Ok, hopefully the title has got hold of a few of us old 'flame them and leave them' brigade, and also a few newbs with problems too...

After reading so many threads recently in the style of 'my kaiser won't flash a new rom therefore it's a shit phone', or 'I bricked it 'cos I can't read' type of thread I decided to experiment a bit...

Please bear in mind that this was alcohol induced, with a desire to upgrade my kaiser and enough money to convince 'her indoors' that if I broke it I needed a replacement IMMEDIATELY... Don't try this at home unless you have enough money to bear the costs.

For some reason I decided, approx 2% through a rom flash, that I wanted to break my kaiser - so I unplugged it. Lo and behold, when I removed and replaced the battery and switched it on again there was no rom image and it couldn't boot...

Arrrrghhhhh, lets try another rom..... hmmmm it started flashing and I suddenly remembered that at approx 17% the radio starts to flash and if I interrupt this I'll definately kill my phone (gleefully looking forward to a new one). So bollocks to the wind I pulled the plug at 23% flashed.

Removed battery, replaced battery, tried 3 finger shuffle on all keys etc, etc, and then tried to flash one of Garmins roms - holy crap it worked and my phone is wonderful again etc.

My conclusions:

1. Garmin is a God - or if not, if we all start worshipping him he will become one...

2. Install HardSPL - this allowed my phone to be recovered, saved my missus a pile of cash, and left me with a working Kaiser instead of a ticket to buy the newest and bestest.

2. Don't try to flash your phone unless you have carried out 2. above.

3. If you are too stupid to carry out 2. above, don't expect any sympathy from those of us who've been there - after all, if I can't break it when pissed and trying too, how the hell do all you sober newbs manage to???

LMAO!!! This is priceless!!!

This is like when people Brick PCM's in their car tuning them... I've done almost everything you described above to my car, unplugging during a flash, f-ing with the vin, getting it so it didn't even register and I could still revive the PCM... but newbs continue to brick them left and right.

I don't see any value in leaving this thread open as it will inevitably devolve into a noob bashing thread. I am closing it and will delete in about a week.
