There is an app in the HTC Home plugin that will allow you to select it and as you do it will change the brightness of your screen. There are about 5 settings before it restarts. How come this application is not available in M2D or ThrottleLauncher (at least I don't think it is). Although simple, this is very useful when moving from indoors to outdoors and vice versa. If this is not possible to have in M2D or ThrottleLauncher, are there any alternate apps out there?

Use MVBklight (http://www.pda4x.com/read.php?tid=83264), and map the MvBklPopup shortcut it creates to a hardware button :)

this is hands down the best and most convenient one out there. no matter how bright the the existing environment is, just hit that PTT button and you get your 4 levels of brightness

MVBklight can do the same. Personally I prefer the slider.
