Maybe not a good idea flashing a 7501 ROM to a 7510 device.
Just my 10 Yen worth...
But back to what I was saying before....
Tilt / Kaiser / *950 ROMs were fast and furious. a bunch of Chiefs jammmg...
But no silly teasers...
just my 10 Pesos worth....

Thanks for your replies people. We're working out a few things and will be contacting those that replied offering help shortly. Again, we have wives, work, families, etc. so sometimes things don't always come immediately. :)
We are testing another internal build in the next 2-3 days and should be good for a public beta shortly thereafter.
In case you're wondering, I really like my Athena again after testing these new ROMs. Making me think about going back to my Athena as my primary device. We can't wait to share this with you guys and get some feedback so we can improve it. :D

AstainHellbring is doing a great job of fitting in some cooking time into his busy real life. :)
Bug 1 of 3 resolved and moving on to bug 2 of 3. We should have another internal build to flash tonight/tomorrow for further testing and if things go smoothly and people at work don't bother us too much we might....I SAID MIGHT DAMMIT...LOL, have a public release this coming weekend or early week.
Thank you all for your continued support, donations and elbow room. Sometimes our wives don't understand why we do what we do.
EDIT: Oh, one more thing...we're going to try to work in the other USB host stuff some of you requested in a second release...so that's not a no, it's a we need to get a few things out of the way then give it a try. Let's see if it plays nicely with the Athena. :)

Hey guys sorry for the quiet time. Been trying to work though a bug with some auto installer pieces I'm cooking as hard as I can today so I can get a hopeful RC to the internal beta testers get feedback and as soon as feedbacks gotten and fixes made we hope to have a release. Its getting closer and thanks for your patience. Anyone that wants, please feel free to donate to the project Donate to Athena Redux Project here (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=athenaproject%40logontek%2enet&item_name=Athena%20Project%20Donations&buyer_credit_promo_code=&buyer_credit_product_category=&buyer_credit_shipping_method=&buyer_credit_user_address_change=&no_shipping=0&no_note=1&tax=0¤cy_code=USD&lc=US&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8)

It's nice to know that there are others that are eager for an update and willing to donate for the development of the USB Host update...
I know there are still more who want the Athena to be more compatible with most storage drives, especially digital cameras and smartphones (and other powered devices) in storage mode, with external HDDs (or even external cd disc drive) and with large flash storages.
For so long, we have been yearning for an optimized ATI graphic driver and unfortunately, it may not happen (not saying never though:rolleyes:). But there are still other Athena key features that are worth updating, like the USB host drivers (I believe updating the host drivers is "easier" than making an optimized ATI driver).
So please, for those who are willing, let us donate for the development for this ROM...Yup, It's better to see an Athena ROM with a nice UI, stable build and faster responses, but it is undoubtedly great to see that underneath all of these improvements come also hardware/driver improvements like update on the host drivers, an optimized ATI graphic driver and maybe a Compact Flash driver to replace the MicroDrive...
Donate, hope for the best, give BIG thanks to the developers... and bring Athena back to LIFE

have no idea if we'll be able to release this weekend for public beta testing........
maybe the weekend he said is in 2011 not in 2009......
we are all hungry for a new rom, if this is a beta rom ok maybe there will be a bug or two or three, so what ?
it is still a beta, we need a new rom.......
let us try this one and you can still work on it and release in a month or two something more stable...
thanks.

This is tantalizing! I guess if we were not here yearning for it, pleading for solutions, there was no point in them posting anything if it would not serve the community. At least they have a group of supporters jumping up and down and shaking their pompons and flags, waiting to see them cross the line!:D

This has been a very very long wait as the originally promised three days have now become nearly a month; and other ROMS based on WM6.5 are already running on our Athenas.
Hopefully the ROM will still come as it is a promise to the community.

Uhm where was the three days promised? I'll let you know this much i am working on it trying to instead of release random crap release a tested rom that will have far less bugs than anything else out there. It is definately really close just wait a bit more and it will be there, trust me its worth the wait for a good rom

Greets folks,
This is a great rom, the team has worked very hard to build the best rom possible, I am running the currnet build and it may not have some of the fluff of the 2304x builds it looks great, is fast and very stable. I am sure you will enjoy this rom :) More to follow..

Well the team has focused on keeping the rom clean fast and stable as outlined by LTxda in the lead page of this thread. what does that really mean to me you may ask. my thought is that a rom needs to be usable above all else. on this rom I have been able to install all my must have apps and have them work reliably, I can enjoy the good and finger friendly goodness of a wm 6.5 rom, I can use this rom to teather my laptop without issues. last nite i was at a friends party and someone wanted to show off a web based video, they asked me to use my Athena to do this, we did and there was much laughter and guess what, it simply worked as expected!
**Please note, I use my device in the 192dpi default screen resolution because that is my preference, Real VGA is there for you to use your preferred screen res and it works, so you can make yours** My usage observations are based on this usage.
Cheers

my last post in this tread appears to be almost taken as a silly comment by some,,,,
I have never seen a ROM take almost 10 months to cook without at least a public beta release.....
I don't mind waiting - but I'm not going to sit here and stroke someone's ego for naught.
I too have a job and family - but do not lead anyone on with teases.

