I'm using an Athena (got it 2 days ago) with AP4.0
I had the wifi problem and solved it by myself with cmonex instructions.
I couldn't find a solution for the new problem I have: in USB to PC I select "As a Storage Device" and when I plug my Athena to my PC, the miniSD is connected as a Mass storage device.
I would like to use the Microdrive as a mass storage device.
How could I change this ?
If I remove the miniSD, there is no mass storage device that pops up on the pc.

I don't know if USB to PC has that option, but I do know WM5torage has the option that allows you to select the Microdrive. I know it isn't exactly what you are looking for, but you might give it a shot and see if it scratches your itch.

Thanks ! I just tested and it's working fine !
Well, for the beauty of finding a solution, you can still help me with the usbtopc program but I consider the wm5storage as an excellent solution !
edit: well actually WM5storage is giving me some trouble. I can't copy big files (350 Mo) directly and the device appears as empty on the computer after a failed transfer of one of those big files...
edit2: the solution might be there, I'll report after testing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2176131&postcount=3
edit3: it's getting worse... activesync doesn't work anymore. My Usbtopc is switched back to activesync and I get an "attention required" message in activesync :
"Connection not valid: Cannot open the connection "57600 Default". This connection is no longer valid or does not exist. Select a different conenction and try again."
However in the options, the selected and only choice is USB.
Am I screwed ? Should I reflash the ROM ?
Once I sort this ActiveSync/USBToPc thing, I still have the will to have the french keyboard layout (I don't care about the OS language but I do about the hard keyboard layout).
If I reflash, should I choose :
- 5-21-08 UPDATE!! AP4 VANILLA 4 SPL1.2 Windows Mobile 6.1 for spl 1.2 and 3.5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2176131#post2176131
- HTC French WM6 ROM SPL 3.5 - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9Y2SRNVN (from the same page)
- Athena Project Official ROM and SPL 3.5 upgrade - The Final Release http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387409
What's the difference between the 1st and the 3rd ? I use the 3rd, would it be better to flash the 1st ?
The 2nd is an official rom ? It's more stable ? Is it still WM6.1 ?
Thanks and sorry for being such a noob, I was using a Trinity before and the Athena is more complex on many aspects.

I will suggest to flash AP4 to have SPL 3.5, then upgrade to the latest Michy 6.0 if you like the manila 2d interface, or MICHY 5.1 to have a fast and stable, full optional, ROM .
I've tested ALL ROMs here, and My athena is almost perfect in the 5.1, SPL 3.5, Michy's ROM

Damn, sorry my suggestion messed up your ActiveSync. I have never had that problem with WM5torage...
Anyway, I have two suggestions:
1) I recommend flashing only as a last resort. Everyone here is really helpful, but there is always a small chance that you will brick your machine in the process. Try other things first - uninstall WM5torage and softreset; or even a hardrest. If you flash with a different ROM you will lose your hardware keyboard settings.
2) If you do flash, I suggest you make a note of your hardware keyboard registry settings. Then after you flash you can reset them. I searched a little for information on where they may be, but I can't seem to find much.
I speak from experience. I flashed and lost my hardware keyboard settings (Japanese). Luckily, I hate my hardware keyboard and never used it anyway.
As far as ROMs, Sergiopi is right. 3.5 to AP4, then Michy's. Personally, I use 4.1. Both 4.1 and 5.1 are almost completely bug-free, stocked with useful software, and super-fast. I turn off sounds for events, turn off all today screen items, and almost every button I press gives smooth, instantaneous results.

Thanks for your help, I flashed Michy 5.1 and I have to say it seems to be a good rom !
I could chose the french hardware keyboard layout with an embedded utility.
Still have some wifi issues (not the same so it might be my personnal network) and I mistakenly sync'ed my windows live contacts with my outlook contacts which is annoying.
Anyway, thank you !
