Hello all,

current version is 1.4.1 beta

my own attempt to add the missing "missed call" and "missed sms" reminder to WM 6, WM 6.1 and WM 6.5

the idea here was to keep it simple. the program can vibrate and or generate a chosen sound at a set interval, to notify the user that there are missed calls or unread sms messages. it will wakeup the device if needed to give the notification.

Note: The program has been created and tested on PocketPC phones only. This program might or might not work correctly on Smartphones.

to use:

install the cab on the device or the storage card.
launch the application and set your preferences.
click apply, the program will minimize. it is neccessary to keep the program running to have it generate new reminders, but it only uses the cpu when needed it does not poll every minute or so to see if a notification came in.

hope that someone will find this usefull :)

The program currently offers the following:
missed notification for missed call/ sms / mms and e-mail
No reminder when call is in progress
Option to set sound per reminder type (the sounds will,if needed, be generated all at once for the moment, this could be changed in the future)
option to "minimize to taskbar" or "minimize and hide"
Lock screen on phone call connect (I am using this myself and decided to keep it in. it locks the screen using the windows lock when a phonecall is connected. it unlocks the screen when a phonecall is finished. Default this is off, and you do not have to use it if you do not want to.)
Option to set vibrate time in seconds
LED vibrate number can be chosen from 0 till 20
Option to not wakeup the device
Option to not give reminder in set timespan (if you specify from 2300 till 0700, it means that the program will not generate a reminder between 2300 and 0700 each day)
About box
Should display in QVGA/VGA/WQVGA/WVGA
The program uses almost no cpu time, only when it is needed

one "advanced user" registry key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/MissedCallReminder:
debug: Default is "False", if set to "True", the program will generate debug information in a logfile. to help me indentify problems.

NOTE: apparently Omnia devices use the sms count for both SMS and MMS, that means that the program should generate a MMS reminder if SMS reminder is selected. I would like to hear from Omnia users if this is true.

1.4.1 beta release
bugfix: Reminders are given for a notification even if the notification is not selected in the notifications tab. (second attempt )
bugfix: If no reminder between is used the program does not correctly follow the time rule
bugfix: program still vibrates the phone if phone sound is set to silent

TODO (Things that will be in a next version):
Multi language support

WISHLIST (Things that might be in a next version, if i have the time and can make it work)
Option to stop generating a reminder after x minutes
option to stop generating a reminder after x times

KNOWN BUGs (things that,if possible, be fixed in a next version)

A small FAQ
Q: what does Vibrate LED number mean?
A: The LED number specified here is used to vibrate the device. This is different per device. Using the "Menu - Test vibrate" you can test if the number entered in the vibrate LED number field is the correct one for vibrating the device.
Q: what does the menu option "No icon in taskbar mean?
A: the option "Menu - No icon in taskbar" controls the "minimize to taskbar" or "minimize and hide".
When "No icon in taskbar" is NOT selected the program will minimize to the taskbar. the program can only be reopened using the icon in the taskbar. it is not visible in the taskmanager.
When "No icon in taskbar" is selected the program will only minimize. it can be reopened by relaunching the program. it is also visible in the taskmanager.
TouchFlo user should select the "No icon in taskbar". when doing this please close the program and relaunch it for the setting to take effect.
Q: What does "Lock screen on call connect" mean?
A: it locks the screen using the windows lock when a phonecall is connected. it unlocks the screen when a phonecall is finished. Default this is off, and you do not have to use it if you do not want to.
Q: I cannot relaunch the program when it is already running using the program icon.
A: please see post # 2:

I'll try to explain with some pictures how the program behaves when the no icon in taskbar option is selected or not selected. Just to be sure that it is not the cause for users who are experiencing problems with reopening the program using the program icon:

first situation:
You have installed MissedCallReminder and you start it for the first time, If you change nothing and select Apply the following will now happen:

Menu - no icon in taskbar is NOT selected (noiconintaskbar.jpg)
The program is not visible in any Taskmanager's application list
The MissedCallReminder icon is visible in the taskbar (Iconintaskbarnotselected.jpg)

When this is happening the program will not react to clicks on the program icon in the programs list, it can only be reopened using the taskbar icon.

second situation
You have installed MissedCallReminder and you start it for the first time, you select Menu - no icon in taskbar AND completely exit the application using Menu - Exit. You then restart the program and select Apply and the following will now happen:

Menu - no icon in taskbar is selected (Iconintaskbarselected.jpg)
The program is visible in any Taskmanager's application list (visibleintaskmanager.jpg)
The MissedCallReminder icon is NOT visible in the taskbar

When this is happening the program will react to clicks on the program icon in the programs list.

