i AM STILl messing around with this but I still have one question. How did you next S2P and other programs inside TL? Such as when I go to the Music tab S2P is in the tab but you can still see the menu on the bottom of teh screen? Also I ahve it set to hide top bar and bottom bar but why is the top above the desktop bar blank?

That's what I am still searching for, too! How can I start programs inside TL?

And another question. I'm using the newest version of TL and the skin "touchflo 3d", but as mentioned on the homepage of TL my settings menu seems not to work right.

I'm searching for the option to choose a today plugin for the plugin page of TL.
Futhermore I still have no clue how to add a widget. At least I cannot change the weather location (by tapping the weather just updates).

Please, it is such an enourmous and powerful tool, but if someone has no idea in editing or building a xml, it can just be used the way a skin is.

First of all, your job is really great ! I love it.

I've installed it on my Omnia and found 1 problem for me. (I've read and searched my issue here and xda-dev already and found a numbers who faced this.)

When using "Direct" mode for footer, the position is incorrect and not accurate. For example, Now i am at Home, when put the finger on "Home" tab and navigate to "Setting" (by draging) it will stop at another tab everytime. This happened to every tabs. I don't know how to fix this but this mode is much preferable for all TF3D users.

When using "Paged", it needs to be navigated by draging from the left to upper-right or right to upper-left (instead of left to right/right to left). Moreover, when select whatever tab, the footer will always back to Home (instead of staying at the selected tab)

Need your help.

I have just begun to use the Android Theme, and I just love it !

There is only one problem I have with it, regarding the Widget Manadger...
Each time I open / close it, the rows size will somehow double...

The first time I open it, the rows have a normal size, the time after, the size will have increased, and so on.

I guess a picture would be more explicit...

Ok ThrottleLauncher 0.9.6 is sufficiently broken for me. First of all the main problem is in the above post.

Sorry it took me ahwile to answer! I looked forever on the TL forum and the only thing I could find is that the white top bar replacement is the culprit! AP has said that because it is still experimental it tends not to work right! Everytime I tried it I had the same result, freezes and the screen you posted above! I choose just to leave that alone! AP said he is going to develop it further for the next TL. But it is still experimental! I think you should just disable it and it should go back to normal! :)

The top bar should always be there but you can adjust the screen height by going into throttle config and clicking on advanced on the first page that will drop down the height settings and you can test out what you want from there! :)

I've answered both of your post on the throttle forums. Yes, the issue is the full screen top bar, it is experimental.

For the TF3D theme do to the general tab of the theme config and uncheck Replace task bar.

Hmm. Might be possible. You just need to change height and width of the column and then change the location of the icons. You will also need to change each page so that the items on them do not overlap the footer.

Same issue. here. I with there was a magnifying glass widget that is launched instead of the default alarm screen.. Perhaps a menu in Throttle could toggle the options? :cool:

You would have to make changes to the xml. There is no config or option built in to the theme to make this kind of change.

For some reason I cannot scroll over to see my other config setting.
All that is accessable are "Info", "General", "Home", & "Programs". When landscaped I can get to "Messages". Scrolling or using the arrows keys still will not allow me to view the other options.

This issue doesn't occur with v0.9.5

1. Same incompatibility here with HDIV .
The weird thing is that TL 0.96 does seem to load as a standalone app - it just refuses to start as a today plugin.
In standalone mode it is configurable from within, however loading the (external) Throttle config utility crashes the program and prevents loading either until softreset.

Reinstallation of either flashplayer7 or .NetCF 3.5 does not seem to clear up the problem.

Reflash or Hardreset and reinstalling TL0.96 do not result in any other outcome either.

Works fine on HDIII, so might it be an OS incompatibility (since HDIV is a WM6.5 Hybrid)?

From my experience when TL is installed on storage card, every time the device wakes up the plugin restarts. This happens on eten glofiish X600.

I have downloaded the TL/TF3D rom on my omnia. After setting the configurations for music tab to S2P (already loaded n working), I get a complete blank when I tab on the music icon. As for the internet (change internet n internet_land files to opera), the pictures appear (globe, etc) but tapping on it nothing opens. What should I check to make it work.

