.jpg" and "14.jpg" in the directory where you expand the archive.

Your calendar background seems to be good. But the more i'm thinking about it, the more i can't see how to do this... Well we could use a picture per day but that means 365 pictures :eek:

About the glassclock, i'm totally agree and that is what i use in my diamond (look at the screenshots :D)

Your idea includes 12 pictures, so ok. But i'm not sure that having text in background (the days table in your calendar) and text in foreground (time, phone call, calendar appointments) is a good idea :D

Seriously, i'm thinking about a method that allows to specify a particular schedule on a set, BUT by not transforming the actual system into a impractical thing.
I mean, today we can schedule the display of a given set on a 24h period. It's simple and i want it stays simple.
But, i also want to introduce a more complex schedule system that can consider days, months and years. And also minutes and seconds

I really only thought about seasons as there are only four of those (and I would love to see the exact day on my screen with a nice snowy of leafy picture) . But there was one other thing I was wondering, Is it possible (albeit impractical, I know) to write a script that allows for the wallpaper to be changed in sat 1/24 of a second, so that we may see moving wallpapers etc. If Im struck with more ideas I'll keep you posted

As i did this, i have several comments :
Car on the road : several pictures are missing (10->15, 17)
Worldrotate cutted : it's my opinion but your earth seems to rotate strangely :)

hi Julien... I'm proud of you, you are doing a very good job :D

anyway I noticed that jpeg files are not well compressed, for who didn't know exists a professional software able to re-compress with a special alghorithm all jpegs, making them smaller of 60/70%

this is a great improvement, files size apart, the compression method used stresses a bit less the CPU, so image can be loaded faster

this software is called JDO & I've made a simple interface (here (http://ficca.bounceme.net)) to load and process un-optimized jpegs

You'll be surprised how much can be re-compressed jpegs

I'll suggest also to resize images at 320x240 (always trought jdo), there is no real difference in the small diamons display

note: the only bad note about this software is that the application leaves a small "watermark" in the upper-left corner of the processed image, anyway it is very small and absolutely not visible

At the moment, yes, this application is designed only for the HTC Diamond. Personally, i don't see any problem to adapt it to your Samsung Omnia... Except that i don't know how to change the wallpaper on such a device ! So you or someone else will have to tell me what is the registry key / file to modify :D

i think the weather implementation would be absolutely brilliant!

as of right now there only needs to be 24 images for a full cycle right? well if the weather was implemented that would result in a LOT of images depending on how many different weather differences you had... (how many differences does the diamond have??)

if you went with just the basic sunny, partial clouds, fully cloudy, rainy, stormy, that would be 5 x the 24 images for the cycle equalling 120 images

anyways, once I get a video tv tuner for my laptop im going to make some good cycle images using screenshots from the map editor from the new xbox 360 game "Far Cry 2". in this editor you can create maps for the multiplayer portion of the game and it lets you choose what time of day (down to the minute) you want your map set in and the sun shows in the sky at the appropriate setting. there is also a storm factor that you can set from 1-100 percent so if the weather thing ever gets implemented we could do something with it here too...

in the present release (0.50) you can name your pictures "xx.jpg" where xx is between 00 and 23. And for example, if you have a 06.jpg and a 09.jpg (and not 07.jpg nor 08.jpg), then the 06.jpg picture would be displayed from 06h00 to 09h00.
in the upcoming version, your pictures can be named as you want. The schedule feature is driven from a "config.jpg" file that allows you to set a begin time and a period for each picture (e.g : with the previous example, you would have a "2008_10_23_06_00_00" for the begin time and "0000_00_01_00_00_00" or "0000_00_00_24_00_00" for the period)

I had a Sony VAIO C1 laptop a number of years ago that did the same thing. It changed through sixteen wallpaper - four per day - and then four new ones each season. The only problem on a PC is it runs the wallpaper app as .html and a lot of people were getting viruses.

At first I thought to myself, "hey wait I don't want a different image every hour" then I realized, "just copy 3 images for the different hours of the day, duhhh."

I'm working on a program in VB.Net to turn like 4 images into 24 based on the 00-23 filename, and also specify which images get which group. So if I had 3 images, I could say, I want image1 to have 00-06, image2 to have 07-15, image3 to have 16 - 23.

I'll post it when I'm finished. It should compliment this script nicely. All one would need to do after running my utility is drag and drop the new directory into their script folder.

Ok, I'm adding a little bit to this thread.

