How to Flash:

Run the auto.bat in the FLASH ROM folder follow the instructions, if you get stuck @ 3% please read this post and follow directions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2807194&postcount=485) before flash.

Hard-Reset after you flash to stop probable problems "If you didn't and have issues please Hard-Reset before posting"

Have attached how to change the size of your PagePool and the program needed to do this.
The pagepools is set to 12mb by default this means you only get 18.46 MB on boot of the device
But if you were to change that to 4.50mb this means you would get 27.48MB on boot of the device

All i can say is download the ROM give it a try this is not exactly the same as NRG's ROM and has lots of modifications and some sustancial improvements, we have not just taken 5 minutes to put this together over the last 2 weeks we have worked very hard to get this out to you "XDA USERS" it's not about who's ROM is better or tit for tat, it's about choice and you now have choice, just like you did before with Kavana & Ricky.
Give it a try doesn't take 20 mins to get phone flashed and up and running test it out then the choice is yours?

I installed it last night. It looks real good. I am having a problem with pop3 mail on the HTC Home in HTCEmail it shows 2 emails whenever I recieve a POP3 email. It works fine for Windows Live and Gmail (IMAP). I have discovered somewhat of a work around. If you delete the message that shows multiple times on the homescreen then go back and click on it again from the HTCEmail panel on the homescreen it will show the message in the deleted items folder. Then move it back into the inbox and the email notification on the HTCEmail panel is gone.

Open up COffice in Chome Config and it's got Word Excel etc, select edit when you have Word open and when save, save to a different location.

NRG I understand that you wanted no remix until the final version of your Rose Rom was finished but this whole project as a whole is kinda familiar.

I remember a mini-weather and showaco-outer weather with the same thing.

The bitterness and hatred are evident amongst some members of the Excalibur community. That goes along with any forum.

In my eyes if I can give you my perspective from what I am reading "This me against the world" thing is not the way to go. I just get turned off by all this dragged on fighting.

Is there any chance you can add the "SMS Pack" option that was in the older Ricky ROMs. I would like to start using this as my primary ROM - but there are a bunch of SMS's on my other S620 that I need to keep hold of.

OR - If there is a way to copy over the database containng the SMS's from the other S620 to this one I would love to know.

In mine opinion there is one little bug, et9 langauage isn't stay on the selected language. (for me Dutch)

Im using v1.5 and the "e" key opens CeleTask where you can choose comm manager and connect to wifi from there. Or you can just go to the setting panel and choose wifi from there. Hope that helps :)

In the CHome configurator you can choose either HTCMSMMS or CMessage. These will put message panels on your homescreen. Both of these options will allow you to send/receive sms messages. :)

The way i turn off the sound on bootup and all the other silly blips is Settings\Sounds Warnings none, Question none, Exclamation none then Profile\Normal Edit System sound volume off

Is there a built in weather app? Is sms threaded? Can you watch youtube videos? I would like to know before I try it out, becuase I really like what I have right now, but I am always into trying new things:)

I did look at the first page, and I downloaded the .txt. file of changes. But it only told the difference between versions of this rom, and not Kavana's..
In your opinion, is it better than Ricky's version of Kavana's??

What i will say is that "better" would be the wrong word to use....this ROM is an advance on Rickys last ROM and because he has worked closely with Stylez on this ROM makes it look and feel alot nicer :D

I flashed this rom last night. I'd been using Kavana's 6.1 and this is a nice evolution. Very good job to NRG, Ricky and Stylez. I can't donate any money right now but I can say that if I could I would because you guys put a lot of time into these roms and apps and it is greatly appreciated.

Re: Messaging etc in one panel, someone else wrote this on NRG thread so thanks to them would put name but i just draged from a .txt i took of it.

For anyone like myself who likes the new "HTC Home" home screen, but likes a single noitification panel instead of 3 of them, here is a simple change to the XML for the home screen.

First connect your phone to your PC using ActiveSync.

In ActiveSync, click the [Explore] button.

Go to the "\Application Data\Home" folder

The file is called "HTCSlidingPanel.home.xml". Copy it over to your PC, and open it with a text editor.

Look for the line specifying the Plugins ...

<Plugins Order="CClock;CAppointments;CHome;HTCSMSMMS;HTCEMA IL;CWindowsLive;HTCWeather;HTCFavorite;HTCMUSIC;CW elcomeCenter;Settings" CPRFileName="HTCSlidingPanel" SMSMMSOverride="true" EmailOverride="true" >


Note this has references to HTCSMSMMS - the panel for SMS and MMS notifications - and HTCEMAIL - the panel for EMAIL notifications.

