Hi,

Couldn't find the answer with search...

Just installed then latest version (beta) of Opera and it's quicker.

How can I make this default browser when using the TF3D tab and TF3D favorites.

(I have clicked the 'use as default button' within the Opera menu, but it doesn't work?

Any ideas?

Thanks :)

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:DEFBROWSER\

Value 0="Opera"
Value 1="xxxxx"

xxxxx = Location of opera.exe

It should do the trick!

Im running what I guess is latest opera 2128 and its at least 3 times faster than 1938 which came in my ROM.
The rotation function works flawlessly 98% of the time.
That annoying bug that brought up the phone display is gone.

Well what I did was uninstall the Opera that came with ROM using normal procedure then I just installed the New Opera and soft reset and it linked to the TF3D launcher automatically.
I didn't touch the registry at all.
I don't remember if when prompted to install on Internal or Device what did I choose. I believe I choosed Internal Storage.

I provide you with the .cab I used. LINK (http://cid-3c85687df0c32a4a.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/XDA%20Developers/Opera/Opera%20v9.5%7C_Build%202128%20VGA%20WWE.cab).

Woow I don't know on my ROM it appears on the uninstall list.
Maybe try installing and you will get the overwrite option.

Installing the CAB file for Opera v9.5 2128 will first REMOVE three old files: Opera 9/OperaL/OperaPreL and then install the new files under the same names Opera 9/OperaL/OperaPreL. No need to update the registry because the same file name (OperaL) is used in HKLM.
Jus to be recoverable, I renamed the original Opera 9/OperaL/OperaPreL (1938) to Opera 9 (o)/OperaL(o)/OperaPreL(o) and save them in the Internal Storage.

Opera was NOT listed in the original All Settings->Remove Programs. The CAB file for v9.5/2128 deployed and updated Opera to v9.5, but it doesn't generate Opera in the list of Remove Programs either.

The beta version is indeed sensibly faster, but some white frames/text boxes are present during screen transitions, which will need to be removed in the final version. I am keeping Opera v9.5 in presence of such minor flaws because it is more responsive and faster.

Thanks for the advice, atleast someone has taken initiative to help.

Sorry Marios96, I have tried this registry trick after installing Opera (beta from there website) to the "Internal Storage" , but whenever I am clicking on the Browser icon in the Internet tab, it is keep opening the old one (as I have just installed the new version because there wasn't any option to uninstall the old one).
I have even soft-reset the PPC as well but no joy.
Any other trick ???

When you click on/install the CAB file that was copied over to your Internal storage, you were asked whether you agree to remove the old version of Opera. The old versions (again, for three files listed above) of Opera will be removed after you answered "yes" and the new versions under the same file names will be copied over. Because the file names are the same, the registry values are kept unchanged. Are you sure you are still using the old version after installing the new version? What did Opera say in Help->About Opera? I am seeing Version: 9.5; Build: 2128... And I did feel the speed :)

I have tried to install the Beta from Opera website, during the installation it DID NOT ask to remove the previous version, just simply installed on the Internal Storage.
But once I have tried to installed the "Sergio PC - Post 4" attached Cabit DID asked me to remove the previous version, and I said yes, but at the end of the installation it said "Installation Unsuccessfull".
Help required in this issue, as 9.5 is really faster than the pre-installed one.

Sid

Any ideas?

Hmmmm.. So the remaining option I have got left is to install the Beta version from the Opera website to the Internal Storage and keep it as an Icon under programs. But sadly my Internet Tab is useless after that.
Thanks for your help

What do think guys ??

Thank Sergio I will definately try this application.

WoooHoooo:
1. I took both the EXEs backup from the \Windows directory to my PC (Opera9.exe & OperaL.exe)
2. Install the Beta from Opera website to the Internal storage
3. Through Resco Explorer OVERWRITE both the beta EXEs to the Windows directory (it did ask me to overwrite on the existing files)
4. Click the browser icon from the TF3D and Voila
5. This is Wierd, if I am uninstalling the opera beta from the Internal storage later-on, the TF3D internet icon is not working, So I kept that installation intact for the new version to work.

The beta is much much faster, but now the only PROBLEM is that the homepage is just opening at "m.yahoo.com", how can i change that to something else e.g. www.google.com (I have tried by the browser setting but no joy), I think m.yahoo.com is tagged to the icon in the registry, anyone knows the solution for that ????

Wierd.. I am using the US stock ROM and radio, too, but hope this is not an issue.. And did you guys check Help -> About Opera even though the installation claimed to fail?

I am happy that you seem to make it! For changing the home address, I presumed you have tried Settings ->
Start page..It doesn't allow you to do anything there?

Ok, I ignored the "Can't uninstall..." message and installed it onto the Internal Storage and guess what: when I start Opera from the Manila's Browser tab it starts the new version!

YES! joedoe, i guess that's why it's called a beta yet.. In addition to the speed, it now has a "Forward" button on the home screen, but the Help button (where I confirmed the updates version) only works in the first open of Opera.. Yes, it's a beta for sure. The speed is impressive however :)

Well, the Help button keeps working for me every time I press it (and it didn't work on the stock version of Opera).

Greetings to all.

Thanks for the CAB. I have been enjoying the responsiveness and speed of Opera v9.5 Build 2128, but the white box when loading the initial page of Opera (with progress dots flashing at the bottom) and the prolonged waiting time (with fixed green on the progress bar) in loading some pages are somewhat bothersome? Any idea to improve them? Thanks much for advice.
