Hi, i user my kaiser as a modem for my laptop through active sync. with a big download it can be on for several hours. the kaiser gets very hot, i take the back cover off and prop the unit off the desk. i know this will shorten the life of it though, any suggestions?

using your kaiser's modem is much like using the phone itself. it emits heat due to electromagnetic waves going in and out of your antenna. you can't run away from it because your battery has to supply power to your modem and that creates even more heat. this creates a positive heat feedback on your battery.. so the more it heats the more it heats.
unfortunatly there's no solution to mobile cooling yet in the power units but what you can do is try to put it on a heat conducting surface like metal.. and while at it, keep it AWAY FROM YOU because it's NOT healthy.