In addition, at the end of the line you can see [SMSMMSOverride="true" EmailOverride="true"] - these are the flags to tell CHome not to display SMS/MMS/Email notifications in it's panel.

If you delete [HTCSMSMMS;HTCEMAIL;] and [SMSMMSOverride="true" EmailOverride="true"] then the CHome panel will display all the notifications as it does in the older Sliding Panel home screens.

My personal preference is also to have the Notifications above the Appointments on the home screen, so I reordered those. You can order then as you wish.

The Plugins line should now look like this ...

Save the file on the PC, then copy it back to the phone.

Re: Opera Mini we not been able to do that and have spent many hours trying to, the core is different than the WM6.1 previous ROM so some things are not compatable.

I mean when you are setting up connectivity to tmobile. I choose usa then tmobile and do a restart but when phone turns on and I go to connect to internet or any program that uses the internet it says I don't have connectivity. Its weird it didn't do this till today.

What is the custom font problem? I'm still using the origional Kavana 6.1 Rom. I switched font to a custom made Chinese font called SofiaSans. Everything in Opera Mini rendered nicely with that font.

The Rose jbed does not allow the use of customized fonts with Opera Mini without displaying a cutom font, not always does everything render nicely as you will find if you look about the forum for Opera Mini font issues, i notice your still using a Sans font, with the old jbeds you could work around this by placing #tahoma in the win dir and rebooting as Opera Mini read the first font in the Win Dir, this is not the same for Rose Jbed, the font on Opera would have been unbearable as it was reading capture it.ttf from the 5 fonts plus the original on the switch.
So we have used an update on the original jbed for this reason so as people can tweak there phone more :)

I've had reduced battery life with all the installs I've tried of Rose (both NRG and the Ricky/Stylez versions)
The ROM is great but the battery issues are keeping me from leaving it on my phone.
I've seen a smattering of others saying the same thing. I didn't have any issues with prior Kavana/Ricky builds and no issues since I've gone back....thoughts?

I'll definitely look out for this in the future. All I need to know now is how to change the font size of the phone. When I use HTC Home, the font size is normal, but music is played by default with HTC's AudioManager. When I use the regular sliding panel media, music is back to the default Windows Media player, but the font size is bloated again. Oh and i still can't find your numerous additions.

I am also a Dash and Wing owner and It has been so long since I have flashed my Dash it took me a least 4 trys to get it! LOL! My Wing is hard slp'ed and I flash it like three times a week, way different! Nice to know I am not alone! :)

I like it as well. One thing I don't like, though, is that I can't scroll through the songs from the home screen by simply hitting left or right while on that particular panel. :(

You can if you use CMusic with WMP.. It's using HTCMusic with AudioManager that prevents the track scroll on panel.

Does anyone know how i get the text messenger, to detect numbers in incoming messages and then insert the contact into the message. Previous roms i have used do this (rickys). I dont have voicemail right now and i get missed call texts that are very useful, but not so much when i can't see the persons name.

It's in the Slidingpanel_320x240.cpr just change from <!-- HomeHome==Clock layout templates --> all references of "Bold" to "Regular" you will then have the same standard font size as the HTC Home :)

This would help, but is there not just a reg edit I could do. I'm running 1.5 and already have opera mini installed, don't need the default browser choice, just the long press for the IE key. If there are no other changes, then I'd rather just stay with 1.5, since I've reflashed about 10 times in the past 2 days. Just getting a little lazy about getting everything back like its supposed to be. Thanks in advance.

did something stupid, i flashed the 1.6 version, but then i restored my whole system using spb backup.

The default browser etc is built into the ROM via .ccs so the best you can do is reflash and add all your programs again, i know it's an inconvenience to have to install everything again but once done it's done, Ricky and i have flashed so many time over the last 3 weeks that it's just become second nature, i only just managed to set my device up fully last night in 3 weeks and am thurully enjoying the new ROM :)

A couple of questions regarding reflashing the ROM :-

1. Instructions for flashing say take out Storage Card before starting. But to my knowledge, UC requires finding a configuration file on the Storage Card in order to customize the device. Am I right in this - or did I miss something ?

2. Assuming the Storage Card is needed, can I pop it in between the flash and the device starting up for the first time? OR at the point where it first asks to press OK to restart device ?

3. If one of those methods works, can anyone point me to a starter UC file for the Excalibur - one that would set Owner Information, Regional Settings, and install a couple of apps.