Request: If users experience this and are certain the above situation is not the case then i would be very interested in what the program registry settings are. if you are able to do this could those users please open a registry editor and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MyMissedCallReminder and tell me the value of the key "minimizetotaskbar"

Looks neat :)

Throwing in an idea, hope it's ok. It would be good if you could have reminders for only missed calls and not messages (or the other way around for that matter - looks like you will get the same reminders from both on the screenshots).

I'm biking a lot and don't always won't to stop to read a new message, hence reminders can be a bit annoying. On the other hand, I'm wearing my headset so I always pick up calls :)

i am currently working on some "improvements" like having it minimize to the taskbar. i think i will also include the option to turn a reminder on or off for unread SMS or missed call

No vibrating on ASUS P535!

How do you HTC people cope with the reminder witch turns on the screen. In your pocket, an unwanted touch on the screen could run an application?
The Asus P535 has an HOLD button!

Too bad the button apply can't be reached with a 240x320 (landscape) display like the one used on the IPAQ 914C

when applying the settings you can also specify the LED number to vibrate (default is 1) . please try this. perhaps it will be usefull to have a test option.

regarding the unwanted touch problem, i personally use S2U2, so when the device wakes up i do not have this problem.
what i can do is add an option that the device does not wakeup when a reminder is given. but that does mean that you will not hear any reminder until the device wakes up.

There are programs that still work in SLEEP MODE (for example, autoflight is always telling me the time....even in sleep mode).

i think the LED number for vibrate could be any number between 0 - 5, but i do not know for sure, it is 1 on my Touch. i must admit that setting the LED number is not very clear for first time users. I do not know how to make it so that it automatically uses the correct number.

I'm in the impression that you can not hear a sound if the device is in sleep mode. but perhaps i am mistaken? Autoflight generates a sound without waking up the device?

pretty nice work.. however, it would be good if following things can be revised?

--> can you plz add in a feature "number to repeat". FYI, i'm now using Throttle Launcher. So, i can't trigger off the reminder alarm. it would be good if it stops automatically after x-times (which can be set by user),

OR..

whenever i read/aware the missed call/msg, this reminder program would detect that missed call / unread msg = 0, thus OFF the reminder automatically. (This would be preferable)

Many Thanks....:)

regarding above statements, perhaps i shall further clarify....

a) add in "number to repeat"..
example: reminder will give notification every interval of 2mins for 5 times

I'm now using Touch (with Throttle Launcher interface, 240x320), perhaps this reminder program need user to off it manually? yet, it's too bad that i can't trigger this button... so, i suggest 2nd option which stated above....

Thanks...

if the user dismisses the missed calls and marks the unread sms as read while the program is running ,the program should know when not to give the reminder anymore.
however problems can arise if the program is not running and the user dismisses the missed call/unread sms notifications. the set reminder will then not be cancelled. this should be fixed in the next version. the next version will also have an option to clear generated reminders.

Hi,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Personally I think this program has great potential. Just wish it could be revised to a better software.

I tried it yesterday. It rings to notify me that i have missed calls / unread msg.. somehow, I went to read the msg and checked the missed call.. yet, the reminder won't stop.. (and i din see any button to be pressed to stop, if there is any? )..

plz advise?

Thanks

Was the program running when you dismissed the noifications? does the program currently indicate that there are missed call or missed sms items?

if the program does not indicate that there are missed messages you could use the following:

make sure the program is running
generate a missed call and/or unread sms.
dismiss the missed call and/or unread sms.
the program should now reset the reminder count.

the next version will have an option to clear the reminders

The new version works a lot better when searching for tones!! Question, is there any way that you could set the startup action to open and apply on its own so that a user doesn't have to do it manually? Maybe ran more like a true back ground process?

