View Full Version : [October 18] TouchFLO 2D dialer VGA development thread [Test 6][canceled for now]

Hi dearest fellow XDA community!
Since I thought it wouldn't be practical to have both the VGA and QVGA Touchflo 2D dialer in one thread I thought I'll open a new one, only VGA in this one.
This is the current progress I've made:
http://i37.tinypic.com/fau0zd.pnghttp://i37.tinypic.com/2elwc1s.pnghttp://i37.tinypic.com/2evb5ag.png
As some of you know I've made several dialpad skins, though lately more and more people buy a device like the Touch Diamond or Pro wich features a VGA screen. My QVGA skins/dialer won't work on VGA devices so the next thing was inevitable, people wanted the dialer in VGA.
The problem with that is that I currently don't own a VGA device thus making testing hard/impossible for me to do. That's why I need the community, yes I need YOU! for the U.S. Army xD
That means I wan't you to test out if the graphics are looking nice and if there are any glitches. I am not able to help with technical problems only graphical, sorry for that.
fards here from xda just donated his old HTC Universal to me so next week I hope I'm able to test some VGA! thanks fards!
In this thread I will keep you posted about updates through this code field, it will indicate what is included in the current test version. I'll also keep a small changelog.
what's in the current version:
| Portrait | Landscape
Main Dialpad | done |
Incoming | done |
Outgoing | done |
Videocalling | |
History | |
Save to Contacts | done |
-->latest version (http://www.filesavr.com/pdgtouchflo2ddialervgatest6)<--
Version tracker:
Test 6: redesigned the main dialpad, added some missing icons in the progress screen (conference and swap), skinned the save to contacts dialog and added default pictures for people without a contact picture.
If someone is able to give me some screenshots of the videocalling screen I can start skinning that! Please supply them to me in a good quality (mymobiler -> save screen as bmp)
as usual feel free to:

oh yeah, please leave me a note before placing my work on your blog or web/warez site!

its already on QVGA. although not the exact same.
@paul:
I know you said you cannot help with any technical problems, I want to ask if these .cabs are just replacing the dialer images or more?
This is because there are indeed technical issues regarding Test5 which caused me to uninstall. But if these .cabs are only replacing the dialer images then I could pin point whats the problem more easily.
Note to others, just want to know if anybody else are having the same issues.
-After installing dialer, flip to mute isn't working.
-After receiving/making phone calls the dialer stays open
- last dialed number randomly pops open on the dialer at times.
THanks for you hard work PAUL!

I second that. Although I like the dialer better on the QVGA version that's already out, the incoming caller ID screen is VERY SEXY

another bug found. Think it should be classed as a Graphical bug because test5 was fine.
anyways when the dialer is summoned, the bottom central SIP graphic is garbled and messy. nothing like what your demo above shows.
But either way its a very good dialer!
EDIT::
fixed with a softie.
Strange because i soft reset after installing the dialer.
So 2x Softies if you have similar to what i wrote above :)
THanks again!

What does that cab do john?
Anyway what I wanted to announce is that I won't continue skinning the VGA version until I have my own VGA device. It's just too much of a hassle to let you test it for me. Fards has sent me his old universal by mail yesterday and I expect it to be in my hands around monday or tuesday, so then I will continue skinning for VGA.
I could do a port to qvga and release V1.1 of the qvga version so I'll might do that in the meantime.
No updates today, I have to work and my girlfriend just got home from holiday so I'm out tonight.
Thanks,
Paul
ps: When I have my own device I will look for a better Touch Diamond dialer. The one I'm currently using isn't bugfree. So If you want something to do just find a good working cab. (one without the keyboard bug and with videocall in the main dialpad instead of contacts) If you find that, it would be just great!

That looks really sexy =) Oh, one question though is this for Tf2D or can I use this with the default tf3d, too ?
Thanks an advance ^__^

The dialer skin is independant of TF3D so yes, it can work. It's called TF2D probably cos the look and feel is inspired by TF2D.

nice neat and clean. but I think it is consuming too much RAM on my device (Eten X800). I tried uninstalling it but it wont. When I uninstall it waits quite a while and says "some parts weren't removed do you want to remove from prog list" ... .. when I soft reset it is still there.
any advice ?

Luckily I did a backup just before installing this dialer.
Uninstallation could take a very-very long time.
It uses ~350 images wich have to be deleted from the windows folder.
The opal dialer which uses 'just' 250 images took around 10-15 minutes to uninstall from my device.
..Just give it some time èh

I don't have any time at the moment, sorry.
I'm in the middle of studying for a test week at school.
So don't expect much from me until the end of next week, I'll might squeeze in some extra hours since my girlfriend also has to learn and won't have time for me xD
So at the end of next week, it's skinning time :D
Also, fards Universal that was donated to me is working great!
But I might have the oppurtunity to buy a Touch Diamond next week so that would help me a lot since I want the dialer to get finished then also! Haha!
I'll keep you updated on any progress, don't worry ;)

get a process viewer and terminate cprog.exe

Absolutely beautiful dialer skin! I couldn't see any obvious problems with it, the incoming call screen worked really nicely too on my VGA Eten X500+. Does anyone know how to get rid of the block of text above the dialer, where it shows your contacts, and recent calls and stuff? It's on the default dialer too which is a bit unsightly to me.
Keep up the amazing work!

