I get this too but I receive MMS messages. But! When I say I receive them...it's like hours to a day after the person sent the MMS. :(

Here do this step by step.

# 1

First, create several, new GPRS connections.

* Start > Settings > Connections > GPRS
* The first (named T-Mobile data) connects to WAP Network with an access point of wap.voicestream.com.
* The second (T-Mobile data 2) connects to Work with an access point of wap.voicestream.com.
* The third (T-Mobile MMS) connects to WAP Network with an access point of wap.voicestream.com.
* This third may be optional.

# 2

Second, create the proxies necessary.

* Done > More > Proxy
* The first (named T-Zones proxy) connects from WAP Network to The Internet with a Proxy of 216.155.165.50:8080 of type HTTP.
* The second (named T-Zones proxy 2) connects from Work to The Internet with a Proxy of 216.155.165.50:8080 of type HTTP.

# 3

Third, set up MMS (picture/audio messaging)

* Start > Messaging
* Scroll to MMS
* Menu > Settings > Menu > MMSC Settings
* Edit the sample or create a new setting file
* MMSC URL = http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
* WAP gateway = 216.155.165.50
* Port = 8080
* Connect via = WAP Network
* Use the maximum "Max. sending size" available. 300k is generally considered T-Mobile's maximum network allowance, but on a new ROM, it may require editing the registry to see anything above 100k in the dropdown menu here.
* WAP version = WAP 2.0

I'm just building off what you've said here, and I followed the steps on correcting the problem with MMS "error synchronizing." But it still does it, though it does seem to take some milliseconds longer to give me that message.
Considering the 100k limit on my phone, would it not download an image if it was larger than that?

Perhaps you could walk me through the registry editing process, or perhaps you know if t-mobile intends on releasing a 6.1 upgrade for the excalibur?

Thanks for any help.

I have the setting set up correctly, but I need to know if I need to delete the other two setting. There is one named HTTP-{3F...etc and another one that is named null-corp. Should they be deleted or left alone? I am asking because when I check my T-mobile bill online it shows entries for (0) data used on specific days that I know I was on the mobile web...I'm wondering if those extra proxy's are allowing them to see me using those dataports? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

This was extremely helpful, especially the second step, everywhere I looked seemed to say CLICK on MMS, not just highlight it and click menu... I couldn't find MMSC Settings... :o

On that note, I too would like to see the registry steps for making this larger than 100k if anyone has it...

Thanks again!

I don't know if anyone else was wondering, but I did remove the original proxy's that were on my phone after the RickyWatts upgrade and it did stop the tracking of my internet use. I wasn't being charged for it, but I did not want to be tracked either. All I have left in the proxy setting are the two T-Mobile proxy settings for the hack.

Also....I tried the registry change for changing the max load limit to 300k for MMS and could not get it to work. I did exactly what the post suggested, but when I was in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ArcSoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\MMSC Setting\SampleMMSC folder...I did not have a WAP1recvdefault that I could change. So I guess this was the reason I could not get it to work. I could not receive any MMS after trying this edit. Restore it back to original settings and everthing is working fine again, but only 100k max. Oh well....

Well after a 45 min call with tmobile and a series of test messages sent by them, it seems its hit or miss if I receive MMS. Should I reflash the phone?

I have the same issue. Anyone find a solution.

I can send MMS messages, and can even receive ones that I send to myself, but don't receive those from other carriers, or ones that I send from my email account.

Ok, can anyone explain this...
If I go to MMS and hit send/receive I get the syncing error.
But I can still receive MMS?

searching through old threads yesterday I came across a post that said send/receive only works with email not with MMS, thus the error.

I did everything everybody's post about on how to fix this stupid mms problem and my Dash is still being retarded and not matching up. Am I going to have to just reflash my phone and start from scratch?

I have the same problem, internet works, text msgs work, just the mms won't and I KNOW my settings are fine! I keep getting the "error synchronizing" message.. :( it seems to be a generic problem,not one with the network... no idea what to do

Its the main issue using a the cooked roms, its just easier to send/recieve them via e-mail. Ive had MMS work before on 6.1 then after a flash or master reset it dosent work at all. If you need to use MMS that bad just go back to the T-mo rom, if it dosent work with the correct settings it probly wont work at all. Ive been trying for months everyday trying to fing a solution and so far nothing concrete has worked. The best I can say is reflash until you get it to work or just live without it.

I have a suggestion though find the registry setting HKLM/Comm....PROVIDERS and find the T-Mo MMS and set the "always on" decimal from 0 to 1. See if it does anything. I am out right now and dont remember the whole path ill post it later.

I figured out my problem. I did all the steps they sayd but instead for leaving the name and password blank I put a . there instead. Now it works just fine. I still get the "error synchronizing" thing but at least now I can send mms messages. Plus I changed the sending/reveiving size to 300 like they say.

So perhaps I have retardedly helped fix something that's been a problem for months? lol Go figure. I was 2 seconds away from just giving up when I tried the . thing. If it does work then I'd share it with everybody so they can stop bitching that their MMS doesn't work.

I wonder why it never occured to anybody else to try the same thing. I mean I know jack about hacking a phone. I was just going based off what you guys had already done. Stupid luck I suppose. I hope it works for everybody else.

forget the registry mod just put the period in the user name and password slot in the T-Mo MMS in the connections/gprs settings.

Ugh, tried everything above and nothing works. I've got a notification sitting in my MMS folder, but when I click Download, nothing happens. Send/Receive gives an Error under some settings, other times I briefly get the 'downloading' envelope icon next to my signal bars, but then it disappears and nothing happens. Sigh. Any ideas?

Okay, I really hate to have my first post be a rather a noob of a question but it's not exactly the same issue as above. The information above however did resolve my issue with my MMS and I thank you all for the information.
Why is it now, that after flashing my ROM with the WM6.1 Kavana 080413 WWE that when I had re-sync’d to my work laptop I can no longer send/receive the “outlook” emails on my phone except when it is sync’d and attached to my laptop. This of course is useless as I might as well use my outlook on my laptop as well as I can't recieve emails on the phone if its not attached there is no point of having it even programmed. If I am not attached the send/receive is not selectable and it seems that in the CommManager I can no longer manually turn on DataPush. Is this my issue and if so how do I fix it?

Found the issue... they use IMAP4 but I needed to use mail. not imap. silly me.

OK, I have slightly different issues but I am hopeing you guys can help me out!

(just for info, this is on a second hand BT HTC phone which is unlocked and reset to factory settings by doing a hard reset)

Problem 1
When I go START MESSAGING - I have only Text and Email (no MMS)

Problem 2
When I follow the instructions you guys list in this link (changing to the Vodafone as listed elsewhere) when I edit the GPRS files and scroll down to the IP Address, entering numbers is fine but I cannot get the full stop to work - all I get is :

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