I've noticed that my self... graphics.dll is older version in ThrottleLauncher than in ThrottleLock... and they are incompatible :(.... I'll try to release a ThrottleLauncher version with the updated dll... Sorry for the inconvenience...

i have it installed, and the config seems to run ok, but when i tell it to run through throttletoday, it goes all slow, all the toolbars are still there nd it just looks like it has only half loaded, even with the defult theme, and everything goes really laggy.

i have downloaded a theme i liked, and it just loads without a background and will all my toolbars still over the theme

any idea's for help please, i would love to get this running properly and smoothly, as im getting sick of my normal theme

Hi!

first of all ensure all other today plugins are disabled before doing anything. Then go to ThrottleConfig and select the Tf3D theme. Click the "advanced" button and check the height of the plugin. For a diamond it must be 542, if it's not set it to that size. Then click on reset plugin... If it goes slow try a soft reset ;)

1) I don't know if there's a way to do this... If there's and exe or an lnk for that then you can link it from an icon.
2) I think it's with fview.exe... but I'm not sure.
3) Same than above.... I think you can do it with a MortScript... I've tried using sendkeys in the Android theme header, check it there and try to port it to the iphone xml...
4) Sure, just edit the xml ;).

Mmmmm.... you can check them in home.xml probably... It should be on a list of <icons...> or <text...> in the exec attribute...

It is at the end of home.xml. Just look for ".lnk" ".mscr" or ".exe" and chage to any applet you want to launch. You need to change path link or executable if necesary.
Sorry there isn't an easier way to do it but once you understand xml logic it becomes very easy.

Hi! thanks for your great work. but I found some small bugs using it on my Omnia (with a Portuguese ROM) that you might like to know:

1. In the configuration screen, if the tabs are too many to fit on screen It's not possible to access them. (for example: to configure the weather in the TouchFlo3d skin I have to be in Landscape and I cant access any of the next tabs).

2. The "Manilla" scroll bar works very well but it disapears if I touch twice in any tab and I can only get it back reloading Throttle Launcher.

Appart from that, great software.

I have problem 2 also. No matter .netCF20 or 3.5. It is the only problem :(

Whilst we have Jaime's attention, I have a GSmart question too! I installed GSmart a few months back and used it to understand how the xml files worked. So ,eventually, I came up with my own custom theme so went to delete GSmart to free up some memory.
Curiously my theme then stopped working correctly and I had to reinstall GSmart to get it going again. I thought I may have had a GSmart link in one of my xmls but I checked and there is none (in fact I can delete the GSmart theme from throttle launcher and mine works fine.)
I am assume it must be something installed in the registry by GSmart? Incidentally I have my own custom analogue clock skin I open through the Widgets link. What am I missing?

Here it is. Also the clock (digital-no flash) has gone away. Trying to run Throttleconfig.exe produces an error. The only solution is reload the plugin through Start>Settings>Today

Battery comsumption has been reduced a lot since 0.9.5 (and this one is also better than 0.9.6). I don't know how it does it compared with Pointui Home 2.... I can tell you that in my device (Omnia i900) the battery last almost as much as without using ThrottleLauncher ;). Let me know how it works if you decide to give it a try.

About your questions, in the config dialog you have to set the weather for your location in accuweather format. To do that search here for your City, Country

After finding it look the loccode in the URL of the browser, that's the code ;).

Mmmm... you can do that by xml tweaking:

By using this you can get the currrent email account (I think it will reflect the one with the last email)
#$SystemState,MessagingLastEmailAccountName#

By using something like this
path="#$THEME_BASE#\Icons\emailColor#$SystemState,Messag ingLastEmailAccountName,map,[MyMailAccount-red|default-black]#.png"

on an icon you can paint either emailColorred.png or emailColorblack.png depending of the last mail account...

I will try to implement this on a further release of the theme.

For the lines, note that the email only shows the subject... If you want to show more lines, the only thing to do is increasing the text height of the subjet ;).

I don't have any issues with this on my device. Things scroll and look great. perhaps you need to change the settings for TL to work better on your phone.

My battery lasts even more with TL than with Samsung Widgets interface ;).

Just copy and paste it to \Program Files\ThrottleLauncher\ and do a soft reset and its all good to go...

