Disable Microdrive

Does anybody know how to disable the microdrive without opening the athena. I do not need it anymore and whe disabled the device can function much longer with the same battery.

I managed to disable mine once, but accidentally. I don't know if it will work for you, but I took the official HTC Advantage 7501 ROM from here (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Athena_Upgrades) and I used Dutty's good NBHTool from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296311) and I stripped it down to only the OS and flashed it. My microdrive was then inaccessable until I flashed a different ROM and formatted it using WM5torage and an XP machine.

Again, I don't know if what I did was a one-time mistake or not. And it might totally mess up your machine. But if you really want to turn off your microdrive...

To tell the truth though, I didn't notice any significant battery-life change.

Or hey, if you really want to get radical and crazy, you could try flashing a 7510 ROM which doesn't include the microdrive drivers... But it would probably be safer just to open the Athena and yank that little sucker out of there.
