How to change the menu bar (softkey) height?

I found registry entries to change the font size of the softkey letters, but I would like to change the actual height of the bottom of the menu bar.

I want to do this in hopes that I can get my Today plug-ins to fit without the scroll bar. I just need the bottom menu bar to be a few pixels lower.

Does anyone know of a registry change that can make the softkey menu bar lower/shorter?