You really shouldn't even notice it if you reboot and just let the phone do a full load, it doesn't happen to all...
Nothing we can do about it as NRG says it's noticed widespread with Rose. Just to add you will probably find that it doent happen after you get the first load :)

I've only seen this happen with NRG's 1.3 Rose and now with the 1.5 Remake.

While using the phone one of the screens with become frozen. It completely overlaps the home screen. I can pull up Celetask using the shortcut key and end the application but the home screen is still borked. For awhile I can pull up Celetask but nothing I do will get the home screen back to normal. I then have to hold the power button down for a minute or more (literally) to have the phone shut off.

When the phone comes back up I see my wallpaper. It sits there for a bit and then I get the Windows Mobile loading animation (lil red, yellow, green, and blue circle). It spins for awhile and goes away but there are no panels. Nothing. Just the taskbar and wallpaper. I can pull up Celetask but if I were to just hit Start nothing would happen. The screen(s) will just glitch/clip. The phone seems to work fine all day and at some random point this happens. The last time it did I had to flash the phone.

It also appears that I can open Resco using a shortcut key as well and from there I can run applications but screens after that will lock up. I can only get back to celetask and Resco. I have the phone OC'd to 240 using OMAP...could that be it?

Have no idea what you have done? Have you messed with the .cpr etc or maybe installed something you shouldn't, the only thing i can say is reflash as it should not be happening and has not happened to anyone else, so it's not the ROM @ fault here...

After that it's MyFaves which I've edited to match my five. Then comes SMSMMS, Home, Appointments, Weather, Photos, Music, Programs, and Settings.

When I flashed I noticed that both the MyFaves and Programs panels had 13+ pages. Programs had 8 pages that were all Word. I deleted those pages and ever since an hour or so ago it's been fine. Through a few reboots even.

If you use CHome Config you can hide the weather panel. Just save your changes after :) hope that helps.

I dont know if this is a bug or something I am doing. It worked for a while then it started happening. When I start Audio Manger from either the start menu or the home screen plugin it would lock the phone up to the point I have to pull the Battery.

I thought so too. Unfortunately I had just made a backup of the .CPR after making the changes.

I've flashed to 1.6. All is well. However, it's impossible to add a photo to an Outlook contact. If I try it pulls to my docs in an explorer view but nothing populates and if I hit Menu all I see is the top of the menu "1 View".

Also, while trying to set icons for apps in the MyPrograms panel the explorer will respond slowly and the default icon will flash for a few before actually showing the icon image. It doesn't break anything. I can still set images for panels. Just seems clunky. It's the setting a pic to the contacts that worries me. It did the same with NRG's 1.3 and yours and Ricky's 1.5.

One thing I am doing differently now is storing all of my custom icons under My Documents\My Icons on the device rather than the storage card. Before I had the panels looking to the storage card for their icons. I don't know if this would cause the issue or not but I'm just centralizing the icons and trying to play it safe. I haven't even changed the font of the time. Just the size and position.

Hopefully nothing goes wrong.

Putting the .png icons on the phone is much faster for the phone to access another thing to take into accout is the .png size you want about 64x64 or even less less data to read @ once.

I've noticed something interesting about battery life and this ROM.

I don't think the battery is draining faster, but I do think the reporting of the battery level might be off.

I started off at 92%, rebooted a few times and the phone reported 100%. About an hour later it was in the 80's, which is where it should have been.

edit your profiles and increase "System Sound" to 4 or loud.

It works also on 1.6.
As soon as I put a picture in "\My Documents\My Pictures", it stops working (always returning to first pic), so it must remain empty.

I re-added et9 files and .reg from the NRG release to have Italian et9 working, anyone suggest a better alternative?

A few questions for you if you know the details :-

Are 12 and 4.50 the only options - or can you use sizes in between too ?

Is it just the actual executable code that goes into that area - or if the executing code creates memory blocks, are they also stored within that area ?

Is this area used for system processes too - or just user processes ? For example- right now if I use the HTC Task Manager Application View I have maybe 2.5M of processes running, but if I switch to Process View, other processes like device.exe, gwes.exe, filesys.exe,etc. are running and the total is more like 20MB. Now I assume much of these would be non-swappable anyway - but do any of those processes get swapped ? If not - I can see that a pool of 8MB would be loads for my typical use.

dont reboot after the unlock runs as it may instruct also
make sure your running auto.exe
and you see the dos box!

not sure but sounds like your running an app prior to the auto.exe??
skip that step and only run auto.exe and see if that will let it load!

