I just got a new CDMA Treo Prom from Mexican carrier Iusacell. I'd gladly make a ROM dump for the archives if i knew how. I'll keep looking, but any pointers to instruction sets are welcome.

OK, here's the IUSACELL stock ROM.

It comes with OS 6.1 Pro 5.2.20765.1.4.4 , Software version T850EWW-1.02-IUS and Firmware 1.11.68F. It is, of course, in Spanish, albeit one of the worst translations for Windows Mobile. The ones for the PPC6000 and the Mogul were OK, why did they change them!

Also of note it shows 80.79 MB of memory! No wonder I can keep running everything with no slowdown.

Please mirror the file, as I'm not signing up for RS for this. If anyone needs the raw files, PM me.

Y recuerda usar como referencia una ROM válida de la TP. Yo usé la nbh del update de Sprint a 1.04

Short answer: so far, you can't.

The devices are setup to only accept signed updates from the manufacturers, which is why we need to come up with an SPL alternative so we can load cooked ROMs on out phones.

I've even tried direct write to the chip using itutils, but it's no go. Also, the ROM I posted just won't load on my phone for update, so I'm assuming they used an unsigned ROM somehow... I just get stuck on the ROM update progress bar at 0% with no progress several hours later.

Hopefully we'll be able to work something out soon.

It'not strictly necessary to flash a phone in order to have language changed....

This is a way to change language without reflashing the rom. The example is given in italian, but you can apply the same method for any language you need, provided that you find the correct language pack (or provided you can extract the relevant files from a rom dump).

Weeeell... I did manage to apply the English Sprint upgrade to the ROM to my Mexican carrier phone and get rid of all the branding, but it messed up my tethering and gps settings... AND I'm not able to flash back to the Mexican ROM image I took by pdocwrite from the phone as a backup...

I'll keep fiddling with the settings for the ROM and see if I can cook up a functional one...

Nope, data and GPS work just fine. I even have a backup of my registry and QPST settings if you want them.

Tethering was blocked at first bit I managed to unblock it by changing the username for modem connections from mode.iusamipevdo.com.mx to just plain old iusamip.evdo.com.mx.

And GPS required the TestGPS route, but that's usual in Treo pro's, from what I've been reading.

Please bear in mind that much of the IUSACELL network config is copied verbatim from the Sprint config (they each back each other up internationally) , so it might not work for others.

I knew about Sprint and Iusacell, but you scare me with the no data service upgrading to 1.04

I have downloaded the Sprint exe file. Is it just a matter of doing a hard reset, upgrade the phone and change some settings?

Please let me know. I'm a capable hacker, but this is my first Win Mobile phone.

Just DL the Sprint files and run the exe.

Afterwards, at least IME, data and service should be just fine, no config needed.

Alterations do need to be done with the QPST program to enable tethering. Only a single value needs to be changed, though.

As for GPS, I just installed the attached cab (I got the files from a TreoCentral post I think, no credit claimed) and imported the reg file to registry using Resco explorer. Afterwards, just run the program (it looks ugly on the pro, but it works) and it will speed up your GPS like nobody's business.

I did as you said and indeed, I have 1.04 on my phone.

I'm using WMVWiFiRouter as my tethering program and I didn't have to change any setting.

Also, I didn't have a problem connecting to the network using the cell phone.

I installed the GPS programs and now I have a working GPS unit!

I am also struggling to find a signed nbh (english or spanish) in order to reflash my new Treo Pro. I did this procedure with my previous Treo 750 and it worked fine (upgrading from WM 5.0 german to WM 6.0 spanish). Now I upgraded to Treo Pro - but the unit I bought in eBay comes again in German... Could some of you give me some hint of where to DL the Sprint file or even better a working spanish version? I understood the IUSACELL file you offered in above link is not working properly.
I am not a Hacker, so I am unable to do anything constructive with the Raw files :-( and I am afraid to convert my new Treo Pro into a brick.

The ROM I posted in this thread is in spanish. BUT, it's only for CDMA handsets. If your's is a GSM, you're out of luck until someone creates a GSM HardSPL.

I've update my treo pro from Sprint, install the .cab from palm's website, even i did the step by step in a guide i found, and i'm still having that trouble.

