Hey guys,
First off, I would like to say a big thank you to all of the people who have helped me out in my ROM cooking (you know who you are)!
Well, here's the scoop: First, my new puppy (a shitzu/toy poodle) chewed my cable up, so I couldn't flash ROMs (at least easily). The next week, I lost my device to freezing cold water (was bending over to put the cover on the pool for winter). Believe me or not, what I'm basically saying is that I have no device (temporarily). So, the following ROM has no screenshots, and I don't even know if it will boot or not. But, if you're up for it, here it is:
Solace v2:

Also, you should probably know that I ported the XIP and SYS from the Opal, so it might not boot at all. Please let me know if it doesnt! Also, if it does not boot, just enter bootloader (press the stylus into the reset hole while holding the camera button) and flash a different ROM.
Oh, one last thing: as you probably know, many people like to see screenshots (including myself :D), so if it's not too much, could you post a few screenshots and I'll add them here.
Once again guys, I'm sorry for laying down the burden for you guys. I'm going to pick up a new device (hopefully) next week. thanks for your support XDA!
Enjoy :)

Haha and to think you said you'd only be getting me RC3 today, you're already up to 5.
Maybe rip the XIP out of the blackstone? that would be interesting, maybe.
Also, are you still tossing in the New Generation/Diamond HTC Tones and Sounds (Innovation Tone, Afternoon Tone, Modern and Night sounds, etc) like with RC1?

I didn't allow UC to run so this is all based on the raw rom out of the box.
UPDATE--RC7
rom doesn't inclued splash screen or radio. Testing with radio 1.58.25.17 works great
NEWLY DISCOVERED
BlueTooth will not turn on. I forgot to test on RC6
FIXED
No .netcf in the rom--must be added--FIXED
advanced config can't be opened--installed .netcf 3.5 to fix--FIXED
SIP is standard. Attempted to install your opal keyboard suite and it was unsuccessful. It fails with a permissions issue even if I separately install the certs and sdk certs. FIXED
Quick GPS fails on download. this is similar to an issue with pda corners rom but his fix will not install nor will a new quick gps cab. Fails on permissions same as the keyboard suite.UPDATE==killing biotouch allowed me to install pda's quick gps fix which now allows quick gps to work!--FIXED WORKS FIRST BOOT
STILL OPEN
Dialer is missing the more page where you turn off vibrate on connection, set your auto text response etc. Reinstalling your opal phone canvas to fix this doesn't. I am looking for the place to enable in the registry. Will report back. UPDATE--no fix found yet. I personally don't like having it vibrate when it connects and would like to find out how to disable it.
[I don't consider this an issue because not everyone customizes their weather locations and it is easy to fix]
Custom weather--patching with the n2a patch for this version works but you have to install scoutchua's manila fix afterward or touchflow won't start.
COMMENTS
Power Management fully enabled to start--great no tweaks needed
GPS does lock quite well indoors despite quick qps not being operable.
Overall works quite well. Will report more after I customize.

Try terminating Biotouch.exe with a proper task manager and seeing if that fixes at least some of your permissions problems. I had been having some issues installing some programs on RC1 due to that.

fixed issues that parleyp stated :)
I updated my post. RC7 fixed most issues. The only annoying thing I have is the vibrate on connection. There should be a page in the options of the phone but it still isn't there and I don't know how to turn it off without that page.
Also, the n2a patch still requires scothua's manila fix to make touchflo work. I don't think this is a big deal because it is easy to fix and not everyone customizes weather.
Otherwise--Great job. I am going to keep hammering this over the weekend or until you release something new.
New Issue added to other post--BlueTooth won't turn on...Please see what you can do to fix. I love my BT stero headphones!

No, MBV thinks that this is something that can be fixed, albeit a difficult fix.
Also, I have mixed feelings on the new IE. My mobile view doesn't work, looks exactly the same as Desktop view. It's nice in that it doesn't use that much memory and is fairly quick, but now if i want to use a mobile website (facebook mobile, YouMail Visual Voicemail) I have to either use Skyfire or Opera.

