RevKitchen Edition

I've had this for a while now but have been super lackadaisical so i'm releasing it now.

Requirements: You should be familiar with cooking and should have read the wiki several times to get an idea how to do this. It's fairly straight-forward to cook, however modifying, adding, deleting, and creating stuff could be a challange. The steps are as follows:

-Launch pkgtoolsbuildos5.3
-Go to the buildos tab
-Choose load ROM on top left
-Tick the programs that you want (i have provided hundreds of OEMs and if you want more, just create them using the CAB2OEM program i have included).
-Once the ROM is done cooking, pagepool patcher will come up. Choos the pagepool you want and exit it.
-An error about moving kaisimg.nbh will come up, perfectly fine.
-Your ROM is all done and can be found under tools>kaisimg.ngh
-Enjoy!

Yo, kareem... That fixes the keyboard "function" button, not backlight issues, FYI. If I had to guess, your ROM will work perfect for Tilt owners, those of us with non-ATT Kaisers will need to delete this regkey to get the function keys to work right.

I didn't put them in as not everybody was exactly looking for them. If you want them, you can simply instal the stand-alone cab.

Hey man...the lakers ROM is cool...its fast and cool but looks like it has some bugs:-

1) Tendency to freeze after a soft reset
2) Sync with Exchange server throws up an error and it needs a soft reset to be able to synch again
3) The Phone canvas is missing text in the buttons (but i guess you already know this :D)

so after my first day of trial i can say this. Its fast!, very smooth, but still has some glitches.

Apart from the ones already listed
- system tends to crash a lot especialy after exiting tomtom
- didn't find a way to change the keyboard layout to german
and since i flashed the rom the phone seems to have some kind of reverb.

all in all i do like the rom very much, and i hope the not lined up clock in the M2d version is corrected soon. So i can try that rom. This will then hopfully be the wright rom for me! fast and blingbling :-)

V6 running smooth... No glitches... I made a mistake and loaded Google Maps, and while I was doing it it prompted me to overwrite or remove the older version, and I clicked yes. Now the Location Tab screen in Manila can not find the Google Maps. Kareem, what is the registry string for manila Googlemaps, so I can change the value... Once again, that's a radio conflict/issue; has nothing to do with the ROM. Flash the radio i recommended above and you should be good to go :)

Guys... you will need the HTC Camera V5.4XX and the YouTube Fix installed, as the Camera is not included in this ROM and the YouTube will not open buffer as it is missing few dlls. You can do a search for these two items or ask kareem to post.

This doesn't help me with the backlight problem.
My device - Att titl. rom - RevROM v6 Home

To change the backlight I have to reboot the device to make the changes take effect. But I need this very often: when I go from office to street I need to increase the backlight, when I return back - I decrease the backlight to save the battery.
The only tool I have found that can change the becklight on this ROM without rebooting of the device is Today Warrior plugin.

If you notice that your CommManager font is a little "different" than normal (looks a little compressed), I have a fix for it. You need two Helvetica fonts in the \Windows\Fonts folder. I have an OEM package that will do that, if you want it. :)

Kareem, I am downloading V7 now. Your 1st post needs a bit of tidying up... One can get confused on which ROM has what? and is the V7 a full or naked ROM? It is not clear whether the body of your post was about V4.4, V6 or V7.

I would delete all old ROM info from first post and post info on new ROM or start a new thread for the new ROM.

I sense most chefs are in competition on who gets the most hits by packing huge numbers of posts on one thread that has in some cases 10 or more ROMs.

Maybe as a moderator you can suggest that when a cook posts new ROM, place it on its own thread. then post on the previous ROM thread title the statement "No Longer Supported". This will clean the site a lot and will prevent noobies from bumping old dead ROM to take first position on the forum.

After you flash V7, do a hard reset . When the ROM starts it will lock and or freezes. You will need to do a soft reset: do not panic... it will start and you will notice perhaps this is one of the fastest Roms out there. I am glad it was based on 3.34 build. kareem... This is indeed the most stable ROM I have run in to. No BS.

2. Device Info name Change In device Info, change the name from the current "Apache" to your name. This will be the ActiveSync name.
3. If you do not care to have UC/ Sashima to run every time you do a soft reset, then from menu click on "Select None and let it run.
4. The Internet launch Browser does not open in Manila Widget. You will need M2DC to reset the Internet to either start IE or SkyFire. SkyFire is a better browser and it is provided in the ROM.
5. AT&T Users on MediaNet plan must disable proxies in "Connection". You can do that in Start/Settings/Connections/connections/Advanced and chose MediaNet in both settings. Disable proxies in one of the tabs while in media-net setup.
6. You need to install YouTube Fix to be able to play YouTube Media Files.
7. Install MSVC and map it to the PTT. Map Recorder to PTT Long Press as well.
8. HButton is a life saver in mapping 2 other hard buttons to do multiple tasks. I mapped BT Toggle to Button 3 on long press and Quit on short press.