I have noticed that once the program is running if I want to lauch it again via the programs shortcut under windows it won't open. I have no way of closing/minimizing TF3D to get to the system tray icon to activate it that way. So, a relaunch from the programs icon would be good.

Great Job!!

Hi, I know that someone else had asked to have the "minimize to the taskbar"... but I hate it! :)
This is because I don't have any other program that minimize to the taskbar, so if I have only one icon here... I consider it a waste of space...
So, is it possible to have the option like to select "minimize to taskbar" or "minimize and hide"?
Anyway, I appreciate your work, thank's! :)

I have tested this some more and it has to do with TouchFlo being active. i use Manilla2D (also TouchFlo) and if i soft reset the program starts up but does not minimize to the taskbar. if i disable TouchFLo the program works as expected. I have yet to figure out why this is.

Currently the program does, sort of, do what is requested by you ,glaucos and bigix1. (and perhaps also curious george)

if the program is displayed in the icon tray open it and use Menu - Exit to terminate the program
Start the program again
Now use Menu - Minimize, the program will minimize but will not minimize to the icon tray.
if you have minimized it in this way, launching the program again will open up the existing window. You can also access it using a process manager.

The menu - Minimize option was supposed to also minimize to the icon tray, but it only does that if the program is already active in the icon tray!

it is only neccessary to use apply when changes are made. that is actually what Menu - Minimize is intended to be used for. minimizing the program when it is not needed to use apply.

Version 1.2 should minimize if the option Menu - Startup with windows is chosen and the user uses a soft reset. Using this menu item makes the program create a shortcut in the startup folder. a user could also launch this shortcut manually and it should make the application startup and immediately minimize to the taskbar. the startup parameter should be used like this "MyMissedCallReminder.exe -s"

Currently minimizing at startup does not work if TF3D or Manilla 2D is active.

does this provide a usable solution?

Let me see if I am understanding you? The next time I reset my device I will get the startup of the program. Instead of pressing apply I should press menu then minimize and that should do the trick? I shouldn't have to do it again anymore when I reset? Thats to say as long as I have done the menu startup option at least once?

I have TF3D start automatically on start up.

Well I just tried this and it didn't work. The only way to make it disappear and go to the task tray is to press the apply. So, could you make it to were we don't see the startup screen any longer and it automatically launches to the tray without a startup acknowledgement?

are u using TF3D or Manilla 2D ? if so then the minimizing currently will not work. if you are not using it or have it disabled , selecting "Menu" - "Startup with windows" should make the program automatically launch with windows and then minimize.

it can also be done by creating a shortcut to the program and adding the parameter "-s" (without the quotes).

Is there any command line parameter to close the application?

for example: MissedCallReminder.exe /close

My idea is:

I have PhoneWeaver profile software that is able to start an application within profile activation.
I would like to have MissedCallReminder running during night, but not during a day.
So my idea is to let PhoneWeaver start the MissedCallReminder when night profile is activated and close when day profile is activated.

Maybe is there any other solution, please advise.

Thanks.

are u using TF3D or Manilla 2D ? if so then the minimizing currently will not work. if you are not using it or have it disabled , selecting "Menu" - "Startup with windows" should make the program automatically launch with windows and then minimize.

it can also be done by creating a shortcut to the program and adding the parameter "-s" (without the quotes).

I think our definition of minimize maybe a little different. I have removed TF3D from the startup folder. I reboot and still got the same thing. It still shows the program start up screen. The difference is if I ignor it and don't press anything after a bit I won't see it anymore. But a quick check of the htc task manager shows it is still there. If I would have pressed apply it would have disappeared from the htc task manager and gone to the system tray. I have already selected the option to start on windows from the menu. When the program starts up if you just minimize it you will still see it running in both the system tray and the htc task manager. If you instead press apply it will remove the htc task manager notification and run only in the system tray. What I am looking for is if it can be set to not provide any start up notification screen. Have the program just automatically "apply" itself to the system tray and remove the htc task manager notification.

