View Full Version : Opal Hard-SPL

well i made this a while ago, and finally got around to get it fully tested and release it.
this HardSPL is based on version 1.26 SPL. and is version 2 (2.00.cmon). also i *think* this one will not hard reset the phone
it's for any OPAL***** modelid now,
thanks to wlinsong and PhamQuang for testing :D
instructions:
0a) make sure you have .NET framework installed on your PC! if not, get it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=333325fd-ae52-4e35-b531-508d977d32a6&DisplayLang=en
0b) if you have vista, WMDC update is recommended: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx
1) download Hard-SPL package from attachment, extract to an empty folder (Opal_HardSPL_v2_0.zip).
2) you must have the phone synced with your PC, i.e. device must be in Windows Mobile!
3) run Opal_HardSPL_v2.exe.
4) follow steps in the RUU, and check on the device for prompts after PC shows loading bar.
5) device should go to a grey screen
6) go on with RUU, Hard-SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done.
7 ) to confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 2.00.cmon
+1: if the screen won't go to grey mode (SSPL), then try manually entering SSPL by using the Opal-SSPL-Manual.zip - run the EXE on the phone then when it went to grey screen, run the HardSPL exe on PC and flash.
finally, donations are always appreciated to the "To Cmonex" link in my signature
now, enjoy the hardspl and cooked roms :D
UPDATE: How to flash stock SPL back for warranty purposes - please use this only if you need to return device for repair!
steps:
0. first flash entire stock ROM, then after that you can flash stock SPL as *last step*. do not reverse this flashing order please
1. get the RUU_Signed.NBH file from attachment (opalstockspl126.zip (185.3 KB))
2. run hardspl package from attachment (Opal_HardSPL_v2_0.zip)
3. *after* Opal HardSPL EXE extracts files, replace extracted RUU_Signed.NBH with the one from opalstockspl126.zip i.e. when asked to overwrite, say Yes, if it doesn't ask, then you are trying to copy it before running the HardSPL EXE, which is the wrong order.
4. flash just like you flashed HardSPL (see original instructions above)
5. device reboots, you can now check if it says 1.26.0000 or still 1.26.cmon or 2.02.cmon, in the latter case you did something wrong, it has to show 1.26.0000.

Heihei~~ Just read the guide instruction carefully, I have fixed the problem.
And currently, I flashed a HK Rom code on my device.
However, I found a new issue. The this device has Compatibility with the BT ear price. I'm using a Itech D-Clip Radio one. When the call is coming, the call will be actived. But after the call, the BT connection will disconnect.
Any one has idea about this? Thanks a lot to all. :)

how do i check modelid?
see bootloader screen (tricolour) it will say OPAL100 or similar... if the number is 100 then ok. if not, post in this thread
EDIT: oops, possibly for opal there is no modelid displayed there (could someone verify - i dont have an opal). use getdevinfo in mtty. but easiest is just try the spl package and if you get modelid error, post.

All phones have an SPL. This allows you to upgrade the ROM on your phone. However the SPL's that the phone comes with only allows you to flash ROMs that match the Carrier ID (CID) on your device, and the ROM image must be digitally signed.
Hard SPL's remove the CID checking and signature checking.
Also they cannot be accidentally removed if flash a new carrier SPL.
So, you can flash Opal ROM's made by any carrier or any of the custom ones you find.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Dave

ONBL means onenand bootloader (it's like IPL).
all of you who are getting error 244, are you making sure the device is activesynced when running the hardspl EXE on your PC? what does the bootloader screen look like _when_ you get this error 244? is it a grey screen or tricolour?

