Reasonnably confused noob

After reading the specific noobs stuff i am still confused with reason. Nobody explains what isa Ruu or SPL or IPL... i don't even grasp the concept of flashing the wing. i understand that there is no quick fix and development is hard work...
When i got my wring i was stunned that it can't play MP3, opera and Morphgear complains about memory. I understood that tmobile cripples the phone...so i wanted the original WM6 to get my ram back. Can someone tell me what are spl,ipl and ruu and how to check whati have on my device? cuz i want to follow this guide to wm6

Also do any of you have snes and gba fullspeed with sounds? Do opera mobile give u a hastle? Tremendous thanks and thnx for understanding :)

OK well I cannot answer your RUU SLP IPL Questions..... But yo see what version you have of IPL / SPL simply turn you phone offf, then turn back on while holding the camera button. Then you weill see a bootloader screen which displays the version info. I do not know how Opera works with all ROMS but I know it complained of memory issues with the TMo stock ROM on it. I HardSPL'ed and flashed to Open Touch 7.7 Lite.Click here for info on OTP7.7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2792546&postcount=4) And now Opera runs great. Plus its got WM6.1 which I wanted for Threaded SMS. Also I have both a SNES and A GBC running great on it WITH SOUND lol! I have a GBA emulator but havent gotten any roms to test it out. But all in all I think a custom ROM will solve your issues. (I THINK that the IPL and SPL's are similar to kernal files on a PC or PSP. But im not positive) If you decide you wanna HardSPL your device and install a custom ROM, let me know I'll be glad to help.

As far as Opera, try Opera Mini instead, it's sooooo much faster.