Hi,

I'm getting reminders during calls, so if someone were to sms me during a call, it will remind me (say i set 1 minute interval) until i read the sms. Any idea how it can be temporarily disabled during phone calls?

Thanks

that is indeed possible. but currently the application is programmed with .NET. Which doesn't allow creating services. Only C++ can be used for this and my C++ skills are pretty rusty. Having said that, i'll see what i can do.

Kill it with a simple script for mortscript
A partial solution to minimize the application at startup is the following mortscript. You can install the script in any folder and later it is necessary to create a link to the same one in the StartUp folder of windows (no Start Menu). Anyhow only it works if the script begins before TouchFLO 3D and it is only possible to minimize the application (it is visible in the TouchFLO button, but no in the taskbar in contrast to what it happens it is used "apply" function).

Example of mortscript:

Run ( "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\MissedCallReminder.lnk" )
Minimize ( MissedCallReminder )
Exit

Note: It is possible use notepad but the file is necesary end with the extension .mscr

You press apply if you want to apply new settings. minimize will only minimize the application. are u using TF3D on your device? if so that the program icon will probably not be visible (I do not have a TF3D device myself but i think it is hidden behind TF3D). running the program again will currently not make the application visible. I hope that this will be fixed in version 1.3

However , in version 1.2, if you open the program and then use the "menu -minimize" option, you should be able to access it again using the HTC taskmanager.

Very nice work..
I have a feature request..

Can you add the option to have two sounds.. One for the Missed call and the other for the Missed SMS?

It would be cool to have a sweet voice say every X amount of minutes. “You have a missed call” or “You have a missed Text Message/SMS”

But we need another sound option..

I also like the min/hide or close/hide option..

Thank You…

i'm afraid that the only good way to do this is by using the menu.
The only other option is to edit the Windows registry. The vibrate LED number that the program uses is stored in the registry.

That can be done: version 1.2.5 will be released soon and will have the following:
bugfix : Program only searches for files in the directories inside the selected folder, not the root of the selected folder.
bugfix (hopefully): When using TouchFlo and the option "startup with windows", the program does not automatically minimize to the taskbar.

No reminder when call is in progress

Finally i have a chance to test om the new version. I am testing it on a HTC Touch HD with TouchFLO enabled. I encountered a few things which i do not know whether it is a bug or not.

1) If i made a tick on the "No icon in taskbar" it actually will show the the program running in the taskbar. But if i untick then it will not show.

2) If i minimize the program with no icon in taskbar (which is untick on "No icon in taskbar"), i am unable to reopen the program to change any setting unless i perform a soft reset.

3) Test vibrate function does not work for HD.

4) The reminder works but no vibration like the previous version.

There are also some function i do not understand like:
1) Vibrate LED number (I suppose it is not Diamond)
2) Lock screen on connect...
Can help to enlighten me what is the two function?

1) a LED number is used to vibrate the device. this is 1 for a HTC touch but can be diferent for other devices. since i do not know of a way to make this work automatically , users must choose the LED number that is the vibrate LED for their device.
2) If you select this option and press apply, the next time you answer or make a phonecall (eg connected) the device will be locked using the windows lock (unlock button appears on left softkey).this is to prevent an accidental button press with your ear.

For the meantime you may like to tick the option that made the icon in taskbar...in my case it have to tick "No Icon in Taskbar" and choose not to "Startup on Windows".

Thank you both for your input. i am having trouble trying to reproduce the behaviour (i do not have a pure TOUCHFLO 3D device). are these the steps you both have done? :
thick "no icon in taskbar"
use "Menu - Exit" to close the program
Launch the program using the start menu
Use "Apply" or "Menu - Minimize", the program minimizes
Relaunch the program using the start menu. (Program is visible again, no icon in taskbar)

Hi mb286,
I have follow your steps and the result is the same, which is:
1) Ticked "No Icon in Taskbar" mean got icon in Taskbar and program can be re-open from the taskbar.
2) Unticked "No Icon in Taskbar" mean no icon in taskbar, program still can work but unable to relaunch the program again.

