Portover try of the TouchFLO 2d QVGA build to VGA devices with a wholly redrawn image set and some usefull aditions.

Credits
All credits go to the TouchFlo2d developers (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173), this is only a port of it so please express your gratitude to them.

-------------------------

TouchFlo2D VGA
[2008-10-06] - Ver 0.1.3
Fixes:
- People contacts are shown and working correctly. THANKS LePocketPc!
- Favorite applications, map locations, internet bookmarks also fixed with the LePocketPc's modification so only thing to fix are the thumbnails in the Photo tab.

Updates:
- All images (except photo frames) have been redrawn

[2008-10-02] - Ver 0.1.2
Updates:
- Just made it compatible with latest Manila2d_1.00_1819.2926.CAB

[2008-10-02] - Ver 0.1.1
Images:
- Home, Messages, Email, Internet, Photos (except frames), Music, Weather (only the little arrows), Map, Settings, Programs have all new images and I'm working on the others too but I have to redraw everything as the exported images from the Diamond phone are very bad :(
- Clock replaced wiht big digital one as the analog one can't be enlarged as it seems.

[2008-09-24] - Ver 0.1
Done:
- All images have been resized
- HTCHomeSettings.xml has been rewritten so almost every tab works as it should

-------------------------

Not Working yet
- Photos & Videos, unfortunately it seems the area to fill out with the image can't be resized from the xml file so another change may be needed in the .exe file

IMPORTANT: please note this is only the main TouchFlo2d program, I didn't look in the other programs (like youtube) and addons that are available for the TouchFlo2d QVGA version, and won't do till first this part of the project is done.

-------------------------

Instalations / Download
To install please follow the steps found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173

and after you have everything up and running (even in the little left corner of your screen but working) then go to "Start->Settings->Today->Items" and uncheck "TouchFlo" press OK then download this zip file and extract the content to \Windows\ directory on your device.

TouchFlo2D VGA - Ver. 0.1.3
http://rapidshare.com/files/151382270/TouchFlo2dVGA-0.1.3.zip.html

Then go back to "Start->Settings->Today->Items" and check "TouchFlo" again press ok and the full resolution TouchFlo should appear.

IMPORTANT: It seems with the latest Manila2d release (1.00...) the files are installed in read only state so you won't be able to overwrite the files unless you remove the Read only state from the files which are all files in \Windows directory starting with HH_..... and HTCHomeSettings.xml and then all files in \Windows\ManilaGFX

-------------------------

Additions to TouchFlo2D VGA
[2008-10-03] - Ver 0.1
Additions:
- Added new images for internet tab links (Youtube, Google, Shoutcast, Ebay, Flickr, Rss)
- Added 6 links to the Internet tab in the following order: Google, YouTube (still to youtube.exe), Shoutcast, Flickr, RSS (google reader/i), eBay

-------------------------

Instalations / Download
Just download the cab file below and install on your device.

TouchFlo2d VGA Additions - Ver. 0.1

IMPORTANT: please turn of TouchFLO at the today items before installing this addon.

I'd really like this, but I'll wait for the updated images images, however I'm not so sure if touchflo2d can be uninstalled so the only way to take it off is to a hard reset. but waiting on your update would give it a go and help out as much as i can.

well well... great job buddy... I've found some bugs.
1.Lunch Browser picture doesnt show (The globe one)
2.And when I go to music tab the music picture which is a note crashes and half down looks corrupted
3.Album tab doesnt show the pictures fully and shows them like QVGA.

BTW tnx for great job... if u want i can make a cab for this so were gonna have a real XDA-Team M2D VGA... ;)

Cheers. Hirad

Thanks for testing, point 1 and 2 are known as it is written in the 'Not working' list in the first post, but regarding the music tab I don't think it has something to do with the VGA changes but till someone cant test it on a QVGA device with all the same files/addons installed I cant say for sure but yes, I noticed the problem too but then launched the player separately and then everything worked just fine so thats why I think it may be a TouchFlo 2d bug and not a theming one.

Oooo, almost forgot, regarding the cab, I think there is no need for it for now but when this gets really done with every real pictures and all bugs fixed it will be a good idea.

Hi Everyone,

I created this separate thread as I don't want to mess around in the orginal TouchFlo2d (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173) thread as it already overhelmed so lets keep things separated and see where we go.