I can make calls, send or receive sms, browse the web from the phone, but anyone who calls me, go to the voicemail directly. Any help?

Hi, first of all, you have one of the coolest nicks I've seen in a while ;)

That IS the ROM I ripped straight from my brand new Iusacell Treo Pro. All other customizations (homepage, splash screen, theme, etc.) seem to be added after the fact.

I do have the RAW damp files I got from the dump, they´re also posted on this thread, if you care to look at them.

Me, I don't like the brand image, so I get rid of it all anyway. I assume you're looking to make a certain function (data, IUSA TV, tehering) functional. Let me know, I'll help you out. All of that is functioning properly with mine.

And you can choose your poison here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=102 There's now 6 ROMs to choose from with WinMo 6.1, 6.5 and 6.5.1, plus other more recent builds being added all the time.

I haven't experienced missed calls on any of those, but then again, I'm not on Sprint, so I can't really say for sure if it's fixed...

Also, read the threads to see what works in each ROM and what doesn't, since some of them had Internet sharing disabled and other had .NET CF problems. That has been mostly fixed since then in the newest releases.

Hi, try using the cab dcd made for setting up all the Iusacell specific values: http://dcd1182.n715dp.com/index.php?dir=titan/carriers/
It was made for the Titan, but all it does is setup data and other values in the registry and QPST configurations... then fire up PIE and see if they'll work.

What kind of errors are you getting? remember you have to change the HTCRom Tool settings for your current handset...

I'm not with Sprint, i got my palm treo from a seller in Mercado Libre, it's from Sprint, but i have it on Iusacell (in México) but it has that trouble. Somebody dial my number and go straight to the voice mail, i'm desperate jejeje i don't want to return to the Moto K1m again.

Yes, i got everything working just fine, SMS, Internet, even i can make calls, i took it to Iusacell Suport Center and the tech guy told me that is a software trouble, I unlocked it with the Hard-SPL of Cmonex and i flashed it with the rom of Iusacell posted in page 2 of this thread, nothing happen. I flashed it with WM 6.5 of CFay posted in ppcgeeks and again, nothing happen. I'm still having the same trouble, I can't receive calls from any phone. Any help?

Nop, it's a bug in the phone, palm has already released a patch, I patched it, and even like this, I keep having the same trouble, I'm thinking in return it to the seller. The guys from Iusacell, they all got one phone of this, and I didn't see they got this kind of trouble. Anyone? Any comment? Any help?

It sounds like your phone isn't getting recognized by the network... can you establish an EVDO data connection?

Anyways, my advice is to install the dcd iusacell cab I linked to a few posts back... wait.... here's the link again: http://dcd1182.n715dp.com/index.php?dir=titan/carriers/

If, after that, you still have the same problem, try, in this order:
a) updating your PRL: dial *228 and then select option 1, and option 5
b) updating your service programming? if not, dial *228 and then select option 1, and option 3
c) Authenticating your phone? if not, dial *228 and then select option 1, and option 4

Anyway, let me know If I can help... if you're in Mexico city, we can even meet up and give it a go...

Mmmm let's see. My phone is from Sprint. So, I can't dial *228 to update prl, reprogram the phone or authenticate the phone line. I can send or receive sms, establish EVDO internet connection and make calls. I mean, I have every service in Iusacell but I can't receive calls. :(

It's a bug from this specific phone model, and palm released a patch, but even installing such patch doesn't work. I would need a original and full working rom from Iusacell to test it, but I flashed my phone over three times with different roms and nothing changed.

I'm from Mexico country, from Tabasco state...

Hi,

I have a Sprint Treo Pro activated to work in Iusacell with the original ROM 6.1 I need help to get the RUU with WinMo6.5, I have tried BigE's ROM but the RUU stops right at 0% in the Treo, right after the multicolor screen.

Any other TreoPro ROM CDMA?

I have 2 main problems with my Treo:

1. It freezes at least once a day, I guess it does that because of the data conection. A soft-reset solves this problem

2. Once in a month I lost Data sessions forever, and I temporarily fix it performing a hard-reset.

I think a new ROM would help.

Any comments, suggestions are welcome, I live in Mexico City.