8. HButton is a life saver in mapping 2 other hard buttons to do multiple tasks. I mapped BT Toggle to Button 3 on long press and Quit on short press.

eMo radio should work fine however now i'm on a 1.65.x.xx radio.

@ asfoor, i think the package that i have is corrupt or something becasue people in the Hermes forum are complaining about the same thing in my ROM; will look into it and thanks for pointing it out.

Okay, sorry but 2nd quick problem. PIE does not seem to be rendering properly. Web pages are wider than the screen and does not look very good. I am used to using PiePlus which I like better than the full page browsers, but it does not seem to want to install on this ROM. So, again, I would welcome any suggestions. Thanks again.

Ok, just tried the mail tab and it works fine with me (using Yahoo). I'll see if it freezes any time when opening it.

I also have iGO8 with a lot of other programs but i get a temporary freeze issue every now and then (hasn't happened in a while).

I can confirm the second issue (not the first though) and will definitely have that fixed in this next version. Cooking is a lot slower for me with the Kaiser because i solely rely on my only one. I'm in the look for a messed up cheap kaiser just to test my ROMs out so that i can release faster (Hermes i can release a lot faster because i have 8525 with a dead radio bootloader which is perfect for testing). Don't bother flashing to the M2D version because it's the same thing. I'm going to probably change the SYS to see if i can fix it.

@ jkcreemer and Devkoko, a soft reset will fix this issue. I remove Connection Setup as i thought it's a waste of a couple mb for those who don't use it. If you do, just install the cab.

@ Helloween, it's a rather small program and it's in the ROM so you can't delete it. If you want to get rid of the shortcut, simply go to Windows>start menu>program files and delete shortcuts from there.

Just FWIW, i'm using radio 1.65.24.36 and i love it. I've flashed so many radios and haven't found one that catches a fast GPS fix along with good calling and battery life as this one. In the Southern California area here just for the records.

Just go to the options in Wktask and exit it ;)

As for the battery bar, you can try installing the cabs available in the battery indicator thread, however i'm not sure if anything will be overwritten since most of the times it has to be cooked in.

For your first issue, be sure you run the connection setup to get the right network settings. As for your keyboard issue, use ACT and under input, choose your place.

at the buttom of the screen there are tabs. if you navigate to the internet tab(where you see the blue world) you should be able to click on it and internet browser should be able to start. but after doing this, nothing happens. also my keybord still stays messed up and the outlook mail tab doesn't seem to have configuration settings for mail.

Ah, now i know what you mean. Get M2DC to get that Internet tab working and find your settings for outlook. As for the keyboard, be sure to soft reset after applying the tweak. Which Kaiser variant do you have?

I just installed lite version of the rom and it's pretty quick.
I noticed small bug ( i think it is). When I disabled the Phone skin with advanced config, the back button disappeared, instead there is white bar. it sill works though when clicked on it.
Am I the only one affected by it? Also does it have NetCF3.5?

It's in the Ultimate Radio Thread. Run Quick Position and it's okay if the baud rate stays there afaik.

Usually when there are GPS problems it's because aGPS is enabled, use Advanced Config or KaiserTweak to make sure that it is disabled. :)

It's called M2D, not M3D ;) Not everything will look 3D.

@ nilocz, which format are you capturing the vids in? They should play fine in WMP and if not, try TCPMP.

format taken from camera itself. it written mp4 and the sample 3gp. i think playing the clip through htc alblum got ploblem . i always see the picture on the m2d flip up,down zoom in,out all ok and once got video clip it just dont play..:eek: but if i used file explore or wmp it play as normally.

also, how can i change the available sounds for the alarm? the only sounds im able to select are some stock sounds that last for less than one second. i want to be able to use one of my ringtone or an mp3 file ive put on the phone that will actually play long enough to wake me up. i tried to find the folder on the phone that contained these files to no avail

I have been looking through the cooking wiki and cooking tutorials for a while and had wanted to get started, to create something for my own use if nothing else.

So, I downloaded your kitchen two days ago, and started out... Easy to use, and I think I'm getting it right. However, I have run into one problem, and I'd be interested in any suggestions you might have.

After flashing my own cooked rom the phone locks up right after I get through the customizations. If I flash a rom that includes ConnectionSetup, then it locks up while I'm on the ConnectionSetup screen where I select country and then carrier. Tapping anywhere on the screen does nothing, neither does pressing any of the hardware buttons. If I reset the device (using the stylus) I get back to customizing and ConnectionSetup, and I basically cannot get past this point.

If I do NOT include ConnectionSetup (e.g., I cook the lite7.erv pre-configurated rom), then the device locks up at a messagebox where it says it cannot find \windows\connectionmanager.exe. Again, no response to screen taps or button presses. However, in this case the phone is fully functional after I soft reset using the stylus.