As I mentioned before I would like to try to port the TouchFLO 2d to VGA devices too and I hope others will find it usefull and help me with some things as it isn't as easy as it seems but the first steps look pretty good so lets see the first release:

[2008-09-24] - Ver 0.1
Done:
- All images have been resized
- HTCHomeSettings.xml has been rewritten so almost every tab works as it should

Not Working yet
- Clock is still in QVGA mode as it seems there have to be made some changes in the Manila2d.exe to extend the sizes
- Favorite contacts aren't show at first but you can drag the empty page upward and then the contacts will show up but if you release the screen they will disapear (not sure what the problem could be but will keep looking).
- Internet tab, the big globe image can't be shown but if there is no other way I will revert it back to the original size
- Photos & Videos, unfortunately it seems the area to fill out with the image can't be resized from the xml file so another change may be needed in the .exe file

-------------------------

IMPORTANT: please note this is only the main TouchFlo2d program, I didn't look in the other programs (like youtube) and addons that are available for the TouchFlo2d QVGA version, and won't do till first this part of the project is done.

NOTE1: Images are only scalled from the QVGA version but fortunately I was able to take my hand on a HTC Diamond and extract the images from there so hopefully I will be able to replace the images with the real ones and have sharpy VGA TouchFlo2d soon.

NOTE2: Tests are only done on my device which is a HTC X7510 with the original ROM (no changes at all) but I hope it will work on other HTC VGA devices too.

Hi Guys,

First of all thanks everyone for testing and reporting back, I updated the Not Working list on the first post (please note the sliding images only in QVGA mode is the same bug as the image isn't drawn on the whole screen, so if one fixed the other should work too thats why I didn't add a new entry for that) and added an update for the Non HTC devices as it seems the latest maniala 2d works with non htc devices to so happy testing :)

Regarding the process of this port unfortunately even with the Manila Editor I had to redraw almost every image to have it as I would want it, there are still a lot of images that have to be redrawn but things are getting to look pretty good, if everything goes as planed you should have a new version with new vga images in a few days and yes I plan to add back the original clock (digital) as it seems the analog's clock size can't be changed unless modifying the exe but the digital clock can be so adding back the original clock should solve both problems here :)

HELP is always welcome, the most important thing after the new images are done is I think the bugs and from them the contact one as it is useless right now so any of you could have some inside look into that or at least give me some points where or for what to look to speed up things it would be really appreciated.

Cheers,

I've been playing with this today, had to tweak the xml a bit to get it to fill the screen and get the tab bar to work properly in landscape on my advantage at 96dpi, but good work so far!

Wonder with the contacts if it's possible to reduce it to 6 contacts on the page, as at least on my the bottom row is off the screen to start with when you scroll it.

been testing the photos page and not worked out which it is that changes the image size in yet.
Haven't got album installed.

Hi I've tried several times to copy the contents of the touchfloVGA files to the Windows folder.

I am either missing something or not understanding it properly.
I am copying the files not the folder to the windows folder - tried from sd card and microdrive (7500) and from vista. I can't overwrite any files and i then choose skip and then it is saying its taking 1 day to copy the files over.
The sd card and microdrive copy gives me an error saying i dont have permission to copy - insufficient storage etc when this is not the case.

Dd i just have to copy the folder to the windows directory - have i been trying this wrong?

If not can a cab be made to copy the new files correctly and overwrite the files that are pointless for vga. Thanks.

Hi Guys,

I just updated the first post with new images but just saw that the latest .10 builds placed the pictures in a separate places so I will have to update the zip and will do so soon just let me install the new build as I still use the old 0.08 on my device.

vlad48 sure I need help :) the most important ones would be fixing the bugs, but helping on the images is also welcome (contacts and album frames have to be still done) cos fixing the bugs I will have to do some debugging to see if I can fix things and my daily job is my night job too as I have my own company so time is not really on my side :( not to mention that I got ill in the last two days, so yes, any help is more than welcome.

Will get back to you guys with the new version to make it compatible with 0.10 soon.

It's really a piece of art!!!

The only problem (major I have to say), is the memory consumption.
After playing a while with the tabs, I have free left RAM about 3 to 5MB.

If somehow the memory consumption is going to be managed, I'm gonna make it my default today screen...

Hi

Still having problems... been trying this for days now. I tried removing the read only property on all files beginning with hh using total commander and no luck. the files still are read only. no problems with over-writing the files in the manillaGFX folder.

Please help.

using x7500 with michyprima wm6.1 r5.1 rom

if i want to install it on a diamond, should i install all those cab files in the manila zip downloaded from manila 2d thread?
or i only need to install the manila HTC Patch and Manila 2d.cab
sorry if this has been asked before, i can't seem to find any relevant info...

nvm i got it working, those cabs are not needed, except maybe audio manager, since that's the only tab not working for me
it's eating 18MB of ram, i was expecting it to consume less memory than TF3D
anyway, great port :)

It was just a lovely interface, but I had to get rid of it - as soon as I installed it, my Advantage couldn't sync (error 80004005 to be precise...tried lots of different things to fix - hard reset back to Michy 5.1 and recreated partnerships and everything worked...until I put Touchflo2D back on and got the same error again...) :(

My Advantage doesn't like it :(

Unless somebody has some advice I'll wait awhile to see if future versions will be more compatible with syncing.