I made a new set of images. I like them. Made them with photoshop. Hope someone else likes them also. (chronsterSky.zip)

I also wrote a small program in VB that lets you add your files to a list and it will name them for you and put them into a directory. It's a little buggy, but works for the most part. If you have 3 images you want stretched accross the day, just add the 3 images to the list and the program will evenly distribute them into 23 files. If you've got a large number of files and don't feel like naming them, just add them to the list in the order you want them to appear and the program will name them. I've found a bug where if I add 15 files, it doesn't get through the list correctly. I'll fix this in future versions, but for now, this should help people quickly name the files the correct way needed for this script. (outputDir.zip)

Also have an image pack which is basically 4 different images stretched across the day. They are just images of nature during a time of the day...(chronsterDayNight.zip)

So I guess it transitions into night a little too quickly, so what I did was, I copied 02, and deleted 21, and changed the name of the 02 copy to 21. Looks better at around 9. (i didn't upload a new zip, just saying what i did so other users can do the same.)

Also, the 11-12-13 files seem a little too bright. I'm looking for images of flocks of birds so that we can still see our calender and call history items, as well as the greyed out small clock when you flip the big clock upward.

One more thing. I found these manila files at another forum, but i never saved the zip so i can't remember where the thread was. I had them on a folder on my storage card.

Did you try changing the names of the pictures to 00 through 23 where each picture is named in the order you want it to display?:)

Thanks for the great apps! I love autowallpaper changer. The last 1 I had when using symbian only does 7 days.

Juz had an idea relating to moon phase. First just to state this: I'm no programmer nor moon phase expert :)

As a Chinese, I look at lunar calendar all the time to determine when I need to do certain festive function.

It would definitely be neat if the autowallpaper changer can allow changes of wallpaper by day indicating new moon to full moon for say 30 days (lunar days)

I believe it could be a different implementation because this apps is currently running on a 24 hr clock, changing a picture per hour.

So yes, Lunar Moon Phase by day of month.

It's just an idea. Sorry I just have idea but no real contribution

I think this is possible. If you set S2U2 to randomly cycle through images in a folder, but then stuck a single image in that folder and had AutomaticWallpaperChanger overwrite the file every 60 minutes (and set S2U2 to change the image every 10minutes) it would work.

Great App! I just loaded it onto my Fuze and it works great! This is just what I've been seeking, to keep from seeing the same image on my phone all the time. it is pretty user friendly, too. One more thing. I found these manila files at another forum, but i never saved the zip so i can't remember where the thread was. I had them on a folder on my storage card.

This have a bug. Whean I copy all files to Win directory, then NOT operating sw button CALENDAR. :confused: Problem is in this manila file: 1c684cd8_manila. Pls anyone help me resolve this problem.

help! i installed it and when i uninstalled , the moon background remained on home screen and i can't get rid of it and put back my background 4 all tabs coz the moon picture covers it in a matter of a second when i disable/enable my tf3d..how to get rid of the moon picture?

fixed it myself by reverting to a backup made with sprite earlier..but the fact is , this software didnt fully uninstall..

I uploaded and got this running, a great visual and will be much more fun than one picture, and changing it occasionally.

One question about memory - I have stock Diamond - I downloaded Mortscript, Automatic Changer, and 3 sets of pictures - they are all on My Device, hogging Memory.

I put Mortscript under Internal Storage, but my Memory really, really dropped.
Do these programs use a lot of space there?

Once I put the zip file into my storage card, I am not sure where I am supose to extract to. any help would be great because this is a must have application. As an idea, would it be possible to incorporate a set of my daughter aging? Would I just place 24 pics in place of the 24 in a set?

Hello everyone !

After a week of silence, here are some news (and answers) :

First, i'm working on the scheduler (see the first post). This is pretty difficult as now AutomaticWallpaperChanger uses, for each set, a config.ini file that contains instructions for every picture (the first time it should appear and its time period). That means several complex situations (e.g : 2 pictures with 2 different periods that have to be set as wallpaper at the same moment). Anyway, this will be complete in a few days :)
About the clean uninstall feature, it is ok. This will be in the next release too.


Concerning the questions :
Q : Is it working on Manilla 2D / other WM devices ?
A : No. But if you are interested to make AutomaticWallpaperChanger compliant to such environnments, you just have to give me the registry key / file that contains the picture path.

Q : I just make a wallpapers set and I want it to be published on this topic
A : upload it on the forum or, if you cannot do that, send it to me (gorrunwe AT gmail DOT com)

Wallpapers for the Omnia is in HKLM / Security / AppInstall / TSKAllowed registered. The wallpaper itself is located in the Windows folder under stwater.gif.