Paul,
Keep up the good work. I just loaded the cab on a Sprint CDMA Tocuh Pro. I know that you are not going to work on the VGA yet but a couple of small comments:
1) after you dial a call 'Calendar' comes up where 'Contacts' should be during the in-call screen
-- when the dial times out and comes back up, it goes back to 'Contacts'
2) in landscape mode the dial buttons come up white not blue
3) In landscape mode the in-call buttons also come up white not blue
4) when you select keypad when the in-call screen is up there is a white 'holo' or border that could be a different color
Otherwise this is great. I will continue to use it and let you know what I find

Using test 6 right now on my diamond with updated orange stock rom (1.93.405.1 WWE) and its working great!
Just a few minor issues tho:
Keypad - When you have an active phone call and you bring up the keypad, there is a white box/background around it. It doesnt really affect the function but it ruins the look you have going right now.
Moving Icon - Also, while dialing (once you dialed and pressed the phone key) there are annoying icons on the top right hand corner which seem to flicker and move to random positions.....don't know what or how you want to fix that.
Ringing - When I get a phone call, the phone will keep on ringing/vibrating even after I pressed the answer key until the call actually connects. I dont know if this is due to a lag in the software or the way the diamond is programmed. Is there no way in which you can make the phone stop ringing/vibrating once the answer key is pressed?
Even tho there are some bugs, Im really liking this dialer!! Great work!

first off, Paul, thanks for working on this VGA dialer. Am a huge fan of your minimal dialers (QVGA)
Couple of things (for Sprint's Touch PRO) CDMA:
1) Contact pictures don't line up with the photo frame while in call.
2) WinMo's native bottom bar merges with the keypad "button" on the bottom of the screen in call. During a call I pressed for the keypad to come up and got the keyboard instead.
Looking forward to your next test version.

Hi pauldgroot. Your dialer looks just great on my Advantage (Athena) x7510 5inch screen. Unfortunately as the Advantage has no buttons then without attaching the keyboard there is no way to send a call or end it.
Is there any possibility that you could add the send and end buttons to your dialer?
Thank you for all your work for the forum.

I am finding the skin to work great for Alltel touch pro and it answers 1 ring faster than the manila dialer but a big issue is that it alters the settings dialog. It adds the fixed and broadcast options and deletes the settings options therefore losing the location setting, network service etc etc dialogs. I am assuming it is because this is originally for GSM although i used paul's dialer on my mogul in the past and i dont recall these settings being deleted. Can CDMA users trying this dialer confirm that their settings are or arent altered. I found I had to hard reset to get them back as even reverting back to the windows stock did not bring them back although I forgot to try uninstalling the cab which might have corrected it...

After reading the post about the Sprint Touch Pro from bruceo, I checked mine and the Phone settings are basically gone! When I go to the Phone Setting (Settings/Personal/Phone/More), there is now a Fixed Dial buttion and not a list of Local Settings/TTY/Roaming/etc. When I hit the Settings button it says the SIM is busy and to try again later. A CDMA phone does not have a sim card!
Using the simple 'Remove Programs' in Cofig removes the Dialer and restores the correct config settings stuff . . . but then you are (now I am) stuck with an ugly dialer . . .
Paul! Help . . . .

If you read the post above yours, it says that it does not work correctly on the Sprint Touch Pro which is CDMA! It also says that you can go to Remove Programs in Settings and remove the application. Everything comes back so your phone is not 'screwed-up'. The phone works, the settings are set; it is just the screens that changed. If you were to go into the Registry, you could probably manually set the settings . . .
These guys work hard and for the most part for free! I did not see anything that helped in your post, just a big victim statement that had already been solved before you started whining

http://i37.tinypic.com/fau0zd.pnghttp://i37.tinypic.com/2elwc1s.pnghttp://i37.tinypic.com/2evb5ag.png

-->latest version (http://www.filesavr.com/pdgtouchflo2ddialervgatest6)<--
Version tracker:
Test 6: redesigned the main dialpad, added some missing icons in the progress screen (conference and swap), skinned the save to contacts dialog and added default pictures for people without a contact picture.
If someone is able to give me some screenshots of the videocalling screen I can start skinning that! Please supply them to me in a good quality (mymobiler -> save screen as bmp)
as usual feel free to:

oh yeah, please leave me a note before placing my work on your blog or web/warez site!

Hello Paul,
I was planning to design a VGA dialer by using a ".dll" for modifying the dialogs, and got to your thread. I was not interested in the manila dialer, but I wanted to use 'EtPhone.dll' only.
All versions of "EtPhone.dll" found in your thread didn't work for me, but I found it somewhere else, and modifed it for VGA resolution ( dialogs 22509 & 22500). Everything works fine except a small issue. The graphics for "Mute" , "Speaker" "Hold", etc. don't change.
Attached two images, one for the dialer(works fine) and for Progress( problem).
Could you recommend a solution for this issue ?
Thanks in advance...
cheers,
