I had been using Sprints ROM for some time but I got the itch to try a new ROM when I was on duty in Montgomery, AL. Montgomery has excellent EVDO coverage and I never have to roam. I started noticing a problem when I went home to Decatur, AL where Sprints network isn't so great. Every time I was roaming and I would send a text it would immediately fail. I didn't notice the roaming=fail issue for a while but when I noticed it I put my phone on home network only and all is well. Unfortunately at home I roam nearly all the time which means no texts or calls. I would have to leave my phone on home network and basically could only send/recieve texts in certain locations in my home. Well a week went by and I kinda just lived with the issue... I tried to make a phone call roaming and got this message, "Welcome to Verizon Wireless. We're sorry, we are currently unable to authenticate your phone. Please try your call again. If you continue to experience problems please hang up and dial #8899 from your wireless phone. Announcement 11 Switch 113-5." Just recently I flashed to DCD's latest rom and have the same issue. I use USB to flash my ROM... I tried dialing #8899 and it gives me an automated menu but it doesn't say Sprint or VZW...

Anyone have a clue on how to fix this?

anyone have any suggestions to point me in the right direction?

I really needed to make a phone call last night but I couldn't cause I didn't have any sprint signal... tried like 10 times on roaming but kept getting the same error..

Got it fixed. Had to spend 2.5 hours on the phone with Sprint. Changed settings on the phone about 50 times... finally they did something on their end. Lady said they had to cancel my account and recreate it to fix it in the system. Oh well.

For completeness, I think the thing you had to do was get an HLR Reload.