1 power down the device.
2 hold the camera button while inserting the usb cable.
3 run auto.exe ignore the errors about it trying to copy files to the phone and all

I had a similar problem flashing to v1.6. Kept getting a "corrupt image" error. Being the "expert ROM flasher" that I am :rolleyes:, with many successful flashes under my belt, I download again, raced trough flashing several times, and always hit the same wall. I ran the Appunlock every time, but still could not complete the flash. Then I decided to slow down and try again, reading every step, like a noob. Guess what... I was skipping a step. I was not clicking the center button on the Excalibur to accept the file run on the device install like it clearly states in the batch command window. I was just reading the "Press any key to continue" at every pause to continue the commands, never looking at the device screen. Flash finally went smoothly and I am now on v1.6.

I don't know if this is what is happening to you... but the OP clearly says "Run the auto.bat in the FLASH ROM folder and follow the instructions (emphasis mine)". Lesson learned. I am so ashamed. :o .

It could be that your battery is dieing, or losing its power. Are you still using the stock battery that was provided with the phone?

No, it's a 4mo old battery, OEM.

Since I'm currently running this ROM, I'll post my results here:

I have 2 Tmobile Dash phones, One is running Rose Ricky/Stylez 1.6 and the other is running T-Mobiles stock 6.0 ROM. Battery is 4 months old, I started with a partial charge just to measure the difference in percentage reporting.

Battery in Dash running 1.6 reported 80%
Moved battery to Dash running Tmo stock 6.0, reported 70%
Moved battery back to Dash running 1.6, reported 79%

Now, the question I have is, Is the ROM reporting the battery level off, or is it just roughly 10% better in battery efficiency?

I guess it could be that the new ROM is just that more efficient, it's not some wild variance, it's a little higher then I expected, but not completely out of range.

Anyone with experience in this, please tell me if I'm completely wrong. :)

Thanks for working that out good gain indeed doesn't sound like alot when quoted in mA but when converted to hours sounds much better, i'm using a 1550mAh and get about 3-4 days out of it but then there is always the part charge from active sync etc :)

I don't think they can be stopped from loading but have you tryed terminating the task with CeleTask after boot.

Weather app only uses = 200kb

If you want to deactivate the weather from loading at boot up, change the following on the registry

\HCU\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Apps\HTCSlidingPane l and delete the value in Module.

Be aware that doing some mistake in the registry can force you to hard reset your phone.

If you follow the instructions you will get 27MB ish @ bootup, you will have to reflash but well worth it :)

I believe the phone is running out of RAM memory, try to close all the unnecesary apps before running the camera...

There isn't a 6.1 ROM that displays German language, but the keys can be mapped correctly to work with German keyboard layout via eT9.

I flashed this ROM into a replacement Dash I got from TMobile. It's very fast and has a lot of nice features. I like that incoming call interface very much. Unfortunately I also have that high battery drain issue. My phone went from 95% charged to 60% in just 2 hours. I will try to disable that Weather function and see if it improves.

You can change the colour with basehue you don't see the change on basehue screen but you do when you go back to home screen, but it does just do the home screen bar...

Iv installed the v1.6 rom onto my phone 4 times and the original v1.3 twice and get different results each time. I have noticed with my phone the installs that have battery issues also have menu hanging or comm manager issues or freezing while scrolling through the contacts or during a call. Hard resetting corrected the problems (except the battery) but the same problem would return within 24 hours. I currently have installed v1.6 with the pagepool change and things have been running smooth for 2 days. My battery stays at 100% for 4-5 hours and was at 82% before I charged it for the night. I don't understand what changes between each install but I just thought it was interesting.

Thank you for a very fast ROM for the S620. However, I have two issues:

1. The phone no longer vibrates. If I flash back to the NRGZ28's 'Rose' Rom V1.3, the phone does indeed vibrate when I modify the profiles.

2. The weather app does not work. Yes, I do have a valid data plan, and my phone is properly setup for GPRS/EDGE connectivity. When I go to select a city, the app does not retain the setting.

I also stated to notice that the screen will go all white when it's about to go dark for power saving. Any ideas?

It's Mini that installs, the process goes Extras install Opera Mini, now go to start menu and click on Mini Opera and Opera Mini will install once installed, the Mini Opera is a shortcut to open Opera Mini :)

Sussed i use smarttoolkit, type it in a search on here and i gurantee one will lead to rc08 version, install to phone mem as u want it to load @ start up, you will get an XP like start menu 2 :)