It's working now, thanks. One question - is there any way to make the default theme to eat less RAM? My Hermes is not too good with free RAM - after hard reset there is about 30 MB, and with all the programs running in the background(Phone Suite, MortScript, AEButton+ etc.) it's about 26 MB without any today plugin active. When I'm using plugins HTC Home + Homescreen++ + SPB Phone Suite + TodayAgenda, I have about 21-22 MB free, and it's not going lower than that. With TL I get 18-19, after some time it goes to 12-14 MB, and that's not enough for NetFront or Opera browsers... I already disabled tabs that I don't need - contacts, music, pictures etc.

they should be inside the ThrottleLauncher folder... If they are not then probably something has go wrong with the installation of like BlazingWolf said you have not selected a theme in ThrottleConfig...

... Weird... Try disabling the plugin, then remove the apps.xml file that's inside the appDB folder. Then enable the plugin again. If that doesn't work maybe you have some kind of "weird shortcut" in your programs folder. Try disabling all the apps in the Apps tab of ThrottleConfig...

Do you have MortScripts installed? I think it's a requisite for that theme to work properly... I woudn't be difficut to edit the home.xml file and send the icons to anything else you want ;).

Thanks for the new release. Definitely, it is faster in everything (compared to 0.95, didn't use 0.96), config, use etc. On the other hand, it is still too slow for my Kaiser, so decided not to use it.

I have an HTC Touch 201mhz device with Throttle Launcher and TouchFlo3d theme with all that's listed in my signature plus games and I have no problems with it. There are 2 variables that effect whether or not you have problems, the first being operator error and the second being the particular device. Not all software is going to work the same on all devices. That's why there are so many options and opinions I guess.

don't get me wrong kbywg, I only installed it on my samsung i780, not on my HTC Prophet (qtek s200), which is basically the same thing as your htc touch. TL performs a lot slower on the 624Mhz cpu and not as smooth as manila2d on the qtek (200mhz). I haven't tried m2d on my i780 (yet) because of the great amount of files that get installed into \windows. I like to maintain a clean device..

I liked the M2D on my S200, so wanted to see if this was possible on the i780 as well, and that's how I ended up with throttlelauncher.

Also note that my remarks were only intended to be constructive, to get a better final product.

Man, this is the EXACT thing I attempted to describe a few posts back. At first I thought it had something to do with its interaction with Slide 2 Unlock, but it still does it even after remove S2U from my phone.

Wich exactly do you experience to work slow? Page changing? scrolling? Note that it may take from 10 to 30 secconds for TL to completly startup (before it will be responsive but not as fast as after that time).

Have you tried any of the other themes?

Two issues tho:
-On my touch pro (VGA) I found the default screen is not resized properly.
-On IPhone Theme there is little pause on flipping (but still fast) if this gone it will be perfect.

It will not be shareware ;). The license system is meant to:
- avoid people from selling the app (like has happened to A_C with his S2 series) in other comercial products. Note that thaks to throttlelauncher flexibility you can make it look as different as you want and you will be able to build a full product based on ThrottleLauncher core. I don't want this to happen ;).
- Make the comunity grow. I give people contributing with themes, widgets, icons, etc (or even complete and helpfull feedbacks and good ideas) gold licenses (that are life time).
- Ensure people using throttle at least visit the web once a month (to update the license) or contribute by donating (showing their compromise with ThrottleApps). I've sent licenses for even 1$, wich I think is like paying nothing for the app ;). What ever people find ThrottleApps worth is ok for me.

You're right that the widgets dafult locations are setted for qVGA device... though, as you have already find out, you can move the widgets to place them correctly or even add more or remove them ;). the Light3D theme doesn't have an scrollable footer. It's just a little default functional and simple theme to include built inside throttle so it works out of the box ;). To take out all the juice from Throttle you'll need to add another theme like Tf3D one... ;)

one bug i had was i had to unintsall and reinstall TL because the bottom row of icons moved itself to right over my clock. i tried to soft reset and turn TL on and off under Today settings but no luck.

also i don't seem to have landscape. is this normal for the theme that comes with TL (i think it's called light3d)

what does the gears do. it's the icon thats between the calendar and the home icon on the bottom row.

how do i set weather to my home town. i live in Wilmington, DE USA 19805

I'm glad you're enjoying TL.

The problem with the footer probably was a change in the height o fthe plugin... it's weird though. If you see that hapening again, open ThrottleConfig and click in advanced, then click on the full button (uncheck hide bottom bar if you don't want to hide the soft keys). Then reload the plugin... That should fix it ;).

About LS support, You're right... The Ligth3D theme does not currently support LS mode... You can try the Touchflo3D theme that does include LS ;). Though I've to do some updates over it to make it take advantage of all the 1.0 benefits ;).

