I am looking for some TDD (Telecommunication Device for the Deaf) software for my Tilt. I've got some friends who are Deaf and I would like to be able to call their TDD device and communicate with them by typing.

I know that I can do text messaging...but it's SLOW compared to typing direct.

Ideas?

I too, would like to be able to communicate directly to TTYs via my HTC P4000. Hopefully an enterprising developer can come up with a program for WinMo smartphones that would allow hearing and deaf users to be able to communicate via thier smartphones and TDDs.

A program such as this I would definitely pay a fee for.

Hello,

Although I am not sure about the HTC P4000, however, I know that on the stock At&t ROM, that in the "personal" tab of the settings menu, there is an option near the bottom called TTY, and if you tap it, you get a screen with a check box that says "Enable TTY support". Just guessing, as my knowledge of this subject is minimal, but try checking this box, possibly soft resetting, and calling the TTD number. The manual says nothing about doing anything else once you have checked the box, so I think that's all you have to do. I have never used TTY as I have no reason to, but I think the tilt is supposed to be compatible right out of the box. Hope I've helped,
