Just noticed this message on Twitter (@htc (http://twitter.com/htc/statuses/954914519)):
@aqtrans while we can't officially comment on backporting OSes, we will say that we are happy there is such a vibrant developer community!
It makes sense for them to be unable to officially okay the practice because that would probably upset multiple carriers as well as Microsoft, but I'd say this is definitely a good thing for xda-developers. :)
