Hello,
My htc tytn works very slow and with errors with the cooked versions.
I am new to wondows mobile.
How do I get the latest official windows mobile without all the cooked applications?

There is no "Official" WM6.1. Its been ported from later HTC models. HTC stopped supporting the Hermes about 6 months or more ago and only ever officially made WM06 for it.
You will need to stay with cooked roms to keep it but you should look for the "naked" roms - OS only, no 3rd party apps.

What are some of the more popular "naked" rom/s? :o

Thank you, FileFixer for link. :)

how "stable" is "stable"? I mean, i typically soft-reset two or three times a day with official HTC wm6 release. ROM upgrades average about the same? worse? better? Is it the same kind of stability issues i already have? freezes? screen display gets garbled?

2 or 3 times a day thats so inconsiderate of these people to make you pull the stylus out and press the reset button, or just click the screen twice lol.

Its part of life when you have a ppc, i must reset mine 6-8 times a day but its not a big problem. Install a naked rom and dont install any apps and see how it flys along

Blame the app makers not the rom cookers or htc to that mind,

Eh mine still flies even with HTC Home, spb phone suite, mobile shell, opera 8.5, skyfire, and PIE and exchange and everything else

I know what you mean about blaming the apps and htc. Certain apps would constantly make my phone crash and I've since uninstalled. One of the biggest offenders I've found was WisBar. Made my phone go crazy. Anyone else out there experience that? Or other apps that fit the description?

However, 6-8 resets is an awful lot. The only reason I want to upgrade to 6.1 is for the threaded tracking SMS. Are there any apps out there that offer that before i take the plunge and use a cooked ROM?

I also wouldn't mind getting rid of all that bloatware in at&t's ROM has that's hogging my internal memory.

:D:D:D

I think you'll find that using a cooked rom will in fact speed up your phone as the bloatware uses a large amount of ram. I personally like the BS roms as most chefs add what is needed anyway. I like to keep some storage space on my Hermes and using the BS roms does that.
With the NBS roms I've used I can't put the core apps I like on.

However, if you want to keep the rom you've got, there isa cab file for threaded sms. Do a search and you should find it...

Have an 8525 & would like to put WM 6.1 on it. What's the best ROM for this version of the Hermes for speed & stability?

At the moment I'm liking PDACorner V27. Seems pretty stable and I've thrown a few things at it that HRed the other roms I've tried. I also like the Halloween rom V10 but I tend to find the fonts are TINY.... Even when I alter the font to the largest.

The truth is, each rom is a personal choice and what is good for me may not be for you. This is all personal preference....

Cheers...:D

rfreddy, You need to research....

Wrong rom= BRICK... Kaiser rom (Tytn II) is not compatible with a Hermes UNLESS its ported... Do some research, port it yourself or maybe ask the chef if he might might port it across (don't hold your breath though)...

You can use nuefonts to easily put it back to the tahoma font. I haven't cared for any of the calibri fonts, especially if you use landscape mode very much, then it looks like crap!