I agree with you on the new IE. I typically use skyfire or opera anyway because IE seems to be so far behind in usability.
I hope MBV finds a way to fix the BT because otherwise, despite the very beta nature of this rom, it is already one of the smoothest roms. I too have to have BT to function so am anxiously awaiting a fix...I do understand it is going to be hard to fix because it is my take that he is going to have to completely rip the BT stack out of the base and replace it with one that is known to work on the kaiser...lots of work.

Sorry for taking so long. I was out for a while. There is definitely an issue with the dialer. I just did a hard reset to re check. Also, first startup, there is an error saying tmail.exe is not a valid application. This pops up before the customization screen on first boot and after the customization after the hard reset.
The phone can answer calls with the BT headset but dialer cannot be entered from any button or link. Still no dialer after the hard reset. I am going to flash again.
UPDATE: reflashing...will report back.
Still no phone after second flash and hard reset...MBV can you dig into this?

two flashes, made sure to HardReset, "tmail is not a valid Pocket PC Application" prevents me from getting into Pocket Outlook, this makes RC 8 a dealbreaker for me, what really sucks is that i spent all last night customizing RC7. Oh well, downgrading to 7 again, luckily i have my cabs saved in one place this time, need to install and configure Shashimi when i can afford a bigger SD Card.

Was the phone working for you? I have two flashes and hard resets and nada! That is a definite deal breaker.
I use Tier Auto Install so I can pick what I want...It is easy, with no configuration needed so I don't worry about sashimi although you can do the same thing with it in manual mode. FYI--6 more posts to senior status for you!

Yup, looking forward to that senior status.
Didn't try the phone, when I found that I couldn't open the mail app, it became an immideate dealbreaker, being i needed to get a functioning ROM in place so i could go back to college (was home for the weekend), I decided to config Sashimi to auto install everything i put on all my ROMs, flashed back to RC7 after trying to get mail to open on 8 a couple more times, and ran sashimi.
Ended up having to manually do a couple cabs though cause i forgot to disable TouchFlo to do the N2A weather patch. Which is nifty that the one for v20 works with whatever version MBV's got in this, cause 20 lacks the animations and this M2D is animation included, i figured the replacement EXE would conflict, but no problems.

First of all i want to thank you for the great effort you put into this amzing rom)
Got a couple of problems with R8 on my Vodafone NL Kaiser..
1) "tmail is not a valid pocket PC application" when i (USB) connect to my pc's
2) Mail & SMS dont open in m2d (related to 1?)
3) Pin-code screen doenst popup after booting.. pressing the "green" phone button it still doesnt popup... only when i go into commanager and select "phone settings" i can enter my pin
4) related to 3 i think... green phone button dont get me into the dialer.
(other question.. why cant i select sim contact for "People" in m2d? or is this a common problem.)

MBarvian , your ROM would be a perfect one for my need.. if it has a built-in Video call support (3G dialer).
I tried to use some of the available 3g-dialer cabs.. but I ended up with a mixed graphics of the 2g and the 3g dialer!

I just flashed RC7 this morning, and as it sits now it is running really slow. I will try flashing RC8 to see if the performance has improved. I was running the v2 beta and it was running very well prior to flashing RC7..
Update: RC8 still ran slow, along with the known issues of the phone dialer not showing during a call. I reverted back to Solace v1.5 and removed the Mortscript for M2D landscape, all is good and running very quick and functional. I, too, am a big fan of MBarvian's work, but I gotta go with a stable ROM on my phone. I know he'll get all the kinks worked out soon!

I knew you hadn't forgotten. You have been very busy releasing all the SYS/ROM ports etc. I have a new found understanding of the complexity of putting out a good rom since I have been taking a few stirs in your kitchen...It is much harder to put out a quality rom than I thought. I have cooked a few and not been really happy with the results. I like your kitchen much better than ppckitchen. I feel like I have more control with yours although their kitchen is pretty slick when you first start.