The gears icon is meant to go to the page containing embeded today pluygins. You can embed today plugin by opening the config dialog (the last option of the home slide panel) and going to the plugins tab. There you can select your today plugins and change their order if you want.

The weather must be something like Wilmington, USA like in the following URL.

Someone else tried on this phone? I didn't see many speed improvement since the first releases of TL so maybe this is due to the driver problem of the phone? :/

I'm sorry to say that Throttle Launcher 1.0 is also extremely slow to the point of being unusable on my HTC Kaiser. The device details are in my signature. It seems that most users are having a very good experience of TL 1.0 but I suspect that the problems I have had are something to do with the poor 2D drivers for the Kaiser. I noticed that a Polaris user had similar problems.

The plug in was very slow to respond and often it was difficult to select the right tab because what was happening on the screen was over a second behind what you were doing with your finger or stylus.

If I have time I'll try it again with the "video running in background" fix for the drivers and see if this makes a difference. My wife has a Touch Dual or Nike and I'll see if I can persuade her to test it on her phone. If any Kaiser users do get it running well on their phone, could you please post your ROM details and anything else relevant to your device.

First of all i think that this is an AWESOME app and today screen replacement! I have been having a couple of problems though with the 1.0 release.

The Light3d theme doesnt work at all for me. When ever i load it up, i get an error that says "Skin file on path Program files/ThrottleLauncher/setups/Light3D/skins/footer was not found or corrupt. Please check or reinstall your setupSystem.IO.FileNotFoundException: An error message cannot be displayed because an optional resource assembly containing it cannot be found at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError" then it says RESIZE and the image looks jumbled up, then my phone freezes and i have to soft reset. I have tried loading different themes such as the iphone 1 and android 1 and they load up but i cant move any of the widgets and they are painfully slow. Also, whenever i try to load a wallpaper it only takes up a small part in the middle of the screen (I have tried many different resolutions for wallpapers including vga res, wvga res and 640x640 res). I never had a problem with throttle launcher when i used previous versions and am just wondering if maybe i need to change settings or something to get it to work.

To everyone:

Note that ThrottleLauncher may be a little bit slow at the begining. Specially when you first open pages (showing the loading ... message). After the first load of the page, page changing must be near automatic.

If you still find page changing slow you can try to go to the settings tab of ThrottleConfig and set backbuffer policy to 10. Then reload the plugin. You should see a great improvement, not in the first load of a page, but the rest.

Also Throttle takes some time to startup, it will be responsive till the very begining but not as much as after 20 - 30 secconds after the startup.

TL is always very slow on my polaris :(
Someone else tried on this phone? I didn't see many speed improvement since the first releases of TL so maybe this is due to the driver problem of the phone? :/

Ok, I see that your issue is with the footer, is this OK? Does the scrolling on the programs page for example work smooth. If the problem is with the footer, you should try to set the footer transparency to none. You can do this in the ConfigDialog (click the config button on ThrottleConfig when ThouchFlo3D is selected) in the general tab.

I'll try to do some reasearching on what could be happening... I'll check SPB Benchmark results for Kaiser and Polaris and check differences with my both testing devices (Herald and Omnia, both working smooth, specially omnia ofcourse).

First of all i think that this is an AWESOME app and today screen replacement! I have been having a couple of problems though with the 1.0 release.

The Light3d theme doesnt work at all for me. When ever i load it up, i get an error that says "Skin file on path Program files/ThrottleLauncher/setups/Light3D/skins/footer was not found or corrupt. Please check or reinstall your setupSystem.IO.FileNotFoundException: An error message cannot be displayed because an optional resource assembly containing it cannot be found at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError" then it says RESIZE and the image looks jumbled up, then my phone freezes and i have to soft reset. I have tried loading different themes such as the iphone 1 and android 1 and they load up but i cant move any of the widgets and they are painfully slow. Also, whenever i try to load a wallpaper it only takes up a small part in the middle of the screen (I have tried many different resolutions for wallpapers including vga res, wvga res and 640x640 res). I never had a problem with throttle launcher when i used previous versions and am just wondering if maybe i need to change settings or something to get it to work.

*I have an Alltel touch pro with stock rom*

Mmmm... that's a weird bug... My only guess is that for some reason the theme has not been installed properly. Could you please check that the file "/Program files/ThrottleLauncher/setups/Light3D/skins/footer/skin.xml" does exist?