This is not a VGA problem, but a Manila 2D general problem. I had exactly the same problem on my Blue Angel which is a 240X320 device. I solved it by using the Xplode version of Manila which is adapted to all devices. I have this version installed on both my Blue Angel and on my Universal which is 640X480.

When I read up on the thread there was a file to delete if you were syncing up with a computer that was running Vista. The XP users were all shaking their heads because the file suggested didn't exist in the /windows directory, but the version motisu suggested doesn't seem to have that problem...

in the xml change <Property name="IDTABWG_WIDGET_RECT" id="0" value="0,0,480,560, 0,0,640,460" />
<Property name="IDTABWG_TITLE_RECT" id="1" value="16,0,448,49, 16,0,618,49" />
<Property name="IDTABWG_TAB_RECT" id="2" value="0,484,480,102, 0,334,640,102" />
for full screen in 96dpi in portait and landscape

I do find that some tabs don't work in landscape, you can work through the rest of the widgets and change sizes on some only, and it rotatesback to portrait when it tries to load a widget that doesn't work.

Hi Guys,

I have an Advantage x7510. I have read the threads and if I may beg your indulgence I would like to confirm my understanding of how to install on my device. The steps seem to be:

1. Hard rest my device to return it to factory state and stock rom
2. Install all of the cabs in the latest version of Manila 2D (currently edition 18) in the order that they appear on page 1 of that post - 10 cabs numbered 1 to 10.
3. When all appears to be working uncheck TouchFlo in Today/Settings/items.
4. Copy VGA ver 0.1.3 to windows directory
5. Reselect TouchFlow in Today settings.

Is there anything that I have missed? Is there any know issues with the fact that for the x7510 owners there is no hard SPL or CID unlocker availabe at present?

Further, is it a matter of experimentation to add further apps/cabs to see what works and what doesn't?

Finally, have you found that RealVGA will work after Manila has been installed?

Thanks for all your great work on possibly the first major improvement for the look of our x7510s - as well as thanks on behalf of other VGA device owners.

I have the same device but I do not install all those cabs as they are all for QVGA devices and we already have some of those applications on our device.

What I do is just simply install
Manila2D_1.00_1819.2926.CAB
and
Task_Manager_2.1_34837.5.cab

(I already have a taskmanager fix but unfortunately cabwiz has a limit for binary data so I will have to find a new way to create cabs but it still works just the icon on the right top is a bit smaller)

so the above cabs are just enough, you can use everything except Audio manager but again that is still in qvga mode and has to be ported too (vlad48 sent me a port of it but I will have to have a look on it as I try to have every image redrawn) but everything else works just fine, we already have commanager so that works too, opera too so I would recommend to only install these two cabs for now till the others get ported and you should be all ok.

Unfortunately I don't really know much about these points as I don't use RealVGA at all, but future applications like IM+, PocketMusic or any other application should work just fine as it does for me but for the rest you have to try it to be sure.

It appears that my install has worked; I used MaNILA 2d Edition 17 as I see 18 has been withdrawn. I have also re-installed RealVGA. I have applied the edits as above and get the tabs correctly in landscape in 96 dpi. However, I do prefer to run my device in 128 dpi. With the above edits the lower half of the tabs are hidden. Are there any changes we can make to correct that so that they show properly in 128 dpi?

I also notice that even in 96 dpi when in landscape the third line below the clock is missing; it is there of course in portrait, and people selected do not show up in landscape Are these known issues of Manila itself of matters that can improve over time?

Also, whilst understanding that stuff is limited for VGA do we know of any other color schemes available at present that will work on the x7510 other than the black, and are there any other clock faces available?

Thanks again for the great work.

The third line in that code controls where the tabs sit.
so 484 is the Y position (how far down the screen) the tab sits in portrait.
The 334 value does the same in Landscape

try adjusting those and restart M2D (settings>today>items etc).
Gave up on 128dpi some time ago, so I dont know what you will need to change them to.

To get the lines back in landscape under the clock then you'll have to change the XML relevant to that bit, I've not bothered if with it, so don't know of the top of my head what it is, but have a read through the thread on customizing the HtcHome xml, it's not too bad to work out what you need to change.

Colours you'll have to manually do, either recolour the originals, or upscale the images from what it is you like the look of.

I've a fantastic prog that batch upscales images using all manner of clever ways without making them appear jagged, but doesn't work on PNG files, so I haven't tried doing any of the existing themes, and don't have time to manually do them..

