Hi,
I'm running MissedCallReminder on my XDA Zest (ASUS p565 hybrid running WM6.1), and version 1.2.5.2 runs fine. I tried upgrading to 1.3 but I get the following exception:
MissedCallReminder.exe
NullReferenceException
at
Bibliotheek.RegistryServices.GetMissedMMSsFromRegi stry()
at
MyMissedCallReminder.Startup.StartupMissedCallRemi nder()
at MyMissedCallReminder.Startup..ctor()
at MyMissedCallReminder.Startup.Main()
when it tries to start up. I'd really like to try the new features of 1.3. Any idea what's wrong?
Thanks
Adam
It look like you OS does not have the MMS registry key that the program looks for . Could you, ig that is possible, look in teh registry if this key exists: CurrentUser\System\State\Messages\MMS\Unread
The same problem on Omnia but there is no above-mentioned key in the registry. After creating, the program is working properly. But there is still icon on Today screen. Second problem, vibration doesn't work during reminding even the value is set to 11 and vibration test works.

It looks like, it doesn't work with udK's new ROM R6
When i change the settings and close the program this message pops up "unexpected Failure"
Can anyone report the same with udK's WM6.5 R6?
It used to work on udk's WM6.5 R3
Anyway, good work!

I use palm treo 750 (smartphone).
I get normally sound notifications when I have a missed call or an incoming massage. But after dismissing WM6.0 notification (viewing the missed call or text message), sound notification keeps notify me. The only thing I can do is go in settings and "clear all reminders". Is it normal? I tested it having setting "no icon in taskbar" both on and off...

That is not normal behaviour, the program should stop giving notifications if there are no unread sms or missed calls.

hey guys been using the program for a while now but i have ran into some problems. yesterday my phone turned itself off because the battery was low and when i turned the phone back on the app went haywire. it kept issuing the reminder when there was nothing to remind of. so i uninstalled the program. after uninstalling the program i turned my phone off and then back on and when i did it still gave me an error message that it could not start missedcallreminder. anyway i reinstalled the app and now when i apply my settings in the program i cannot open it now and does it show that it is running in the background i have reset my phone each time after installing and uninstalling the app . i have tried this with version 1.3 and 1.2.5 and same behavior.
any help you can give me would be appreciated. my phone is a HTC Diamond

Hi all,
if all goes well i will have a replacement pda by the end of next week. Then I can finally start development of the program again. Next version should have the following:
- Non QVGA screen support
- Multi language support
- Option to stop generating a reminder after x minutes
- Option to stop generating a reminder after x times
and the following bugfixes:
- Option to not give reminder in set timespan is not stored
-The device does not vibrate when the option "General Tone" is used on the Sound tab.
-When "Tone per reminder is used", the program does vibrate.
-Error message when registry key "CurrentUser\System\State\Messages\MMS" is not present and MMS reminder is checked
-Some Touch HD user have reported that they cannot relaunch the program when it is already running.
Request: If users experience this i would be very interested in what the program registry settings are. if you are able to do this could those users please open a registry editor and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MyMissedCallReminder and tell me the value of the key "minimizetotaskbar"

I'm looking forward to the upcoming version. This is a desperately needed app for my touch hd.
I do have one question: does it work with WM6.5? I have Duttys Leo R5 WM6.5 with Manila 2.5 and nothing seems to happen when I install the app. I went to the program files folder and found it. I entered my settings and applied them. But my phone doesn't do anything after I miss calls or messages. So, I assume it does not work with WM6.5???
Keep up the good work. This is a must-have for WM phones. So, I hope it eventually works on my phone.
EDIT:
Okay, I got it to work. I read about the known bugs in your first post. Yup, I had the "General Tone" option checked, and since my phone's ringer was set to vibrate, I wasn't hearing the general tone and due to the bug, the phone was not vibrating. But, now I have the "Tone per reminder" checked and I selected the same notify.wma file for all of them. Now it works fine.
In the Menu button I also checked "No icon in taskbar" (since I am using Manila) and also "start with windows" so it's always ready running.
So, just to confirm, this works fine in WM6.5 with Manila 2.5. Very handy application!
For those who say they can't see it in the Taskbar... make sure you have "No icon in taskbar" checked. You might need to uninstall, then reinstall the program to access it again. But once it is checked to "No icon in taskbar", you can always end it in the Task Manager and restart it from the installation folder.

Great litle program. Looks like it does what you want it to do, and if I could live with the 15min alert for everything would be my choice.
I unfortunately am a network engineer, and use SMS to notify me of device down status, and need SMS to notify me every 2 min. Don't need or want voicemail or missed call reminders.
Just giving feedback not criticism. Just glad someone is working on a small footprint app... THANKS
Notes from post in Topaz forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=569908
looks like low footprint but repeated Voicemail notification even when I did not have voice or voicemail notification on. Only way to turn off the voicemail notification was to actually listen to the voicemail, just acknowledging it would not turn off the alert. Also after opening it up once, have to reboot the phone to get back into the configuration. Not a problem if I was able to turn off the voicemail alerts.

1.3.5 release
Should display in QVGA/VGA/WQCGA/WVGA
bugfix: Option to not give reminder in set timespan is not stored
bugfix: The device does not vibrate when the option "General Tone" is used on the Sound tab.
When "Tone per reminder is used", the program does vibrate.
bugfix: Error message when registry key "CurrentUser\System\State\Messages\MMS" is not present and MMS reminder is checked (please note that thyis currently means that if you have selected MMS reminders the program will ignore this setting if the registry key is not present.)
NOTE: apparantly Omnia devices use the sms count for both SMS as MMS, that means that the program will generate a reminder if SMS reminder is selected. I would like to hear from Omnia users if this is true.

The program creates an entry in the \Windows\Startup folder. you can delete this file manually. (Missedcallreminder.lnk)

I've been looking for this forever! Who would have thought that something that should be included in the o/s would be so elusive? I've tried every notification program I could find, and they either didn't work or did way more than I wanted. Just beep at me if I miss a call, that's all I ever wanted! lol This does the trick. Thank you so much for developing this wonderful program!

Installed 1.3.5 on a Treo Pro (WM 6.1, 320 x 320 screen). Didn't work.
It doesn't display "Main" or "Settings" windows. Only an "About" (I think) info window without any setting buttons. Can't access the lower tabs, I guess it doesn't work on square screens, although the version history info (on first page here) says it should.
Had to install version 1.2.5.2. Still can't see or change Main or Settings tabs, but the initially displayed window when app is loaded is "Main". From there I can at least change minutes and sound.
So I'm using that version and it works, besides the mentioned issues. Thanks.

Regarding the blocked program icon, do you have Touchflo enabled ?
also I would be very interested in what the program registry settings are. if you are able to do this could you please open a registry editor and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MyMissedCallReminder and tell me the value of the key "minimizetotaskbar"

Does it get too complicated to have the program offer different repeat intervals for different events: like repeat ever 5 min for SMS but every 30 min for Email?
And , as long as I'm shooting for the moon, would it be possible to have separate "Do Not Notify" times for different Event, like - Do Not Notify from 11pm to 7AM for Email but allow Notification (and Repeats) for Missed Calls and SMS ?

As requested the Registry value for "minimizetotaskbar" is "True".

Update: Just read earlier threads! Doh...I have set the option to "False" and all is now well :-) I know I could also set the same option from within the app Menu > check "No icon in Taskbar"

Hi, I've been using this app for a few weeks now. It really is great. I have discovered one bug that is well annoying. Namely, the app is reminding me about new unread emails. The trouble is, I have turned off the "missed email reminder", so it certainly shouldn't be reminding me!!
If I have vibrate turn on, the phone will vibrate each time a new email is received and then every x minutes until I read it. I don't have a sound specified for email reminder tone. If I turn off vibrate alert, the phone no longer vibrates, but instead the screen lights up every x minutes instead!
This is running v1.35.
cheers

Hi all,
i have relased a new version of MissedCallReminder.
version 1.4 beta should have significant less cpu usage then version 1.3.5. and also has some other things:
Better square screen support.
The program uses almost no cpu time, only when it is needed, idletime registry option is removed.
bugfix: Reminders are given for a notification even if the notification is not selected in the notifications tab.

Hi,
I'm testing v1.4 on my Touch HD with stock ROM 6.1 (manila v1.3) and works mostly well but there is something wrong with repeat intervals. When device is ON, time between reminders is set to 1min everything seems to be OK, but when screen is turning OFF, this time is around 1min40sec and randomly changing (from 30sec to almost 2min).
Am I the only one with this issue??
Second thing is program relaunching problem - if TF3D is working there is a problem with it but when I'm using Today screen (no manila) opening and relaunching works very good. I think solving this problem is simply turning off manila and then access to program and it's settings.
Best regards for creator!!!