Eitherway, please try reinstalling the 1.0 CAB file. Also ensure that you have deselected every other today plugin. Oh, you're using ThrottleToday right? Not the ThrottleLauncher app...

thanks for the report. Have you deselected the Touchflo3D today plugin? If not, please uncheck it on Today and softreset. Then check ThrottleToday as today plugin and see if it works faster... I think TF3D can interfer in speed...

If you have already unchecked TF3D and it's still slow, please tell me what exactly do you find sluggish (the scrolling, the page changing, etc). Also try the tricks at the begining of the post to see if it improves the speed. Playing with the transparency settings may also help...

The DIB's are specially slower :( (they are used for transparency). I can try to improve this on further releases though 13.4 fps is a really low value :(...

On the other hand Polaris seems to have better specs so theorically it has to work smooth there... (similar to how it works on my herald, I guess)

Just tried those steps, its not made any noticeable difference. It seems be slowest when on the BBStorm theme you press the home button then try and scroll up and down although its pretty unresponsive to button presses almost everywhere.

Sorry to hear that :(. It's probably related with the specs shown in drawing DIB's... I'll take that in account for further releases.. I've to grab a diamond to test ;).

I'm sorry to say that Throttle Launcher 1.0 is also extremely slow to the point of being unusable on my HTC Kaiser. The device details are in my signature. It seems that most users are having a very good experience of TL 1.0 but I suspect that the problems I have had are something to do with the poor 2D drivers for the Kaiser. I noticed that a Polaris user had similar problems.

The plug in was very slow to respond and often it was difficult to select the right tab because what was happening on the screen was over a second behind what you were doing with your finger or stylus.

If I have time I'll try it again with the "video running in background" fix for the drivers and see if this makes a difference. My wife has a Touch Dual or Nike and I'll see if I can persuade her to test it on her phone. If any Kaiser users do get it running well on their phone, could you please post your ROM details and anything else relevant to your device.

- hide task bar off
- footer transparency disabled
- real transparency enabled and fake one disabled
- fps 14
- fade on

I hope you can solve your issues. If you need more info, just ask for it.

I'm just having a little problem. With the Android theme, each time I bring up the tab for the widgets, it gets bigger. I have to scroll down for like 3-4 minutes to get to the second widget now, help.... besides that, I love it.

Not currently, sorry... ThrottleLauncher takes the info stored by the system in the registry... and it only stores the next upcomming appointment... Although I have something in mind to short this for further releases ;).

BBStorm theme doesn't support widgets. Widgets must be specifically supported by the theme. Light3D theme does support them tough... Wich device are you using? If using wqVGA or wVGA maybe you can tweak the home.xml file to make the next appointment widgets appear ;).

Sorry for the delay... You can try to do this in the home.xml of the BBStorm theme:

Change
<row name="blank" height="-180" layout="free"/>

For:
<row name="blank" height="-180" layout="rows">
<widget name="YOURWIDGETNAME"/>
</row>


Change YOURWIDGETNAME for the widget name you want to be shown in the home ;).

I'm back to give more details on my issues! Sorry to have been imprecise in my previous post ^^

I'll give my opinion only about the touchFlo 3D theme because it was the one I'm interested in.

So : yes, I have slownesses particularly with the footer. It's difficult to aim at the correct section. If I make slow movements it look smooth but if I go faster I have a delay between my finger and the effective movement :/
I also have the problem, in lesser way, with the scrolling on the application page.
I deactivated all the transparency options, it's better but it's not enough for me. I think all people have different degrees of acceptance but for me it's not enough smooth for a day to day usage :(
I like your work, particularly for the customization possibilities, and I've tried all the versions since the beginning of the development but I think the driver problem of the Polaris is a barrier to enjoy completely your app...

I will look further for the future releases, but don't focus on this problem if it exist only with this phone.

Hoping someone can help me. I would like to simply add a second Widget page to the TouchFlo theme. I'm not a programmer but thought I could make sense of the config.xml file. I have spent two nights hacking it to what I thought would work, but when I reload the theme, it gives me errors in the config.xml file and I have to keep restoring my backup copy to get Throttle Launcher to load again. I have given up. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but I don't know what it is. Lacking programing skills is not helping me. Not a biggie, but if someone had some help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