This is exactly what i'm looking for. Something that just works. I can't thank you and all of xda-developers cookers and testers for the work you put in to bring us great roms and extend the life of our devices long past what is supported by the company that put out the device. I have been looking forward to switching to a WM6.5 rom and I can only hope this will be what i'm looking for. I have now entered the "impatiently waiting" mode that the others have been in for a while. :D

This ROM is more and more starting to look like my husband's idea of redecorating - he's done the dining room over and over to get a tiny flaw out of it till the tiny flaw got bigger and bigger and bigger! By then he had such a problem that he could not dig himself out of the hole he was in. Perfectionism sometimes get you nowhere. Look at Microsoft for example, if they kept all their OSes off people's beta testing hands, they would be still holding back Windows 3.1 and would be bankrupt. Nothing can be perfect. 100% error free anything is an impossibility. Imperfection moves the world. I for one stopped waiting for my husband to finish the dining room. If the analogy fits....:) you are welcome to wear it :D. I for one started to accept my device for what it is and am happy with the ROM in it. It will never be a Ferrari or an Audi but I am happy with it being a Toyota. We spend so much time tweaking that there is no time left to actually enjoying it and letting the hair down. Life is too short and the is a beach out there.

If you haven't figured this out already, this thread is just a psychological experiment to see how long an on-line community can be kept interested without actually delivering anything.
Now the only question is: Which university is cruel enough to run this experiment on us without our implicit permission?

So an update eh? How about a public beta? Sorry you all have been waiting so long, there has been much going on in the world of athena on our end and much more in testing. One thing we worked hard on is a true 6.1 NK.exe the ONLY rom anywhere that will have that, a work done by the hardworking cmonex herself. To download go here: http://eliteteam.htc-hackers.mobi/pub/AthenaProjectRedux/ Download the nbh and the wrapper. I may sound like a n00b but what is a "6.1 NK.exe" ??
In few words, NK.exe can be considered as the kernel of wm. But I think that he wants to say 6.5 because as far as I understand all ROMs with SPL 3.5 have a 6.1 kernel (based on x7510 one).
Another question: can I flash this ROM on a x7510 or is only for x750x?

this may be posted somewhere else but in case you are using windows 7 to flash your device it will fail on first attempt.
as soon as the athena goes to bootldr screen windows has no idea what it is and then searches and installs some additional drivers, while this is going on the upgrade process will fail.
simple wait for windows 7 to correctly install the new drivers, leave the athena on the usb bootldr screen and then re-run the flash wrapper application. enjoy.

This Rom is for SPL 3.5 only, The PagePool should be 16mb, but as Astain said there is a tool you can get with the rom that you can use to modify the PP size (Several PP sizes were tested and 16mb seemed to work the best) Enjoy :)

Make a Hardreset after Flashing. there could be old system files there too, which can make trouble.
i made a sd-card flash without problems...
its a 23016build of WM6.5 with titanium
speed is ok but there are faster builds available.
bootscreen changed after install
Screen rotation is active (WOW nice feature)
Battery icon in right upper corner next to clock.
xbutton is working but there are still some displaybugs there
office mobile included.
so far nice and smooth running rom!!! THX elite Team
one bug i found in last 30mins of testing. if i shutdown the rom with pressing 3 secs the power button there is a message window popping up which only says yes or no! theres no message in the window.

No the spl 3.5 is a 6.0 kernel from x7500 that was hacked to allow for x7510 spl info. THis was a new hack that was the x7510 kernel that was hacked to allow buttons from 7500.
In theory this should be flashable from x7510 as well and should support all x7510 features as well. I didnt hear back from my testers so please try this out. If you have issues flashing please PM me and I will get you a version that will for sure flash. Thanks!

To let everyone know there is no plans for a 1.2 spl release. I would recommend to everyone that they upgrade to the 3.5 spl far better system. This rom will not flash to a 1.2 spl phone so should protect from flash issues.

thnaks for the great rom, Was testing the camera and after taking a few shots either the preivew screen goes black showing no data or the live preview shrinks to a tiny image in the middle of the screen. The camera still takes the pic 's no problem. you just have to guess what you are looking at :-)

Can you please confirm a few things, (I am still running the beta build to help track/reproduce reported bugs) you are talking about the main camera right?, Did you perform a Hard Reset after flashing the beta rom. I have not seen any issues when launching the camera app using the camera button, or from the pictures app, I have noticed a similar problem when trying to use any camera or photo related function from the today/home screen panel. (I realize we always ask "did you perform a Hard reset" but it is very important to clear any remnants from previous roms :) )
Cheers

hello yep I did a hard reset after flashing... I tried a few times and the issue arises when the image is being saved and the funky busy icon appears it goes strange then. I have been taking smaller [1meg] pictures and the problem is not seen then onyl when saving larger pics. I am saving to an old SD card, so if no one else is seeing this then it may just be the data transfer speed causing me problems.