Therefore if we use the "Startup with Windows" together with no tick in "No Icon in Taskbar", we will not be able to relaunch the program after the first usage of the program, even a soft reset will not help. We have to uninstall and install again if we need to reconfigure the setting.

Really thanks for the great effort...:)

By the way, i am not good in programming, but like to inform u that there is a program that work well with TouchFLO3D, can run in background without icon in taskbar and startup with Windows, and it is AE Button Plus. I know it is not relevant to this program but maybe u can study the coding. Sorry if i am being stupid...

I've been watching this thread for a bit, and thought I could help at this point. I have an i910 Omnia and my vibrate setting is 11 on apps I have to set one on (including OS Reminder that I'm using.........for now), so I am guessing up to 10 isn't enough!!

that is strange, have you tried it with a different LED vibrate setting?

I tried all LED vibrate settings. 10 works with the short vibrate. But now I red that 10 is not enough for the omnia. It needs 11 i think!

What do you think when you will update the last version?

thx a lot!

I am planning to release a small updated version wich allows for LED numbers above 10 in the next couple of days.

I am currently a bit at a loss what the issue could be. But i am still looking into it.

I also found out that the reminder work intermittently in HD. For the first time it will work but subsequently the second reminder onwards sometime works sometimes dont work.

For future release is it possible to have the reminder ring and vibrate but dont wake up the screen?

Tried 1.2.5 and was working perfectly (with the 'no notification while on call' feature) as 1.2 was pretty annoying when i'm on call and the phone vibrates reminding me there's an unread msg. But after a few days of 1.2.5, the feature seems to swap.. No notification while not on call and Notification during call (could be the same issue as HD?, I'm using Touch Dual).

Now i've reverted back to 1.2, at least it will notify me all the time, during call and not during call. :(

I will look into this problem.

Regarding not waking up the device, while it is on the wishlist I currently do not know how to vibrate the device and/or make a sound without waking up the device. If i am not mistaken the normal notification behaviour of windows is also to wakeup the device.

A new version is available.

bugfix: Notifications not always given
bugfix: Functionality swaps in certain situations: No notification while not on call and Notification during call
LED vibrate number can now be chosen above 10

no fix yet for the Touch HD problem regarding not being able to relaunch the program. Still researching this one.

Ok.. i'm trying the new v1.2.5.2, so far so cool, no incident of swapping the reminders yet.

But i noticed after v1.2, the battery seems to be draining quite fast. Yea I know you're gonna say to delay the frequency reminder to be lesser, but this is without any missed call/sms. Just after i installed it, it eats the battery.

Am i the only one ?

I found out that the new version is not reminding at all or intermittently.
Most of the time it will not remind until i wake up the phone. If the phone is in sleeping mode 80% of the time it will not remind.

I had the same problem. But it's easy to solve.
After installing, when you open the program for the first time, you have to go to menu and put the option "no icon in taskbar" on.
And that's all. You will see the program in your task manager.

Thanks for this great app.

I had it working just fine on my kaiser but noticed that it would sometimes complain that it couldn't find itself when trying to generate a reminder, probably because it was installed on the card rather than internally (I think from other behaviours that this card may be a little flaky). I reloaded it onto the device itself, but now I just can't get it to start minimized after a soft reset. I tried the -s switch on the startup link but then it says it cant find missedmessagereminder -s (maybe I edited incorrectly).

Could I ask you to repeat how to make the thing start minimized (I've read all the posts but I'm easily confused!), and suggest this be made easier to set. Also, could I suggest an 'about' in the menu with the version number.

Thanks again. It's a terrific utility.

thanks for your input. The menu option "Menu" - "Startup with windows" is used to set minimized at startup

the easiest to do this is to uncheck "Startup with windows". close the application start it up again and then check "Startup with windows" again.

currently test vibrate only tests if you have set the correct vibrate LED. it does not use the value of the vibrate length field.