I wanted to test the spanish-LA rom created by kmm1972, but rapidshare came out with this
"This file is neither allocated to a Premium Account, or a Collector's Account, and can therefore only be downloaded 10 times"

If tested, in any scenario, would help be provided in case something goes wrong?

The windows still shows me in English, something I did wrong or do I miss

I have created the ROM file using the instructions in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603355). Uploaded to http://rapidshare.com/files/328134527/TreoPro.sp-LA.1.65.28.25.zip.html.

Para los que desean poner su palm en español en este post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=638483 elaborado por mord4z muy agradecido. Aquí están varias ROM entre ellas la que seguramente necesitas siguiendo los pasos indicados logre actualizar la mía. para los que les queda en error 262 o 260 es importante primero actualizar el SSPL siguiendo este post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=582774, lo logre de la siguiente forma copie SSPL-Manual-PantherGSM.exe en el dispositivo lo ejecute fue a la pantalla tricolor, lo desenchufe de USB lo conecte en otro puerto y luego ejecute desde el pc el Panther_CustomRUU.exe actualizo reinicio y luego logre meter la ROM en español. :)

Y mi problema es que no funciona correctamente.

He leído y buscado en Google pero no acierto con lo que le pasa.

Algunas veces, se queda "colgado" de manera que recibe llamadas pero no suena. En la pantalla aparece el icono de llamada entrante (el auricular con las bandas), en la descipcion de pantalla aparece el valor "estado llamada" pero no suena. Y así se queda aunque el llamante deje un mensaje en el buzón de voz o cuelgue. A posteriori, entra el SMS de aviso de mensaje, pero la pantalla queda igual.

Lo tengo actualizado a la última versión disponible de Windows Mobile 6.5 para Treo (cortesía de XDA developers).

¿Ideas, sugerencias? Estoy casi convencido que es algo bastante trivial, pero no se como arreglarlo.

I've changed the ROM to the most updated one in Spanish, but I have a problem with the telephone.

The Treo does not sound when an income call is entering. Just appears the icon as "telephone ringing" on the top of the screen, also a message on status bar "call status" but nothing happen.

If finally the caller puts a message on your answering machine, the telephone acts as "missing call advice" but you have a message. Then touch the telephone buttons (sometimes) or do a soft reset and everyhing working again until... ??

Anybody can help?

Después de una busqueda intensa en Google, he encontrado la solución.

Posteo por si solvento el problema de alguien en la misma situación.

De acuerdo a un post de forums.palm.com, parece que hay un problema de registro con el teléfono y por ello se vuelve silencioso (icono de teléfono entrante en la barra de status, mensaje "estado llamada" pero no sonido)
Ello es por un bug en el registro solventado con un parche pero desafortunadamente solo funciona con operador Spring (USA) En cualquier caso, en el mismo post haces un scroll y encuentras que entradas y que valores has de modificar.

Pero... Si tu registro está Ok que haces entonces? El teléfono sigue fallando!

En otro foro encontré una explicación aceca Treo Pro no soporta tonos de llamada más largos de 18 segundos. Recorté los que usaba pero no hubo éxito.

PERO... El problema no es la longitud: es el nombre. Si usas un nombre largo y con espacios NO FUNCIONA

Descargué un tono de 3'20" de una serie de Tv, lo renombro sin espacios y pocas letras Et voilà! FUNCIONA

Resumen: mira el registro y si está Ok, mira cuán largos son los nombres de los timbres que usas.

I've been doing a complete query on Google and I've found the sollution.

I post it here for helping (maybe) someone else with the same issue.

According to a post in forums.palm.com, it seems there was a register problem on the phone and that's why becomes silent when incoming calls. This is a bug fixed by a patch but unfortunately only for Spring (USA) mobile devices. Anyway with a scroll down on the same post you'll see which lines has to be modified.

But... If your registry is OK where's the matter, then? The phone keeps silent!!

On a forum I've found someone explaining Treo Pro does not support ringtones larger than 18 secons. So I've cutted mines but anyway, no sound

BUT... The matter is the name's ring file: large with blank spaces NO SOUND.

I did download a 3"20' ringtone from a Tv Show and renamed short & no blanks Et voilà! It works.

So, remember: check your register, and if it is not, see how large are the names from ringtones.
