Error [302] Update Error

I've tried to flash the rom to upgrade to WM6, but whenever it gets to 99% it give the Error[302] Update Error. I followed all the instructions found on this site, but now it simply fails each time I run the update. I think I've found some other threads that seem to indicate there's no hope and it has to be sent back to the manufacturer. Is this the case? Is it a paper weight?

What device, ROM, and IPL/SPL? (All this info should be in your signature)

You should probably start by searching the thread you downloaded the ROM from, since someone has probably come across this.
