Ok, I have stopped it updating when roaming or automatically, BUT is there away to get it to update while connected by USB and activSync? So I arent using any data over GPRS and consequenty arent charged :)
Also for those of you who want to syc and retreive SMS's from your phone I found this today, works a treat and is free (sorry if you knw already) just update .net to 3.5
