Boot splash (not a how do I do this question!)

Read the wiki on how to create the bootsplash (not the welcome png). Problem is the zip file listed for download on the ftp is not working (file does not exist). I did find a nbh of the bootsplash I want but it is for a Trinity. Will it work? If not, has someone already created a similar one for Hermes? Or if someone has the software I will create my own...

I did! :) The problem is the download from the xda ftp is not working so I cannot get the software necessary to create it. Just get an error:

This webpage is not found. No webpage was found for the web address: ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Hermes/Cooked_ROMs/Hermes_SplashScreen_Pack.zip

I have not been able to find the software in the search other than the link pointing to the ftp... and any of the nbh files I have found are not for the Hermes.

So if anyone:

1: Has the software for me to make one

2: Or has already created one

3: Or knows that a Trinity splash nbh will work

dunno if the trinity one would work.. might be worth a try.. just use the nbh tool to join the splash.nb's and give it a try.

lol, well the trinity one just bricked it but I got it up again with mtty.:D

For future reference for anyone trying this: Before I tried the trinity nbh I extracted the files with nbhextract and it also converted the nb to bmp. They were the correct image size and had the correct file size as well, so I just created a new nbh using those nb files with nbhgen. Didn't go so well as it bricked! So tried creating a new one in case the file was corrupt, no good, still brick! :p

Saw your updated post and found the nbimg tool (I was just searching specifically for the nb_image_converter.exe tool from the wiki before, lol should have done a more generic search!) I created new nb files from the extracted bmp files. Now everything was the same as the original nb files (as far as I can tell) except the file name now had an extension of .bmp.nb. Updated the txt file and created a new nbh with nbhgen using these files, flashed and voila, it worked!

Don't know why the trinity nb files didn't work as they looked the same.:confused:

But at any rate, thanks for the link! I have attached the file if anyone is looking for a HTC main and sub splash for their Hermes (both the main and sub look the same as the pic in the first post).

Tools used:
