NEW, Need Advice, Simple Question

I just bought a USED TYTN Pro. The person i bought it from put his own rom on there. What I would like to know, is if I decide to change to a different COOKED rom, do I have to follow all steps in the newbie guide? Or can I skip ahead because he already has a cooked rom in there and may have already done some steps.

I tried to do the reset and i dont get a tricolor screen, i just get

look at the stickies, the 4th one, (hard spl), look at the FAQ to enter bootloader
Get into your Bootloader (hold down camera+power buttons while inserting stylus for approximately 3-5 seconds). It should show SPL-3.28.Hard or SPL-3.29.Hard on the second line of text on your screen. If not then you didn't flash the new HardSPL, try again.

You should be able to get to the Tri-Color screen. What are you doing to get to the screen? Try holding the Power & Camera buttons and press reset. Keep holding the Power/Camera buttons until you get to the bootloader (tri-color) screen.

All you need to do is make sure the device is HardSPL. If it is, then you can flash other ROMs.

Looks like you've flashed Hard SPL once. If yes, from now on, you can directly proceed with the flashing of new ROMs right after download.

The Kaiser is much better in form and function. You should always know what you're getting yourself into PRIOR to purchase (A newb mistake). I'm sure Mods will move this... somewhere :)

Second, the questions you ask are subjective.

Yes, the Kaiser is a newer model and has additonal features but there are users who swear by the older models. In fact there are apps the work better on the Hermes and even the Wizard than the Kaiser (gotta love video driver issues!).

I would suggest you do some research, this forum is a great place to start. You've got a lot of reading to do, don't expect to be spoon-fed here check the links in my signature so keep your self out of trouble (especially the What is XDA-Devs).

i got the hermes 200, just flashed with some manilla rom, works great. just 5 questions i couldnt find answers to;

1)Had a nokia n95, exported phonebook to .CSV and .TXT, how do i get that into this phone?

2)I was shown the gps receiver working, but since i flashed dont know how to get satellite aquisition

3) Anyway i can use mp3 for Text alert and Alarm?

4)(Manila2D) V.20 Build 20921 by PhamQuang is what im using, is it the best for manilla 2d?

5) Where can i get voip sw to work with the above rom

1st, you need Hard SPL V7 on your Hermes to be safest when flashing new roms...
1. Manually enter. You could also bluetooth across if the contacts are still in the n95.
2. Pair the receiver. then go to advanced. assign a serial port ( I use 4). Next, at the bottom of the screen, pick com ports. Pick set new then highlight the GPS receiver. Assign port number you want (some ports aren't available as the Hermes uses these.). Open the GPS software you use (I use Tomtom) and select the port you are using. Violla. Good to go.
3. There are some apps available but I can't remember what they're called, do a search.
4. Don't use Manilla.
5. Don't use voip.

You need to search as these things have been answered. try a combination of keywords if you don't get a hit straight away.