many thanks for all your work
I am having troubles with the camera as well, though different from those above. I could not start camera at all either from the button or "pictures". screen goes blank and I have to SR. I did a hard reset and it works ok so perhaps its a conflict with one of my apps but I havn't seen it before.
finding the scrolling a bit choppy and have got the "smeared" icons in the main menu a few times.
Windows live is not working. After entering email and password and tapping "next" it goes back to "sign in" page.
had the comm manager button error as well "operal" i think it was. SR fixed it.
looking forward to next release
BTW I had HR 3-4 times:D

The Video or Media Player cannot play videos. Returns error: "VIDEO0001.mp4" (Header Band) Then, The file 'VIDEO0001' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certiicate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.
Can you please look into this?
I will report any errors I find as I go along too.

still the same if I save to ram.
when the picture saves the screen goes black and the busy icon in the centre is displayed but with the background of the desktop.. after that the camera sometimes recovers and you can see the camera preview window or sometimes the camera preview shrinks down to the space which was occupied by the busy icon, on other occasions it just goes black.. as i said before the camera still works you just cannot see the preview.. it seems more stable saving to ram so if i am still the only one getting this then its a speed issue and can be put on the back burner...
great rom btw

I will see if we can reproduce this, I am on a newer build atm, so I will need to get with the cook and see what is what. How much free ram do you have when this happens?

Yep, camera doesn't work correctly. Then, when i tried to open a picture from File explorer i saw smth strange - a picture was shifted. I think the problem is the fact that u used application from WXGA screen (when i've tried to open it through Pictures and videos evrth was ok!). Button configuration shold be taken from X7500 (comm manager button can be used for 2 actions). When the screen off music cannot switch to the next track. End the backlight of IE launch button has its own life:). I don't know the algorithm of its work but it seems to me that this is strange, that when u switc the screen off it still working for a ten sec)))

I loaded the beta and things seem to be going well so far. A couple of things I can't seem to find though...
I can't find the "Today" item under settings to change the background/theme and/or the items on the display.
Also, I can't find the "Bluetooth" item under settings either. How can I pair my headset?
Am I just completely blind???

When i click next to the windows start button the normal windows menus open. In the old honneycone form. From there your can acces hard to find items, like bluetooth settings. I however don't know whether it's a bug I can acces these menus.

Brilliant. I never thought that clicking on the word start would have a different response than clicking on the logo to the left. Both the logo as well as the hardware buttons bring up the quicklaunch app. Sure enough I am able to bring up the honeycomb by clicking on the word start.
Much appreciated.

one of the interesting features of "Q" Menu (click on flag get "Q" menu, click on "Start" get winmo start menu) I usually turn it off myself.

I wanted to personally apologize to everyone for delays.
I thought after my daughter passed that staying busy would help. It did a lot but my head wasn't right and I had to step back several times. It's harder than I thought it would be. We're moving forward and releasing ROMs left and right now so all is better. Thanks to the great team things are moving forward.

My review of this rom is as follows:
1) Seems like it might be a 7510 rom as I do not have as many standard buttons to configure. Thus, out of the box, I can't us my comm manager button to bring up comm manager for example.
2) Lot's of apps installed - this is nice if you want all of these things. I generally prefer a lite version that I can install the latest versions of what I want or and add-on pack type of thing that I can download separate and install. Personally, once I find a good ROM I like to use it for a while and so making the investment of time to install a dozen or so apps isn't that troublesome.
3) Seems to be an older winmo 6.5 build. While using the latest and greatest doesn't always foster stability, there are some nice UI enhancements in some of the newer builds that are nice
4) Have some of the standard problems I've had with other roms around the phone - bluetooth connectivity gets "out of sync" for lack of better term and when you dial, for example, bluetooth is connected, but doesn't transfer or if you take a call, it answers on the phone and then trying to transfer to headset freezes the phone. The ROMs that avengerpenguin has been putting out do not have this problem.
5) Overall the stability seems to be good. Other than the phone issue I have not have to soft reset that often.
6) Browsing contents off the device (specifically the sd card) while connected via active sync breaks windows explorer (error encountered, restarts windows explorer) on Windows 7. Don't have this problem with other ROMs. Might be the same issue as the USB storage issue others have talked about.
I appreciate the effort and look forward to another release. In the mean time I am going to check out an alternative ROM.
Thanks,
McP

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.
Once we iron out any bugs we'll release a vanilla build for you guys as well. :)
We did try a newer build but it was terrible on Athena. By now we might have a more stable and newer build and might be able to update the ROM for the next build for you guys. :)
We'll look over the Bluetooth and phone issues you reported. Thanks for this info.
Thanks for the Windows Explorer issue reported as well. A weird one and we'll see what can be done about this.
Let's get the next build going and see what everyone has to say about it. :)