Sorry for asking the basic question, but how does "Vibrate LED number" works? 1,2 etc? what does it represents?

The LED number specified here is used to vibrate the device. This is different per device. Using the "Menu - Test vibrate" you can test if the number entered in the vibrate LED number field is the correct one for vibrating the device.

Non QVGA screen support
Multi language support
Option to not wakeup the device
Other missed notification (mms,e-mail, etc)

I have currently still no solution on the reported problem with the touch HD that users cannot relaunch the program once it is running. However, i am still not sure that it is a problem that always happens on a Touch HD. are there any HD users out there that have no problems with this app?

Just to be sure i will once more explain how the program is supposed to behave with the option "Menu - No icon in taskbar"

This controls the "minimize to taskbar" or "minimize and hide".

I am currently testing an implementation that reduces the CPU usage to 2 - 3 %

also again a change in the roadmap, next version will probably still not have language and multi screen support. this is taking a bit longer and i am currently concentrating on other features

Hello mb286,

Just wanted to take a moment to thank you very much for this MUCH needed freeware app!

I also want to report that I can confirm the inability to relaunch or re-access the settings of this app, once the "Apply" button is pressed, let alone "Minimizing" the app, on an SE Xperia X1i. Yes, you're awesome creation has hit us Xperia folk, and we're loving it :)! Just want to request to please see if you can correct the inaccessibility issue of this program.

I also have a very simple feature request to be added to the wish list:

Is it possible to add an option to blink the screen, along with the vibration and the LEDs, like the Nokias? I find that the screen illumination helps sometimes, with distance viewing, better, than the LEDs.

Once again, thank you very much for your time and effort. Really, really awesome stuff :D! Thanks!

Great app! Thank you very much for your work! I was using phonealarm on my Moto Q but it's not compatible wth TF3D and was thrilled to discover this.

Many great suggestions here, especially missed email, although I have noticed nobody requested a feature where the app would wake the device, generate a reminder and then put the device back to sleep. I think, if this is possible, it would help to conserve battery power.

FYI I am using a Touch Pro with Telus stock rom. Everything seems to be working properly.

When device is notificating about missed calls/sms, display is being on. I think that it's not good idea, cause if device is in the pocket some buttons on today screen could be pressed.

I suggest to add a checkbox like "don't turn on display", just to play a sound and vibrate. Maybe it will be useful for such situations..

true means the program will minimize to the taskbar (there will be an icon visible in the lower right corner) this means that you cannot relaunch the program using the programs menu, only by clicking on the icon in the lower right corner. If this is not usable, ie the icon is not visible, because some other program is on top of it, you should uncheck "Menu - No icon in taskbar"

Regarding sending text messages, the program does not send text messages, it only repeats notifications with a sound and/or vibration. So i'm afraid i can't say much about your email account problem.

Version 1.3 is released, please see first post;

Option to not wakeup the device
additional missed notification (mms and e-mail)
Option to set sound per reminder type (the sounds will,if needed, be generated all at once for the moment, this could be changed in the future)
Option to not give reminder in set timespan
About box
Reduced CPU usage
Changes to GUI

two "advanced user" registry keys in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/MissedCallReminder:
idletime: Default is 4, For tweaking cpu usage; a higher value means less cpu usage, but this could also mean that some reminders will not be generated. use with caution.
debug: Default is "False", if set to "True", the program will generate debug information in a logfile. to help me indentify problems.

Now, there isn´t any exception error when i change "No reminder between".. and it seems to work nice.. but if i do a soft reset (or end missedcallreminder process) , run again the program and i try to change again "No reminder between" then FROM and TILL fields are empty. (and "No reminder between" field is checked)

Tested in HTC Cruise
Keep up the good work and thanks for support!!

Facing the same problem on my Diamond. Think it's a bug!

You have to manually set the correct LED that is used for vibrate. Please change the number and use the menu - Test vibrate.

I have choosen #1 for my Diamond and done the Vibrate Test successfully. However, when I get a Missed Call, only the Tone is heard but no vibration...