Hi Guys, maybe worth watching this new thread to see if it helps us and with particular interest for our landscape orientated Athena's -

"Manila 2D almost in Landscape" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=435655

In addition - re my issue with the missing lines under the clock in landscape - I'm thinking that I actually need to make the digits smaller so that there is more screen to work with - would you agree? If so is that tweaked in the HTCHomeSettings.xml file or is that a re-draw of the .png clock files themeslves?

robjhellis

Beacuse of the size of the clock and lack of space in landscape I've been trying to recode the HTCHomeSettings.xml so that Alarm, Call History and Calendar all continue to show in Portrait, but only Calendar shows in Landscape. I have atempted to do that by editing the lines for Alarm and Call Hostory by inserting zeros thus: <Property name="IDHMWG_MISSEDCALLBTN_RECT" id="30" value="24,304,456,364, 0,0,0,0" /> but alas it is not working. Can someone tell me hown to do this?

For info I found the tab setting to show correctly in 128 dpi was 323 (changed from 334 for 96 dpi).

I'm not sure what is causing this but when ever I click on email the app closes and sends me right back to the today screen, I have to "click to launch" the app again. any work around for this problem?

ok so i found out it's not the mail application that is giving causing M2D to crash, it's caused by the size of the email. i believe if the email is between 88KB and 99KB, M2D will crash. it's a bit frustrating because my emails are routinely over 100KB.

I also noticed that the sms tab only shows 99 sms even though i have over 1200 sms messages. this also sheds a little light on the reason the email tab crashes manilla 2D when it is trying to open an email with a size 99kb and above

Fully compatible? with what? I tried it on my advantage and it didnt start.

you have to use the correct cab, not the scrwed u one that is on this site.....

try finding the real TF3D cab VGA, its fully compatible with all vga devices as is

lol.....I read this thread and thought, what a joke....and I was wrong

lol, for whoever thinks this is a good idea....How about trying TouchFlo 3D??? It's for VGA and was made for VGA and guess what....IT's BETTER!!! And is fully compatible....how about trying that instead of TF2D....lol

Hey clever guy!
Please donate me some more RAM for my device than I will use TouchFLO 3D instead of TouchFLO 2D VGA...

if i want to install it on a diamond, should i install all those cab files in the manila zip downloaded from manila 2d thread?
or i only need to install the manila HTC Patch and Manila 2d.cab
sorry if this has been asked before, i can't seem to find any relevant info...

i'm interesed in this question... someone can help us??? in first post put this: "IMPORTANT: please note this is only the main TouchFlo2d program, I didn't look in the other programs (like youtube) and addons that are available for the TouchFlo2d QVGA version, and won't do till first this part of the project is done."
in theory we should not install anything...

If you are so sure that this only one, the real TF3D cab VGA is fully compatible, than you probably know where to find it. How about giving us a link. Because we here are spending our time to look around and havent find that only real one yet.

May be is fully compatible, but needs RAM and DRIVERS to have a decent speed.
TF3d? I used it and now id the first process I kill when I start using the Diamond! Slow, lot of memory wasted, WOW effect, noting more!

I'm visiting some old posts and wondered if anyone had come up with a solution to the above problem. I've now installed ver 20 of Manila 2D and wanted to have another go at fixing the above issue. Any ideas? By the way I also posted on this thread under Development and Hacking as it seems posts there don't update this one here.

Happy Thanksgiving!

mpenguin14 has recently added a background changer to his Manilla 2D Customizer, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427392
It currently requires .png files to work, however, I located some VGA Wallpapers collections in .jpeg format which can be resaved in .png format. So finally some color added to our ported Manilla 2D to our Athenas/Advantages in portrait

However, in Landscape the screen is completely blanked out. Does anyone know of a solution for this? I've left a question on the above thread also.

Hi, I have managed to get Manilla 2D working on my E-TEN X500+ and it's working really well so far. I like it!:)

There are still some small glitches regarding the VGA port. Does anybody know where I can find a proper VGA version of the Manilla 2D integrated Audio Manager? Take a look at my screenshots below and you'll see what I mean :)

The 1st screenshot is all fine:) but when I click on the Library button I get the 2nd and 2rd screenshot which are messed up.

I hope someone has a solution for this because I really like this integrated audio feature of Manilla 2D

You can download that Black today skin from here:
(direct link) http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/mirror/DiamondVGA.tsk
(website) http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-htc-diamond-theme.html

Put the file in your My Documents folder on your PDA and select DiamonVGA from Settings > Today

I agree and for all that flash you can accomplish most of it with variuos plugins. I just downloaded Weatherbug and Launcher after deciding to forgo manila 2D, 3d (3d never even loaded for me) and HTC Home too. Actually I'll check out the thread about customizing HTC Home and maybe I'll find a way to be happy with it