Yes, this option is checked.
i'm not sure if i can do anything about this problem.
If you uncheck this option, MissedCallReminder will wakeup the device to make sure sound and /or vibration commands are immediately processed. If the device is not woken up it depends how the device (or OS version) handles it. on some devices it immediately executes the commands, on other devices it waits untill the device is really "woken up" by for instance by pressing the power button. If your device does not immediately process the commands every time you could try it with the setting unchecked.

After few days of testing I did soft reset and strange error show up:
"The File "MissedCallReminder" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
I didn't change anything on my system. Program doesn't work anymore. Too bad :(

i missed your remark the first time, are you mentioning this because it is not working for your device? the program does accept 0 as a valid LED number on the vibrate tab.

Hi all,
just a heads up that i am currently working on a new version of MissedCallReminder.
this version will (at least) fix the following bugs:
Reminders are given for a notification even if the notification is not selected in the notifications tab. (second attempt :( )
If no reminder between is used the program does not correctly follow the time rule

mb286,
I tried out the MissCallReminder software and noticed one thing I had a question on in the middle of nite last night when it woke me up.
At night, I put my HTC Touch Pro 2 on silent mode. In the middle of the night, I received a text (which is set in WM typically to vibrate and produce a sound, but since I had it on silent it correctly did neither.
However, at the interval set in MissedCallReminder it would vibrate. MissedCallReminder seemed to respect the silent set with respect to the sound but not the vibrate.
Is there any way to get it to respect the silent in terms of the vibrate aspect of the notification in MissedCallReminder as well?
Thank you!

It there something I can do to prevent this?

I've just noticed that the program does not work with HTC Messaging disabled (I use Pocket Outlook for my SMS/MMS). It doesn't seem to recognise that an SMS has been received, although it's working for calls.
It's clearly connected with the fact that the LED notification light doesn't work property with HTC Messaging disabled (although all other SMS notification settings work, such as displaying pop-up screen and vibrate).
It there a possible workaround to allow the program to detect unread SMS directly from Outlook rather than (apparently) through HTC Messaging?

the program looks at the following registry key to determin if a new (unread) sms is present:
\System\State\Messages\SMS\Unread
i have not noticed this on my own device (i also use pocket outlook) or on the emulator images (which do not have HTC specific stuff) ?
just to rule out the obvious, is the sms notification checked ?

Yes the SMS notification box is checked
Just sent myself a text message which triggered the relevant tone, along with the pop-up window and the icon in the taskbar. However the above-mentioned key still reads '0'. This must be the problem. HTC Messaging must still be controlling access to this key despite being disabled for most purposes.
I'm running the stock ROM (2.53 WWE) - presumably this problem would be eliminated if I used a cooked ROM but would rather avoid this for now (I've only had the device for three weeks).

Due to the problem with detecting an unread SMS with HTC Messages disabled, I (reluctantly) tried a commerical alternative, PhoneAlarm. It detects the unread SMS from Outlook so works for everything except the LED.
Is there any way that the relevant registry settings from this app could be imported into MissedCallReminder (MCR)? All I need is for MCR to check Outlook for unread SMS rather than the default HTC registry location.
Thanks in advance if you are able to find the time to do this.

I'll have a look at the program. There might also be a possibility that the program does not use the registry to determin if a unread sms is present. i'll get back on this!

Got the beta of this working fine on my Tilt 2, BUT is there any way to make it start automatically with a soft reset? As it is now, I have to remember to go into the program after a reset or it will not work. I tried copying a shortcut into the Windows\Startup folder and that brings up the dialog upon startup, but I would like it to start transparently without my having to do anything.

You can set this by using Menu - Startup with windows
The application is "only" beta because i have redesigned part of the notification logic. It will leave the beta stage with the next version

Excellent! I have noticed one minor bug. After clicking Apply the app goes away, but the bottom bar with Apply and Menu remains. I make it go away by using the Manila slider to go back to the Home page. No biggie, just thought I'd mention it. Doesn't appear to interfere with anything.

The only minor issue is that it doesnt support .midi tones
It would be grate if next version supported .midi files