I think post #161 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3583550&postcount=161) from another user who is using Diamond stating is facing the same issue. Maybe anyone who is using Diamond can share with me which LED# you are using? Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your reply.

True means that the program will minimize to the taskbar. This effectively means that the program can only be reopened using the icon in the taskbar (the icon should be in the lower right corner.) If you cannot see the icon than some other program (perhaps TF3D) is on top of the icon.

You can change this by using Menu - No icon in taskbar . After you have changed this, please close the application and restart it. The program should now reopen if you use the programs shortcut.

I have the same problem on a Samsung Omnia. I am on the right LED#, as it vibrates in the vibration testing, but when the reminder comes there is only sound, no vibration. The vibration works in version 1.2.5.2, so I think it is a bug in version 1.3.

Also, I wonder what's the use of "do not wakeup device" option? I suppose it should be an option to remind with sound/vibration but without turning the screen on. On my Omnia however, there is no sound nor vibration when this option is ticked, just like no reminder, I think this is another bug.....

As you already suspected, when the "do not wakeup device" option is checked, the program will not wakeup the device to give the reminder.

I have tested this out and the reminder is given without waking up the device. however, there indeed seems to be something wrong with the vibrate function. I'll look into this.

Hi,

For me, if i check the "do not wakeup device" checkbox, no reminder will be given. And if I turn on my phone, all the "missed" reminder will all comes all together...

For example, I set to remind me every 5min and have the "do not wakeup" checkbox checked. When there is a missed call and i left my Diamond in standby mode for around 15min, the phone is completely silent. But the next time i turn on my phone by pressing the "On" button, i get 3 reminder(tone) at one go.... :(

Thank you for the info. If the phone hibernates, it does generate sounds (and when i have fixed this, vibrate), but they are only audible when the device is woken up. However it seems that not all phones have this behaviour. This might well be because of the way i generate sounds, but i really do not know how to do this in a way that it will always work without waking up the device.

If you experience this then i'm afraid you must uncheck the "do not wakeup" option.

When "Tone per reminder is used", the program does vibrate.

There is no MMS under Messages, but there is a Messages\MMStemp that has an Unread value in it.

Edit: Adding in the MMS\Unread key made it run. I don't have data though, so I don't know if the MMS reminder actually works. But everything else seems to be functional for me for what I need it for. Thanks!

Thank you for the info. in WM 6.0 and 6.1, this key is used by WM to notify that there is a new MMS message. This is only used at startup, so i would think that it will work when the program is active and a new MMS message is recieved. i'll see if i can also make it work with the WM 6.5 key that is supposed to be used.

You can use this one: http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/ to check the registry on your pda

The LED number specified in Vibrate LED number" is used to vibrate the device. This is different per device. Using the "Menu - Test vibrate" you can test if the number entered in the vibrate LED number field is the correct one for vibrating the device.

I've got the problem once I minimized it, I cant re-open the settings screen via the programs icon. Not even after a soft-reset.

So now I just cant open the settings screen any more heh.

I know the program is running cause I checked it with a taskmngr

i'm using it on a touch hd with touchflo
I'm using it on a diamond and i have a workaround. In order to get it to run again just soft reset the device and than you have an interval of about 3-4 seconds while tf3d is loading when you can see the icon in the taskbar on the bottom right corner. clicking on it will open missedcallreminder in the background, when tf3d finishes loading you can open in again... :D

minimizetotaskbar should be set to false . You should be able to do this by checking "Menu" - "No icon in taskbar", or by changing the value in the registry to "false"

Just wanted to say thanks for this app, been running it for ages and kudos is well overdue.

I am running it on a wizard and currently on a 21222 build from XDA2, bit low on memory and wondered if some of the missed call setting could be set in registry keeping memory space a bit lighter. the main use for me is to set one sound for all call/sms/mms/email reminders.

Trying to remove the program, it works as designed but made me realize that i really don't want a lot of reminders so I un-installed it. Now I get the error "Notification Error - Cannot execute \program files\missedcallreminder1.3\myplayreminder.exe" like every 15 minutes.

The biggest reason I wanted to remove it was I was getting email notifications even though i really don't want them, even with the box unchecked. I JUST want the missed call alert.

