Hello I am new to this forum as well as windows mobile. I have an original iPhone (not 3G) and while I do believe that as far as function goes it works very well. I saw the diamond at best buy and liked it right away. The smaller size and design got me. SO I now have a few questions:

1. I see an H and very few times its a G but thats only for like a few seconds then it becomes an H again. Why doesn't it say 3G?

2. How do I get flash?

3. MY googles map does not find my locaction.

4. How can I add photos from my computer?

5. what about apps? is there a way and place to add to them.

6. When I am going to return a text message it does not bring up the last text until I close keyboard and re-open it.

7. It will not connect to check my gmail.

I am a noobie at this thing but so far I love it.

Thanks,

KB

HSDPA is much faster than normal 3G so be happy you've got HSDPA coverage!!! :) I live in an area with mostly crappy edge [E] coverage myself... I have to go to the city to have fast 3G speeds...

H is short for HSDPA which is actually faster than standard 3G:

You really need to learn how to use a search engine dude, it takes about two second to Google for "gmail windows mobile" to get your answer:

no offence meant to anyone, but i just laughed.

this kinda sums up the whole iPhone/Mac versus WM/PC stereotype thing in one ironic thread.

A happy-go-lucky Apple user expecting everything to be super easy and not having to read the manual because everything just works, and the tired old Windows veterans explaining that you have to think and work harder to get things to run smoothly.

(and that's the polite version of both ;) )

You'll be happy with your Diamond (once you get it sussed!), I think it's a great phone (mostly). You should find almost everything you need to know on these forums, but you will have to search. a bit of effort pays off ;)

You were aware that you need to select go to my location from the menu in google maps? Go over to gmail home page, not gmail itself, you will see a link with specific instructions on setting up an IMAP conection on windows mobile. Follow the instructions exactly and it will work. You dont show 3g because your not connected to it, your connected to hspda which is faster so be glad you got the coverage. Install activesync and allow your phone to finish syncing. Then select explore and mobile device in the window that pops up. Move your photos over to whatever location you want. You will move apps over to the phone in the same manner. I would suggest you create a folder on your internal storage, call it apps or whatever you want and move them there. You can then browse to them on your phone and install. There are a few programs such as.net framework that you execute on your computer with the phone connected via activesync but these are the exception rather than the rule. Most programs will come as a cab and will be executed on the phone. It pays to read up on stuff before you go hog wild or you will be asking how to do a hard reset... I just joined the WM party 3 weeks ago so I understand it can be a little overwhelming but your post is practically begging to get slammed by the do a search queens. If a pathetic old man like me can get most of this figured out anyone can.