I am cooking on Vista, I use cmonex 3.29 as my hardspl, and I always make sure I hard reset after flashing (two softkeys + stylus). I always flash from micro-sd and I set page pool to 6. Flashing your RevROM v8 Lite on the same device still gives me the messagebox saying it cannot find \windows\connectionmanager.exe, but the device doesn’t lock up.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

i've had this for a while now but have been super lackadaisical so i'm releasing it now.

Requirements: You should be familiar with cooking and should have read the wiki several times to get an idea how to do this. It's fairly straight-forward to cook, however modifying, adding, deleting, and creating stuff could be a challange. The steps are as follows:

-launch pkgtoolsbuildos5.3
-go to the buildos tab
-choose load rom on top left
-tick the programs that you want (i have provided hundreds of oems and if you want more, just create them using the cab2oem program i have included).
-once the rom is done cooking, pagepool patcher will come up. Choos the pagepool you want and exit it.
-an error about moving kaisimg.nbh will come up, perfectly fine.
-your rom is all done and can be found under tools>kaisimg.ngh
-enjoy!

note: Most of the stuff are run and completed automatically, therefore it skips the chance to edit the dump, choose splash screens, spl, etc. To edit this, simply edit create_rom_for_kaiser under tools with notepad to create a pause.

Just soft reset and you're device will be fine.

That's what you're supposed to do :S

The connectionsetup cab wasn't included so it freezes when running and a simple soft reset will remedy the issue.

I have installed successfully this rom but I have lost my sound. The phone does not ring at all. I have tried to play an mp3, then to play phone melody but with no success. Also when I open the keybord there is no sound.
Oh yes - one other problem - I can not see my sim card's contacts.
The phone is AT&T TyLT and I also have HTC Kaiser but I'm afraid to touch it.

Can you help me with this issue please?

Ok gonna give helping a shot here @ Kate the issue is most likely a radio issue from what I have read. Try a different radio

I have dowloaded from htc.com the official Wm6.1 and installed on the Tylt. It upgraded the radio version to 1.65.17.56.
Then installed RevROM_v5.55__M2D_.nbh but it stuck short after boot. Then i had problems with sync and I have reset it. The got synchronized and installed Kaiser_RevROM_v8.nbh and so far it works fine. The sound is ok and I have found how to check sim card's contacts using iContact.
When I open the comm manager WiFi is not available to turn on/off. I go to "settings" then on "Wireless LAN - Turn On/off wireless Lan". Now on comm manager Turn Off WiFi is not available, but when I got to "setting" again wireless lan and change network. When I'm on "configure wireless network" I am able to turn on/off from Menu.
I'm also able to turn on/off the WiFi from Start-Settings-Connections-WiFi and Menu.
On the Tylt On Start-Settings-Personal-Phone I do not have the undermenu "Band" to turn off 3g (it is available on my Kaiser). Any ideas?

Indeed, you can add these manually or use connection setup to get them.

As for the sound issue, as mentioned, it is indeed a radio incompatibility. I use 1.65.24.26 and it works great.

After flashing it gets to the part where the "Customizations" will be installed.
During that time, the installation stops and an error comes up saying that the connection setup doesn't exist and phone freezes. I soft reset and the rom doesn't seem to work right.


I even tried hard reseting. Also, flashing to hardspl 3.56 then reflashing; Still the problem occurs.


Any HELP?!?!

Just installed the rom today - my first flash on the Tilt I bought... Looks very nice, but I'd like to know how to lock it up so I don't accidentally activate anything while it's in my pocket. I hate those calls you make to the wife that you don't even know about!!

Again, soft reset fixes the customizations issue.

To lock, you can either us S2U2 or start>settings>phone>PIN.

Weird, i have band under mine. Anyhow, use ACT to add 3G to your Comm Manager and then go to Comm Manager, disable it there.

No error, it appears to install correctly, but with a warning that it was created for a previous version of Window Mobile. Spot checking for registry entries & files from the cab show at least some of the the registry entries and both DLLs being there after install.

I'll try cooking it in next and see what happens.

Yes, perfectly fine; as mentioned before, simply soft reset and your device will spring into action.

You must set up your carrier's connection settings in order for the MMS to work (you must also enable the proxy).

I installed RevROM v8 (not the lite version). I noticed I was missing the MMS option so I downloaded and installed the Communications Setup .cab located here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3427410&postcount=9). I still only have "text messages" and "email" listed under Messaging. Is there something else I need to do to enable MMS?

Hey Kareem, I just noticed that you added my name here! It was nothing considering all of the help that you have given me to learn my first smartphone! I am going to install Rev Rom 8 and see how it goes. I was using the lite version, but it doesn't play nice with any of the Google Voice apps I've found. I'll let you know how everything works out.

PS: I may be getting a Pure next week (won a contest on Twitter), I'll email you my thoughts when I do.