I was getting email notifications even though i really don't want them, even with the box unchecked.
I noticed this, too. I'm getting notifications of unread e-mail, but I unchecked the "Missed email reminder" checkbox on the Notifications tab.

BTW minor visual issue: The text for this checkbox is truncated - it's broken into two lines and there are some pixels missing from the bottom of the second line. I think the control should either be higher (to completely display the second line) or wider (so that the text fits on one line).

From another thread, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330872

For those still looking for the answer for this; the only way to turn this off when using Push mail is by setting the following registry value:

HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}

set value "Options" to 20000000 (hexadecimal) or 536870912 (decimal)

Note that this disables email notifications completely, so if you want just a sound or a vibe, you'll have to use some other tool (e.g. MortScript) to achieve that.

This worked to get rid of the email notifies for me, it looks like the built in WM6.1 stuff is sending it's own pop ups even if you uncheck the selections in MissedCallReminder

I have got CurrentUser\System\State\Messages\MMS but there is no key in there called Unread. I did a full search of the registry and couldn't find anything similar, although there is a key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\AuxDisplay\WMMes sageNotification\RegNotifyKey2 which has that path as its value, so your not the only one looking for that entry. I suppose you could just put a try/catch around that bit of code and disable mms notification if the key isn't found. Is the source available anywhere?

I actually use SPB Phone suite for my call management but I was in search of an app that allowed me to lock my screen (Samsung i760) when in-call to avoid inadvertant screen touches producing unwanted results. Therefore, i turned off all the settings related to notificatin for SMS, call, etc. and am only using this featire. BTW, thanks for keeping in the program!

However, one issue: I have the option set to start with windows and get message on teh screen attached. It works fine if I start it from WM6.1 start menu.

On my phone, XDA Orbit II (=HTC Touch Cruise) with Manila Rom, the reminder 1.3 wont work properly.

1. I can only start it once (didn`t check the registry settings, sorry)

2. It reminds me of "something" all 15 minutes, cant see it properly because it seems to interfer with S2U2. All Calls, sms, mms and mails are on status "read" so there shouldnt be a reminder...

3. So I uninstalled it, but after reboot there seems to remain something in the autostart settings, because there comes a failure message "cant load ....reminder...")

Thank you for your input
1) It should work correctly if you check "Menu - No icon in taskbar" after first startup.
2) There is only an audio reminder, there is no visible reminder generated.
3) The program creates an entry in the \Windows\Startup folder. you can delete this file manually. (Missedcallreminder.lnk)

Tried to install ver 1.3 on Touch XL (ONYX ULTIMATE 4.6 ROM (Recommended))
but it did not work.

I had to install version 1.2.5

1.3 didnt work on my samsung omnia i900, the program wont even load after install, always shows an error.

Should I bother with 1.2.5?

Thanks for you reply.

I deleted the autostart entry succesfully.

Maybe I should give it another try with the Option "No icon in taskbar", i didn`t check it yet...

Can you make it so that it doesn't start reminding me until after x hrs of not reading sms or missed call?

Say for eg. Make it so that it doesn't start vibrating until after 3 hrs of not reading the sms. This will be a good feature.

Hi,
I'm running version 1.3 on HTC TyTn II and everything's working fine. All reminders came out fine and never bothered me when there is none. Vibrate also works. The only thing bothering me is that the No Reminder doesn't stick when I soft reset. I have to set the time frame for each and every reset. Any way to fix this since mine is always fixed during my sleep time?

Another thing that might be useful is a Today plugin to show the number of missed items, which also double up as one click access to all related reminders i.e. missed call, sms, mms and email. This could also be configurable on which item(s) to show. Currently the only quick way to open up the missed items is by the softkey Notification, which requires minimum two clicks.

Hope my suggestions are not too much to ask for.

Works awesome!!!

Just wondering if there is a way to have it remind you more often than every 1 minute?? Like maybe every 15 seconds?? I ask because when I'm on call and get a message in the middle of the night I need a lot of reminders to wake me up!! :)
