... after a wrong change in shellres.dll.049.mui !
The hex editor seems not so good... Maybe I didn't use it properly.
Activesync cannot detect the mobile because of that change.
I have the right file on my computer and on my phone (in Temp folder).
I have not safe mode tool installed on the mobile.
I think that a hard reset is not useful because I changed a ROM file.
So, how to recover the file ?
Thanks for your help !

Try to reinstall the ROM

If Activesync will not read your phone, then perform a hard reset. The hex editor did not modify the original copy of the file stored in ROM, so that should work.
It also helps to say which phone you have...

The file I modified was marked as "ROM file" and I used ROMExtractor to make changes. So, where is the original file in the ROM ?
And how to re-install the original ROM if Windows desn't start ?
I also have the CD with the original WM6.

If Windows will not start, you should be able to enter the bootloader manually and flash from there. However, I do not have any experience with the Herald, so don't quote me on that.

What do you mean when you say "enter the bootloader manually" ? What is the bootloader ?
And what about "flash from there" ?
Does the bootloader allow to start the mobile with safe mode like a computer, with similar DOS commands ? That should be nice, mainly when we have a material kbd !
Because I need only to copy a file from a folder \temp to \windows ...

Ok for bootloader : I'm able to start the mobile with bootloader (with Herald, the key combination is Power+Camera+CommManager keys, without stylus).
So, I would like to only restore one file without installing WM. Is it possible to make a file copy from the mobile, or from a computer.
The computer now recognizes a connection to the USB port, but ActiveSync doesn't.

I have access to the mobile (starting with 3 colors stripes) from my computer. But how to access to the files on the device ?

I made a bad change in shellres.dll.0409.mui and my device (Herald) cannot boot normally. It is frozen on the Windows welcome page (WM6.0).
So, Activesync cannot detect the device.
I would like to copy the good file from my computer to the device, or to copy the good file which is still installed on my device in \Temp, to \windows.
Is it possible to do that with mtty, with the bootloader mode, or with another tool ?
I'm afraid that a hard reset is not useful because shellres.dll.0409.mui is a "ROM file" (ROM property checked, is it considered as the ROM component ?).
And I don't want to flash ou upgrade the ROM. It is Ok except shellres.
Thanks for your help !
