Upgrade to WM6.1 from dferreiras WM5SE

I've been using dferreiras WM5SE but would like to try WM6.1 like J.VD.Spanks and others.

1) What is the recommendation procedure on upgrading a upgrade?

2) Since I'm already unlocked, can I just flash on top or should I start from scratch with the love button and T-mobile rom then flash?.

3) Is there a way to back-up my existing set-up just in case I want to go back?

1. Some say it's better to re-flash an official rom before another custom.
2. You can just flash on top, no need to repeat the procedure.

what kind of data, do you mean PIM (contacts, SMS, Appointments, etc..) then use Dotfred's PIM Backup (http://www.dotfred.net/) :)

Thanks for the replies.

I was going to sync with my laptop but I've made many changes with my contact information on the phone and I wasn't sure if it would revert to my older contact list.

I've also decided to start from scratch just so its a clean install.
