No, impossible. I have been looking for a way also but it seems that it's the built-in thing in windows mobile. The best you can do is to change its color that is close to your background color.

You could use WISBAR and make a design of your own. Use the normal Icons and for the Bars' background you could use a portion of the wallpaper you are using...
