I'm not sure if this issue is specific to the Diamond or all WM6.1 phones, but does anyone know of infrared remote software which will work on Windows Mobile 6.1?

I am not sure of any specific software although I believe that it does exist. Problem is though that most of our phones do not have the right IR to actually work more than a couple feet away.

That's right. The IR range can be very poor. I've tried servel apps on my Trinity but find that to use my stereo I have to be about 2 inches from it but the TV works across the room!

If you still interested try out Novvi Remote or Vito Remote. Both allow your WM to learn from other remotes plus you can build you own screen.

I have heard the some older iPaq devices had much better/stronger IR so if you got one or can get one try them out.

Novvi Remote doesn't work on many new phone's and I'm not sure they care enough to fix that. I guess I'll just have to try them all and see what works, I was hoping someone had tried and found one.

I'll update if I find anything.

I have a Wizard( Imate K-jam) running wm 6.1 and i use both wincesoft remotecontrol 2 and Novi remote deluxe with no problems, both operate the tv etc. from across the living room.

Yeah, I used to have one of those iPaqs (the 2215) and it had consumer IR and came with remote control software. I never really used it except once in class when the VCR buttons didn't work and the remote was missing. It was humorous because nobody knew how it was rewinding and stopping on its own.

The Samsung i730 had a powerful IR and built in remote control that you could program, ie a universal remote

On a similar topic and assuming I can find software which will function well with my phone, does anyone know of a good IR transmitter which will attach to mini USB? I've found some that will attach to a headphone jack, but unfortunatelly my phone does not have one.

Thanks.