Same here.
Htc is fully synced with Active Sync. After i start the HARD SPL, the screen is grey and i get the 'INVALID VENDOR ID' error.
At the moment I can't use the phone at it's full potential because the ROM is in Chinese and i don't know the language.
Any upgraded HARD SPL to support the ONBL ? :)

Nope sorry dint work for me. Ran the manual one followed by Ruu. Just get a white screen, then activesync is disabled. Have to turn on/off the phone. Mine is SPL 1.22
Would appreciate it if Cmonex could look into this problem. Think a couple others experiencing the same Error 244: Invalid Model ID error as well.

if you have the modelid error, i.e. error 244, then probably your Opal isn't OPAL100 (OPAL10000). for some reason I had that set in the HardSPL file, you can try one I'll attach to this post.
flash it using same process I posted in 1st post for stock SPL flash, with the important difference that the RUU_Signed.NBH you use comes from the attachment in this post (HardSPL126_anyOPAL_Test.zip)
note that some modelid differences mean actual differences, though usually it is fine. but if you are unsure, you can wait for someone else to test :)
please let me know if it helped,
donation is always appreciated! :)

great about HSPL :)
as for the italian rom, it is for different modelid again.. (OPAL10000)
you can rebuild the NBH for OPAL***** modelid and that will flash OK. any NBH tool will work for that, if you are unsure, I can explain how to use them. (I would do this myself but my upload bandwidth is too slow to upload such a big ROM right now)
of course I can make a HSPL that only checks first 4 letters ("OPAL" only, and not the numbers) even if there are no wildcards in the NBH, so you don't have to rebuild the italian or any other opal rom. but I don't have the device, so you would need to test that for me before I release it. can we talk on MSN? send me a PM with your MSN acc :)

Starting from HSPL that you posted on the frirst page, using nbhtool I extract the nb files, then with htc rom tool (model ID OPAL120** and country id 11111111) i rebuild the nbh file, and run HardSpl..... ALL it's ok :) ...

But when I do the same thing with the Italian Rom eappears the error 270 corrupt files ...
I have some step wrong?
I sent you my msn address by MP
Hi....
I have already slove this problem. you just need to use nbhtool extract(model ID use OPAL*****)...the nbh file, and use this nbh to run RUU.

I'll have a guess that you don't have the MS .net framework 3.5 installed.

Hello,
2 fast questions :
-> Do I loose the currenly installed ROM (the official one) and datas when using the Opal Hard-Spl tool ? I think no, but when I start the tool, I can read "This update will delete all the information on your PDA phone" ... So I am a little scary ... Can sbd gives me a clear answer about it ?
-> Is there a way to fully backup my running rom (official) with ALL MY DATAS (like making an image of it) - So i can restore it anytime ...
Thx,
Guillaume

if you have the modelid error, i.e. error 244, then probably your Opal isn't OPAL100 (OPAL10000). for some reason I had that set in the HardSPL file, you can try one I'll attach to this post.
flash it using same process I posted in 1st post for stock SPL flash, with the important difference that the RUU_Signed.NBH you use comes from the attachment in this post (HardSPL126_anyOPAL_Test.zip)
note that some modelid differences mean actual differences, though usually it is fine. but if you are unsure, you can wait for someone else to test :)
please let me know if it helped,
donation is always appreciated! :)
HOW i can use this attached File with HardSPL?
I put your file in the HardSPL-Folder and start HardSPL, but i always get the ModelID-Error.

Between steps 4 & 5 (from the 1st post) replace the RUU_Signed.nbh in the current folder with the one that you download from cmonex's post.

Hi everybody, im new over here.
I´ve readed the entire thread and decided to update mi rom, following every step that Alant posted, and it worked perfect...but here´s my problem:
-once i got the new rom running, i´ve tried to restore some system settings from a sprite backup file that i made before installing this ROM. When this process is done sprite restarts the system automatically, and it crashes in the first screen ("smart mobility" screen) every time.
Is this a compatibility problem, or simply i just f**ked up??
Is there any solution to this problem??
In the "smart compatibility" screen my parameters are:
ONBL 1.26.0000
SPL 2.00 cmon
GSM 03.29.90
OS 1.27.0.0

Good day. I'd like to ask if ever the ROM is installed, will it remove the sim lock or network lock from the unit(htc Viva T2223)?

to to share something..
i've also got the error invalid model ID etc.. when trying to flash my viva with roms. it turns out it was with the ROMS. i downloaded all the latest ROMS from the front page , but all of them gave me invalid model ID errors or reboots at 2% progress. so i went a bit further back, and the older ROM's worked perfectly.
If anyone is having the same problem. try this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=494460
it worked for me while nothing else would. oh.. you should change the date to something like the year 2000 .. otherwise it will show as expired
cheers.