Well, here's the SITREP, Figured I'd save MBV the trouble of posting this as he had to log off earlier and i'm assuming he's also logging off XDA for the night.
Apparently M$ has been sticking TimeBombs into shell32.exe in new OS builds that are Beta.
Apparently the Omnia SYS in use is one of these with the lovely embedded timebomb.
MBV's trying to come up with a solution, we found quite a few links with information across XDA and some other forums while we were discussing it on AIM.
The best solution to ensure that there is no contamination of the SYS, would be to edit shell32.exe, hunt down and eliminate the timebomb code, and then use that version of the exe, but then there's definately some possible legality issues.
It seems you can also just use a different shell32.exe as long as certain conditions are met (can't remember off the top of my head) and then it'll work, but in that case i'm worried that the speed boost from using the Omnia base will be eliminated.
Passing this info along for the Tech heads, if any Mods don't want this here or if MBV decides that this should be internal development info, let me know and i will promptly remove it.

ok guys, it's clear I need some more clarification on this:
I think I have fixed the issue where it the ROM expires. This was caused by using a BETA Build from the Omnia ROM. There was something called a Timebomb inside Shell\system32.exe. There was a patched version of this for the Timebomb, but it was for the Hermes (even though it wouldn't be any different on the Kaiser) build 19949. I could easily have switched these builds, and there would not be this issue, but there would be a huge speed decrease, and it would defeat the whole purpose of using the Omnia build (a little exaggerated there :))
So, I just patched the Omnia build's system32.exe
Thanks for Travito for his help!
Here's what's coming in RC10:
-Fix BETA Expire issue
-Better QuickGPS skin
-More ROM available
-Some minor multimedia tweaks
I'll upload it as soon as I get home!

I know that Sakajati released a version of Hyperdragon based on the Omnia build - you may want to check with that resource to see if similar issues came up when that ROM was cooked.

We'll just have to have the slowed down version until we find a way to remove that message. Maybe there is another version of the omnia build shell32.exe that won't go all crazy. We'll have to keep our eyes open. But for now, a working Solace v2 is going to be awesome!

Kind of unrelated, but I am having another issue with all these ROM flashes...when I restrore my backup I get "ghost" email accounts (my gmail). Does anyone know how to delete/remove them? They appear on the Mail Screen on the right, but when I click them nothing happens, plus on the Accounts Setup they don't even appear (i.e. they don't exist). I searched the forum but couldn't find an answer. I thought I give it a shot in this thread since everyone here is flashing and reflashing ROMs so you may have run into this. Any ideas?? Thanks

You said that this was mostly omnia with the epix shell32, right?
Why not try a straight up epix port? being you said it wasn't too big a step down from omnia.
It'll probably still be an improvement from what the Kaiser community is used to.

Yes the phone can make calls and receive them, you just have no keyboard access or access to any options. I had the same issue last night when I dropped in cprog.exe from the latest Htc wwe kaiser build from my kitchen.

SYS: Epix
XIP: Omnia
QuickGPS Fixed (supposedly)
Will flash momentarily, I am authorized to release this should tests show as successful.
Edit: RC 15 is a NoGo.
* Activesync process: Replog.exe takes 80+% of CPU usage (hovering around 98 right now) and makes ROM unbearably slow when connected via USB and this lasts quite a while.
* Cannot access dialer, as before.
* It seems that you went back to a very old version of M2D, before the Music Tab updating and animation issue was fixed, that's a big issue for me personally.
* Quick GPS acts like it's downloading then tells me the connection failed.

I wholeheartedly agree. There's lots of nice ROMs out there, but MBV is pioneering the use of an extremely fast set of bases here. It's experimental and we shouldn't expect it to work "just like that" because there's a lot of kinks to work out.
Also, I'm starting to think that shortly after I build my hackintosh for Christmas and get Parallels Desktop installed on it so i can run XP alongside OS X at pretty amazing speeds, I am thinking that I am going to start cooking. MBV keeps telling me it's a good idea.

I have been playing at cooking...but I don't understand it all yet..I don't like ppckitchen.org as it has lots of things that just aren't available in the settings panels...They deleted them to pump up demand for their home grow apps..
I do like kaiserchef--mbv's kitchen but don't fully understand everything yet. I really want to learn from him because these roms are revolutionary. We will get it right as we test for him.
