I've been searching around the forum for the past few days to find an answer to the question i have had for a long time.. But the only thread i could find, with just about the same question, had no replies..
I don't want to be annoying and create threads, But since i haven't actually bought the phone yet i don't understand half of it haha.

Anyway.. My questions is>

You can set up internet on the phone by typing stuff like proxy/APN and it will work even overseas?

POP3 e-mail account can be set up and work overseas too?

Anyway! I read about the unlock.
I'm not sure what is post or pre april? And what phones are unlockable.

I will be buying it of a japanese auction site.. And i've looked at a few auctions, one of them says
Radio version : 1.14.00.10
Another says
Radio version : 1.16.00.00 (both of these are used phones)

Will i be able to unlock these? I would like to keep the language Japanese (because i need that to write e-mail to my girlfriend in Japan)

If so, how? just by the USB cable, and buy the unlock from http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3100unlock.php? Or what :)?
Please don't give me link to the unlock thread and tell me to read it.. i've read it and didn't understand most of it :/

Radio version : 1.14.00.10 is not possible to unlock, unless you pay for a special unlock tool that is not supported by this community

And still be in japanese, and able to use overseas?

You only need to buy imei-check.co.uk thing if you want to unlock 1.14.00.10 version.
One with radio 1.16.00.00 should already be unlocked, check it out first...

Well i read the whole thread before posting :).. But i understand that it has to be a brand new never turned on phone before being able to unlock it.. Or it will be locked forever. :(

And i will buy it Used from Yahoo Japan.

So this will probably be locked or what ? since it has been turned on?

I spoke with a seller, he said he Unlocked the phone when going on business trip to China, and the radio is 1.16.00.00. He said that the unlock might not work because he did a hard reset.. Is that true?

Won't it be unlocked for ever?
